I only did it a test this morning and have not even told my husband yet!

Hello all

Well I am still knackered and horribly nauseous but then I am only eight weeks so got a while to go before the end of this trimester. Last time I'm pretty sure I felt rubbish for about 4 months so not feeling very positive! I'm so glad I work part-time from home, I don't how I'd cope otherwise.

I'm looking into pregnancy yoga classes, always enjoy them. Of course I live in the sticks and there is nowt near by however I have found one in the town which is two hours so worth the drive! (Can't start now I know but need to book, this one has a waiting list).

Cupcake - 17 days overdue! Poor you. I know what you mean about the worrying, it's awful.

Welcome ladymaybe, glad to hear this pregnancy is progressing well, I really feel for you having gone through so much to get to this stage. Good luck for your dating scan, not long now!

Quenelle - Birthing chair? I have no idea what that may be, no chairs anywhere near me when I gave birth. (Kneeling on the floor).

Missing - Lucky you so near the end of the first trimester! Your life sounds a bit like mine last time round, no idea how I managed.

LittleSarah · 12/10/2011 12:59

tostaky - I am not into astrology but my son is a Gemini and he is lovely; sweet, easy going and a very happy wee thing. I wouldn't worry!

On the issue of movements I don't think any of our group would be feeling anything yet. If you have been pregnant before you can sometimes start feeling tiny movements around 16 weeks but I think that is usually the earliest. With my first I didn't feel anything definite til 22 weeks! (Most early movements feel like things you can get when not pregnant, ahem, wind, and so on).

myweeangel · 12/10/2011 20:01

Good news from me, ladies. :)

Had my booking in appointment last night. By the way Quenelle it can take an hour and a half because they need to go through your full medical history (and families') and they also take blood, check your height and weight and blood pressure. In my case it was three different midwives who saw me for everything.

Most excitingly though - I GOT AN UNEXPECTED SCAN! :o

Wasn't supposed to until 14 weeks when I see the consultant and didn't even think I was going to hear a heartbeat for another fortnight - which seemed like such a long time away - and then the midwife said that as it was quiet she'd take me round for a scan.

I already have a daughter and this time I was just as filled with awe and amazement at my little baby's heart flickering away and little arms and feet waving around.

Desperate to tell everyone now but will be patient for another fortnight or so.

Only thought I was giving bloods so DH wasn't with me though. Bit gutted, but there'll be more and he was ok about it especially when he saw the photos.

Good luck to you all with your scans!

Wrigglebum · 12/10/2011 22:29

Oooh myweeangel, I'm very jealous of your scan! So glad it went well. I've only got eight days until mine and I think I'll relax a bit and start telling people after that as long as all is good. Last time I was really worried there wouldn't be a baby there but this time I'm worried they won't find a heartbeat. I really should stop worrying as stats are on my side. I get a nuchal fold test on the NHS this time as they just started doing them for women over 30. It will be a long appointment. Need to get there early as parking is a bloody nightmare at the hospital.

Harecare · 12/10/2011 22:39

Myweeangel - that's really lucky to just sneak in for a scan!
Wrigglebum - Is your scan next Thurs too?

I'm 11 weeks this week and I suddenly feel really fat! My lower back is starting to really hurt too. I've had SPD in the past and am being careful this time round as I can't afford to not be able to walk.
The thing I have to watch out for is that when I feel fat instead of jumping onto salads it makes me feel like eating cake and chocolate!!!! At the moment I'm indulging my greediness as I feel like giving myself special treatment, but I need to get into a different mindset.
Herbal teas, green veg, fruit, exercise, my body is a temple, ommmmmmmmm!

myweeangel · 13/10/2011 07:31

Good luck wrigglebum and harecare for next week. Try not to worry about it. I know - easier said than done.

wrigglebum - good that they offer nuchal fold test, that should ease your mind too. Re parking I think pregnant women should be allowed the family parking spaces! Not that there's ever many of those...

harecare - ommmmmmm indeed. I've been indulging myself too, not all bad stuff, just not enough good stuff. I've been living on toast and cheese and orange lucozade! Shall go down the fruit and veg aisles in Tescos a little more slowly and purposefully this weekend.

Yorky · 13/10/2011 08:03

Morning all, getting frustrated with this stage now, nothin gto see, not telling people, had booking in appt, less than a fortnight till scan but feeling pretty grotty but more intermittently now thankfully - I don't mind the later bits of pregnancy, backache and heartburn cos I am easily entertained by movements! but this bit is boring

Have 3 DC at home today as had to pick DS1 up from school early yesterday with diarrhoea - they are alternating between being cute and playing nicely and trying to kill each other. Gutted as he should have had his 1st school photo done today :( but at least he's better in himself than he was yesterday - not at all like him to lay on the settee with his blankie and watch tv quietly. And DS2 has been awake since 430 so he's tired and whingy too.

