Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Oeisha · 24/10/2011 21:34

shonno I like Charlie! Would personally have to go Charles or Charlotte and then nickname to Charlie...IYSWIM, as we're doing with Abi/Abigail. Just want her to have the choice of what she wants to shorten it to, if she wants to...errr...kinda doesn't make sense, but it does if you work out the weird relationship my family has with names (there are a fair few of us called one thing, but named another).

mummyzoe2012 · 24/10/2011 21:51

Well ame didnt want us to see her this afternoon, got a good few photos and a rescan on the 5th dec free. will only cost us £5.00 for the dvd of the scan so cnt complain. she is a little cutie tho. how ever a little madom giving us the talk to the hand motion. 6 weeks till we see her again and then 7 weeks till she is here! but that might only be 5 weeks as they said at the hosbital that if she is still breach and back to back then i will get a c sectiontwo weeks early.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 24/10/2011 22:01

Just a quick one to say i'm home and, apparently, a medical mystery. Absolutely shattered now so will give you full debrief tomorrow xx

Brownwolf · 24/10/2011 22:05

charile I like for boy or girl

Oeisha · 24/10/2011 22:06

Oh! Thank goodness!

Brownwolf · 24/10/2011 22:07

Glad you home cakes hope you manage to get some sleep

ParsleyLion1 · 24/10/2011 22:08

Good to hear you're back home cakes get some good sleep if you canSmile

Bit of a shame Amee didn't want to play properly mummyzoe but sounds good that you got to see her and will get another scan so you can see her again.

shonnomanom · 24/10/2011 23:31

Glad your home and well-ish cakes
mz shame she didn't want to perform but good that youl get a free scan out it.

my dd is sick Sad she started in bed at 930 tonight and is still on the go. She is managing to get about 10-15mins sleep at a time which is good.

If we are going to use the name it would be Charlie only, no longer be version.

ParsleyLion1 · 25/10/2011 07:11

MorningSmile hope everybody is well today and that your dd feels a bit better shonno.

Can't believe I'm on the train in to London and it's still dark. That all seems a bit sudden.

redheadbedhead · 25/10/2011 07:24

it's so dark isn't it!! my OH woke me up at 6am by going for a wee. And that was it. No more sleep for me Sad

glad you're ok cakes but how annoying to just be a mystery and not have anything fixed!!

hope your daughter's feeling better this morning shonno

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/10/2011 07:53

Thanks everyone. They hooked bubba up to a machine to trace its heartbeat, which was fine, did a bunch of tests and asked me questions, but everything normal (pee, iron levels, no oedema etc etc). They basically just put it down to 'pregnancy'.

Was a bit Hmm at some of the team - the doctor was lovely, introduced herself on first name terms, but she didn;t say what kind of doctor she was (SHO, consultant, nothing) and not a single one of the others introduced themselves at all - I didn;t know if they were nurses, midwives, what their names were - they also seemed to have trouble cracking their faces in a smile. I'm sure it's all very routine for them, but when people are hooking things up to me, checking my pee and so on I like to know who the fuck they are and what to call them.

As I wanted their help I decided not to say anything (plus I may have been, you know, a tad wobbly and emotional) but today I'm really quite cross about it. AIBU? ;)

DH was marvellous - very calming and steady, propped me up (literally at one point) and was just generally wonderful.

I'm very glad they didn;t find anything wrong as it means I can still go ahead and have my baby at the MW led unit, but frustrating not to have answers. All I know is that I much prefer the MWLU to the hospital as an environment to give birth in so I'm praying that I won't have to transfer.

Sorry to hear your little girl is poorly shon and I agree, Parsley - it's only just getting light now and it's freaky. Clocks go back this weekend, don't they? Guess we're in proper Autumn mode now!

ParsleyLion1 · 25/10/2011 08:05

I'm sure it wasn't this dark yesterday Confused

cakes hope that they at least told you what they were doing as they prodded and poked?

moobee fingers crossed that your conversation with the GP goes OK today.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/10/2011 08:13

parsley - yes, I got that much notice at least.

addictediam · 25/10/2011 08:45

Makescakes I've found that too, but have learnt if your in the maternity area, if they are wearing blue (nurses uniform) they are mw's, if they are plain clothed they are either gyne's or trainee gyne's, if youve had the baby the plain clothes may be peads and if anyone turns up in scrubs PANIC. [hgrin] I'm just joking you don't need to panic, just ask lots of questions!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/10/2011 08:49

They were all in dk blue scrubs - all of them!

addictediam · 25/10/2011 08:58

Im sorry makescakes, that made me lol.
Your home now so its fine!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/10/2011 09:01

I know, but it was like attack of the frickin' clones! I managed to see that one of them had 'Midwife' on her badge, but that was just luck, it's not always possible to see what the badge says and otherwise they're just a collection of heavyset women in clogs and scrubs, yaknow?

abeautifulbutterfly · 25/10/2011 09:04

Glad to hear they found nothing wrong cakes, but hope you actually get to stop feeling dizzy Confused. What a star your DH is!

