Heres a video I love :)
Kelis Acapella , look out for the tiny feet by her side at about 2:40. She has her baby on her back in a torso carry

woowa · 02/11/2011 23:31

Hi all

Scan #6 was fine, baby all normal. DOc has changed her mind on the induction. Two weeks ago she said she wouldn't let me go past 38 weeks, now she says "we'll see, but we definitely won't let you go past your due date". Well, that give me a bit longer to go into labour naturally, but now i have to stop thinking it'll be here in 11 weeks, it'll be 13 max instead. I was getting all excited! I suppose I could still get preeclampsia tomorrow though. Happy thought! I'm booked in for FIVE more scans now!! That'll be ELEVEN in total if baby stays with me. HAs anyone else here had that many scans??!! bonkers.

Caffeine also gets baby moving in a less healthy way, if you're desperate. I find the best way is to just lie on the sofa quietly for a while, because you never feel it while busy. I'm getting lots of movement but also mahoosive Braxton hicks. If i'm walking about for any length of time, my uterus contracts for significant lenghts of time (10, 15 mins!!). Nice to know it's getting toned up ready to push baby out. Anyone know when we can start on raspberry leaf tea? ....just looked it up for myself - 32 weeks, but babycentre has LOADS of advice about not taking it at all. Well, i did the first time and had only 15 minutes of pushing. If i get that again, it'll be worth the horrible taste!!

Good grief, it's 11.30! Where did the last two hours go?!!

27+1 Night!

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 03/11/2011 05:54

Glad all is ok woowa Smile x

Xavielli · 03/11/2011 06:10

Glad things are looking good woowa, I'll pinch one of your scans to try and get my naughty baby to not be so coy.

Raspberry leaf tea - I've drank it every time from roughly 30weeks. You get used to the taste after a while. Not sure how much of a difference it makes but the longest a 2nd stage has taken is 10mins.

How do I get on the Facebook group??? Please can someone invite me:
www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=520876827

woowa glad you've had better news.

Sorry for all with SPD... sounds nasty :(

Raspberry leaf tea sounds like some sort of miracle drink if it can get the pushing done in 15mins!! Will investigate!

What else from me... less busy at work this week, so much less stressed. My lovely parents are going to give us £500 to get a pram :) And I think I may need to stop wearing heels to work now :(

Aww that is good news woowa, nice to hear positives Smile

Dragging my ass into work soon... Very very difficult! 2 days though, not long til LIE IN, then FIREWORKS!! Whoopwhoop GrinGrinGrin

Sugar80 · 03/11/2011 08:18

Made it to the facebook group! Right, really have to go to work now, so will have a good old nose at everyone's pics tonight!!

EsmeWeatherwax · 03/11/2011 10:19

Good news Woowa hope it all continues to go well! That's definitely the most scans I've ever heard anyone having, tops I've managed is five, for dd2, who the docs thought was going to be massive, lol, she ended up weighing less than dd1!

Was talking to one of the school run mums yesterday, she was saying her 3rd dc was 11lb 6, and she had him naturally, no pain relief bar being in a birthing pool! She said it was lovely...don't know if I believe that, haha, but nice to have someone telling a good birth story rather than the usual gloom and doom merchants!

Monkey great about the exam, fingers crossed for you!

Lovely to put faces to all the names on the fb page, lol, and we all just have the cutest kids!

Woo Sugar any ideas what pram you're after? I'm so hankering after a new one, really can't justify it though, I've had sooo many prams over the last four years! My best mate has offered to give me her mamas and papas all singing, all dancing enormo-pram though, I'm very tempted, babies always look so comfy in them. I must resist...argh!

babycarmen · 03/11/2011 11:15

monkey i keep getting bump comments like that.. everyone seems to think Feb is ages away because its next year but its really not!!

woowa great news! I had 12 scans with DD for the same reasons and so far ive had 6 and getting my 7th at 32 weeks then will know if il need more or not! Least we get little dates to look forward to between now and D day!

Im giving myself a 'pregnancy day' and staying at home today. I woke up feeling awful. I had 2 braxton hicks before i even got out of bed. My heads thumping and im tired.

I cant stop worrying about my stupid placenta failing again, part of me knows everything will probably be ok but the other part of me cant stop thinking about it and hoping baby is ok, the sonographer said blood flow to the placenta looked ok but she only looked for like 30 seconds, then she said theres no way baby is gonna be a big baby. Shes moving about a LOT and its starting to get painful and hard, i think shes running out of room in there!!

melliebobs · 03/11/2011 11:19

:) all pips furniture has arrived and been put up! Had a lil weep cos it looks better than i imagined. And also it all seems so big for one ickle baby!

It just needs a baby now!

i'll get round to joining the Facebook group eventually but i've finally uploaded scan pics etc to this profile!

littlemonkeybix · 03/11/2011 13:03

mellie is your profile protected? I just tried to have a look and it won't let me on.

I will add stuff to the FB page hopefully at the weekend, it's hard to access it on my phone.

Hope we're all well today. Smile

I had some serious kicks before off pip.... but I had just scoffed some opal fruits starbursts... SUGAR OVERLOAD!!

OOH and DP just said we should go out for tea (he's missed me) so I have booked a fab posh canal side pub - YAAAY

Sugar80 · 03/11/2011 13:48

I must start eating more healthily. DP told me off yesterday for not feeding "his child" any fruit! Was going to be good today, but it was Build A Burger at the canteen... deep fried veggie burger and skinny fries anyone? My friend is making pig noises at me...

