Bluetinkerbell · 19/09/2011 14:03

Hi ladies! Everything ok?
No news from Caz yet? sitting here impatiently! Praying and hoping all is ok with her and Xander!

I'm doing fine! Have AF atm, but this month we're definitely ttc, as I would like to get a BFP before Sterre's due date, which was the 3rd of November!

Hang in there ladies! you're almost there! Grin

voodoomunkee · 19/09/2011 14:21

Cep, after a good nights sleep for the most part! I swear the older they get the worse it is.

Hey Blue, how are you doing? Fingers crossed for a BFP for you! Would be lovely for you to have a BFP before Sterre's due date but equally as lovely if it was after as well.

PamSco · 19/09/2011 14:47

Hey Blue best of luck on the ttc.

Having a "oh no I actually feel pregnant" day today. Other than something wriggling about in there I haven't felt that pregnant over the last months. I've felt grotty, great, energetic and knackered but something is different today. My bump feels, well, electric? Buzzy? Not in a bad way, but in an alive way.

I'm talking nonsense aren't I?

Tjuice I love the bike links you are posting. I'd really like a tricycle style one. I wonder if we could do a camper van holiday to DEnmark to pick one up in a year or 2 - hmmm there's a thought.

Folic Merl earlier you were both discussing a Singapore meet - add me, add me! I'm in negotiation with OH regarding a trip to Oz (Perth) next year my pal leaves the UK next week (gulp, sob) - can't decide if spring or autumn is best. Would love a stop over.

I may slip home soon, got a headache - managed to have a spectacular chunder between carpark and building this morning, booooo. Still not sure if this is gallstones or morning sickness (my mam had it up to 7 mths with me)?

voodoomunkee · 19/09/2011 15:19

Ha, the extent of my work today is amazing, I just took a pic of my very pregnant looking bump while I sit at my desk.

Staceroo · 19/09/2011 15:41

voodoo that's more than I've done all day today!

Love the fact that as long as I'm sat at my desk tapping away, no one knoews! I feel I deserve the quiet days here and there though to make up for the manic days where I work my butt off!

Blue nice to here from you, and good luck ttc! Keep us posted!

Which reminds me, anyone thought of what they are going to do post babies arrival re getting or not getting pg again? We probably will have more kiddies, but prob not straight away and wondering whether to rely on this breastfeeding as a contraception malarky? I'd never heard about it until mw mentioned it yesterday. She also said the only pill you can take whilst bf is the mini pill... ie. not the one I'm usually on. Any thoughts?

Caliphora · 19/09/2011 15:46

PamSco I miss the cycling aspect of Scandinavia - England is just too bumpy/full of cars! When I lived in London I did cycle lots, but always felt like I was gambling with death...

Blue Yay - TTC time! Have fun :o

voodoo I'm a tiny tiny person, and I was hoping for a neat 6-7lbs baby like my sister and I. Unfortunately, DP was 9lbs 12. (gulp).
Also, how many weeks are you going to be when you go on ML? I'm due in 6 weeks!

Obviously today Sprout has regained all her energy and is trying to get her head as deep into my pelvis as possible... Oh sigh.

voodoomunkee · 19/09/2011 15:53

Cali 38 weeks. Am 2 weeks behind you. Also I have an extremely low threshold for boredom, hence working as late as I can. I dont have to do too much that is the condition of me staying as long as I can. I am purely here in guidance to the incompetent coming back to take over my job. I am only 5'4 by the way, XP was 6'0 and OH is 5'10. Plus when I agreed it OH didnt have a job! I know that if I take any sick leave soon they will kick my ML in so am not too worried and I really would like to feel like I had finished everything and could go off with a clear mind. Bear in mind also that technically I could be starting my Masters next year so it is more than just ML in my mind!

Stace I am having NO MORE. NONE. 3 is enough!! I have heard about BF being a contraceptive but I wouldnt trust it. I am also afraid as to what I am going to do. However the rate we are going it will be a non problem anyways!

Caliphora · 19/09/2011 16:28

Stace We're waiting until Sprout is out of nappies. We never used contraception though, as we were told this baby couldn't happen, so I'm now looking woefully at condoms - I hate the buggers! I'm not going to go on any type of hormonal contraceptive, I think they may have effected my fertility problems in the first place...

voodoo brave, brave lady!

cep · 19/09/2011 16:44

i certainly wouldn't trust bf as a contraceptive, have heard too many stories of women getting pg straight after.

This is my last one as well, i'll probably go straight back on the pill.

blue glad you're doing well my dear, fx for the bfp soon.

KellyKettle · 19/09/2011 17:13

Blue! Good news about the TTC! Keep us posted won't you (on the outcome not the action, IYSWIM).

