glowfrog I've felt exactly like that and I hate it because I'm normally a cheery girl. Hormones have a lot to answer for IMO. Chin up...(and other bracing words)...I think everyone's feeling the same to a greater or lesser extent!

deardear I thought we were supposed to use just water to start with?! OMG what do I need to get? Just bubbly bath?

melliebobs · 12/12/2011 09:35

THANK GOD!!!!!!!!

babycarmen · 12/12/2011 10:19

Last week of pre-school for DD though thank god, apart from her christmas party and play next week. Also, my scan is on Monday Xmas Grin cant wait! Although looks like il be going alone :/

Tmi but my urine was really dark this morning :S like really dark brown, kinda freaky. If its still weird later il get it checked though.

32 weeks today Xmas Shock

littlemonkeybix · 12/12/2011 11:12

hormonal crank alert!

Why have mouse traps, if they sit on the side unused.... why have sonic devises.... in a box?!?!?!

Mouse shit in the lounge this morning.... usually they are confined to the Kitchen... the fecking JOY... Xmas Angry

DP got it in the neck.... the traps WILL be down EVERY night now, and the sonic jobbies are being left for me to place after work.

He's so FECKING LAZY in my hormonal addled mind right now... I could happily kick him right in the groinal hernia right now.... but that's another FECKING STORY! AAAAAAAAAARGH

Hernia.... diagnosed in AUGUST... referral letter received IN AUGUST... Tried to book an appointment LAST WEEKEND... reply = NO APPOINTMENTS Xmas Hmm

I am livid...

Plus I struggled of the fecking FUTON this morning... huffing and puffing while he lay there, not daring to comment that I'd disturbed him... He's off today to fix his broken car. He's just called as he's walking back from the garage, I asked what he's doing today.... hovering and mopping in the lounge and kitchen.... you betcha you are! bath cutting will be finished this week. I have banned him from getting a tree until it's done. He looked sulky, but I will not have Xmas frivolity while that feckng bath is in MY BEDROOM!

I think I might need a coffee at my desk now.... a real one... WITH PATE IN!

littlemonkeybix · 12/12/2011 11:12

PS 28 weeks today!!

OddEyes · 12/12/2011 12:00

Signed off work for the week, the last week of school. Feel really poo, not just for having massive chest and sinus infection but for adding to everyone elses pressure too and letting kids down :(
Think am going to have to get me some tena too as coughing is obviously to stressful for my pelvic floor!
Miserable, miserable :(

OddEyes · 12/12/2011 12:05

Sorry! Think tis just the point we are at I guess.

Sorry for the mice, littlemonkey, hope they disappear soon. Agree with coffee and pate!
30+4

littlemonkeybix · 12/12/2011 12:12

awww sorry you're feeling crappidy oddeyes... You have my full sympathy... as does anyone suffering ills at the mo.

I am desperately trying to NOT get colds and illnesses at the min, as if it hits my sinuses I'm done for!!

Pip is kicking off big style today.... having some sort of fight with my bellybutton I suspect... constant for about 10 mins! Just heated my scouse for lunch.... hopefully gurgly digestion noises will calm it!

Mmmmm scouse....

littlemonkeybix · 12/12/2011 12:50

Can I have a post lunch snooze now please?! I require 1 duvet, 2 pillows and 1 eye mask.... not asking for much am I??!!

Sugar80 · 12/12/2011 13:01

I've genuinely been considering converting a cupboard in work into my afternoon snooze area...

Thanks for the tips on clothing - baby grows it is! At the risk of boring everyone to tears, here's my full list of stuff I/we need to buy pre-baby! We already have a changing mat, play mat, bottles, steriliser, breast pump, pram/car seat and 2nd hand moses basket.

Newborn baby grows (x6?)
Newborn vests (x6)
Mittens
Hats
Cardigan(s)/ hoodies
Some sort of coat type outfit!
Moses basket mattress?
Sheets
Blankets
Sling
Bouncy chair
Nappies
Baby wipes
Sudocream
Baby bath wash
Nursing bras
Breast pads
Nightie for hospital
Toys?

EsmeWeatherwax · 12/12/2011 13:24

Hermione no need for baby bubble bath etc, they only need water for the first while. Although it's really cute to put them in a wee bubble bath, but seriously, I wouldn't bother.

Sugar you might want to think about taking a couple of nighties to hospital, one for labour and one for staying in, if ou should happen to be transferred to the ward. The labour one can get pretty manky. And make any hospital wear (nightie, slippers, jammies) dark coloured! One of the best bits of advice I was given, there's lots of blood about! Don't forget maxi-super-duper maternity towels too.

And also don't worry too much about toys, they don't pay much attention to them for the first six weeks/few months, so one or two is ok.

Queen of overbuying here, swore I wouldn't do it too much with this baby, already got far too much! Was a bit of a pain having to start again with boy clothes, I have so many beautiful girly babygros! I was obsessed with them, think I bought out next's entire stock every three months. Fortunately boys aren't quite so pretty, so mostly got basic ones this time. But, oh dear, I can't walk past a pair of dungarees without buying them, haha, I do love a baby in dungarees! Especially these and these!

notcitrus · 12/12/2011 14:23

Lansinoh cream for helping breastfeeding.
Don't need any product for baths, maybe a tiny dab of shampoo once they have enough hair to need washing.
Small bits of cloth worked a lot better than cotton wool for washing nappy area - I chopped up lots of old brushed cotton PJs and sheets.
Large cheap pants and maternity pads? Oh the glamour... If your partner is a bit larger than you they may have ancient soft boxers you could steal, which would then get binned!

