Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MamaMaiasaura · 21/10/2011 14:40

Hand - sorry but I actually giggled over the soft play. You described it so well Grin I've been avoiding ours and pepper pig world too for same reasons.

Cheshire - thanks for info on evening primrose. I used a 1000mg capsule last night and today me and dh got jiggy. (tmi but I wish I hadn't avoided it for ages as was great to be a woman and not baby carrier).

Registrar called and I'm booked for induction on Sunday Shock and Grin They will break my waters and if after 2 hours max I've not progresses then I'll be on syntocin drip. I can go in home from home and have mobile telemetry. Scared but also glad to be able to organise child care etc. Hopefully I'll be home Sunday night. However, getting more painful ctx so baby might put in appearance first.

SconesForTea · 21/10/2011 14:57

Go go go Awen!

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 21/10/2011 15:17

Ha don't worry Awen - it was supposed to be funny! If I had been watching me I would have been laughing. Recovered a bit now - had some food. Amazing what raising the blood sugar level can do!

Sounds good re the ctx and the induction too. Got my fingers crossed for you

pinkpainter · 21/10/2011 16:48

Hand - You made me giggle out loud at your soft play description!! Brilliant!! - Sorry! :)

I had the same idea today too, although my soft play area was just a room with a little ball pit, slides and toys - no climbing through things for me. I sat there chatting to the other mums while DD played - everyone is fascinated when they ask when I'm due and I reply "yesterday!!"

Exhausted after my terrible nights sleep last night - early night due tonight, and at least it's the weekend now so I have DH's help, and hopefully a lie in or two - yay!!

Awen - That's excellent news about your induction - at long last you can see the end of all this uncertainty - hope it happens naturally before then, but so exciting that either way you will have your baby very soon....

40+1

MrsHende · 21/10/2011 17:15

I have no idea how you ladies with other children are doing this!!!!! You all have my utmost respect.

Made a radical decision today to buy a cosy cardi instead of a dressing gown for the hospital. Yes, that's how exciting my day has been! And now I'm having a lie down to recover from the trip to Asda to buy it.

Awen That's good news about your induction - fingers crossed you don't make it that far though!

Hand and Pink good on you for going to soft play! I love the thought of you going down that slide too Grin - Asda was traumatic enough for me today! I've only ever been to a soft play place once...that may change in the next few years I imagine...

38+6

MrsHende · 21/10/2011 17:19

Just thinking - have I missed a post from Sassy? Fingers crossed that she's busy with a new baby!

seasaltbaby · 21/10/2011 17:37

I agree with mrsh no idea how u ladies with children are coping, amazing, this late stage is so hard, lots of respect & sympathy!

Not sure we have heard from sassy, hopefully she is too busy with bubs!

Excellent news awen your so nearly there now x

Getting more period like pains today & last night, especially if I'm lying down. Not sure its anything really, the anticipation is so hard though!

chocolatehobnobs · 21/10/2011 18:08

Still here too. 38 +5 today. Feeling really well. Finally shaken off the flu and spent a week shopping, having lunch and afternoon teas out and lots of relaxation treatments at a local day spa. So happy to wait another 9 days at the moment at the back of the bus with mrs hende and trude and dannid.
Awen - hope you are seeing action!
Congratulations to all the new mummiesGrin.
I'm in a pub for after work drinks with my old mentor. It feels odd to be in work clothes as a professionl woman today (after only 3 weeks off) goodness knows how it will feel after a year.
Good luck everybody!

Bumpsadaisie · 21/10/2011 18:22

Agree about the soft play - even when not pregnant its bad enough! You always think you are going to sit there with the other mums having a cappuccino and a chat, the reality is your toddler has a meltdown and needs you to "help" and "come too", meaning you have to do all the athletics as well.

Plus the fact that toddler invariably picks up bug from soft play - meaning at best three days of broken sleep, snivelly nose and poor appetite and at worst the whole family coming down with virulent norovirus (of course you can't take to your bed because said toddler is ill and NEEDS you!)

Can you tell my last experience of soft play was not the greatest ... ! Grin

Bumpsadaisie · 21/10/2011 18:40

Awen Glad you got a plan for an induction - I was induced with DD at 40 weeks and it was fine. The drip does make things intense but you can always take the drugs! If you have an epidural hopefully it could be a mobile one to help you get in the best position.

And surely you must be ready to go after weeks of contractions etc? My induction was ok and I was starting from 0 so you may well not even need the drip.