Hello everyone! Last week in work for me . I can't wait. My right hip is so sore and I just feel so tired - and I'm only 34.5 weeks.

stace I used to take the mini-pill but found it didn't agree with me. This was at least 10 years ago so things might have improved by now. I find that a small baby is contraceptive enough for me but as hormonal contraception just isn't for me we use condoms too. I have briefly looked at natural family planning but BF tends to interfer with temps for charting and I am quite lazy so unlikely to get reliable results.

Using BF as contraceptive is called LAM and is pretty reliable but there are quite a few criteria which I suspect not many manage to keep up - feeding on demand, napping with your baby (co-sleeping), bed-sharing (I think), no dummies, bottles or solids and baby wearing rather than using a pram.

That's off the top of my head so check it first. I unintentionally ended up following these with DD (well, she had solids at 6 months) and my periods didn't return until she was about 20 months I think. I had one period and was pregnant before the next (mmc).

I guess it depends on how much you could manage a second pregnancy before intentionally ttc again.

Any update from Caz? Hope she and Xander are doing well.

voodoo I am surprsingly craving-free this time. In fact, I can't seem to find any food that I want to eat. Everything seems unappealing. I'd love a craving though. What are you craving?

Caliphora · 19/09/2011 17:27

Kelly No cravings here atm either - DP has stopped asking what I want for dinner as I go "Meh, not hungry" and he has realised he gets to eat what he wants for once!

Bluetinkerbell · 19/09/2011 17:32

oooh I'm Sad now Kelly I am not allowed to tell you all the tricks I'm planning to do to actually get a baby in there Grin
oh yeah voodoo a BFP at any time would be superb, but I just have this feeling that it might be extra nice if could get it before 3rd November, as a this should have been the end of my pregnancy with a little girl in my arms, which I won't have, but I will have one in 8 months time feeling. (Well not necessarily a girl, but a baby anyway)

NotJustKangaskhan · 19/09/2011 17:48

Thanks for the bike links Tjuice.

Birth Control I've used breastfeeding as contraception successfully (that and baby blocking such activities Grin) until my periods come back and then I use a silicone cervical cap until we're open to conceive again. The cap works very well for us (as in I find it comfortable to use and when we use it I don't get pregnant) and I highly recommend it. Unless you're body is extremely predictable like mine and/or you're open to having another I would use a back-up like a cap as well. I have absolutely no idea if we will be trying for more (though my husband has already gotten the 'cutting his power cords' speech from a family member Angry).

My family is all under the weather except for me at this point. My DD2 is the worst off, her severe eczema became infected and the infection spread so she's on a cocktail to clear the infection and be more aggressive to the eczema. She's been a poor little thing for days, though today has been much better - had a couple of hours of her back to her normal self. Everyone else seems to have a throat infection. I'm hiding from the all Wink as I feel rough enough as it is - feeling like a huge washing machine at this point. So much I want to get done, but doctoring and naps seems the order of the day. I have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow - keeping all fingers crossed that baby is head down (I know it doesn't need to be yet, but I don't need the stress of the speech I got with DD1).

voodoomunkee · 19/09/2011 19:01

Ok I feel like I should do this in true AA style. My name is Voodoo and I crave..... Washing powder........

KellyKettle · 19/09/2011 20:53

blue a friend of mine actually did keep me up to date on her ttc efforts. She'd call me afterwards and say "I think we just made a baby! Did it in this position for (sorry) deeper penetration and lay with legs in air so his little swimmers didn't fall out". Gak! I got wise to it quite quickly and stopped answering the phone. The detail was too much.

Voodoo seriously? You just sniff it or do you eat it? Or have the liquid spread on toast like jam? Smile

kanga I'm trying to work out which way round my baby is. Kicks to the right but all of my stomach feels firm. It's making me think transverse. MW says it's head down but...

Good luck tomorrow! Was your DD breech?

KellyKettle · 19/09/2011 20:55

Oh Cali my dh asked me last night what I wanted. I told him I didn't really care. He said "ok, well just choose", I said "I don't know, what do you feel like". He couldn't decide either. Drove each other insane!! Smile

Caliphora · 19/09/2011 20:57

Kelly He just posted on my FB wall asking what I'd planned for dinner... Plan? Dinner? I've slept most of the day!

Bluetinkerbell · 19/09/2011 20:59

Kelly hehe ok that is indeed too much information! Wink

All is well with Caz she just posted on FB! If all stays like it is, she will be induced in 3 weeks time!

KellyKettle · 19/09/2011 21:13

I censored for you Blue Grin

That's fab news about Caz. Wow - 3 weeks!