Got a bit of tummy upset on the weekend so all my pills didn't work, so now have side effects and lack of effect all over again... and Thumpy has taken up standing on my cervix and practising tap-dancing and kick-boxing, making me jump in the air! On the plus side, MrNC has now suggested Rebecca as a middle name. I held out for nearly a minute before pointing out that was my first choice in the first place. :)

littlemonkeybix · 12/12/2011 15:14

Mellie... who are you on FB (hangs head in shame for forgetting who everyone is!) I cant find your 3D pics, and want a nosey Xmas Wink

better than poxy work at any rate!

deardear · 12/12/2011 15:57

Monkey click on mellies name on here and you can view her pics through her profile :)

littlemonkeybix · 12/12/2011 16:05

oooh thanks deardear... I am a total colander of knowledge at the min.... Xmas Grin

littlemonkeybix · 12/12/2011 16:07

Awww they're FAB Xmas Grin jealous now cos we aren't having a 3d scan...

phlossie · 12/12/2011 16:11

It's not just you, woowa - dresses on babies are hopeless. I found that they scrunched up above DD's tummy, and then once she was crawling she used to get her knees stuck in them and fall over. She looks gorgeous in a dress now, though!

Sorry that so many of you are feeling rubbish. I feel great! But I think I'm the only one! I'm quite energised, sleeping well and not too achy. My DS isn't very well at all. He insisted on going to school today, but I had to pick him early. Poor little man. I'll tell you, having a sick LO is one of the most miserable things in the world.

melliebobs · 12/12/2011 17:17

Oo monkey was about to say I ain't the Facebook group but u seem to have sussed it! We only had a 4d one cos we didn't know what we were having. But now I know mega excited and finally start to get organised!

Got cot bumper and bedding last night off amazon. And just bin TK Maxx n bought pips winter coat/pram suit. I'm so chuffed with it I even want my own grown up version. it's a roxy one too so I'm well jel!

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 12/12/2011 17:36

Oh OddEyes sorry you are feeling crap too, think I might be with you on the Tena front, coughed so hard last night I had to change my pyjama trousers Blush. I am a week on and starting to feel much better, but still very tired as cough keeping me up all night. Hope you feel better soon.

Another crotch kicker here, DD2 has just discovered the joys of kicking mummy down below.

Went to GP today for 28 week check a week late due to having 'flu. All well, bump right size and heartbeat sounding fine. Plus got some stuff for the dreaded 'arse grapes' as one MNetter calls them, so all good.

Hope your DS feels better soon Phlossie and that everyone else stays well, these winter bugs are no fun.

Kayano · 12/12/2011 18:36

I know lots of people this baby is their last, but for those wanting more... What age gap are you thinking of having? I want to go back to work in October and then start ttc %232 in jan or feb Confused

louby86 · 12/12/2011 18:40

Kayano we were thinking the same as you if everything goes to plan! Go back to work October time and then start trying again in the new year after that

QueenFee · 12/12/2011 19:23

I agree about not buying loads of toys they are not interested.
Anyone buying a sling, moby Kari me or other stretchy wrap are warm comfy and great for newborns. Also good for skin to skin.
Something they said in our last bf workshop not to put your best smellies in for yourself. Babies need to know what mum usually smells like.
Last time I resorted to bathing alfie in the sink in hosp!
Dont buy sudacream, you get loads of sample pots wait to see if you use it. I find other ones better, but dont use creams at all really so still have sudecream tubs from yrs ago.
A cheap fleece blanket cut up makes great wet wipes for newborns. Google cloth wipes/ reusable nappies loads of info about what to put in the water.
Baby grows with flip over sleeves are great, i find mits come off a lot!

Muslins, i have thousands they have so many uses. I never went out without a few!

Labour nighties do get manky...

Nursing bras, your boobs change size a lot in the first few weeks so save your money for nice ones for a couple of months (i'm wanting some hotmilk bras) get some mothercare/debenhams cheapies initially

My 2p worth feel free to ignore me lol

30+5
Also feeling pants but sick of hearing myself whinge

EsmeWeatherwax · 12/12/2011 19:27

Kayano I'm one of the this is the last baby brigade, but I've had 3 babies in four years, so I'd definitely go with your plan of keeping them closer together! It's reall great when they're close in age, murder at first mind you, but mine play really well just now, and have lots in common, and can play with much the same age group toys etc. Plus I'd hate to get out of the swing of having a newborn and then have to return to it years later, don't think I could handle the shock!

EsmeWeatherwax · 12/12/2011 19:31

Oh yeah Queenfee would definitely second a nice stretchy wrap, I've got a peanut shell one, tis very good indeed, I couldn't afford a Moby at the time as I remember.

Next babygros have flip over sleeves (I sound like a sales woman for Next don't I? They were the only clothes that fitted my giant kids!) as do Mothercare ones.

Xavielli · 12/12/2011 20:18

Yes yes yes to flip over sleeve sleepsuits, muslin cloths, dark Pjs/towels, lansinoh. Lip balm is also great to have in the hospital.

No no no to johnsons in all forms, always brought mine out in a rash. Dentinox cradle cap shampoo is lovely for when they are a few weeks old. I hate the smell of sudocrem. I don't tend to use barrier cream but always have a tube of metanium for teething bottoms!

Re: age gaps, my first two are 15 months apart and I love it. Hard work in the beginning with all the nappies etc. then I had a 4.5 year gap, which has also been wonderful as the older two love to help out and can do most things for themselves. Very pleased to be having a 15 month gap again this time. Having seen the relationship between ds1 and dd, I am glad that (fingers crossed) ds2 and this one will be similar.