PenguinArmy · 21/10/2011 19:21

we cope with toddlers because we have to and by wanting to cry a lot

Bumpsadaisie · 21/10/2011 19:45

Ho ho Penguinarmy - my 'pregnant + toddler' coping mechanism is to take great comfort from the thought that I am unlikely to ever have to go through this again .... ha ha Grin

I've definitely served my time at this pregnancy thing. Once this one is out the focus is going to be on reintegrating into society (i.e. getting MY body and self back safe in the knowledge no one, no matter how gorgeous and cute they may be, is ever going to inhabit it again!!)

pinkpainter · 21/10/2011 20:36

Bumps - You made me laugh too with your soft play description!! Thanks for all those who are cheering me up today. Also agree with the toddler coping thing and pregnancy thing - this is the last one for me too and in a year or so new LO will hopefully be sleeping through and starting to get more independent - it's just a matter of getting through the time and trying to enjoy it as much as possible. It is going to be tough with a toddler and baby but can't wait to start the challenge :)

Chocolate - So jealous of your spa treatments - my DH is doing his best to look after me though so can't complain too much....

Come on all those babies out there - we want to see some exciting new baby announcements tomorrow please!!

MamaMaiasaura · 22/10/2011 04:48

Today is due date. Woke 2 with painful ctx and now every 4-5 mins and strong. Will update later, but fingers crossed. Also lost more show last night and took paracetamol as bad back pain. Xx

MamaMaiasaura · 22/10/2011 04:48

Meant woke at 2am so been going a few hours. Z

LittlePebble · 22/10/2011 05:47

Good luck Awen hope this is it xx

Overreactionoftheweek · 22/10/2011 05:52

Ooh, good luck Awen, today is my due date too. Sadly I've been awake since 0345 thanks to horrible SPD and wanting to murder my unsympathetic husband...no ctx for me :(

Am being induced tomorrow at 9am so not too much longer thank god. This is my first and never knew my body could hurt so much...which bodes well for labour eh?! Wink

MamaMaiasaura · 22/10/2011 07:29

Still nice and strong and 4/5 mins apart. Parents on way over.

Control - I had really bad hip and pelvic pain last night and took paracetamol for it, then dreamt about induction and woke with strong ctx. Trying to stay home as long as possible but think I'll be going in fairly soon. Was meant to be induced tom at 8

MamaMaiasaura · 22/10/2011 07:29

Not control Blush meant overreaction. Not concentrating xx

cassnstar · 22/10/2011 07:39

Hi guys my update is that consultant despite me completely controlling blood sugars are going to treat me as if i had diabetes. Want to induce me at 39 + 6 (wednesday) constantly monitor baby and not let me use pool. Trying to scaremonger with talk of placental abruption which i know is very rare and could in theory happen to anyone. Not happy with them at all and their attitude my blood sugar is the same as yours Arwen. So am doing raspberry leaf tea, caulloph homeopathic, Evening Primrose, had Reiki Thursday and acupuncture yesterday. Acupuncture monday too and a sweep. Thank god for hypnotherapy to keep me calm or i would be so stressed! One good thing is i may be able to have a friend as my midwife which would be great.
Sorry for the moan, but this is so far away from my homebirth hopes, have already done birthing centre just g&a successfully so i know i could do it!!

MamaMaiasaura · 22/10/2011 07:52

Cass - sex definately helped I think. These are proper omg ouch ones. Manages some breakfast and coffee. Trying to maintain calmness here Smile. Hope you get going before Wednesday xx

SconesForTea · 22/10/2011 07:58

Good luck Awen it sounds as if it's happening for you today!! Great if you have your baby on your due date Smile

It's my due date too but no signs of baby Sad I did wake with bad pains 2am yesterday morning, but nothing came of them, I think it might have been gut ache Blush I just can't tell where everything is anymore. Going to have a reflexology session to prime labour this afternoon even- though I know it won't work-- so fingers crossed.

cass you poor thing, I'd be hopping mad if I was being treated as had GD but was controlling bloods. PA is indeed very rare, it happened to my friend very sadly and she didn't have GD or any blood sugar issues. I don't think you can predict it. Good luck with all the labour-inducing.

FX sassy is busy with new baby!

Someone has swopped my toddler for an angel child Grin After waking at 5.45am or 6 if we're lucky the past few weeks (UGH), she is STILL ASLEEP at 8am and it's my morning shift Shock Shock OK I'm awake, but it's fab having a few minutes to myself Grin

40w today

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 22/10/2011 07:59

Oh awen good luck so exited for you, I've also had 1or 2 ctx this morning but not told DH about them yet, (I'm supposedly having a long lie while he's downstairs with DS) I've had too many false alarms and afraid this could just be another.
FX

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 22/10/2011 07:59

excited

BB3 · 22/10/2011 08:24

awen aren't you 40 minutes from the hospital? Get your bottom there as soon as your parents arrive! You might have had a slow latent phase but we dont want lo arriving on the side of the road!!! GrinWink sounds like this is it for you!

Morning to those of you still waiting x I will try and catch up on everything now x
