well, i get about 1/4 of a spoonfull and try that, she was abit better tonight although they have actually scared me off using rusk cause of the gluten, so tried her with baby rice tonight, she seemed to take that abit better. i bought some jars and squeezy sachets today too, some organice baby ones, one pure apple and the other was savoury. going to mix the apple one with the rice, maybe next week, see if her swallowing gets any better by then

lizandlulu · 07/12/2011 20:04

i have never started a thread and had so many responses! i dont think giving abit of rice is weaning either, its notl ike i am getting her to try all new flavoursor having meals or replacing milk. i just wanted her to have a full tummy for bedtime!

all i seem to hjave done this last couple of days is feed the baby, yest she wanted a bottle a couple of times with only an hour and half in between them. mum suggested today try and give her something at dinner time rather than tea time.
shes hd a couple of awful nappies so she might just have been wanting comfort from a bottle if she wasnt feeling well.

KLou111 · 08/12/2011 15:22

Well, between you and me Wink we started 'weaning' yesterday at 16+4.
On speaking to the hv today, as I thought, she said no problem.

Here's what he's having:
2am (or when he wakes overnight) cooled boiled water, so he will eventually not wake up.
7am: 8oz milk
9-9.30 nap
10.30am:8oz milk
11.30am: 1/3 jar veg puree warmed 10secs micro.
12-2 nap
2.30pm: 8oz milk
5pm: 2tbsp rice 1oz milk
6:45pm: 8oz milk

Mind you, the 8oz is made up milk so 7oz water/7 scooped formula.

He's taking anything between 29-32oz a day.

He seems to like the veg (potato and carrot) thank god. Rest of it tomorrow, then the next jar :)

Spoke to her about teething cos we got a nice little pack today with books, weaning advice and toothbrush and paste. She said that yoghurt is a good epithet too

OP posts:
KLou111 · 08/12/2011 15:23

Soother not epithet whatever that is!!!!

OP posts:
KLou111 · 08/12/2011 15:24

heating in microvave!!!! shock horror!!!Shock dont go telling them on the other thread!!!!!!! another load of crap to make life harder.

wow he really is a hungry baby isnt he!! violet is sitll on 6 oz bottles and doesnt usually finish all that, just wants little and often.

i was going to do the water in the night thing if she was still waking in the night, but touch wood, she has been sleeping through for a few weeks, i was dreading it. she generally goes to bed between 6 and 6.30 and shes been waking at 6am, but not crying, just chuntering to herself and blowing raspberries, so i have been leaving ehr and she goes back to sleep till i wake her at 8am.

lizandlulu · 08/12/2011 21:25

imagine what kind of response i would get if i posted something like 'what should i put IN the bottle at night, rusk or rice?'

lizandlulu · 08/12/2011 21:26

MadKatz · 09/12/2011 09:24

That's fab madkatz bet you feel like a new woman lol.

Joshua was good last night. Bed at 9:00am and up at 8:25am only waking for a feed at 5:10am! Yey happy mummy

MadKatz · 09/12/2011 11:08

Hope you mean 9pm Iwish or that was a mega sleep!

KLou111 · 09/12/2011 17:20

Lmao 9am!! Well done Joshie!!!

And well done Sophie!!!

I know, microwave eek!! It actually tells you to micro on the jar too!!! (The same way it says from 4 months Wink)

