Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
voodoomunkee · 30/09/2011 07:03

I must see every hour in! Grrr. Trying to motivate myself off the settee to get ready and sort the kids out and I know I'm going to make myself run late but am just too tired. However the bubs has just been having a good wriggle about which has amused my dd no end. Definitely running out of space in there! Well time to get ready to face the bloody heat and my colleague who is determined to cause as much bother as possible. Can't say am happy about it. Have a good Friday everyone! Chip hope all goes well x

bumpandisaacsmum · 30/09/2011 07:20

Just a quick post to say Agood luck Chip & Sylvie Rose* hope all goes smoothly today xx

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 30/09/2011 10:21

Good luck Chip and Sylvie Rose!!!

CazandBelle · 30/09/2011 14:27

moan moan grumble grumble.

TOO. HOT!

Can't wait to hear that Slyvie-Rose is home :) hope everything is going smoothly...

How is Willow doing poppet?

alicat10 · 30/09/2011 15:50

Me too. Living the almost empty washing basket but had to resort to driving the 500m to school as pelvis and heat together have ruled out walking -

Caliphora · 30/09/2011 16:42

Yes. Too hot.

Today was IKEA day!!! We got there as they opened, had breakfast, filled the trolley up, got everything on our list - all the while Sprout made me walk funny by headbutting my cervix!!! So painful! I've also been waking up with really bad period pains lately, so I think we're nearly there. 36 weeks on Monday!

Yes, Chip - can't wait to hear!

Busy weekend for me, as I've got lots of friends coming over for a BBQ - should keep my mind off the house guest who reached another low yesterday by taking the keys to the back door without asking me. I had plumbers coming around to look at our pipes in the yard - guess who couldn't open the door for them?!
Luckily she's out on Saturday.

juststarting · 30/09/2011 19:33

Cali that house guest sounds absurd. You couldnt make it up!
Tough tough week. I've part way through a training doctorate, and basically, everyone I am training with finished today, so a very emotional day for various reasons, a long tough week with a mega commute and monday morning I am back on my placement for another four weeks while everyone else is finished, and then when I come back after maternity leave, still got a thesis to write and another placement to do, so I am jealous and happy for peole and sad and feel lonely and bloody tired out. And yes, also not sleeping and now also WAY too hot. Given me quite the headache today. I'd like to take snotbags DS to the beach AND the wood tomorrow in a wierd Summer/Autumn crosss over, but fear anything that doesnt involve deep shade will have to take place before about half ten in the morning.

stripeymummy · 30/09/2011 20:00

Why did I decide to choose the hottest day of the last month to spend the afternoon in the kitchen over the stove making chutney?! Think I need my head examined Hmm.

Proteins still high according to obs yesterday, but still normal BP etc, and it's only a trace. But due to my heart problem they put me on a 24 hour urine test - which was fun, having to decant all my pee into a 1ltr bottle, then carry it back on the bus to the hospital in this heat (kept having visions of dropping it - ugh!), but I got it back safely. So fingers crossed all is ok, and they're just being overly cautious. The obs did say that traces are reasonably common in the final month due to discharge etc.

Chip and Sylvie-Rose good luck with going back home. Let us know how it goes. It must be so exciting and relieving for you.

Cali I'd see about getting your landlord to sort the mould out before the Winter kicks in, it could be bad for the lungs.

Not much else to report bar being too hot, and having swollen feet, which everyone is suffering from - looks like it's cooling down Up North though, thank god :o. The ILs are visiting this weekend, so will probably be totally knackered by Monday.

Hope everyone has a good weekend :) xx

neverinamillionyears · 30/09/2011 20:06

Evening all. Good luck to Chip and Sylvie Rose. I'm sure Chip will just spend her time staring at her. Think that is going to be my new past time in a few weeks.

It's odd hearing you all say only a couple of weeks or so. I'm only 32 weeks tomorrow so waaaaaay behind.

I'm with you all it's too damn HOT. Eugh

juststarting · 30/09/2011 20:43

And I cant eat my dinner! Ugli Fruit has decided to choose this time to learn to jive. NOT comfortable!
Never, I am 33 weeks tomorrow, so not too far behind me.

