well done fish, great title! Grin

as you can tell i am awake at a stupid hour. stupid rib and stupid snotty nose keeping me awake. tried to knit some of my baby blanket but I'm annoyed with it cos it's gone so WRONG and now I'm wondering whether to try and go back to sleeeeeeeeeeeep

definitely not enough rest going on for THIS pregnant bint.

ParsleyLion1 · 09/10/2011 06:57

Thanks fish Grin

I went to an event at the O2 last night. It was cricket rather than music but there were some loud musical sections going on. I had full scale dancing in my belly! She either loved it or hated it not sure which...

Still it answered my question about my Duran Duran tickets. Concert in May was postponed to mid-December. I think I won't be going- she will hurt me if she boots me that much by then Grin

Deesus · 09/10/2011 07:52

Morning Ladies - love the new thread! I'm going to start running a book on how many threads we get through before the first little ones start making their appearances! I reckon we'll be into double figures....

Sorry to hear about your woes redhead. Lack of sleep makes me crazy. As does the snotty nose thing. Don't know how you cope with gyppy ribs added into the mix!

Shame you have to miss Duran Duran Parsley! Think my little girl bump would've loved that too - seriously, as soon as any 80's pop music comes on (think Wham, etc) she goes mad! I'm going to have to redouble my efforts to get her into Guns N Roses and the like so she can be a proper little rock chick... Wink

Had a good (if tiring) weekend so far. Painted our living room, had table and chairs delivered (just have to put them together now!) and we're off to see a fab huge mirror off someone off gumtree in an hour! We are achieving stuff at last! Have also got someone to look at cavity wall insulation next week, a table at a car boot booked (to get rid of junk and hopefully make some money) and an electrician round the week after....Phew!

fishandlilacs · 09/10/2011 08:11

Morning loves,

sorry to hear of your rib pain and snots Red. It's awful feeling awful as it were.

parsley I too am a huge Duran fan The last time I saw them was fab. I like the O2-were off there soon, taking my mother and DD to see Disney Fantasy on ice but it's a seated gig. Baby probably wont be moving about so much by then anyway-they calm down when theres less room but I know what you mean about going. I have cried off from so many evening events this pregnancy. Just CBA.

Didn't go out yesterday DH finally started on the cupboard, I kept getting all unecessary over him all covered in sawdust and sawing. Phwoar, we finally broke our "drought" last night but it was wholly unsuccesful. He kept getting visits form the "melty man" and now i'm all paranoid that he doesn't fancy me with this huge belly. Cest la vie, at least we tried.

Didn't use my crutches or maternity belt at all yesterday as i was pottering at home but i'm sore again today.

I meant to mention about my friend too. Do you remember I had an exciting phonecall a few weeks back telling me one of my dearest friends is pregnant again at 43 after having to have an elective termination last year because her baby had Patau syndrome and it wouldn't have survived.

Well she went for a 4d scan yesterday and it was in her words "unable to reassure" so shes now going for CVS on tues. I am thinking of her so much. I don't know anything about CVS. I'm so worried for her, it seems so unfair she should be going through this again.

Morning all!

My Abi's is out to please her Grandfather. So far she's bopped about to Dylan and Hendrix. Nothing else music wise has made her groove yet. Not even my rather good read appauling if the reaction of passers by is anything to go by renditions of metal/heavy rock - oh and the occasional muppet song.

Talking of being very pro-active, I must decide on a dalivery time for my stuff from JL soon...and look properly at baby-grows etc (though I think have bagfulls waiting for me from various donors)...buy Xmas pressies...

I'm 2 1/2wks of 3rd trimester (28wks?!) so am still in denial about Abi's birth being so close really. January feels very close, but also very far away.

Ah well, best get over work today first.

Have a lovely day!

Wormshuffler · 09/10/2011 09:17

Nice one fish , scary stuff about your friend, I have everything crossed for her.

I am taking dd 12 to see Katy Perry in 5th Nov, we will see what bump thinks to that! I don't think the noise bothers them as apparently a concert is nowhere near as noisy as the womb is all on its own! I certainly would still go and see duran duran if I felt up to it !

ParsleyLion1 · 09/10/2011 09:20

I think it was Lady Gaga that made her go especially bonkers - it was something cheerleadery anyway :)

Sorry to hear about your friend fish that must be such a worry for her.

ghosteditor · 09/10/2011 09:55

Hi ladies, fab thread title!

