CoffeeOne · 14/12/2011 16:09

I'm joining you all in the coundown, 20 days left at work! (although v jealous of those of you with only a handful of days left!)

Baby's movements are getting crazy now, you can actually see him changing position and stretching Xmas Grin loving it, even if it is keeping me up at night.

You might see me in the news for killing the next person to ask me if I'm 'sure there's just one in there?!' Xmas Angry

Just a wee catch up for those of you NOT on fb.. I had bad stabby pains and bleeding on Monday so had a trip up to the maternity ward to be checked out (thinking it was a uti!) and they put me on the monitor and it turned out my pains were contractions which were coming every 5 minutes, in rushes the doctor telling me i need steroids for babys lungs, just incase, and id need to stay in. The doctor did an internal examination and my cervix was closed (thank GOD) so i was allowed home and told to go back of the pain gets worse.
Ive still been getting contractions off and on but they havent got worse so im hoping they will settle down soon. I see the consultant on Monday for a scan too and theyre going to come up with a 'plan of action' then if im still contracting etc.. But hopefully it will settle down and baby will stay put!!
Ive had a few bad pains today which were sore but im ok just now, just really tired and trying to rest up as much as possible! After the doctor did the internal and checked my cervix i had the MOTHER of all contractions, a very real reminder of what labour is like and im not looking forward to going there again! Also terrified me that my cervix might open now but hopefully not.

So thats all my drama! Im feeling like ive slowed down a lot now, and i need a lot more sleep. Any one else feel like that? 7 weeks and 3 days left... oh my word!

New thread soon?? Xmas Shock

PDog · 14/12/2011 18:16

I am on fb but had a really busy weekend so not had chance to post. Glad baby is staying put babyc. Can they not give anything to stop the contractions and keep your cervix closed? My medical knowledge comes from watching er though so not entitrely reliable Xmas Grin.

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 14/12/2011 19:01

Oh babycarmen, you must be so worried. Glad things have settled down a bit and that your cervix is still closed. I hope they manage to hold it off a bit longer. The same thing happened to my SIL at 28 weeks, she held off for two weeks and then went into labour. My niece was born premature at 30 weeks and was in SCBU for a while, but she is absolutely fine and is now a bouncing 2 year old and meeting all her milestones.

CoffeeOne · 14/12/2011 19:28

glad things seem to be ok now babycarmen
stay put little one!!

melliebobs · 14/12/2011 19:50

Omg babycarmen that's worrying. Sending out 'stay put' thoughts. Markets were great. Had one alcoholic drink and my god me n pip loved it. Glühwine with rum and cinnamon. Gutted I restricted myself to just the one. And best of all when I got home pips bedroom/cot stuff had turned up. It's great. Me and DH are calling it 'vintage village fete picnic' lol

Ooo and last of all does n e one have a link to the Facebook group?!

louby86 · 14/12/2011 19:53

mellibobs I'm so stupid, I was wondering why I couldn't see your scan pictures on facebook, but they're on your profile here! Doh! They're amazing, you must be so pleased! They're so clear and beautiful Grin

Finally caved and put up my tree tonight. Need to finish my shopping but have seriously lost my get up and go

I am having loads of braxton hicks which are getting more painful. A definate reminder what i've got to come in 9 weeks!

Still got heartburn guess its not going this time. Nothing new to report!

OddEyes · 14/12/2011 20:42

ShockWow, babycarmen! What a scare! Hoping you able to really relax well and that contractions settle down. You sound really brave.
One of my friends recently had contractions on and off for 8 weeks, wasn't pleasant at all and had to keep going in thinking this is it but labour in the end was easy and perfect.

melliebobs · 14/12/2011 21:16

Thanks queenfee when I'm on laptop 2mrw I'll get that sorted

Also coffee have you hears anything about the anti natal sessions (if u signed up to them?) when I saw the midwife 2 week ago she said I should have heard something by now so to ring um up. Rung um n left a message but no ones got back to me.

woowa · 14/12/2011 22:15

CoffeeOne · 15/12/2011 09:47

mellie I called them at about 26 weeks to ask wtf was going on. They got back to me and assured me I would be hearing from them in the next week or two. I'm now coming up to 31 weeks and haven't heard anything. I'll be learning how to have this baby after it's born at this rate!

I want to join the facebook grouuuuuppp but I have fear of being outed on here (I like to rant and moan you see). Can anyone else see it?

Glad baby is looking well woowa especially good news after your earlier scare, nice to see all these babies staying put!