Poppet45 · 30/09/2011 22:34

We've had a good day too! At the tender age of 33 weeks and one day, and after five weeks and five days 'inside', Willow has graduated out of her incubator to a cot! Came in today to find her lying under lots of blankets and layers like a wool-clad starfish! She looked too cute in the 7lb hugiferous sleepsuit they'd put on her and a cardie with the sleeves all rolled up. Made my day! She's so much more like MY baby now I can lean over and touch her without having to open doors, I can just lie my hand on her tum or stroke her hair just like I used to with DS when he was small. Wonderful. She also puked on my boobs during a cuddle, attempted to poo everywhere during a nappy change and has moved up to a less miniscule size of specialist neonatal nappy. Happy days!!

chipmonkey · 01/10/2011 01:03

Poppet Yay for the cot! It is such a big day when that happens!Grin The girl beside us in SCBU saw her dd in a cot today too after 10 weeks in an incubator. She was close to tears!

Well, I am exhausted! Got up at 3am to express, got dh up at 4 am and drove to the hospital for the 5 am appointment. The ophthalmologist came out to talk to me and told me that she did have a touch of ROP last week but it has now resolved and he won't need to see her for 8 weeks!Grin I am so happy and relieved!

And we are now home with our little darling! Dh and I were wracked with nerves during the car journey but she is home, in her Moses basket and her brothers all adore her! Ds4 was bringing blankets over to her cot for her and looking in at her saying "That's my sister!"

So, so happy to have her home.

In an odd way, I will miss the hospital too. The nurses and doctors were amazing and I made some good friends. But hopefully we will all keep in touch.

pandia · 01/10/2011 03:20

Yay for both the little girls. Such great news that they have both graduated to cot/home. Big congrats to chip and poppet you must be so relieved, and lots of respect for everything you've been through over past few weeks. Much as having s big baby bump is hard it can't be as hard as dealing with physical and emotional aspects of a preemie.
Well I can't sleep. This insomnia is driving me crazy. Doc did say that in extremis you can take piriton, the drowsy antihistamine you can buy over counter, but not every night and took it last 2 nights so tonight had to be night off. Result-awake since 1 Sad

Merlioness · 01/10/2011 04:27

Oh chip I am doing the shimy here for little Sylvie-Rose being home! And fantastic news about her eyes!

Poppet I am so glad about Willow graduated to a cot and bigger nappies. It must be fantastic to see these steps. I really hope that Willow too can soon go home to be with her family.

Cali Grr your houseguest actually makes me angry. Urgh!
Glad Ikea was nice though :)

Ladies, really sorry you are all feeling so hot. I really know how you feel and keep fleeing to airconditioned places. I have started feeling too hot when sleeping, so the aircon setting has dropped from 27 to 23 degres at night! DH is sleeping in warm PJs and I wonder if he?ll need a hat soon Wink
Had antenatal class yesterday and babies here should sleep in a room cooled to 26 degrees, so I hope that the mad heat I?m feeling will disappear after bubs is born!

I am also only 32+3, so I join in with the back of the queue.

Last day at work was emotional and I felt completely drained. My Manager however basically told me that there will always be a role waiting for me, so that cheered me up.

Merlioness · 01/10/2011 04:28

Sorry, no idea how I keep making these odd characters!

Pandia hope sleep comes soon for you

SnoozleDoozle · 01/10/2011 04:51

Another insomniac here! Can't even blame the heat, the rain has poured down all day and earlier this evening the roads were all flooded, which was dramatic....

cookie9 · 01/10/2011 05:50

Poppet such good news willow is now in a cot

Chip great news about the appointment and how fantastic slyvie Rose is home! You must be delighted.

Insomnia is a bugger. Isnt this the time we are meant to get lots if sleep so we can cope when the baby comes?

Had strange dream where I woke up to discover was halfway through birth ie baby's head was out but i was at home and all alone. Great so either I can't sleep or get weird dreams

SnoozleDoozle · 01/10/2011 06:25

Cookie I was thinking about this the other night as I lay tossing and turning. All I could think was 'if I had to feed a baby at this time of the morning, I wouldn't mind at all, because I'm wide awake anyway'. But of course, I know with certainty that in a couple of months time, I will no doubt be fast asleep at 4am and dreading having to get up for a feed!

