Well had crap sleep! Joshua in bed at 8:00. Up at 10:30 crying thought it was his teeth because everything else was ok and fed him and back to bed. up at 1:45 crying. Spent ages stroking head, offering dummy, shhhing and he fell asleep. Me asleep at 2:30ish. Joshua up at 3:90 crying!!! Back to sleep again at 3:40 ish. Back up wanting food at 5:40!!! Back to bed and up at 8:20.
Matchsticks please. :(

Iwish · 30/01/2012 11:54

Sorry meant to say gave him calpol because I thought it was his teeth then boob and bed.

KLou111 · 30/01/2012 12:06

Aww sounds like a bit of a bad night :( I wonder why he's up so much? Have you phoned the hv (I know they're crap most if the time but may be worth a call)
It was the frequent waking when my hv said feed him rice. Up to you, but might be worth a try tomorrow. It helped Euan heaps!!

Don't really want to say it after that, but I think the sleepsuits have worked. 3 nights 7-7, dummy in til 8 :) back to normal thank god. Think the pressure round his belly from his pjs must irritate him, bad enough a nappy I suppose!
Just had his first full meal in his high chair :)
Am still bloody aching :(

Iwish · 30/01/2012 13:40

If it was food he wanted I would give him some rice but he doesn't. I think he just wanted to cuddle with me some of the time. Tried to give him a tiny bit of mash last night when we were eating and he screamed at it and spat it out lol! I'm like a zombie today :(

Glad Euan us back to sleeping well. He must feel cosier in the sleepsuits. Did he like sitting in his high chair?

KLou111 · 30/01/2012 14:18

Aw poor thing :( lol at the mash!
Re rice, Euan wasn't waking for food, just waking for attention like Joshie so may be worth a try :) (thinking about it though, it was around that point I switched to formula too, so that may have settled him better too)

Euan seemed to like his chair. Sat him in it for 5 mins before food, then 20 after and he seemed to like being on our 'level'. He was only in it 10 mins the other day.

lizandlulu · 30/01/2012 17:55

ahh poor ypu iwish didnt the calpol knock him out? here s hoping for a better night tonight

klou good that euan likes his chair, i do think they like it in general as the can see more as opposed to the floor.

violet has just been sick on me and it smelt like blue cheeseHmm

KLou111 · 30/01/2012 18:12

Eeeeeew Liz I hate blue cheese at the best of times! What she been eating?

Well Euan just had his tea in his chair, and he was fine again, so think the transition is complete :)

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 30/01/2012 19:39

she had petit filous at nursery with her dinner and a pot of orange and yoghurt dessert with her tea. must ferment of something in her stomach! sounds lovely doesnt it

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 31/01/2012 19:33

Yum yum liz blue cheese :o

Good that euan likes his highchair klou, poppy likes hers too, after food i chuck a load of toys on the tray and leave her to it for half an hour while i get on with some jobs.

Lol iwish I've never heard of a reaction like that to mash potato :o

The dog is ok, although he won't climb the stairs so poor simon has to carry him up and down to bed, can't leave him downstairs otherwise he'll just bark and we can't ignore because it's bloody loud and we have an elderly neighbour and poppy!

KLou111 · 31/01/2012 19:44

Aw bless him melly, I'm sure he'll settle in soon :)
I give Euan toys at the table once he's finished, but he's in a stage of throwing everything on the floor at the mo and wanting us to pick it up, cheeky fella :)

Well, Euey tried lentils today, they did not go down well at all!! Will try again in a few days. Going to make chicken and veg gratin tomorrow, sounds bloody lovely!!

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 31/01/2012 19:50

ohh can i come for tea klou? sounds goooood. violet chucks her toys on the floor too, i must pick them up 20 times a day

why wont he go up stairs melly?

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 31/01/2012 20:27

Greyhounds in general don't 'do' stairs. As they've lived in kennels all their lives they have never seen them so don't know what to do. Also, as they are so gangly, it must be pretty damn scary going headfirst down a full flight of stairs.

KLou111 · 31/01/2012 20:38

Gratin for Euan ha ha!!! Rob asked me to make enough for us all lol!
Did violet sleep well last night?

Oh tongue check went great, Dr said how lovely Euan is (proud face) such a smiley thing. Didn't weigh him. Said tongue perfect and will have no probs :)
Went to McDonald's after, haven't been for aaaaaaaages, but went in and got Euan a balloon. God you'd think we had given him the winning lottery ticket!! Easily pleased :)

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 31/01/2012 21:46

glad all is ok with his tongueSmile what did he do with his balloon?

violet was same os usual, 6 till 7.15, actuall she went at 6.20 as her dad put her to bed and he wanted to spend abit of time with her after work

KLou111 · 01/02/2012 15:23

Balloon in his room :) now I have the stick, I can reuse it cos we've got loads of balloons! Didn't even think to give one to him tbh.

