1 more week of school! Though that means I am sitting here marking mock exam papers all day while the children make christmas decorations for the Christmas tree with their Dad, hate missing out! Xmas Sad

Will definatly be partaking in some Wine, have a wee drop now and then.

30+2
9 weeks and 5 days say my iphone. i don't like the days, seems like a bigger number for some reason, is that silly? Anyways I am thinking twill be 7 weeks and 5 days as will be meeting this little girl two weeks early.

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 10/12/2011 17:22

Poor you OddEyes Xmas Sad, please take a break to help put them up though. I am glad that I have swapped with DH in being SAHP now so I do not have the marking load to worry about. Definitely pour yourself a small drop of Wine.

Sugar80 · 10/12/2011 18:07

11 weeks to go here. Though I arrived a week early apparently, so who knows... Madam has certainly increased her activity levels in the last week!

I will be drinking some wine over Christmas. I've had one or two small glasses a week since around 12 weeks, so will be continuing with this.

Think I've overdone it today. I feel like a broken wreck. Meant to be raining all day tomorrow, which gives me a good excuse to stay inside, write Christmas cards and wrap presents... although the other half is trying to convince me to go to the mall... on a rainy Sunday close to Christmas. Eurgh.

babycarmen · 10/12/2011 18:27

8 weeks and 1 day til D day. And not even got the cot yet. Or steriliser. And only like, 1 pack of nappies... Were baby shopping as soon as Xmas is out the way! I keep stressing over it.

Took DD to SantaLand today, it was really good, only a fiver to get in and she got given loads of wee toys and sweets by the 'Elfs' as we went round the castle, a prezzie from Santa, got to decorate a gingerbread man in the kitchen with Mrs Claus, and see the ponies, pigs, ducks, ride on a pedal train in the garden amongst other things! But i am well and truely shattered right now, struggling to keep my eyes open. Xfactor and wrapping presents tonight. Yawwwwn......

phlossie · 10/12/2011 19:56

The Mall on Sunday sounds like a bad plan, Sugar. I hate that place. Cabot Circus is better...

9 weeks and 1 day (plus around 10 days because I go overdue)! I'm in denial still.

We're about to exchange on the house we're buying, DH is decorating our house like a maniac so it's ready to sell, both DCs have majorly high temperatures and I've got my maternity cover shadowing me at work tomorrow! So much to think about.

I fell asleep watching Planet Dinosaur earlier - literally if I'm not up and moving, I doze off like an elderly lady. And DH says I was snoring last night!

melliebobs · 10/12/2011 21:16

4d scan photos are on my profiles for the nosey amongst us :-p that's providing i've done it right.

Me and DH went to Matalan and Sainsburies to look at baby girl clothes today. They are RUBBISH! I hate it, pink pink and more pink. Not until the age of 9 months are they allowed to wear purple or even green! lol Roll on boxing day and i'll be outside NEXT at 5am cos there's loads of nice stuff in there of the none pink variety but i begrudge paying full whack when she will grow out of itin a few weeks.

Just need
Pram
Carseat
Changing Mat
General Changing stuff - wipes etc
Bedding

The list goes on really. Although i know my mum has got me a Pink Lining changing bag for xmas :-)

CoffeeOne · 10/12/2011 21:38

Mellie congratulations on your little girl!

babycarmen I also haven't had a drink this pregnancy, but will be having a glass of wine or too over Christmas, I'm sure all the food will soak it up Grin

hermione I'm right there with you being well aware that I'm pregnant, but fully in denial that I'll have a baby in approx 10 weeks! I know me and DP won't know what has hit us, we're living our lives as normal at the moment so really hard to appreciate how different it's going to be.

I'm knackered today, more so than usual! Had a trek round Manchester Christmas markets yesterday which was fun but hard work. Today I've been painting baby's wardrobe which is more difficult than it sounds!

30 weeks today!

woowa · 10/12/2011 21:39

oh man i'm tired and have been on feet all day and they ACHE. Having about 15 teens round for end of year christmas party tomorrow night...MADNESS, so much cooking and organising to do. All fun, but not so much with toddler and bump in tow.

I can't WAIT to give birth now!!

32+4 (that's 52 days til D-day!!)

Crazybit · 10/12/2011 22:39

Sugar-You're brave if you go to the Mall tomorrow. My worst nightmare tbh!

Phlossie-Exciting about exchanging!

Mellie-Aw fab pics :)

BabyC-SantaLand sounds fab.

