Second the vote for metanium for nappy rash. Are there people who use barrier creams all the time?

On shampoos etc, DD is 22 months and I have never used shampoo or soap or anything on her skin. And both hair and skin are lovely and clean and shiney (well, her skin isn't shiney!) I honestly think they don't need anything. Bottom only wiped with water too, unless out. Saves SOO much money!! In the hospital the other day on the propaganda channel Johnsons were saying that water alone doesn't get the ammonia from wee off their bottoms!!! Can't believe they can get away with such rot!! DD has the most beautiful skin, and she always gets red bum when we're on holiday and I have to use disposables and wipes. DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES!! I'm not particualrly a lentil weaver, and I put all sorts of chemicals on my body, but i'm sure they're just as pointless!! That was my 3 p worth, feel free to ignore.

Mouse advice - get a cat or two. Ours sorted the problem out very quickly!!

Relatively restful day today, thanks for the concern!! I drove to baby group, about a 10 minute walk usually, i couldn't even face that!!! But did go to shops when DD napping and successfully bought DH a birthday pressie. phew!!

32+6...

And by the way, did I hear you call the baby Sophie a couple of pages ago??? i thought that was a big no no :-)

And can all of you stop making your bloody lists and posting pictures of your lovely nurseries!! I have nothing organised just like baby Jesus there is no room at the inn!

Girls just moved into their own rooms befor I found out I was pregnant, so not a spare bedroom in sight and they are refusing to share again

I really struggle to sleep with a baby in my rooms after 3/4 months.

Yes I have decided to let Chris have his way naming this little one. Smile think it'll actually be nice to tell her one day that her daddy name her because he loved the name so much and loves her even more

soppy bitch

Deep down I'm still [meh] but I've got dibs on the next one. Grin which will be a boy called Jensen lol

littlemonkeybix · 13/12/2011 09:20

Woowa... im feckin allergic to cats :-( so just have to struggle on. it doesn't help that there is holes in the floor in the pantry kitchen and hall.. may as well have a bloody welcome sign too! But that's another battle!

Still 2 dead this morning tweet... made me feel a bit better!

littlemonkeybix · 13/12/2011 09:20

Stupid phone... randomly "helping" by adding in words... tweet anyone... ARGH!!

BillComptonstrousers · 13/12/2011 09:36

My Chris wanted Sophie as well, and I was really wanting Sophia, I just love it. But neitherof us were budging, so we have settled on Lucy instead, with Seren for a middle name. Think he is going off that name now, so god knows what middle name we will end up with!

Glad you've managed to catch some of the mice monkey

DH wants in on the changing bag too so he can have something for when its 'Daddy and baby day' - when I go back to work I'll do a Saturday to save on childcare and give him some time on his own with the little one! So in my moments of insomnia last night was googling for unisex bags, finally found one, not too keen because I wanted something a bit nicer but oh well, I'll compromise, I didn't think he'd even consider stuff like that so I'm very impressed!

We're re-decorating the nursery to blue this week too. It needs to definitely be a boy now Grin

littlemonkeybix · 13/12/2011 11:07

teehee!! Fingers crossed the Blue paint works on getting a boy out Xmas Wink

We went for a baba bing bag, which is a "paternity bag"... loads of pockets and what nots, and nice simple black design. There's pink stitching on but nothing intrusive. We nearly got a browny beige one of the same brand, but opted for black in the end.

Cheapest I found was in Toys R Us. ALways worth re-checking... and look out for vouchers!!

It'll be fab for either f us to use on days out with pip... and we got a silver cross one free with our pram (free... well you know, it was in the package!) which was grey (charcoal... ooh) So still unisex for us Grin

Sugar80 · 13/12/2011 16:15

Okay ladies, what can I do about back pain? This is getting silly. For a few weeks now I've been getting pain in my right side in the evenings - usually end up going to bed early becasue I can't sit comfortably on the settee. However, I'm now getting it at work too - had it yesterday afternoon and most of today. I've got a back support for my chair which was helping a little, but not enough :(

phlossie · 13/12/2011 16:29

woowa - last night, my DH said 'when we move we're getting a cat that KILLS things!' I didn't expect him to want a cat at all, but we've already found mice in our new house, so he wants one!

Kayano and Louby - I'm in the last baby camp, but the age gap between my first two is exactly what you said - DS was born in Feb and DD was conceived the following NY and born the following October. It is a mental age gap, I'll be honest - the first few months - well, the first year is bonkers. BUT they are now the most amazing playmates and they're in to all the same things - they do gymnastics together and they're in the same swimming class. It was well worth the year of madness.

