I've just got him onto cauliflower and broccoli, that's them, sweet potato, swede, carrot, green bean, courgette now aswell. Not keen on green bean though.
Id try and make it yourself if you have time as Euan isn't keen on the jars but likes homemade. Also can watch what he is eating. it does take a while to do but he has weeks of food in the freezer.
I'd try some pureed carrot melly with poppy, that's a firm fave in our house :)

Got to make chicken stock today with the carcass from yesterday, that's the next thing. Then its proper protein meals from mid next month :)

klou i do keep meaning to make it fresh, but always have something else to do! shes started having lunch at nursery, so for 3 days a week shes having fresh. she just wouldnt eat it at room temp yesterday. sweets stuff she will eat warm or cold.
when we went out for tea on sat i gave her some ice cream. literally only about a teasoppn full in total. just a few tiny tiny bits on my spoon and she was smacking her lips away like shed never tasted anything so good!

melly when did you start to give finger food? and what do you give her? hard stuff or just soft stuff?

i cant believe i have forgotten all of this from having lulu, i have started to write a diary as my memory is so bad andi dont want to forget whats happened when

KLou111 · 23/01/2012 14:21

Lol Liz :) I know what you mean about ice cream, apparently when I was given it for the first time, I had a lick of my dads and ended up having the whole thing!! Euan LOVES yoghurt, and he doesn't care if it's cold! Haven't tried ice cream yet, think it's got eggs in it so he can't have it yet I don't think.
God there's so much to remember!! I started to write a diary when Euan was born as I kept one for the whole of my pregnancy. It lasted about 5 weeks lol! I've got the important things down though :)
I bet you are so busy at the mo with work and all, how are you finding it?
I used the jars when we went back to the Midlands, and I'll use them if we go on hol. Not booked yet, trying to sort our house out for going up for sale. We want to do the viewings too, so I guess we can't book anything now til it's sold, gutted :(
Re how warm, Euan has about 5-6 ice cube sized mixed veg, which is about a tablespoon each cube. I put it in the micro when at home for 20 secs, mix it, then another 5 secs, NAUGHTY!!

Don't worry about it klou I was in a bad mood, massively pissed off with my dad. It's been a month since christmas and poppy has still not recieved her present off him, and he keeps flirting with my 21yo best friend via FB Hmm Angry
Poppy hates carrot in any way, shape or form, tried them mashed, raw sticks, cooked sticks (these 2 are finger foods), mashed with swede/potato. She won't eat any of it.

liz she eats quartered slices of bread, little rolled up cheese sandwiches, sliced teacakes, breadsticks, slices of apple (although she just knaws on them because they're hard), orange segments, the very occasional biscuit or half a cup cake as a treat (with no icing), halved yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, milk soaked weetabix. Basically anything that she can get hold of. We started giving her finger food at 6 months.

lizandlulu · 23/01/2012 17:42

doesnt it piss you off when people say they have got you things, then they never turn up. i would much rather someone say to me 'i havent got anything for you' than for them to say oh i have got you a present for the baby, then spend the next 6 months avoiding you!

klou works quite good, i am in a routine and like it, but quite hard to keep on top of housework.

and just to keep thing crap for me, got another electric bill today. from 6th november to 15th jan. £1600 Shock how is this possible!!!

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 23/01/2012 18:01

What pisses me off more is I saw my dad the tuesday before christmas and gave him my little sisters present! He texted me xmas eve saying he was going to bring card and present but he was ill. I haven't heard from him since. Not even a christmas day text.

How the hell do you manage to get these bills? There isn't something plugged in and switched on all the time that you've forgotten about and it's in some weird obscure place is there?

KLou111 · 23/01/2012 18:02

Omg that is impossible Liz!! Wtf?!?! We pay bills on 8 houses with 4 tenants each, and combined they are not that!! There is something seriously wrong with your meter!! Did you sort that last bill???

Have you tried mixing pureed veg with puree fruit melly? I know it sounds gross, but if you try it, she may take it mixed with apple, then gradually increase the carrot/decrease the fruit :) I know she's on mash/harder stuff now, but might be worth a go to get her used to the taste.

OP posts:
SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 23/01/2012 18:03

Oh I forgot to mention, he's always in gainsborough at DW gym, and he only lives 15 minutes away over trent bridge!

lizandlulu · 23/01/2012 18:06

but even if there was something plugged in what would it be? a small village???!!!!!

maybe she just doesnt like carrot. violet doesnt seem overly keep on bananna things. i will keep trying, but she doesnt happily eat it like other sweet stuff

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 23/01/2012 18:11

And he always seems to be at my sisters house, which is literally a 2 minute walk down our street!

I'll try that klou but it looks like she'll take after me, I hate carrots, I only eat them because they're healthy. I smother them in mash and gravy and eat them as fast as I can.

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 23/01/2012 18:15

Maybe the borrowers really do exist? And yes, they have a small village in your roof Shock

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 23/01/2012 18:19

Sorry I'm wetting myself at a small village :o:o:o

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 23/01/2012 18:19

Sorry I'm wetting myself at a small village :o:o:o

lizandlulu · 23/01/2012 18:26

but i have been up the loft and there aint owt in there, not even a lightGrin

nowt as strange as families. its a shame but what can you do. did your sisters kids get presents?

