Quenelle I was pleased to see someone else's nausea was lessening, I'm still not great in evenings but mornings are better. Of course it causes a small freak out, that along with the fact that I think my boobs are pretty much back to normal now - they were, ahem, generous to start with and I BF DS so I don't know how much development they need to do second time around. My bras do feel tight in the band in the evenings and I seem to be about size larger in the evenings that I am in the mornings - always have to undo trousers at about 6pm, whereas they zip up quite happily in the mornings.
LittleSarah how are you feeling now? Booking appt today, isn't it? It's tricky because the HCG levels do start to decrease from 8-10 weeks - I've got a graph which mine were being logged against and it shows it really clearly.
Harecare and wrigglebum I've got my scan on Thursday too - been counting down the days and trying to stay optimistic but I have to say I'm absolutely terrified I will have come all this way only to hear the dreaded 'I'm sorry'.
Oh well, got to just get it done. It's a nuchal test for me too, I had the combined bloods done last week. DH and I talked about it, and we don't think we'd do go much further than preparing ourselves if it comes back high risk, but it's impossible to know for sure until the result is in. If it was Down Syndrome I wouldn't be worried but if it was another trisomy that was incompatible with life, I'm not sure what I'd do.
Goodname I'm sure with the smaller age gap it'll be different. Also, I think it must be different when it's actually a sibling, rather than a cousin or just playdate. I'm not too worried about DS, he'll be just 4 when this one is born and has never said a word to me about wanting a sibling, but he's a very perceptive and generous, affectionate boy (ooooh I love him!), and although I'm sure there will be a few issues along the way I don't think it'll be all negative, all the time.
Dorris don't worry about your colleagues' comments - as soon you decide to tell them they'll all just go 'ohhhhhhhhh' and feel a bit crap for thinking bad thoughts
. I think at 10-11 weeks it's normal for your waist to be thickening a bit and the muscles to feel a bit tight - you'd notice but probably other people wouldn't. And then there's bloat and water retention (hoorah!) which makes it all a bit swelly early on too.
Mythical Sorry about the longer wait for the scan. Were you wanting a nuchal translucency test? Might pay to try to get one slightly earlier if so, if they discover that you're actually past 13+6 when they date you they wouldn't be able to rely on the measurement. I don't think you have to wear maternity bras...underwired are fine just so long as they fit really well and you get re-fitted often. But if they're uncomfortable go get some now! Comfort all the way...
Catsy I'm on progesterone supplements but am starting to wind them down now. From what I've read the placenta starts taking over production at about 8 weeks, should be in control by 10 weeks and definitely ok by 12. But some people stay on progesterone until 14-16 weeks so I guess there's no harm in continuing with the cream until then if it makes you feel safer.
sunshine100 congratulations on the early scan, I hope that makes it all seem a bit more real - apart from the giant boobs and nausea that is,
- isn't it funny how we seem to be able to dismiss what are definitely pregnancy symptoms from telling us we're pregnant - I do it myself - selective symptom spotting huh! Scan will most likely be a separate appointment, although it sounds like some do get it on the booking in. Worth asking for sure.
welcome Dobby your boss was most likely joking, but it's going to be fun telling him that you're going to have to be inconvenient and selfish too - would quite like to see his face when you use his words back to him
Tostaky

- omg, he must have been mortified!
SES, I completely understand the fear of scans, it's awful when you've just had bad news from them. 8 weeks is a good milestone to get to though, you can do it. We'll hold your hand.
Well, that was a catch up and a half! Before any of you wonder about my amazing powers to stay awake, I'm not actually in the UK, so am operating from a different timezone! Should probably now make a start on my work for the day. Sooo unmotivated, but if I want to put an invoice out, I'd better do some hours
Good luck to all those scanning this week and for those still suffering the peak of nausea/tiredness/discomfort/sleeplessness fingers-crossed it all starts to ease off soon. Nearly there ladies