Nice to hear people are getting scans, I'm not having the nuchal scan, or the triple test - can't see the point in the extra worry for months if I did get an increased risk, but know I couldn't go for an amnio with its risk of m/c so DH and I just decided we'd deal with what happened when/if it happened, and I'm not quite old enough for the stats to be stacked against me

goodname · 13/10/2011 11:39

I also have my scan next week on Wednesday so less than 1 week to go now. Still feeling like there will be nothing to see but trying not to dwell on it.
I am feeling so tired this week as my mum who looks after ds1 for me while I work is on holiday so have had to run around dropping him off here and there for a couple of hours while I try and slot some work in. I find looking after him alone all day much more tiring than work (although I do just work mornings). I was so reluctant to go back to work after maternity leave but now I quite enjoy the break of being able to sit down for four hours! DS is also sleeping terribly just now (due to teeth I think) so feel quite worn out. Cant wait for the 12 weeks to be over as I remember feeling markedly better at that point last time around.
Was looking after my nieces along with DS yesterday and am now worried about having more than one. My youngest niece has just turned 4 and DS is 16 months so there is almost 3 years between them and they just do not get on. DS is mostly fine with her but she just cant stand him, constantly taking everything from him and saying he is a baby so cant play with anything of her in case he breaks it. Then saying when am I going to take him away. Its quite stressful and I just hope my two will get on a bit better, will be a smaller age gap so hoping that helps!
I also do not want a nuchal scan as would not do anything about it anyway. I am 32 so hoping my risk is not too high. Dont really want to look into it though.
Hope everyone else is doing well and hello to Ladymaybe

LittleSarah · 13/10/2011 12:24

Yorky - I know what you mean about getting bored with this stage! And I still have a month to go. Boo. Think the nausea has eased slightly but not much. Movements are the best, lets get there please!

I have never had a nuchal scan in previous pregnancies but I've never been higher risk, and not now either, so I won't be having one this time but good luck to those who are!

Myweeangel - Great news about you getting a sneaky scan! How fab is that? My scan was only a week ago and it feels like ages. I don't know when my 12 week one will be as it isn't booked yet, hopefully it will be organised next week at my booking appt.

Right, off to town to see very ill mother (which hopefully means she will be blind to my own sickness)!

dobbybono · 13/10/2011 12:31

hello, due 26th may, scared stiff aswell as excited!,keep waking up at 3am in wild panic.

Wrigglebum · 13/10/2011 15:23

Yes, my scan is next Thurs, the 20th. I think there are quite a few of us having scans that day, so hopefully lots of happy news after that. LittleSarah I didn't have the blood test done for Downs last time and I wasn't too sure whether to have it this time. I'm also low risk and unless the tests show a higher than 1:50 chance of Downs there's no way I'd have the amnio as the risk of miscarriage is 2%. I guess it'll just mean I'm prepared if there is bad news.

I had a really strange dream where I had my scan and it was twins, made me wonder if any of us are carrying twins!

Totally agree with hating first trimester, you feel terrible but just have to carry on as you can't tell too many people. It's great to be on here as otherwise it's kind of lonely as you can't be open with people and just have to put a brave face on. And there's only so much you can winge to those you have told! At least we're all in the same boat here and can be miserable together Grin.

Catsycat · 13/10/2011 16:46

Hi everyone. Sorry I've not been around for a couple of weeks, MN (and Dr Google) turned into a tool for me to obsess over and it was getting really stressful, so I had to step away for a while!!! Have just had my (early) scan, and it was good news. The size matches up perfectly with my dates, and we saw a heartbeat. I actually cried with relief (which is so not me!). Hopefully I can stop obsessing so much now. Till the next scan. Actually just found out they do a nuchal scan at the hospital at 12 weeks now. DH was quite impressed when he realised this would save him some money!!!!

dreamingofanallotment · 13/10/2011 18:09

Hope you're managing to relax a bit Catsycat. Google can make you so worried - I keep googling stuff that's worrying me and then having to take it with a (big!) pinch of salt! That's fantastic news about your scan though :)

You lucky thing myweeangel getting a surprise scan! What a lovely midwife you must have!

I've just had my letter about my 12 week scan - not until 31st oct - over 2 weeks away, argh! SO excited though! Husband is v excited too (but keeps asking, should I be excited or do I need to be a bit nervous too?!)