Having said that, last time round it wasn't the middle of the night feed that bothered me, I always found I could wake fairly easily for that one, and even get back to sleep again afterwards. The one that killed me was the breakfast time feed - dragging myself out of my sleep at 7.30 or 8am was much harder for some reason, even though I was obviously used to being up at that time pre-motherhood anyway.

alicat10 · 01/10/2011 08:19

Chip Yay, yay, yay for Sylvie-Rose - fantastic to have her home - I have to admit I missed all the monitors when I brought DS home, felt I needed to be close enough to hear his breathing for weeks! And excellent news about her eyes.

Poppet Yay, yay, yay for Willow too that's brilliant progress.

Well I've slept much better the last 2 nights so feeling much better - still toilet trips and waking to turn but no really prolonged periods of wakefulness. Even with all the night feeds with my 1st too I felt I got better sleep as when you were asleep it was really good quality deep sleep which we haven't had for months.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I am planning a quietish one - need to do a big shop, some cooking and to fill party bags and wrap pass the parcel for DD's party next Sat.

cep · 01/10/2011 08:50

morning ladies, woken up to some fantastic news. so so pleased for you both chip and poppet

chip so pleased her eyes have sorted themselves out, and how fabulous to have her home.

poppet so many triumphs in one go, so pleased for you, and how lovely she's in a cot.

i'm another one who keeps waking up during the night, but usually can thankfully get back to sleep, i have the odd night that it takes ages.

and it is soo hot.

oh i saw the consultant yesterday, so blooming annoying, he was late going in, then it wasn't my normal consultant, he was nigerian with a really strong accent, so i couldn't understand most of what he was saying. he didn't look at any of the info she printed from my scan, so didn't check baby size or the weight i'd gained. checked position of baby and told me didn't need to see me again until i was 41 wks is still no baby. so i doubled checked still was ok to go to mlu, and he started talking about how the original consultant recommended hosp, i said i know but he said they'd support my decision and he was ok with it when speaking to him. grrr really thought he was going to start throwing up hurdles at this late stage.

hope everyone has a fab weekend.

Staceroo · 01/10/2011 10:17

So pleased to hear good news from chip & poppet!!! Grin

Off to mw in a few minutes, so just a quick check and hello! Hope all have nice weekends! xxx

MooseyMoo · 01/10/2011 11:37

Woo for Willow and Sylvie-Rose, you've made your mummies and daddies very proud.

Can't believe what lovely weather we are having. Am hiding behind curtains at mo in summer dress, that luckily still fits. Having a bbq later - yum!

I know I'm getting old when I think, oooh good day for drying washing outside Hmm.

Hope you all have lovely weekends.

H007 · 01/10/2011 12:57

It's toooooo hot! Led in the lounge which is hot and can't really open windows or doors much cos of kitten Grrrr.... I too decided it was a washing day today so have washed a blanket which was knitted by a good friend of my Grandad's (he died last summer) and used as a christening blanket for my uncle my step-nan decided to give it to me to pass it on as he thought that's what my grandad would have wanted :) but it smelt of mothballs :( so washed it at 30 on a wool wash with powder and conditioner and there is still a hint of the smell :( anyone have any ideas? At the moment wondering whether to stick it back in the machine at 40 but figured I'd ask you lovely ladies :) Also got a load of babygrows on at the moment, bedding is next hopefully is I don't keel over with the heat first!

So pleased with all the good news regarding our premature babies :) and keep cool every one!!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 01/10/2011 13:25

H007,

hang it outside for as long as you can, dont wash any hotter just in case and tbh I never bother with conditioner, just use a wool wash liquid and fresh air always always helps :)

Thankfully it's turned cool and cloudy up here, so apart from not being able to get the washing done am quite happy supervising DH as he does some diy for me, getting the house straight is actually nicer when he is there, we are watching an american football game i recorded for him a while ago and at the end of every quarter he potters off to do a little more then has a week break in front of the box after a while, very civilised me thinks!!! Am quite proud that I have figured out quarters at all, american football is def not my thing, but it makes him happy so thats the main thing i guess

Have a lovely Sat guys

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 01/10/2011 13:26

wee not week - doh!!!
