Hope the hour at nursery went ok liz.

I am dreading having to make the decision about going back to work or what. I know I have to leave Sophie at some point, but I just don't feel I can.

I did a longer feed last night and then she slept 11 - 5.30 Grin

Iwish · 05/01/2012 16:23

Haha I am a little sad sometimes. Nick thinks I'm a looney.
How did violet get on at nursery?

Took Joshua together weighed today and he's 13lb 3oz. Doesn't seem too much to me, he was 12lb 7oz on 8th December.
We are going to see the priest tonight too about getting him christened.

Iwish · 05/01/2012 16:30

Thats a good sleep madkatz! I've only left Joshua for 40 minutes with my mum. Hated every second lol.
Joshua slept and didn't wake up for his 9:30 feed so was up at 1:50 and 6:50

KLou111 · 05/01/2012 19:34

Well done Sophie, bet you're feeling a lot better now madkatz :)

Hope nursery ok Liz, BOOOO for the W word next week :(

What you like iwish that made me smile. I should do that to Robs phone, but he prob wouldn't know it was me cos he's got a group called wankers anyway!!! (Mostly tenants!!)

Euan was 16/2 at 16 +5 weeks so Joshua is a feather in comparison lol!
I packed all his 3-6 clothes away today, now in 6-9 and a week off being 5 months!!
He's been a bit strange sleeping since home, first night woke on and off from 3.30am so brought him in with us at 6. Think it was cos he slept all the way back to Wales so he didn't need as much. Then last night he stirred at 3.45, then woke at 7.20. This he's all out of sorts bless him. Fingers crossed he gets back to 7.45 or later!
Been feeding him his rice in the bath too cos he's been a right grumpy thing as all he wants to do after his bath is sleep, but he's happy in the bath so seems to work.
The new thing is he now wants to eat his toes, not the best thing when trying to feed him!!! Very cute though!

Yeh I was a bit concerned about his weight, not even 1lb in 4 weeks. Hv said its ok tho. They checked his mouth too and said that he definitly has some little tooth buds there.
Lol at feeding in the bath klou! I hope his sleep settles for you, he does sound all out of sorts the poor little thing.

Booked the christening too. 25th March :). Going to church every week now from Saturday.

KLou111 · 06/01/2012 11:13

Ooo sounds lovely iwish. Do they make you go to church?

Well, sleep almost back on track, Euan did 7-6.30, not a murmer or anything, then he started crying at 6.30 and thought oh god he's up, so went in to get him and put his dummy in instead and slept til 8.30!!

Got agents out next tues and thurs so spending the next few days tidying up, so far got robs 'wardrobe' into mine, some stuff thrown, some put in vac bags, and his wardrobe broken down so looks a lot bigger in our room. Got some filling to do, and our bedroom needs plastering. Got to go and chop a load is wood up that's in the garden for our fire to tidy that up. Garden needs digging over, levelling and seeding but to what extreme we need to ask agent. Oh the joy!!

Iwish · 06/01/2012 12:01

Bloody hell klou!! Sounds like you are going to be busy for a while! Glad Euans sleep is back on track. Bet it feels horrible now if you have to get up in the night. Joshua was up at 4:00 them 7:00 then back to sleep till 8:40.
Yeh we have to go to church now otherwise they won't christen him. Should be fun for nick, he's never been to a catholic church before Grin

Iwish · 06/01/2012 12:22

Oh and my friggin car seat is broke!! It won't sit up any more and the handle just drops down without having to press the release button so if I'm walking with it the whole thing tips up!!

KLou111 · 06/01/2012 12:34

I'd phone Jane or whoever you bought it from iwish its under warranty. I don't think that's very good is it!!

OP posts:
Iwish · 06/01/2012 13:49

I know! I can't believe it's broken already! He's not even 4 months old yet.
MIL bought it so need to find out the name of the place she got it from.

KLou111 · 06/01/2012 17:53

Well, had a Liz moment. Bubs just fell forward and smacked his head! Rob was sitting on the floor playing with him sitting up, turned around to have a swig of tea and Euan fell forward/sideways and smacked his head :( I thought it was his toy til he started crying!! Anyway, be got over it in a few seconds, think it shocked him more than hurt him. Poor little man.

OP posts:
Iwish · 06/01/2012 18:29

Awww poor little thing. Is he ok now?
Went to baby massage this morning and Joshua went through the whole thing without crying Grin!! But he did per twice lol.

When did your babies start holding/playing with toys? Joshua won't grab anything. Well apart from my hair lol. Or my top when BFing.

KLou111 · 06/01/2012 19:22

Yeah, he's fine, tougher than me!! Euans been grabbing things properly as in holding them for about 4/5 weeks so Joshua isn't far off if he's the same :) He was grabbing a bit before that but not holding things. Yeah the hair, owweee! Just glad I'm not Rob, Euan got hold if his underarm hair recently, eye watering moment for him, (for me too, laughing!!)