Shonno I like Charlie, too, and Brownwolf of your two names I love Zoe.

Fish have been meaning to say for ages that I'm so glad you got a sympathetic ear from the consultant at last - must be a load off your mind. And huge congrats to your DH too! I am completely untechie and deffo not into that kind of literature, but it's a great achievement and I really hope it's successful. Great time of year for it to come out too!

We are having the most beautiful autumn, just a textbook Polish Golden Autumn with chilly but sunny days, having to turn the heating on now morning and evening (muggins is still first up in the morning so gets to lumber downstairs in my nightie into the freezing cold cellar and turn it on (manual lever, no automatic thermostat...). My girls have colds but nothing much - I am relentlessly and mercilessly dosing them with homemade garlic medicine and it really does the trick. How's your DD this morning Shonno?

Right, must get off MN and actually do some work before school run waddle... TTFN

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/10/2011 09:08

What is it that you do for work butterfly?

shonnomanom · 25/10/2011 09:18

Yip clocks go back on Saturday night. Yesterday dd was confused why we were going to nursery when it was still dark.

Thanks ladies. She didn't stop being sick until 430 this morning. Then she started burning a fever which seems to have sorted itself out. She seems a bit chirper today but wants to drink the house dry and isn't happy I'm not letting her. Tired.com
Hope everything goes well today moobee
cakes glad your ok but sorry about your disappointment in the hospital

abeautifulbutterfly · 25/10/2011 09:21

I'm a self-employed translator, cakes. I get to sit at home all day and MN do what I love. Am lucky in that over the years I've managed to winnow out all the stuff I didn't like (business, law, marketing) and now I virtually do just what I'm interested in anyway - art, history, Judaica, heritage, travel, etc. Guides, catalogues, periodicals. It's a dream job, really, and with the added advantage of being completely flexible so I can spend loads of time with the kids and work in the evening if need be. At the mo I'm doing a guide to the EURO 2012 Polish host cities.

(See, I didn't even make it off MN. Grin)

GiraffeAHolic · 25/10/2011 09:47

Morning all.

Glad things are ok makescakes some of these babies sure are trouble makers.

Hope your dd is feeling better parsley.

There are so many germs around at the moment, I still have no voice at all which is bugging me immensely and I'm boiling hot, I've just turned the thermostat down to 16 degs.

I'll let you know a review on the dreamgenii, it should turn up today or tomorrow. Dh only paid £11 + p&p so if it doesn't work out I'll just lob it back onto EBay [hsmile]

Meant to tell you all, Tesco Direct have Gro-Swaddle blankets reduced to £8.20 amongst other things. I've got the organic plain one as dd was always calmer when swaddled.

Looking forward to MW appointment Thursday, really want to hear CheesyMonster's heartbeat again and check on blood results.

1stBumpityBump · 25/10/2011 09:53

Morning everyone :)
Hope your dd continues to keep getting better shonno, it sounds like she is over the worst at least!
Its good they didn't find anything wrong cakes but still must be very frustrating. :(

butterfly your job sounds brilliant! Your very lucky to be doing something that you clearly love! And get to mn stay at home with the kids aswell!
What does everyone else do? And whens everyone going on mat leave?

greenlady78 · 25/10/2011 09:57

I had written a message and it disappeared! Just wanted to say so glad to hear you are well makescakes!

And shonno glad to hear your little girl is chirpier this morning! :)

We were supposed to have lots of rain in London today, but hey, surprise, surprise, the sun is shining again! Amazing!

Hoping my urine test is free of sugar today!!!! Sort of panicking already and hoping they will offer me the proper sugar test (talked to the other ladies at my yoga class and they were all offered the test regardless! Shock

Have a lovely day ladies! xxx

Moobee · 25/10/2011 10:11

Thanks for all the positive thoughts everyone. :) I rang the doctor this morning and they said, "Hmmm. There is a note on here to call you urgently, but I can't see anything wrong with the results."

We talked about the precise figures and it seems what happened is the doctor who looked at the results saw the post sugar value and confused it with the fasting value.

Anyway, the positive thing is I don't have diabetes! Even though every woman in my family ever seems to have had it during pregnancy. Phew! I can drink orange juice again...

Glad everything is OK cakes. I am resigned to not being in control of this whole process, so as long as people are polite and explain what's happening as best as they can at the time, I'll be happy.

Glad your daughter is feeling better this morning shonno.

Greenlady I'm sure you can request the sugar test rather than wait to be offered. Some places offer it to all women I think (based on yesterday's research - I know loads about the test now).

Butterfly your job does sound amazing. I'd love to be able to speak more languages. I can speak a couple but only to pidgin level (so I can cope with shops if they reply exactly as I expect). It'd be lovely to be more fluent.