Deardear-DD doesn't really go on one, she just doesn't listen to what I tell her and answers me back but it's usually me stropping at her and she keeps quiet but frustrates me as it really stresses me and she couldn't give a toss. 14 days and OH back to help take the strain..

re the headlice, have coated us all in tea tree conditioner and combed through, left it on for the night and will hopefully have suffocated the little feckers, also used a nutty gritty comb so hopefully got the eggs out. DD1 and I had a couple of eggs each and DD2 had nithing so hopefully we're winning. Where do I get neem oil from?/

Sorry for any missed personals!

Sugar80 · 11/12/2011 08:02

I've got a thicko question about baby clothes. Don't laugh.

You know the little t-shirts with poppers? Like short sleeved baby grows but with no legs? What are they for? Are they just an extra layer to put under the baby grow/ proper outfit?

Starting to make my list of essentials I need to get - clothes wise I have the following:
Newborn baby grows (x6? is that enough?)
Mittens
Hat
Cardigan(s)
Some sort of coat type outfit!

Pretty dresses and things like that are not on the essentials list, but will undoubtably be purchased!!

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 11/12/2011 08:36

Love the pics Mellie, the ubiquitous pink drives me mad too! :)

BabyC sounds like you had fun at SantaLand.

Woowa you brave woman, good luck with the teens!

Sugar, it is always best to put children in a vest (baby version is t-shirt thing with poppers), especially in cold weather, as the layer close to the skin provides a layer of trapped air that acts as insulation against the cold. For our babies this will be important as they are being born in winter.

I had DD in the summer so once she got older she spent certain days just in the popper vest as it was 30+ degrees in her room. To know how warm your baby is check their belly, if it is warm they are ok, if hot they may need a layer removed/be unwell, if cool add a layer. Babies cannot regulate their temperatures like we can, so when indoors/on buses etc... make sure you check and remove layers if neccessary.

You may want more than one pair of mittens and more than one hat if you don't have already, they tend to go awol.

Don't buy too much newborn size until you see how big baby is, my DD being 8lb was only in newborn stuff for a week before moving to 0-3 months!

If you buy cute outfits go for one in 0-3 months (they poo so often that any fiddly outfit involving tights is a no no, plus until belly button is healed loose fitting items should be worn) and several in 3-6 or 6-12 month age.

Have you got muslins?

babycarmen · 11/12/2011 10:23

Sugar Agree with what Zhen said about vests, theyre quite important and you'll find they help keep the nappy in place too!!

Its so hard to know what to buy, even second time round. Everyone says dont get too much size 'newborn' but my DD was only 6lb2 when born and was still in newborn when she was 10 weeks old. Better having bigger stuff though, would rather the stuff was too big then too small! Also, i managed without muslins with DD but can see how they can be useful so have bought some this time. I just used a clean tea towel over my shoulder for burping etc, DD wasnt a sicky baby at all so it didnt matter. I still need to get baby grows, and scratch mits, and another cardigan, and maybe an outfit or 2.

Sugar80 · 11/12/2011 11:55

Thank you!! It's SO hard to know what I'm going to need. It's actually making my head spin. Muslins are on the list...

Actually had a funny conversation with DP about these while looking at them in Ikea, saying we'd need to get them..
"What are they?"
"Muslin squares - you use them to catch sick I think"
"Isn't that a bit racist?"
"MusliN!!!"

We have a lot to learn!!!

hermionejgranger · 11/12/2011 15:37

melliebobs your 4d pics are fantastic!

I've kind of lost track of things we still need. Must go in the garage and get the stuff out that we put in there when we were given it (steriliser - although planning on BF it won't hurt to have it clean and available - some toys and other bits and bats). I've washed the pram fabric bits so at some point will need to reassemble that - and of course practise putting it up/down etc so I don't look like a prat when doing it for real!

Oh I have remembered that I need to get a moses basket stand. Were given the basket but need something to put it on. Hadn't even thought about that. Online shopping here we come...

deardear · 11/12/2011 17:06

Just shown D1 your 4D pics melliebobs. She is amazed!

Have had a day on the sofa today - think I over did it yesterday! Hubby at work so don't feel guilty. Tea is nearly cooked - homegrown lamb shoulder marinated in mint and been on low in the oven since about 1pm and justbtook it. Having it with roasters, savoy cabbage, peas and carrots and red onion gravy yum yum!

Watching nickel backs progress in amazement and a certain sense of denial that in about 11 weeks time that will be me. Yikes!

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 11/12/2011 19:50

Me too deardear! Riveting stuff, have been following for the last 3 threads, am so glad she is finally getting her HB.