Xavielli · 15/12/2011 09:58

No mellie, it's a super secret group (with a newly installed magic bathroom) nothing shows up in news feeds or subscriptions.

Xavielli · 15/12/2011 09:59

Sorry, coffee, not mellie!

QueenFee · 15/12/2011 10:46

We feel very special to have our own 'secret' club!

Bit worried about the contractions I had last night 2 hours of it. Think i'm a bit paranoid about premature birth this time. Off to google if braxton hicks are worse in 4th pregnancies.

NotnOtter · 15/12/2011 11:19

Queenfee I think they must be ... I had two hours of quite 'grunt inducibg' ones in Tuesday night and was starting to worry but overnight they all wore off! Dp was totally (annoyingly) blasé saying it always happens Hmm
Would like to join in your group if poss ?

melliebobs · 15/12/2011 14:29

coffee I'm comin up 31 wk too and it's getting beyond a joke so rung them........again and I got to speak to a person. Apparently they are going through the forms 'systematically' and are 'just in the process of sorting out feb due dates'

Well let's hope pip don't want to come early cos I couldn't feel any less prepared and I can't decide were I want to have the lil thing and would like to visit me 2 options first.

Infact now I'm thinking about it why couldn't they tell me over the phone whilst they had me and where to go and when rather than send me a letter which, knowing my luck, will get lost in the post Hmm

PamBeesly · 15/12/2011 15:00

Hello everyone, just catching up with the thread, its brilliant we've all made it so far without early labours Xmas Smile all our babies are staying put because its too cold! Carmen hopefully with rest and getting spoiled you and baby will be fine and she'll have to be encouraged to come out when her time is up!

Woowa 5lbs wow! I can feel my baby being particularly heavy in my belly now and love it, he is always kicking away when I rest. I had a can of coke yesterday, I've never had it during pregnancy but had such a huge craving I got one, and the baby was moving all night, I don't know if its a bad thing for him, the caffeine levels aren't high enough that they meet the max amount you are allowed, maybe this is why you should never give cola to children!

London was great, I loved it. The people there are so friendly and nice and I had been told otherwise, that they wouldn't stop and help you etc but they couldn't have been nicer. Thanks for the recommendatons too Zhen in the end we went to the Tower of London, the V&A, Buckingham Palace, Harrods and we went browsing through bookshops in Soho, I wanted everything there! I had a 10kg baggage limit though but birthday money to spend, if I lived in London I don't think I'd ever use amazon for books, its a treasure trove there, I loved it. I ached so much in the evenings though, I needed to be hoisted out of bed for the loo...it was all worth it and hopefully baby enjoyed all the walking too!

Does anybody know at what stage does the babys head start to engage? I wonder is mine starting now, I always have a heavy sensation down low?
Also what has everybodys worst pregnancy affliction been so far? (Not to jinx us all) mine has definitely been the god awful itching at the start of pregnancy where I couldn't sleep for weeks because of it. Second has to be the awful rib pain that I have now. I feel lucky I haven't suffered from piles or heartburn (yet, I still have 10 weeks)

Notnotter - and anyone else who wants to join the FB group - my FB profile is here - if you add me as a friend I can add you to the group!

babycarmen · 15/12/2011 17:00

Thanks everyone, shes holding tight so far :) Im hoping she makes it into the new year at the very least! Will see what the consultant has to say on Monday. Been very stressed out and tired, hardly slept a wink last night and keep shouting at everyone :( Cant wait til this time next week when all my appointments are done and DDs preschool is finished for holidays and i can just stay in the house and relax! Still getting contractions but theyre getting less and less frequent so i think all is good!

woowa glad everything is looking good for you!!

glowfrog · 15/12/2011 18:58

Ooh BabyC - scary!! Keeping everything crossed for you!

deardear · 15/12/2011 20:07

my worst affliction has to be the nausea and also the transverse lie. i can honestly say i have hated this pregnancy and never ever want to be pregnant again.

Babyc really hope pip stays put in a nice warm bed.

Pam my 2nd started to engage from about 32 weeks as did first one. was fully engaged by 37/38 weeks with both of them. both arrived bang on time. This one is so high up he is more likely to come out through my mouth than my fanjo!

havent had any really painful BH yet - just some tightenings. The pain in my left hand side is immense though and he is really poking out that side. like twisting cramp in my stomach. cant lie on my left hand side as it hurts at night and cant lie on my right hand side because of previous stomach problems that really do hurt around my sternum
