Cali and Caz and lk positive thoughts beaming out of Edinburgh here! Go ladies! And babies, listen to me - get those arms and legs tucked in and chin down - you can do it you are all very clever.

Merl get that army of white blood cells marching to your tooth! (Can you tell I like visualisation techniques :) ) Hope it eases up very soon.

bump met to - I laughed loud at boob on bus! I got a kick in teh ribs for waking The Boy up :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Little Miss Ali hope she has a lovely day.

Tjuice that sounds like a heavenly break :) I've looked at visiting Aarhus I've heard it is beautiful. We used to have flights direct - not sure if teh route is still running? One to check out.

And Poppet excellent excellent news. Big watery smile here I can't even imagine how it made you feel. So pleased.

All good here, no more "stuff". Work is draining me of every last drop of energy. A week and a half to go. Feels like forever. Boss just keeps giving me new stuff constantly. I'm trying to get my cover to take the lead but he is backing off, petrified. So I'm trying to hold it together so he doesn't throw in the towel before I leave.

My boss actually asked me to work another week - I told him I would be hitting 38 weeks at that point, so did he have his scissors ready for cutting the cord? He was completely grossed out at the idea. If he pushes me further I'll be going in with everything I have - jelly, nipple cheese - he doesn't know gross!

Good luck Caz

Thinking of you too Cali

BuffyFan · 11/10/2011 10:56

PamSco I sympathise! My immediate bosses are both lovely, and desperately trying to protect me from just what you're experiencing. The problem is I also work for about 5 other people who just don't get the point. Thankfully one of them has just become a father so is becoming slightly more understanding.

Another would really like it if I didn't finish work until a colleague is back off her maternity leave - on my due date! And he's trying to hand work to me to protect his number 2 who is really busy - surely he could think of somebody better than me??

Having a day working at home today (MW this afternoon) is really helping my sanity levels - is that something you can do?

Thinking of Caz and Cali

34 weeks today and wondering at what I've got coming - BH, nipple cheese, what else?

Caliphora · 11/10/2011 12:30

I'm home! After BP going back to great levels through the night, and Sprout behaving on the CTG - great stuff! I did start having small, soft contractions last night, and they did me good, here's the bonus: They did an internal this morning, my cervix is soft and opening (1 finger apparently), so if the need to induce me, it will be easier for them!
After the internal I've had a few contraction with low strength, so it could all kick off soon (or, knowing my luck, take two weeks).

Exciting times - but most of all it's fantastic to be at home, on my own sofa, with my fridge, TV and laptop at beck and call!

Thinking so much of Caz today - can't wait to hear her news!

MooseyMoo · 11/10/2011 12:46

Cali woo hoo! Glad you are home and .... Ding dong the guest has gone Grin

caz thinking of you, Jon and xander today fingers crossed all those contractions make induction short and sweet.

Had 36 wk appt yest and baby was too active for mw to check position. So booked in fir presentation scan next week. She thought baby was head down but wants to be sure. Get to see baby again
Grin

Hope everyone else is ok.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 11/10/2011 13:36

Afternoon ladies,

Snoozle, hope your last day is going well, lying on the sofa day tomorrow then?

Stace, taking my bra off is often the first thing that I do when I get in the house, such total bliss!!!

Well done Willow, she is coming along leaps and bounds Poppet :o

Merlioness - hope your tooth stays ok until at least after the birth, one less thing to hurt after all!!!

Pam, get your boss told, I had to give up a week and a half before I had set my finishing date and feel much better than I would had I struggled on, think my boss was quite relieved to have me gone too, there were a few comments about not giving birth in the office which I took as a badly mad joke....

Cali, glad you are home safe and sound, enjoy the rest and lets hope that Sprout comes as soon as you want them to...

Well, had my last and final antenatal appointment this morning, have my induction booked in for Monday 24th October, have to go the day before and then the mw said that I wont be leaving without baby bump, at which point I freaked out a bit about the idea that in two weeks bubs is hopefully going to be at home with us, well, outside of the bump anyway, hopefully...