I went to an NCT nearly new sale yesterday and came away with lots of stuff (Inc a Seraphine maternity dress and a topshop one for £11 in total!) so I feel a bit less negligent now. Plus, I picked up the Boots changing bag and activated my advantage card points (10 points per pound on baby stuff). Love ticking things off my to do list!

Sadly it's all about work today as I prep for a work trip - ironing, packing, reading, and planning. But I got a few baby things done yesterday and helped SIL find a flat to rent so it's all good!

Wormshuffler · 09/10/2011 10:30

I went to a nct sale too ghost! I got a maternity dress next , a tony baby carrier, top and tail bowl, and light and sound night light all for £12!

Mum2be79 · 09/10/2011 10:33

Woo Hoo!!! Third trimester here I come. 28 weeks today.

I have just cleared the attic with DH and now I'm knackered!

shonnomanom · 09/10/2011 10:35

Thanks for the new thread fish your countdown made me chuckle. Sorry to hear of your friends baby worries x
Well done on the productive shopping ghost
And well don't everyone else on your DIY weekends!

I had my 5w old niece overnight on Friday. Was fine once I remembered how needy new norms are. Although pregnancy tiredness and newborn induced tiredness are not a good mix!

Woke up during the night with the cough dd had last week. Thanks dd Hmm shame we're not allowed lemsip.

So if the third trimester starts at 28weeks then today I'm officially in the Third. Don't know if on excited or scared. Prob both x

Mum2be79 · 09/10/2011 10:45

I'm beginning to feel rather worried - especially as I was out last night with friends and the focus of discussions was on birth Shock

Moobee · 09/10/2011 11:01

I hope everything goes well for your friend Fish.

Well done on all the bargains, I've not been to an NCT sale yet - I thought about it...

Off to Ikea today to try and find a new kitchen. We're having it installed in a weeks time so have to get one soon!

redheadbedhead · 09/10/2011 12:02

oooh i'm jealous of the NCT bargains, I keep missing the ones near me cos of work. hope there's some more soon.

in the fog of all my early morning moaning I totally forgot to say that on the plus side in my life at the moment my husband was a TOTAL LEGEND yesterday and I was overcome with his kindness. I got back from a rehearsal and he had cleared out our bedroom and made it look all tidy and nice (it was one of the things that was stressing me out - that our bedroom was a junky pigsty not fit for a newborn). He'd gone to a lot of effort and done loads of other jobs as well. What a good one. I can rent him out to any of you for a small fee if you'd like some tidying done Grin

Parsley i think you should go to the Duran concert for sure - won't the babies be much more squashed up by then and the kicking less obvious? I'm going to go and watch Stewart Lee in December - I know it's not the same thing - but I reckon it's doable without too much pain!

eeeeeeek can't believe 3rd trimester is starting for some of you, amazing. I am only 25 wks so feel like I'm way behind!

BigHotMama · 09/10/2011 12:53

Yeah a nice new thread Grin

red I'm with you on feeling little behind am 25 weeks in Wednesday so at least your in front of me ha! Your dh sounds perfect wish mine would do more tidying around house but he does cook and prepare all our meals so can't complain really.

Well smurf is loving 'bat out of hell' by meatloaf everytime we perform it the belly goes wild and I'm probably throwing some seriously wierd shapes on stage.

I'm off to see Miles Kane in few weeks before i get too big and swollen, but decided to back out of a few concerts in nov and dec due to being standing all night I prefer a seat if pos.

Sorry to hear about your friend fish must be a worry hope all cones back positive for her.

Well done on all the nct bargains sounds wonderful. I really want to buy the m&p jamboree nursery decor but dh thinks it's too pricey I'm hoping to persuade him as baby has loads of hand me downs and things borrowed so not got to splash too much on new stuff.

Think we have chosen our names after much debate. We like Sonny for boy and Scarlett for a girl.

mumtobe talking about birth scares the hell out of me but it's also good to get a variety of thoughts so you can at least prepare for anything to happen. I was so deluded first time round this time I won't be writing my perfect birth plan as it was pointless. Although it's scary I do love to hear birth stories. Haven't been addicted to the birthing programmed on tv like last time.

Smurf has taken a liking to my left rib it feels like a hard pressing sensation that I want to stretch out from but cant grrr!

Absolutely starving today!

Am I the only one who hasn't had their matb1 cert for work? Chasing it up is turning into a nightmare! Got to hand forms in this week and still waiting on this!