Well we are knackered. Euan off his rice last night but took a full milk feed at 6.40, straight to sleep. After thinking we'd have an easy night due to his jabs, boy were we wrong!!
He woke at 12.30 just as Rob turned the tv off, so he put it back on and brought Euey in for a bit. Gave him a feed but didn't want it, just sat watching tv til he fell asleep an hour later. Took his temp and was 0.1 over fever rate :(
But he kept waking every half hour do gave him his dummy, fast asleep then waaaaaa!!!!!! At 3am I put 4 pillows top to bottom on the floor with a spare duvet and went in and slept in there. Was the same til 5 then slept til 6.30am. Fed then brought him in our room and we must've both fell asleep cos I woke at 9.15, then Euey woke just after. Rob must've left us to it.
He didn't realise I was sleeping in the nursery and he got up 5 times to come in and Euan went quiet so he got back in bed lol! (It's pitch black where we live hence he couldn't see me not there)
Anyway rang hv and she said I was the second person this morning to ring about the 3rd jabs causing fever and give him baby nurofen in between the calpol. He's still a bit grizzly, have just given him a bit of rice which he took (didn't have carrot earlier).
Fingers crossed he'll be ok tonight.

lizandlulu · 09/12/2011 21:38

ahh poor euan, and poor you Sad i told you the last lot upset violet more than the others. i hope you have a better night tonight.

violet has had an uppset tummy yest and today, she has been slightly grumpy with lots of 'wet fart' nappies. not full poos but tiny runny poos, about 5 a day and they have made her bum really sore. it was quite red tonight and she cried when i put her in the bath. so covered her in cream and she went to bed fine. hopefully its better tomorrow.

and realised today that violet is 20 weeks old!! for some reason i have been thinking she is 18 weeksHmm she is 5 months and 1 day so that makes her 20 weeks and 1 day.....doh!

KLou111 · 10/12/2011 08:54

Ah poor violet. I thought she was older cos Euan is 17 weeks today lol!
Hope she feels better soon, poor bubs :(

Another grotty night here but not as bad, brought Euan in our room at 6 cos he'd been stirring most the night from when we put him to bed. Hope he's not getting/got my cold, robs got it :(

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 10/12/2011 22:38

hows you all this evening?

violets bum has been abit better today, not so red and sore, i keep slathering on the cream and it seems to help.

KLou111 · 11/12/2011 07:59

Well I feel a class 1 bitch of a mother this morning.
Euan was heaps better last night. Slept til 2.30, got up to do his water, gave it to him, fast asleep. Spent the next half hour with me up and down from bed settling him. In the end I smacked my heel very hard on his door frame backing out of his room and it bloody (still does) hurt.
About 15 mins later he was awake again so I decided to feed him. He wouldn't shut up so I did the biggest shhhhhh and didn't shut up so I shouted 'shut up, its fucking coming!' at him and spent the rest of the time in his room crying at myself for being a shit mum and losing it!!
Needless to say he woke up again, Rob went in and said you can stick having another one (both very tired at this point), then I had to get up again and he slept til 7.20.
I wouldn't be surprised if Euan is battling my cold. Robs got it and he never gets ill when I am so how could Euan not?

Glad violet better Liz :)

Iwish · 11/12/2011 09:29

Lol I didn't realise I'd put 9am!! He slept well again last night. Last feed at 8:30. In bed for 9:30ish then up at 5:30 for a feed and asleep tell 8:55. Yippee!!
Joshie is 12 weeks today, can't believe it!

Hey liz I was asleep wen you wrote that last night lol! Talk about party animal!
Glad violets bum is a bit better. Poor little thing. Do you use sudocrem? That's what we use on Joshie. Can't believe she's 20 weeks already, it's gone so quick!

Awww klou your not a bad mummy. I have had outbursts of 'what the f&uk is wrong with you and 'go to f&cking sleep'. Best thing is to walk away and send DP/DH in. Like you say he may have a bit of a cold so hope it passes soon. Hope you are feeling ok this morning. And hope your foot is better too.

How was Sophie last night madkatz?

Iwish · 11/12/2011 09:30

Sorry his last feed was 8:45 not 8:30.

MadKatz · 11/12/2011 12:03

Strange day yesterday with Sophie. We were out visiting family and friends in 3 different places, so in the car a lot which was great as she just crashes out in the car, but it meant her feeding was all over the place. Napped a few times during the day, had a feed when we got home at 2am then woke again at 6.45am but not wingey at all, so think the miles and seeing new people must have worn her out.