Got not many more days left to tidy up this house, so have a good day everyone...

H007 · 11/10/2011 14:07

Need a little hand holding please ladies... My Bean's movements have changed over the last few days :( from a very active strong kicking little lady to having much less frequent, lighter bubbling type movements. Yesterday morning I woke up and told OH that my bump had changed that it felt different, and today I'm not even sure if I've felt her... Phoned up the MW and she said to phone the day assessment unit who have booked me in at 3pm so fingers and toes crossed that she's moved and is hiding, although I'm not even sure if at 34 + 5 she can hide?

Bluetinkerbell · 11/10/2011 14:11

H007 thinking of you! will pray everything is ok with your Bean! x

SnoozleDoozle · 11/10/2011 14:58

H007, I'll hold your hand too. I don't know that much about it, its purely 'someone told me' rather than medical fact but I do know that some ladies I have known say that they found they could feel much less movement in the last few weeks, due to a combination of the baby getting into position and the fact that there is just much less room in there. Anyway, the main thing is that you get to the assessment centre and get properly looked after.

Merlioness · 11/10/2011 15:12

Thinking of you and baby H007

TerrysNo2 · 11/10/2011 15:14

Hi all

Been lurking but can't keep up! Just wanted to say a massive good luck to Caz today and Cali I hope things get going for you too.

H007 I hope your appointment shows baby moving and healthy. It might just be running out of room to make such big movements.

Great to hear that baby Willow is doing well.

Love to all and here's to lots of healthy babies in the next weeks. xxx

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 11/10/2011 15:38

H007, best of luck, am sure that everything will be fine and baby is just getting cramped in there, let us know soon as you can.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/10/2011 15:41

Glad you're home Cali and relax...

Hope all goes well for Caz

PamSco if you can afford it/want to, why don;t you go off sick in your last week to force your mat leave to start. That would show your boss what an arse he is being!

Hi Terrys hope all is OK. Are you one of us that is after a HB?

H007 I think I too have heard that movements do slow down in the final weeks as baby runs out of room and starts to engage into the pelvis.
I am having fewer big kicks from the legs and alot more hand movements as this one's head engages further.
I am looking forward to meeting this baby but I will also miss being pg (last one for me). My hair is so damn glossy atm!!

voodoomunkee · 11/10/2011 15:47

H007, like others have said it is probably because the baby is running out of space. However you are in the best place going to the day assessment. Good luck and lots of hand holding!

Hope Caz is doing alright.

I, like others, often get a shock when I see people are off to be induced etc. Where has the time gone!!

I have been having a think today about what on earth am going to do with the dc's when I go into labour. I haven't even decided whether to have homebirth or not! However regardless of homebirth options I dont want the kids there. My son would be plugged into his Xbox and definitely would not even want to know what was going on by dd1 is a different kettle of fish. If it is snowy/icy like it was last Nov here then I really dont want my parents to have to come out as they are getting on a bit and traipsing out on an icy night in the car is not good. Unfortunately the hospital I would be going to is the opposite direction to my parents!! Oh dear. Never mind the logistics will work out - an ideal delivery would be between 9 and 2 in between the school run haha!!

Hope everyone is ok

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/10/2011 16:16

voodoo I do have MIL round the corner but she's going on holiday at the end of Nov - so if I am late...
I'm hoping this baby comes in the middle of the night cos DD will sleep through anything. I am also not a screamer more of a groaner.

Once I hit 37 weeks i intend to so things that make me sigh with pleasure as that will help release the labour hormones. Sex, orgasms, massage, facial, a nice glass of wine with a good film, music etc - it's all about the hormones! :)

H007 · 11/10/2011 16:59

Thank you lovely ladies for all the hands :) Bean has a healthy heart beat and hiccups however still being naughty on the whole movement front... Only had 1 definate movement all day so I have to go back tomorrow for more monitoring am just so happy that I've heard her heartbeat though :)

cookie9 · 11/10/2011 17:10

H007 read babies do move less once bigger and also once head engaged. Hopefully you will be meeting your baby soon.