KLou111 · 23/01/2012 18:27

You can do it with any veg lol :) Strange about your dad.
Lol borrowers!!

OP posts:
SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 23/01/2012 19:16

Ahh but borrowers are never seen unless they want you to see them!

I'm not sure about my sisters kids, will ask her when I see her tomorrow. I don't even know if my little sister liked her present, I feel sorry for her. She's only 5 so still has to grow up and discover what a twat he is.

lizandlulu · 23/01/2012 19:56

we havent seen chris's dad since the baby was about 8 weeks old. he came out of hospital after he was dried out and was a funny situation, went to live with his mum and dad, then back at home. he didnt come to the babys christening cause he wasnt well enough from coming out of hospital and not seen him since. i think the longer he leaves it, the most awkward he thinks it will be.

KLou111 · 24/01/2012 17:02

Bloody hell Liz that's a long time!! How far away does he live?

Well, all good this end, Euan slept til 7.15am again (apparently, Rob got up and stuck his dummy in, I didn't hear him til he woke up at 7.45!)
He's taking his milk well again so I think its that, also he seems to want to eat a lot more solids so am tempted to bring forward his intro to 'proper' food to next week so he's ready for meals at 6 months rather than 7. He just loves his food!

Went to docs today as had a lump by my ear for a few weeks, since my cold before Xmas, and my ear keeps getting bunged up, and hurts when I bite/chew. Anyway, was getting worried so went on and she said it was a lymph gland raised cos of infection and my ear is full of wax eeewwwww!! I had them syringed last year for the 2nd time ever, last being when I was 14, anyway now it seems I've opened a can of worms and it needs doing again! Bloody awful!

Iwish · 24/01/2012 17:12

You know I dissapear for 5 minutes and you fill a whole page lol!

melly I can't believe he hasn't come to visit you yet! And Shock at flirting with your 21yo friend!!

Omg liz at that bill!!! There must be something wrong there! Lol at the small village and borrowers Grin

klou how Euan doing with his milk today?

gruff and madkatz how are you both?

MIL went to see a psychic the other day and she told her that's she's going to have another grandson. Sooo our next bubba could be a little boy :)

Joshua was in bed last night for 7:20 last night then up at 11:00 for a feed then 4:00 for a feed. All was going well until he woke crying at 6:00 and then woke at 7:20 loudly talking and screeching to himself! I eventually got up and fed him then put him back to bed till 8:40.

KLou111 · 24/01/2012 17:38

Lol iwish. Hope you're ok, wondered where you'd gone!
:) to another boy, did she say when??
Have you tried any rice with Joshua yet?
Forgot to ask but did you get your pirate mode off your phone??

OP posts:
KLou111 · 24/01/2012 17:40

Oh, Euan back on track with his milk, 15oz so far today, was a bit fussy at breaky though, he has another feed at 6, then 2oz with rice at bedtime so prob 22-24oz :)

OP posts:
Iwish · 24/01/2012 18:14

Glad that he's better on his milk klou bet you are do much happier now.
No not started him on any rice yet. He doesn't seem that interested in food yet so will hold off a little longer. I have bought some rice tho and some little bowls and spoons. How long did you do the rice for before you started on other foods?

No she didn't say when, I meant to ask but forgot lol. And yeh I eventually got sodding pirate mode off. It took me days and eventually only did it on the proper site, couldn't do it on my phone!

lizandlulu · 24/01/2012 18:55

klou him and mil live 75 mile away, she has been a few times, but hes not been with her since, like i say, about early september.

iwish so is it on the cards then? Grin i do think it must be easier with 2 of the same sex, you can reuse all the stuff for a start!

i only kept violet on rice for 2-3 days, thought she might get bored of it, and then just progressed to fruit mixed in with it. now i give her all sorts of jars, but hardly any proper food, not yet, dont know why, i just dont seem to have much that i think is suitable for her, like tonight have had mince and onions in gravy with mash. mash would be fine, but dont fancy pureeing mince!

klou i bet it was his teeth then why he was off his milk. but he must be getting lots and lots of nutrients from everything you give him. does he have yoghurt?

Iwish · 24/01/2012 19:16

Yeh we are planning on having another when Joshua is about 2 ish liz. Yeh I bet it is easier bring able to reuse stuff, much cheaper Grin.
Thanks I' have no idea about food! Do you have to cook the fruit?

It must be strange pureeing meat. Would you purée the meat, veg and potatoes all together?

KLou111 · 24/01/2012 19:26

Yeah he eats yoghurt, I only give him half a petit filous though. Don't think he's meant to have til 6 months but we watched him and all fine :)

iwish you puree it altogether til 6 or 7 months, then mash it so not as smooth. Depends if they'll take it mashed rather than pureed really. Then you don't mush it all together, but separately so they get used to each colour and flavour. Well that's what my book says and Euan seems happy enough :). You cook fruit til 6 months then can have it bit harder. I gave Euan rice for a while cos I started early, but once he was 'of age' I started mixing in fruit etc. Now he has breaky, lunch and dinner and 3 milk feeds :)
Looking forward to giving him meat, think he will enjoy it, plus his recipes sound bloody delish so we'll have some too :)