Iwish · 07/01/2012 19:48

Omg just had a liz and klou moment :(. Joshua was standing up between my legs and he went down onto his knees and as I was rearranging my hands to hold him he fell forward face first into the floor. Luckily it's carpet but he cried the poor thing. I hope he doesn't get black eyes because he fell on his nose :(

klou ouch at robs armpit hair!! Bet that bloody hurt lol.
I hope Joshua starts grabbing things soon, he might be able to entertain himself with his toys lol.

madkatz Joshua went to bed late for ages. He's just gradually brought it forward to 8:30-9:30. Some days he's really tired at 7:30 so we take him up to bed. He still wakes for his last feed 8:00-9:00 tho.
Does Sophie rub her eyes or anything when she's tired? Joshua has just started doing it so we know a bit better now when he's tired.
Also when he has his last feed he falls asleep. I leave him there for 10 mins before I move him to his cot.

Hi to liz melly and gruff

Well today has been quite nice. Went swimming and Joshie loved it. We were in there a whole hour before he got bored! We went home and nicks mum popped round then I've sorted out all my washing, been to a see a room for the christening do and come home to relax.

Tomorrow we are busy too. Going to see another room for the do, then going to church. Then we will go home and wait for our shopping to be delivered then off to my mum and dads for tea :)

MadKatz · 07/01/2012 20:34

She does rub her nose and eyes when she's getting tired, but really fights it unless she is knackered.

At the moment she is falling asleep in my arms and then I'm putting her down. I know we have to start putting her down awake but not sure how to start this, how to deal with her crying (which she will), etc, any suggestions?

Iwish · 07/01/2012 21:19

Well the past couple of weeks I have been trying to put Joshua down without being cuddled/fed to sleep then I'll work towards putting him down awake and leaving him. What I do now is when he's really tired I take him to his room. I stand in the dark and give hI'm a kiss then put him in bed. If he cries I put his dummy in and say shhhh. I just keep doing it until he falls asleep I stroke his head sometimes too and that sometimes works instead of the dummy. If he's really crying I would give him a quick cuddle then put him back down and try again. Now it takes me 5-10mins to get him to sleep if he's tired but tonight I put him in bed at 8:15, did the dummy this etc and he was quiet so I went out. He's still awake but not crying. He's just lay there in the dark.
The best suggestion I can give is to do everything in the dark of you can. We never use lights, even for the night feeds. Some people say that keeping your hand on babies chest helps calm them and reassure them that you are there. Failing that get a slumber bear :)

KLou111 · 07/01/2012 22:09

Ahh poor Joshua :( hope he's ok x

Well, from when Euan was put to bed, I found Rob used to settle him better than me. I used to feed him, then Rob would put his hand at the side of Euans face , then stroke his head and he'd go straight off. I think its cos he could prob smell my milk. Used to really make me sad but if it got him off, it was fine :)
I tried not to hold him to sleep as I did it for a couple of days at about 12 weeks, then he wanted it all the time, so I put a stop to it and he was fine in a couple of days.

OP posts:
KLou111 · 07/01/2012 22:11

And yes, do it in the dark or a dim light, we used the light on the monitor

OP posts:
Iwish · 08/01/2012 13:46

Thanks klou he was ok after a little cry. No black eyes or anything.

Well Joshua is 4 months old today. I can't believe it, time has gone so fast! I can still remember the moment they put him on my chest before whisking him away. .

He had his last feed at 7:30 last night but was up at 12:30 and 6:40 then back to sleep till 8:50. I think maybe he would have slept till 8 if he had more of a feed but he fell asleep and didn't want to wake up again lol.

KLou111 · 08/01/2012 19:33

Ah bless him iwish hope he stays black eye free!!
4 months already, scary!! Euan is 5 months this Friday eek!! Where does the time go!!

evenign all, hope all your babies are ok and not many bruises!!! see what happens when i am not on here for a couple of daysGrin i started a trend!

have you had the agent round yet klou?

not read the post yet 8madkatz* but will do in a min.

iwishi violet started holding things porperly about
4 weeks ago so 20 weeks. she can really bash a rattle now, but mostly just bashes her headGrin

well been to kiddicare today, i could spend a week in there, they have so much stuff, so much choice, i love it!! had violet in loads of pushchairs and she was sick on a silver cross harness strapGrin well thats what display ones are for isnt it???

anyway, ended up with a maclaren quest in pink and brown with matching liner and foot muff. macleren really are the best for strollers, we also tried a obaby (what my current travel system is) and this silver cross one. but both wernt as good as the maclaren one
also got a car seat for the lorry when we go racing and a racing car walker which she can also use as a rocker type thing, its got like a fabric bottom which she can 'stand' on before she uses it as a walker.

i have put her into a forward facing seat today as she got too big for hte 0+ seat and she really disliked being in it, so got lulus old seat out and she was perfectly fine in it.

however the lady who was helping us with the car seat said they have to be able to sit unaided for 20 mins before they can go in forward facing seat Hmm i have NEVER heard that beofre, it all about the weight isnt it? got to be 9 kg. wel i aint taking her out of it, she is so much happier in it and it reclines alot so shes dead comfy.

Iwish · 08/01/2012 21:28

I hope he stays black eye free too klou lol. Time goes too quick definitly. Our babies are growing up!

Hahaha liz you have a pram fettish!! I thought the carseats just went off weights too! Not bloody sitting up! Joshua is 16 weeks now so maybe he will start grabbing things soon then.

Yet another question. How do you know what foods to give baby when you start weaning? Do you have a book or something?