Midwife appointment went well baby measuring spot on for size and although head not engaged baby isn't back to back.

Mrs a love the idea of pleasure week to bring on labour

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 11/10/2011 17:22

H007, glad to hear that Bean is okay, what a relief for you!

Week of pleasure sounds good, I just am aiming for another week to get the house in some state of order so it has a better starting point to go to wrack and ruin when bubs arrives Wink

voodoomunkee · 11/10/2011 18:34

H007 glad to hear the baby is ok despite the extra monitoring needed.
I have been to collect the pram! So lovely, am really pleased we went for that one and got the carrycot. Just need the bubs now! Mw tomorrow. Hopefully she's staying the right way round etc. 36 weeks today.

alicat10 · 11/10/2011 18:56

h007 really glad to hear bean ok, hopefully she'll be having a busy day tmw!

On movements when you are close to term - don't be lulled into thinking it's lack of space reducing movements ALWAYS get checked - I think DS's movements prob were less but I didn't get checked straight away and so he stayed in longer than he should so ended up in NICU. DD's reduced movements at term led to her being born by CS within 24 hours. Most of the time the baby is absolutely fine but for the sake of a couple of hours of yours and hospitals time double check as one of you might be like me and have a placenta that gets a bit warn out towards the end. I would say frequency of movements should stay the same just maybe more wiggles and pushes rather than flips & kicks!

Cannot get Caz off my mind, roll on news of Xander's 1st cuddles!

Voodoo yay for pram - I too am hoping my CS will be done and I'll be out of recovery in time for DH to collect DS from school - we will have to come up with a plan B but not sure what that will be!

alicat10 · 11/10/2011 19:24

Caz must have read my mind - just been a post of Facebook that there's no news yet.

Another thought on movements is to try the usuals - I find a pint of something cold and sugary (eg ribena) often works or I get out the big guns of coke and chocolate if that doesn't work

kate393 · 11/10/2011 19:24

poppet fab news about willow, yay!
cant wait for news from caz hope shes having a cuddle as i write this!
h007 good news on check up, maybe just baby getting in new position and less room.
cali whoop for being home and taking over the sofa Grin and no houseguest anymore....thank god!
MW in morn....had really annoying sharp pain (down there!) at precisely 6pm both today and yesterday now so going to ask about it. from what ive read though could be babys head engaging....anyone else experienced? Its like a sharp stab right in the bits, worse when walking and just for a couple of seconds at a time, but literally stops me in tracks! Shock

voodoomunkee · 11/10/2011 19:34

Ah I hope Xander comes out safely!
That's good advice re the movements. Tis difficult to not feel a pest I suppose though.
MrsA have just told OH that very shortly he has some duty to be doing! Ha. I'm planning on going to the hairdressers and getting a decent cut and catching up with some friends when I actually get to ML. I do wonder if I'll go on ML and then out she decides to pop so I don't get any chill out time!

Staceroo · 11/10/2011 20:06

voodoo I've been thinking the same, that I prob won't get any chill time before ML!

I'm glad everyones been talking about the stabbing pain down below and the painful BH as I've been getting this a lot more now. Will mention it to MW when she comes round on Friday.

Does anyone know why the 36 week appointment is a home visit??? They've not really explained why they're coming round.

Can't wait to hear from caz.

Cali glad you're back home and comfortable!

Looking on kiddicare for mattresses... any ideas??? I can spend £30 or £200!!! I can't believe the choice, seems a bit crazy to me, surely all of them will be baby safe, so why spend so much money, when £30 will do...????

Caliphora · 11/10/2011 21:30

Stace We got a "cold foam" mattress from IKEA for £35, on recommendation of my mother who sells mattresses (not from IKEA ;)) for a living.

There is no need spending 100's on it.
