klou how are you getting on with the baby rice? are you still giving him just the rice?

i have just been looking at the weaning section and have realised i am not sterilising the bowls or spoons. do you? it never occured to me to sterilise them!

KLou111 · 19/11/2011 07:34

That's fab Liz with Violets sleeping!!! Good girl!!
Is she eating all the rusk?

I am giving him a teaspoon of rice so he's only having a tiny bit. Not doing anything else til 4 months. I already feel a bit Hmm giving the rice, but if he's hungry what do you do?? Most people would say give more milk, which I do aswell, but I don't want to overfeed him iyswim. I gave him a teaspoon of rice yesterday at 2.45 and a tiny bit at 5.15 as I gave him an extra oz than usual and drank it even though I'm trying to phase that feed out. Anyway, dont think the extra agreed with him as he woke unsettled at 1am, Rob got him off til 4.30 then woke at 6.45 so just the one real waking again.

I had to check that a teaspoon ad recommended meant after it was mixed, rather than the teaspoon plus the milk, and yes it is after its mixed, hence I have the rest lol.

Re the pot and spoon, I wash in hot soapy water and rinse and dry with kitchen roll just before I feed him. I don't boil them or anything.

Tbh I am glad we're bottling him for hols. I think it'll be a lot easier. yes there's a lot to take etc. Plus i've already told Rob we're splitting it on hol lol. He's normally on the phone or computer for a few hours a day so I'm happy to do it at home, but on hol there's no excuses. He's looking forward to it as this will be the first time since Euan was born that he'll have solid uninterrupted time with him for a week. And he's 14 weeks today!!

Oh we're staying in an apartment as we needed a kitchen for bottles etc. We're going half board for the first time too as normally ai, but guaranteed a lichen this way :)

Hi lovelies!

Not long till your hols klou bet you are so excited. And food on you for sharing the feeds, you could hopefully have a few full nights sleep :)
How did Euan sleep last night?

Flippin eck liz, that's great about violets sleep! Wish Joshua did that! how many weeks is she now?

Joshua was a good boy again last night. Bed at 9 but woke at 10 for a bit of boob then back to sleep till 4:30!!! He was back in bad for 4:45 and slept till 8:00! Grin
He has been a boob monster during the day tho so has been feeding every hour and a half towards evening time.

Waves to melly madkatz and gruff

KLou111 · 19/11/2011 17:08

Wow he is being very good iwish!!

Euan was knackered last night so we put him to bed by 6.30pm. He woke up a bit unsettled at around 1am, Rob was still awake so he saw to him, think he was a bit upset cos I'd perhaps fed him rice twice for the first time yesterday, and one feed after the other so I don't think it agreed with him. He was off within 10 mins and woke around 4.30am then up at 6.45 :)
He's just had a major explosion in the nappy dept, second since rice, so at least we know its going through ok.

evening all, hoep your all well. my my life is one big mess yet again!

yesterday dad and chris got arrested and were taken to police station for questioning over work stuff. they have been targetting all scrap yards over the last few weeks and every one of them apart from us has had stolen stuff in, so i think the police are thinking that cause we get such alot of stuff in, some of it must be stolen and i think they are just going through the motions, nothing will come of it cause we have done nowt wrong. but anyway, i had to rush to work to run the place while they were gone, luckily mum had just come to my house to see to her chickens so she stayed with the baby and dad and chris was out after 3-4 hours.

and today chris is all depressed, said he wasnt going to work anymore, couldnt cope, blah blah blah. same old same old.

everyone else copes, i cope when im there. . but dad spoke to him on the phone and he eventually went at half 9.. but hes fine to go racing tomorrowHmm

oh and that lad is back at work who walked outHmm dad gave him another chance which i am not happy about, but nowt i can do about it.

apart from all that, violets fineSmile she has gone to bed at 6 tonight tho as she was knackered, she hasnt had a sleep since 1.30 so tired out

Iwish · 19/11/2011 18:51

Lol at the explosion klou Joshua had an explosion too, he hadn't had a poo since Thursday morning so no wonder he cried when he had done it.
Did he have a feed at 1am? Or just a cuddle etc?

Omg liz!! That's rediculous! How can they think it's ok to arrest your dad and chris because you have a lot of stuff??!!! Idiots.

How much sleep would you think Joshua should be having? He's 9 weeks tomorrow. He sleeps I would say about 10 1/2 - 11 hours at night but only a couple of hours during the day. He's a nightmare to get to sleep in the day.

KLou111 · 19/11/2011 20:25

Bloody hell Liz poor blokes. What a nightmare, glad its sorted but sorry Chris not feeling too good about everything. Your dad must be mad letting that lad back!!

Rob just stroked his head at 1 iwish and he just went off.
He had another nappy explosion 20 mins later after I wrote the above lol.
At the mo Euan is having around 15 hours sleep, 3 in the day and around 12 at night. Hes having less than before, prob 16-17 til around 8 weeks.

OP posts:
Iwish · 20/11/2011 19:47

Any tips on getting Joshua to sleep during the day? He is so flippin nosey that he fights his sleep. Even when we go walking in the pram it doesn't always knock him out. I would love for him to sleep for a few hours during the day and stop him being so grumpy!
He is so tired today that he has just been screaming for 45 minutes for food but wouldn't latch on so we had to calm him with the dummy/let him cry :(. And now he has fallen asleep on the rug after his bath.
He was asleep at 9:00 last night, up at 3:30 and 6:30 for a feed then got up at 8:00.