I wonder who will be next to have their baby. It's all getting a bit close now! 2 more weeks and I'm officially full term!

Cali I roasted chicken this evening. I asked DH what he wanted with it and he said "oh I'll just have chicken" and he did! The rest is in the oven and he insists he'll eat it with "something" when he gets back from football...hmmm

SnoozleDoozle · 19/09/2011 21:36

I haven't been on here since Sat, just couldn't be bothered doing anything at all, and there has been so much chat in the past couple of days!

Who asked about contraception? If this it your first, you can look forward to that moment about 24 hours after you have given birth, when you're not quite sure if the surreal experience you have just been through was actually you giving birth, or if in fact, you have been run over by bus or something, and thats why it feels like all your insides are in the wrong place. Anyway, at that point, some chipper young midwife will pop her head around the curtain and say 'so, have you thought about contraception for when you go home?' and you will gasp in disbelief, because the thought of ever having sex again seems about as likely as flying to the moon. Wink. In reality, I went for the mirena coil, and it worked a treat for me - very very light periods, and no hassle and no side effects. Think I might go back to that again, and the long term nature of it doesn't bother me, as we feel that two children is enough for us.

I have another scan tomorrow, and have to discuss possibility of elective cs, which is a bit daunting. But one way or the other, I just don't think this baby is going to stay put until November. About four people in the past week have told me that my bump has visibly dropped lower, and I feel strange sensations in my pelvis, and contractions, that I never had with DD. I'm all fed up with being pregnant too, but I know that he or she needs to stay put for a little longer yet, for the best outcome......

juststarting · 19/09/2011 22:12

Dear lord we talk a lot. Contraception - we didnt use any for AGES after my son was born. We just didnt have sex. In like forever. I am suprised to be here again, that we actually managed to get back to it. It was looking pretty unlikely for a while. But then I had a few problems post birth which delayed things further I think. But seriously, we just stuck with condoms. Totally wouldnt trust the breast feeding thing. I didnt get a period till, er, oh, i cant recall. A lot of months. Like ten or something. But yes, I think we'll stop at the two. i think we both kind of fancied three, but my state of physical and mental health and the practicalitites of it make two seem like a sensible choice to be honest.
Blue, fantastic, you may not conceive as quickly as you want, you may, but either way, you can know that you are working on your family again. Good for you.
So, am I foolish to be reassured that all this baby facing the wrong way stuff may yet undo itself and all will be appropriately head down?

kate393 · 19/09/2011 22:17

Hello all! Just back from first nct class...enjoyed it and met some nice people.
just sorry you're having a rubbish time of it....what an awful phobia.
Cali glad you got a scan app. And hearing hb must have been a reassurance.
caz hope you're doing ok. Thinking of you.
mash being a Leeds girl I can recommend h&m....there are 2 in town though and I think only one has kids dept (not the one on briggate), also next for 3pk sleepsuits...they have turnover scratch mitts and loads of choice at the one in town.
chip and poppet....hope the girls are still going from strength to strength and you're not finding the to'ing and fro'ing to hospital too tiring.
Had lovely weekend in London for my bday....dh booked a fab pregnancy massage at hotel which was heavenly. Bought some lovely (girly!) bits to replace the boys stuff which I now need to take back this week! Thank god I got a lot of white/grey/bright colour and there's not much to return. Got hospital bags done now, just need to finish the baby one....does anyone have any advice on what or more how much to take clothing wise for baby???

kate393 · 19/09/2011 22:29

Oh bloody hell.....thought I'd caught up and just realized I'd not read last page!!!
waves to blue and crosses fingers for bfp. Great to hear from you.
Good news from caz too....3 weeks....sudden realisation there's going to be lots more babies very soon to join sylvie-rose and willow in the nov babies gang!
voodoo are you serious....do you actually want to eat washing powder?!! Shock

Poppet45 · 19/09/2011 22:30

Hiya all!

Thought I'd let you know I've put some new piccies of Willow up!

www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150358775852704.405824.547092703&l=c80d91995f&type=1 Proud mummy alert. She's now an impressive 3lb 4oz - up a whole pound since she arrived four weeks and a day ago. She's also been off the cpap (breathing thingie) since 6am yesterday and is doing really well with a bit of o2. Plus they've upped my ratio of breast milk to formula from 1/4 to half of her feeds as she's gaining weight well. Am so in love with her... she's such an inspiration. Wibble.
Sorry for the totally self absorbed post. :)

Bluetinkerbell · 19/09/2011 22:34

Oh my goodness Poppet she is absolutely adorable! You have every right to be a proud mummy!