Not sure I will be able to post at 8cms, 11 weeks seems such a short time away all of a sudden

notcitrus · 11/12/2011 20:22

Ug. BAck to the nausea, diarrhoea and exhaustion. Going to be a fun chat with my manager tomorrow.
30 weeks today - still don't really believe I'm going to get another baby, let alone a healthy one. Probably won't until she's 6 months or so! Have pysch appt for just after Christmas which should be a barrel of laughs.

Ds remained in babygros until over 6 months, so a pile of them and vests and a couple cardies/coats/a snowsuit/hats should suffice. Also blankets - add to baby as needed.

Assuming dc2 is more average than ds, I guess I'll have to deal with more vomit and drool this time, but hopefully she'll sleep better...

Kayano · 11/12/2011 20:56

Sophie has been beating my insides today. All day...

At least my dad finally got to feel her kicking. It only took 7 months. Bless him he is so excited!!! Bear I love my family so much

Kayano · 11/12/2011 21:13

Also I had a dream about Sophie last night! She was here (safely thank god) but DH was blaming me for her being ginger!

We both have brown hair but he said it was all my fault because I was adopted and therefore could have had an entirely ginger family and we would not know!

I was Confused

I love red hair it always looks amazing IMO !

Stupid dream. Think my subconscious is playing up because I have been thinking about genetics a lot due to the adoption. What if there is huntingtons in the family and I have unknowingly condemned the family? Confused stupid pregnancy brain!!! Gah!!!! Hmm

flapjack77 · 11/12/2011 21:13

I've had a sofa day too deardear tho did manage to help DH and DS decorate the tree Xmas Smile dh is going away with work tomorrow and wont be back til fri pm so making the most of being able to put my feet up - DS is like the duracell bunny!

Hope you feel better soon notcitrus

woowa · 11/12/2011 22:53

kayano, I think the chances of huntingtons or anything similar are REALLY low, try not to worry too much. I guess you've decided never to find out about them?

sugar - are you having a girl? I may be alone, but i found dresses on DD were compltely impractical and pointless, and didn't even really look nice until about 6 months! Babygros really are wonderful and you can get v cute ones. Babies really do poo or puke on anything and everything. DO you have blankets etc for sleeping under?

Youth all gone home and house tidy, I am SOOO tired but quite wired now and will find it hard to sleep, especially as bump is getting SOOO uncomfortable in bed now. Tomorrow I will be mostly SITTING DOWN!! Although sadly, the teens haven't left me with enough leftovers so I will have to cook. PLus it's DH's birthday on thursday and I need to get a present... so will need to leave house at some point before then. sigh.

woowa · 11/12/2011 22:53

32+5

hermionejgranger · 12/12/2011 07:19

Yay nickelbabe has had her little girl! Very scary to think in a few short weeks that'll be us.

kayano I know it's pretty pointless my saying this, but please don't worry about things - don't forget that your baby is part you, part DH so will inherit from both of you (just imagine what baby will look like pushing a hoover Xmas Wink)

Day off work today. And 30wk GP appointment later. I've been thinking about it all weekend and I think I'm going to ask him to sign me off til Christmas - gives me a chance to get caught up on sleep (even if it is during the day) and rest my aching back and hips. Hopefully I won't get the guilts. My work stuff is in reasonable order so the urgent stuff someone else can pick up pretty easily, I think.

woowa you are a braver woman than I...best you have a lovely restful day today to recover!

Re: clothes - I've just got stacks of babygros and t-shirt vesty things. (Didn't realise quite how many until I put it all in the chest of drawers at the weekendXmas Shock) but at least I won't be panicking about running low. Have packed Bert's birthday bag too - put in 3 babygros, 6 vests, those 2 little packs of nappies from the Pampers gift box thingy, wipes, nappy bags, warm suit, hat, scratch mitts and a little cardigan. Oh and a towel with a corner bit to put Bert's head in. Have I missed anything? I'm planning on getting a couple of cartons of ready mix formula just in case.

30+3 ...9+4 to go!!!

glowfrog · 12/12/2011 07:27

Oh my God - when will the hormones stop??? I have been feeling utterly miserable for days. Spent half of yesterday hiding in the bedroom and having self-piteous crying sessions and just wanting to throw things around. Spending 1st (and last!) Xmas on our own with DH in years and I'm dreading it now.

Trying to feel differently but failing so far. Just repeating to myself it'll pass. I certainly hope so for the poor critter's sake.

deardear · 12/12/2011 08:00

Hermione don't forget baby bath stuff - last time they told me john sons was too strong so I used boots baby bath instead