KLou111 · 20/11/2011 21:43

I don't really know, Euan just kind of did it. I have blackout blinds on windows and I put the heater on in his room so its warm if a little cool. He has his off days but mostly just falls asleep on his own in the day.

Joshua is sleeping well at night which is fab :)

OP posts:
KLou111 · 20/11/2011 21:45

Have you tried a radio in his room, used to be a god send for Euan as he liked noise for comfort I think.

OP posts:
KLou111 · 21/11/2011 07:01

Happy happy happy happy!!! Euan did 7pm-5.50am, just under 11 hours straight!!!! Woohoo!! Had a quick feed then back off for an hour, I got up and the little buggers gone back to sleep!!! I only did the one rice feed so I swear its that. I've been keeping a note of times I've fed him rice and sleeping times and he sleeps best when I feed him it at 11am.
Sooooo happy esp as we leave for the airport at 6am tomorrow so hopefully he'll sleep til just before we go, feed and leave.
Very excited now :)

OP posts:
Iwish · 21/11/2011 10:09

He wont nap in his bedroom for some reason. If he does have a nap he has to be all cuddled up on the sofa. And as strange as this sounds we dont have a radio lol!
Well he went to bed at 8:45 last night and was up at 2:30 and 5:30 then back to bed till 8:20. And he is currently having a little nap as of 15 minutes ago!! He's on the sofa all cuddled up in his fluffy blanket.

Another fab sleep for you and Euan! What time did he get up after he fell asleep when you got up? Typical lol. The rice must be a real help in filling him up! Are you doing the same on holiday?
I hope you have a great time on holiday Grin

KLou111 · 21/11/2011 12:24

Thank you. Can't wait. Yes I'll just do the same now I know its ok.
I got to his room at 6.50 as he was chuntering, I put the light on and he fell asleep straight away til 7.25 when I woke him up!

Do you have a radio on your phone you could try?

OP posts:
Iwish · 21/11/2011 13:07

Yeh I do come to think of it! Completely forgot about that. I will try and use that because usually if I put him in his room he screams the house down lol.

We he had a nap for 40 minutes earlier and now he is having another nap. Hopefully I will get 2 hours out of him and he won't be as grumpy.

Sorry of this sounds a bit stupid but how do you strap his seat in on the plane?

KLou111 · 21/11/2011 15:15

Sitting on my lap on the plane, will be numb by the end of it!

That's good hes slept a bit, he should be less grumpy at the end of the day x

OP posts:
KLou111 · 21/11/2011 15:19

Oh, forgot to say, I wish I had slept well but I spent all night waking every hour or so worried the monitor wasn't working and wanting to go and check on him. If it wasn't that, it was me thinking he'll be awake in a min so not really sleeping lol!

OP posts:
Iwish · 21/11/2011 19:31

Omg klou I wish he was less grumpy, all he has done is scream and cry all night. Think we have had 5-10 mins of quiet. That's all he does these days.

Lol at the not sleeping, I'm just as bad. I woke up to go for a wee last night and heard him coughing so kept going in the check on him.

Less than 12 hours and you will be on your way to the airport!!

KLou111 · 21/11/2011 19:58

Eek, excited :)
All packed, just the monitor and flask to put in.
If I don't manage to get WiFi, speak to you all in a week. Keep smiling all x

OP posts:
Iwish · 21/11/2011 21:42

Never again am I letting him sleep during the day!!!!! All he has done since 3pm is scream and I'm not joking and he won't go to sleep. I'm knackered!!!! Not happy at all!!!!!!

MadKatz · 22/11/2011 00:50

Evening ladies,
Sorry haven't been on much. Am at the end of my Tether here with colic, am just so knackered. Even the cranial osteopathy hasn't helped Sad
Seeing gp tomorrow about other things but going to ask if there is anything else we can try

Hope you're all ok x

KLou111 · 22/11/2011 09:07

So sorry iwish :( other way around in our house, if he doesn't sleep he gets overtired and grumpy.

Hope the colic settles soon madkatz

Signing off, having a latte waiting for flight. Buggers tried to take ny water off ne but told them had rang etc and they let me off!!
Have one happy chap at the mo, hope it stays like that!!!

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 22/11/2011 13:01

good for you klou, i wish i had been more assertiveGrin have a great time, cant wait for you to come back alreadyGrin

iwish and madkatz so sorry for both of you, have you spoken to hv about it? do they know you are both really fed up with it and need more suggetions as to what could help?

at my end chris is still depressed, wont talk, wont admit he needs help and i dont know how to deal with it any more.

violet was crying last night, think it was ehr teeth, so gave her calpol yet again, all i seem to do is give her calpol, and she was asleep for 6.25 but hadnt had any bottle so wasnt expecting a good night, and she didnt wake till 7.50 (sorry, not rubbing it in)Sad

Iwish · 22/11/2011 17:01

madkatz see if they will give you colief at the docs. That's was our last step. Don't buy it tho as its £12 for 7ml. It's horrid isn't it, hopefully tho it should be gone by 12 weeks!!

I don't know what to suggest about chris liz. Could you get anyone else to talk to him?
Lol its ok we know your not rubbing it in. Can't wait till Joshua sleeps through!

He's been quite pleasant today but is just starting to get a bit moany. He went to bed at 10:15 last night (was fed at 8:00) and was up at 1:30 and 5:30 then 8:30 but he slept again from 8:45 till 9:30.
Just had a v strange physio appt for my 3rd degree tear... The physio put her fingers inside my fanjo to check that my pelvic floor muscles were working ok!! Good news is that she said they are v v good!