Pram-wise, I reeeeeeeally want an iCandy Peach Jogger when they come out. Or I'd settle for an Apple Jogger. But we may end up being sensible and going for a Mothercare My3 for about a third of the price!!

BillComptonstrousers · 03/11/2011 14:01

I have been reading some SCARY birth plans on here earlier, I'm sure I didn't have them with the other two as it feels like a million years ago but bloody hell some of them are hardcore! No cutting the cord till it's stopped pulsating WTF??

The only things I would have on my list is

  1. Don't let me die.
  2. I need an epidural.

Is anyone else doing a massive in depth birth plan? I'm quite scared reading some of them!

OP posts:
louby86 · 03/11/2011 14:17

I've seen some really odd stuff on here too bill and it's sent me into a bit of a panic. Have you seen the thread about birth preparations? My preparation involved lying on the sofa, shopping and a bit of nesting once maternity leave started but some people are talking about classes, reflexology, hypnobirthing stuff and colostrum harvesting Hmm and as for a birth plan, I'm the same as you! Please don't let me die and give me all the drugs I'm allowed Grin Oh and I'm a bit squeamish so please clean baby before giving her to me Blush

diedandgonetodevon · 03/11/2011 14:18

ooh, where are the scary birth plans?.. I won't really have one as such this time as it will be ELCS. Skin-to-skin straight away and BF within an hour are about as in depth as it will be this time.

Last time I think the only real thing on there was no Keillands forceps under any circumstances, other than that it was pretty much 'just get this baby out now please' (9 days overdue when he finally put in an appearance).

Baby is very active now which is lovely but s/he will keep on kicking the cushion if I lean on one which is a really strange feeling.

26wks today (Shock Grin)

babycarmen · 03/11/2011 14:27

Hahaha bill!

My birth plan with DD1: only gas and air, natural as possible, etc etc... about a page long.

Birth plan this time: Get her out as quick as you can, give me the drugs! Grin

Baby just changed position i think, a foot or something just dragged across my tummy and i actually thought it was gonna push right through my skin... ouch :(

Xavielli · 03/11/2011 14:50

I've never made a birth plan. Only thing they've asked me really is about vitamin k for baby after birth to which I always say injection. I can see how writing one could make some people feel a bit calmer about things but there is no guarantee the mw will even look at it.

It's best to make sure your birth partner knows the important stuff incase you get too out of it. I'm more of a 'fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants' kinda person so what happens will happen.

Xavielli · 03/11/2011 14:53

And yes louby, my birth prep will be napping, eating chocolate and perhaps baking some bread. Anything more is just asking too much of your body lol

melliebobs · 03/11/2011 17:13

there you gomonkey think i've fixed it Confused

Pip must have been having a quiet one yesterday cos they havent stopped literally all day. Sat and watched my belly wobble about for half an hour this afternoon. The dog was a bit suspiscious

deardear · 03/11/2011 17:43

my birth plan has always been non existent. i didnt want to make one and be disappointed when it all went tits up. had everything going with DD1 and with DD2 there was no room on delivery so had to say on the ward and have her with just gas and air and felt alot better afterwards. this time i want to stay at home as long as possible and maybe be norty and have LO at home. havent mentioned this to MW yet and probably wont. cant see the point if i am as quick as had to wait for doctor for nearly 11 hours after DD2 which was pretty pointless.

woowa · 03/11/2011 19:52

I waited for cord to stop pulsing before cut with DD - it means they get as much of the cord blood (therefore more iron) as possible, which is supposed to be good for them. I then haemorrhaged 4 units, and had about as little iron as is possible, and needed a transfusion. I was glad someone had lots of iron, but i think this time i'll be having the syntocin injection and they can cut the cord whevever they want.

In our NCT classes our teacher told of some culture where they don't EVER cut the cord, they wrap the placenta up and just stay in bed with baby til it drops off naturally. Sounds WEIRD, but also, how nice to stay in bed for a week after the birth - i guess it's a culture where all the women are around to help each other. That sounds nice too!!

I absoltuley ache in the pelvis and hips today, hoping it's a one-off because I slept funny or something, rather than SPD. Making life much harder with DD! Right, telly with DH, during which I'll fall asleep. Night all!

Sugarkane · 03/11/2011 19:55

Can I join the FB thingy please??? www.facebook.com/sugarkane81

My birth plan is pretty simple, I want as natural as poss but if I ask then give, skin to skin and BF only, DP to announce the sex and ask me if you want to do anything else.

Sugarkane · 03/11/2011 20:03

Slightly worried here, have been getting a lot of eye flashing things, feel like im shaking and not feeling right seems better now I have eaten but really felt shit earlier anyone else had it? SPD seems to be ok the last week or so, so I guess this gives me something else to moan about?? Grin

PDog · 03/11/2011 20:23

I'm still here - just having a v busy week at work. Sorry for lack or personals, memory like a sieve at the mo.

sugarkane I get that sometimes when I haven't eaten enough, prob caused by low blood sugar. If it keeps happening though I would see your mw.

My birth plan is pretty similar to yours. I think it is more important that you make your birth partner know your preferences though and that you regard your plan as flexible. It can make you feel like you have failed in some way if things don't go according to your plan. Last time the mw came out the house to do my birth plan at about 36 weeks.

Going to watch some telly with DH now, night all.