Sugar - I've had terrible back pain, but a chiropractor plus a belly bra has sorted me out a treat. I got belly bras on amazon and one from Mothercare (support band). I have a number of a chiropractor who is an ex-midwife in Bishopston if you're interested. It is £60 for your first session and £45 after that. But my back pain was so bad I'd have paid anything,

Hi all, long time since I last posted..lots of aches & pains, heart burn & insomnia over here. On the plus side, I have finished work!..Whoop!!..We have an almost finished nursery, few things packed in a bag for hospital & am almost organised for Christmas. Had my hair cut & coloured today & lunch with my Mum, my first official work free day, feels very strange! Im sure I will soon get used to it!..

m1nn1em0u5e · 13/12/2011 18:41

PS Last baby for us too, we will have 4 year plus age gaps with all 3 & it works for us, its completely down to personal choice, but I have loved having each baby at home alone once the older one was in school/nursery, didnt feel like I was splitting myself in two. However, I can see pros for little gaps & mine are usually into different things, which can be hard to handle!..For eg on holiday, we went to Disney & spent lots of time separated, DH & older DS & Myself & younger DS on different rides!..

33+6 days!....

Oh btw, on a different subject, my 4 year old is constantly going to the toilet, says it doesnt hurt, but he has been about 6 times in the last 2-3 hours!..School never mentioned anything about it today when I picked him up? Sounds like a UTI to me, but hes in no pain & has not drank a lot since I picked him up?..Any ideas?..

Kayano · 13/12/2011 18:42

I just googled 'Sophie Horn' Hmm

Apparently she is a glamour model and a golfer Confused

If you can't guess I am displeased by this Angry

glowfrog · 13/12/2011 19:23

cheers, Hermione - feeling a bit more settled today, thank God. Had a good chat and cuddle with DH, which did me a lot of good.

little monkey - make sure not to be like me and let yourself become a martyr. Ask and ask again to get things done! :-D

woowa · 13/12/2011 20:06

bill could you tell your DDs that they either share with each other, or the baby sleeps in with one of them? I think i'd rather share with someone closer to my age than a baby!!

Terrible night's sleep again last night, praying for a sleep through for all of us (me, DH, DD, baby in belly who is causing pain with kicks, and cats who walked over us all night last night - take back the cat advice!). SO fed up with lying awake because baby is kicking so much!!

Telly and knitting now xx

33 weeks today!! SCan number 8 tomorrow...

melliebobs · 13/12/2011 20:08

Taking pip to her first concert at the mo @ Manchester Apollo. She is loving the bass! Party time in the womb

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 13/12/2011 20:30

Glad she is enjoying it Mellie, haven't been to a party with DD2 bump yet but when DD1 was in the womb I took her to her great-granny's party (Jamaican style with loud reggae) and she loved it! Still loves reggae now so I guess it must have made an impression :)

louby86 - we are re-decorating and asked DD1 (2.5) what colour she wanted for her bedroom. Her answer was firmly blue with dinosaurs Grin

We are not planning any more children as such, but if another happened to come along they would be welcomed. I waited until DD1 stopped breastfeeding and started sleeping through the night to try and concieve, she was 22 months when we started trying.

On the nappy bag front, we got one with our Cosatto buggy and then I used the free one Boots gave away with Pampers nappies. Since starting potty training I have progressed to a rucksack as I needed to carry more clothing. The bag is not so important, whether it fits everything you need whilst having enough small pockets to make things easy to find with one hand is crucial though.

louby86 · 13/12/2011 20:47

That's made me feel better Zhen if it is a girl we'll just work with the blue now Grin

QueenFee · 13/12/2011 23:56

My seconds room was already blue and I wasn't going to repaint so I just planned on putting up daisys if it was a girl. It was a boy but they have swapped rooms and dd now has a blue room with blue tinkerbell fairies duvet.
I have a 2yr gap a 3yr gap and this will be 2yr 8mth. I think there is an argument for all age gaps, big familys, only children.

littlemonkeybix · 14/12/2011 07:49

We were at pips 1st gig the week after we found out i was preggo!! had tickets booked for Transmission at Jodrell Bank, so went... was fab!

melliebobs · 14/12/2011 08:49

Concert was awesome!!! Pip loved the songs that started/ended with loads of drums and bass guitar. She's gonna end up a lil metal chick like her dad. I'll have to re-address that issue n start playing her some smiths/morrissey/stone roses!!!!!!

Xmas markets today. Gonna have a glühwine and strudel

OddEyes · 14/12/2011 10:37

Morning all!
Still hacking away with blocked sinuses - oww! But feeling a wee bit better.
Just joined Pampers, if you join before the 32nd week, i think, you get a box of free nappies and vouchers sent to you.
Joined boots, Any one recommend any other places to join and get freebies and vouchers?

OddEyes · 14/12/2011 10:47

glad concert was good. With ds went to a sufjan concert in amsterdam, was so good, but so loud that I wrapped my tummy in jumpers and coats for fear of deafining him. With dd went to a Bon Iver concert which was really far to loud for me never mind bump, had to leave for a few songs. There were folk there though with their newborns, suffice to say that they didn't get to enjoy much of the concert either - stood out on the stairs with me!

louby86 · 14/12/2011 10:55

Morning! I got vouchers for johnsons wipes from the tesco baby club if that's any good, and someone mentioned a free packet of nappies from the asda one. I can't think of any more, I've not been awake that long Blush