She's asleep again now so getting on with Christmas Cards and wrapping

KLou111 · 11/12/2011 13:12

Well, we've had 2 8oz feeds and 1/2 jar of cauliflower cheese and have not been sick, so fingers crossed as it's all being kept down, it may have a knock on effect tonight :)

Glad you're all OK Madkatz, sounds like you're busy busy!

Took me 3 days to write our cards (only about 45) as kept getting interrupted with one thing and another.

Oh bought one of these yesterday for Rob from Euey for Chrimbo
He wanted a LED torch, and I was stuck as to what to get him from Euan, so have got one of these with 'Dad' on the torch and 'To Dad, On our first Christmas, Love from Euan' on the tin. A picture mug kept coming up favourite on search engines but I already got him one of them when Euan was born! :)

lizandlulu · 11/12/2011 20:59

evrning all. glad you are all well

klou dont beat yourself up about it, everyone does it and personally i dont think your normal if you dont lose it at some point in the first 6 months! sometimes its better off out than in, you cant stay cool all the timeSmile

oh and lovely present for rob!

well still shit in this household. yet more not speaking. last weekend he said that he was going out sat night (yest) for a work lads birthday, then he HAD to go racing today, couldnt not go, out of the question.i was proper pissed off at being lone parent yet again all weekend, but he said that after this weekend it wouldnt be like that and hes taking me away next weekend. (but still not booked and i am not fucking doing it)

so i arrange to go out with mum and dad today, so he gets in at 2.30 am, gets out of bed about 8 and disappears out the gate on foot. i rang him about 9 to say can you come and watch the baby while i have a shower, he came back 5 mins later, sat with the kids literally 5 mins, as soon as i was out the shower, not even dried he was off out again across the fields (will be back in 10 mins, 1 hour later no sign)
and came back from day out to him in bed says he feels illHmm

so cause his mate didnt want to go racing, he didnt go. so so so pissed off at him.
he got out of bed after i had bathed the kids and we sat in silence till he dissapeared off to the bedroom about 8.30.

cant carry onl ike thisSad

lizandlulu · 11/12/2011 21:01

oh and its lulu's christmas play this week, i asked him what day he wanted to go as we have to have tickets and its on 2 days, and he said he didnt want to go, no actually didnt know if he wanted to goHmm

what kind of father doesnt want to go AND SEE THAT????

he didnt even speak to the baby tonight, doesnt he care what hes missing out on????

KLou111 · 12/12/2011 07:29

Oh Liz he sounds like a right proper shit!!! out of order that he leave you all the time, but well out if order he's not interested in the little ones. Have you spoken to anyone in RL about him?
Do you think he'll change or is that him?
Can't believe he was adamant on the racing then didn't go. I think some stern words need to be had!!

Well a huuuugely better night here, 7-3.35, 3.50-6.40. Have decided to feed Euan when he wakes rather than water for the mo as he seems to sleep better lol. Although he won't eat this morning, so will try in a bit.

We have also made the decision we want to move 'home' next year. We're out of our mortgage tie in, not that its a huge penalty anyway as our mortgage us so small, but everything saved is better in our bank!!
Anyway, have decided that we're too lonely here. Although our friends and family are great, we just think we're missing out on things like just going out as a couple without Euan. We've tried to make friends here, but at thus age, everyone has their friends already.
We do love it here, and love our house, but we've got to think ling term.
We said never say never re going back. We've seen a house that we like on the net, which is literally 15 doors up from my mum and dad, which we're a bit [hmm[ about, but its in our prices range, its done, and its modern (which we never thought we'd want) but it'll be easier.
Saying that though, we've got to sell ours. Back in the midlands it'd be gone tomorrow, but we've never sold a house here so are unsure how long it'll take. We're in the border of pembrokeshire, which is where a lot of retirees go, and its a holiday home location, so hopefully can get someone like that :)