Wrigglebum you're right, it does get lonely not being able to talk about it openly. I'm finding it so hard not to spill the beans at work because the staffroom is full of baby talk as one of the other teachers is pregnant too. I did tell my T.A this week which has been good timing - my nausea has been even worse this week and I've had to dash away from the classroom a few times for fresh air and water!

Hi dobbybono!

Dorris83 · 13/10/2011 20:06

I think I've been missed off when the list was copied. I've added myself back on.

I'm 10 weeks and am a little disappointed as my scan isn't until November first, which will be 13 weeks.I was hoping to have it sooner...

Still feeling lousy but I think I'm getting used to feeling crap! I'm with the other ladies who have said they're sick of this stage, I can't wait to tell people. I've not been on time for work for weeks (fortunately my boss is fine and very relaxed about timing)but my colleagues sometimes make jibes. Problem is, I spend a lot of the morning breathing slowly and trying to keep my porridge down. I drive an hour to work and don't want to get caught out when I'm in my car!! So I'm late, everyday.

Can I ask about how everyone's stomachs feel? Mine feels tight, and I swear I'm starting to show, but how can this be? This is my first and I'm sure I shouldn't be showing for weeks yet?!

I'm 10+2 and haven't got a scan date yet :/ i chased it up with the hospital because i need to let work know in advance and the said they'll "let me know when they get around to doing it" which is a bit frustrating. I have an ecg booked in for the 1st of nov so i might ask for a sneaky peak at the baby then!

Harecare · 13/10/2011 21:16

Doris - My tummy felt normal until this week (11 weeks) when it suddenly feels an inch or 2 bigger. I can still get my jeans on and off without undoing them, but I keep trying to hold my tummy in.

I've guessed it's your first due to the panic, but maybe you're panicked as it's number 6???!!!

Myweeangel - toast, cheese and lucozade? Dearie me, get to the fruit and veg shop quick smart!!! I think I'll allow myself another week to be lethargic and then whether I get energy at 12 weeks after my scan or not I am going to force myself to start swimming and cut out all biscuits, cake and crisps - I love crisps!

When do you have to start wearing maternity bras? I can't remember.

LittleSarah · 14/10/2011 10:09

Hi all

Feeling randomly better and not happy. Typical I know but I think with mmc the symptoms started to wane and then three weeks later I had a bit of bleeding so went for scan and embryo had stopped growing three weeks before. So paranoid. Happened at 9 weeks before and am now 8.5.

Oh well, have booking appt on Tuesday, if I still feel like this will beg for reassurance scan (got one around this time last time round due to mmc).

Boo, hope I am overreacting!

dobbybono · 14/10/2011 12:28

hi,due end of may, seem to have gone up 2 dress sizes in the last week, boobs feel like they're on fire.sat at work with trousers stapled together as too tight! ouch!

dobbybono · 14/10/2011 12:29

Harecare, please do and congrats to all fellow may ladies x

farfallarocks · 14/10/2011 13:47

catsy was looking for you as having lots of progesterone chats in conception! Just wanted to say congrats on the scan news and I am so pleased this time has worked out.

Did you use Progesterone in the end?

All May thread, apologies for hijack!!

Catsycat · 14/10/2011 15:41

Hi farfalla, nice to see you here! I couldn't get progesterone treatment from the GP, but have been applying a progesterone cream twice a day after researching on the internet. I have to work out when to reduce or stop the cream eventually. How is everything going with you?

dreamingofanallotment · 14/10/2011 18:53

:( thought I'd be brave tonight and attempt to eat some Chinese takeaway....Urghhhhhhhhhhh, feel so rough now! Won't be doing that again in a hurry. I miss proper food! DH did just cheer me up by telling me I'm 1/4 of the way through my pregnancy tomorrow - where did that time go?!
I will now spend the next hour peering at the telly through half asleep eyes! Zzzzzzz...

Dorris83 · 14/10/2011 20:15

dreaming il tell you where that time's gone... Feeling I'll, distracted, and not able to tell anyone!
That has cheered me up too though :-)

dobbybono · 15/10/2011 08:38

sat at work feeling really sick, had random sleep last night with odd dreams. managed a weetabix ugh.got big baggy dress on today as can't cope with too tight trousers like yesterday.
have docs on 21st oct, think i will be about 9 weeks ish then. when do you have first scan? do you normally get 2?

dreamingofanallotment · 15/10/2011 09:03

Urhh, I'm with you on the too tight trousers thing - I've been wearing a safety pin or hair band to do mine up! But did buy some maternity ones last week with a narrow stretchy band round and they're bliss!
As far as I know, first nhs scan is at 12 weeks ish - the dating scan. Then you have another at 20 weeks to check baby is growing properly - the anomaly scan I think.