Well the gratin went down a treat! Euan loved it. Didn't even mush it up, still all chopped veg which was great. Gave him weetabix this morning with banana, he loved that too. Also custard for desert :) shouldn't really give him more than one new thing a day in case he has a reaction to one thing. But he seems fine.
Love giving him new things, must be so boring eating the same.

Iwish · 01/02/2012 19:11

Hiiiiii all!!

How are we all? Been for a nice healthy walk for a hour today.... And ruined it by getting sausage and chips from the chippy on the way home lol

I got my contented little baby book of weaning book today. Can't wait to get cooking lol.

Iwish · 01/02/2012 20:02

Aaaargh I can't make my mind up!! I keep thinking that I will start bottle feeding Joshua when we start weaning. But then I feed him and change my mind again! he just looks so happy at the boob. And he makes me laugh because his little mouth looks like an algi eater stuck to the side of a fish tank lol.
He feeds v often during the day so thought id start formula then and I can maybe pop out for a few hours. Or me and nick could go out for lunch....

Hhhhheeeelllpppp!!

lizandlulu · 01/02/2012 20:32

tricky one iwish it would be nice for you to be able to go out for a few hours, but then what if he doesnt take the boob as well? i dontk now, klou will be along soon to advise i hope! she knows more about this stuff than meGrin and i know what you mean about the sucky thing Grin lulu did it ALOT when she was a baby, but violet doesnt do it half so much, shame cause its really cuteGrin

the lady paid for both blankets today!!! YEYYYYYYYYY

klou you are doing so so well with his eating. violet is messing about with her savoury stuff. at nursery she always has stuff with gravy mixed in (they said its low salt gravy so ok for babs) and they say she wolfs it down. so far i have only given her jars, lots of different sorts, similar, but different, and she always faffs about with ehr, blowing bubbles, spitting it out, and wafting about in her chair so not a great deal ends up in her mouth. yet if its her pudding, she sits there, still as anything mouth open ready for it to get it!!! grrrrrrrrr

and shes been miserable again, had calpol out this morning, she always seems to be miserable in the mornings when i am out, then happy as larry when we are at homeHmm

Iwish · 01/02/2012 20:49

I was thinking about completely FF and no boob at all. I would slowly cut 1 feed every couple of days if poss to avoid sorr boobs and mastitus. I think he would be ok with a bit of boob because I use nipple shields all the time so its a little like a teat.
It's actually driving me crazy, I sit debating about it when doing the night feeds so I can't bloody get back to sleep!
If I did ff he might sleep longer too and go longer during the day. He currently feeds every 2 hours during the day. Goes to bed at 7:30, feeds at 10:30pm and 4:00am then again around 8:00am.
The mouth thing is so cute isn't it!! I love watching him.

Maybe try some of whatever they make at nursery and see if she's ok with it. I'm pretty sure that cow and gate make baby gravy.

lizandlulu · 01/02/2012 22:29

but if you did ff exclusivley, would you regret stopping breast feeding?? its like catch 22 isnt it!

Iwish · 02/02/2012 10:14

I'm not sure liz that's what's making the decision hard. I think I might have to see what happens when I start weaning, maybe I could just do the morning feed and the bedtime feed.
Bless him he strokes my boob when he's feeding. Or covers his mouth and a bit of b

KLou111 · 02/02/2012 10:25

Moooorning!!
Well, must admit iwish I was in a bit of a different situation, I swapped cos Euan wouldn't suck much on the give milk, so for me it was the best thing I did changing to ff. I still did/do most of the feeds, but it was so nice that Rob, or the parents could. Also I know how much he is eating. He didn't sleep totally straight away, so think that's a bit if a myth, but he ate less frequently, then after a few weeks slept. The rice really helped though.
Back on later, must dash x

KLou111 · 02/02/2012 13:28

Well, scanned through before, now prop read :)
Not sure the answer to the savoury thing Liz but apparently jars are more bland, so that might be why violet is loving the gravy, cos its tasty :)

Back to the boob, why are you thinking of stopping iwish? If it suits you more, I would do it. When I stopped, it was because Euan wasn't sucking properly, yet was starving! I used to cry and cry as he wouldn't feed, and he was so heavy too so it was back breaking. It's totally a personal choice though. I felt 100% happier when I gave up, but you are happy doing it whereas I wasn't and Euan wasn't.

Just been swimming, he loves it more every week. Fast asleep now!
Oh and the digger man in woohoo!

OP posts:
Iwish · 02/02/2012 14:05

It's mostly for selfish reasons klou it's because he feeds every 2 hours in the day so I can't go anywhere without him and if we go out together I need to keep finding somewhere to feed so don't get much done. not that I want to leave him just yet but I'd like the option.
I might totally change my mind when I introduce a bit of rice and decide bf is ok.

Aww bless him. Are you doing proper lessons or just taking him to the pool? We are taking Joshua on Saturday again.