Putting my feet up today after 2 very very late gigs (didn't get in till 3am this morning)

Hope everyone has a relaxing day x

shonnomanom · 09/10/2011 13:13

Lovely names bhm we'r no further forward in that department. Was looking at the national statistics for baby names the other day for inspiration. There are a few names that I like which haven't made the top 100 the last 2years so their contenders.

red what kinda of price are we looking at for your dh to come do some tidying?

Feel like my throat has been lined with sandpaper Sad

BigHotMama · 09/10/2011 16:12

shonna we will probably change our minds days before the birth like we did last minute with ds.

Hope your throat eases up it's the pits not being able to dose up on stronger painkillers.

ParsleyLion1 · 09/10/2011 16:21

We're no nearer. We keep thinking about it and then saying "never mind we've got 4 more months". Wink

Oeisha · 09/10/2011 18:11

fish Fingers crossed for your friend.

BHM good name choices. Grin Love the though of LO dancing in there and actually being able to see the shapes in the lighting on stage! Heheheh!

My DH keeps going all gooey at the sight of my massive bump. It's very cute. Am feeling knackered about as sexy as a postage stamp, and whilst I like DH finding bump a lovely it's not making me feel very sexy. But then at the moment I just want to BE ASLEEP. Abi kept me awake for 3 friggin hours bashing about (41 movements). Got to hear unhealthy amounts of 'the world service' and managed to fall back asleep basically not that long before GP started! Did wake for tha last half of race so at least got to see that before work! I'm refusing to have a nap now in the hope that being so tired I have to go to bed at 9 or just fall asleep where I'm sat, will make me sleep though Abi's bashings....wanna bet it wont work!?

To anyone that hasn't had the MATb1 then I got mine at my 25week appointment from MW. You can request it from your GP if the MW isn't forthcoming.

As for birth plans. Mine goes something like "would like a birthing pool and entonox, maybe injections, but no epi if at all possible" and that's about it. Don't expect to get the birthing pool either "there are loads of january births due...it's going to be an interstesting month". Beyond that, well, who knows. I've always been told I'll find childbirth less of a shock due to the frankly shite times I've had with period pains (36h of crippling, vomitting, unable to walk agony - I've had to grab mobiles off of people to stop them dialling 999)Most of me thinks they're talking bollocks, it's going to hurt like hell and be a lot worse than that, but at least I'll get something at the end of it other than a 23 day break. I kinda knew my periods weren't "proper" ones to begin with as I had a relatively easy time of it. And behold, I concieved straight after having a nightmare one.

I've known plenty of women who's plans have gone to hell very quickly, so, if this doesn't sound too weird, I don't want to get my hopes up?! I don't want to be so fixed on 'this is how it's going to be' that if it doesn't go like that I'm going to get upset...IYSWIM??

I've decided that the limited edition Mars Bar triple choc. was a great invention. I seem to be able to keep that down! When I need a quick sugar-fix they've worked well, (I've not seen them again at least) 3 times now Grin.

P.S I've been living on manuka honey, melted in decaf tea and Green bay manuka honey suckers (available in a few places, inc. waitrose where I've sourced them) whenever I've had a cold or have puked so much my throat hurts.

mummyzoe2012 · 09/10/2011 18:22

hiya all, got my 25 week appointment tomorrow so will be exciting to hear ames heart beat again also not long now till we go for our 4d scan. so exciting. we are going to steam the carpet in the nursery and then asembel the cot!

dp put his head on my bump last night and ame gave him a huge kick in the ear and cheek, it was the biggest kick he has ever felt.

ParsleyLion1 · 09/10/2011 18:25

oeisha your night sounds very much like mine except I woke about 15 mins before the GP! OH slept through and has had a nap this afternoon. I'm trying not to so that I sleep tonight.

I've signed up for the hypnobirthing classes I was dithering about the other day and the trainer wants to know what sort of birth I'm planning.

In the end I said hospital and water if poss. I didn't think that "I just thought I'd try and go with the flow really" was what she was after!

Spagbolagain · 09/10/2011 18:33

Found you!

redheadbedhead · 09/10/2011 18:53

spagbol every time i see your name it makes me so hungry!!!

addictediam · 09/10/2011 19:17

Hi ladies sorry i haven't caught up yet, i just need some non pariniod advice and possibly a good slapping!

This morning my sister (16 months, so not her fault) jumped into my arms and need me very hard in the stomach, since then I've felt a handful of very week kicks, although it more feels like the popping when I first felt kicks. I'm really worried somthing is wrong, but dont really know what to do.

Just tell me she's fine and im being silly.
