skinnymuffin - so very sorry to hear your sad news. You are sounding very brave about it but remember to have a few wee cries too. Hope it happens again soon for you.

dreamingofanallotment - I'm a teacher too, and yes, I too blame the kids for my cold. They can keep answers and good manners to themselves but not germs... :)

Dream update - still waiting for the one where Denzel Washington takes me out.

LittleSarah · 06/10/2011 08:33

Hello all, another newcomer here. I have been lurking a bit but too paranoid to post due to previous missed miscarriage. However had a scan on Tuesday and everything okay at the moment, 7+1, saw heart beat and yolk sac. Hospital had no idea who I was though, some trainee mix-up!

Now I have my booking appt on the 18th.

I have two other children, dd 7 and ds 2.5 and I'm pretty sure this will be the last. Sad

I have found a list and added myself and SESthebrave, hope it is the right one!

Welcome LittleSarah - congratulations.

I seem to have ballooned over night - am sure it is just air but look like I have a massive bump that wasn't there yesterday. Am struggling with some artful pashmina drapage in the office today.

Is anyone else finding this?

OP posts:
PopEsMummy · 06/10/2011 09:36

So sorry to hear your news skinny Sad.

I feel a bit insensitive posting this now. We just got back from the EPU, healthy 8 week baby with heartbeat and yolk sac. We're both so pleased, DH was over the moon at getting to see the scan, he says it's much nicer than getting a pic in an email! Now just waiting for my consultant appointment on the 31st. She's moved me forward a bit (to the 15th) but I'll leave myself where I am on the list until after the 12 week scan.

Elizabethtailored I woke up this morning with what looked suspiciously like a bump, think it's wind Blush. I couldn't do up my uniform trousers yesterday at work, luckily my tunic covers the top of my trousers up!

FloydieDoydie · 06/10/2011 10:22

So sorry for your losses Skinny and Cacacaz Sad

Had my booking appointment yesterday, so it's finally starting to feel real - I'd even done yet another test the other day just to reassure myself I wasn't actually a crazy person Blush

So much bumf to read too. We're booked onto the anti-natal class too; it's a whole day where ghetto through everything at once, including the unit tour. I don't like that it's a month before I'm due - I feel that's a bit late to be learning about pain relief options and massage etc. Oh well Smile

I'm so over emotional at the moment - burst into tears this morning seeing the apple/steve jobs face logo that someone posted on twitter.

Also, if DP mentions how his ex did this or that in her pregnancy, I think I might just cut his balls off. I don't CARE what she did Angry. I might get his mum to drop a hit for me.

Must be the hormones....!

FloydieDoydie · 06/10/2011 10:24

we get to. Not Ghetto. And drop a hint. Not a hit. Although, I'd like to take out a hit sometimes Grin

How fitting that my iPhone making me look a wally!

lastoneipromise · 06/10/2011 10:44

Hello! May I join? I have lurked for ages, and ages before that on the TTC boards. I think I am just about brave enough to de-lurk. I already have 3 beautiful children, and this is deffo our last. I am 7+3, and had some spotting but an early scan has confirmed a heartbeat. I have been throwing up sooooo much, so I am off work and am becoming re-aquatinted with holly and Phil! Teaching a class of 7 year olds and being sick in the bin in the corner of the room don't mix!

LittleSarah · 06/10/2011 12:38

Thanks elizabethtailored, I don't seem to have grown yet, but I look completely washed out, what a mess. My mum is coming tonight and am just hoping she doesn't pick up on anything - she is annoyingly perceptive. Less than a month a go she told me (while rather tipsy) not to get pregnant as I have enough on my plate. Oops! She will be happy enough when she gets used to the idea but not looking forward to the 'are you sure this was a good idea sarah, what about work, etc' conversation.

Hello lastone, poor you with all the throwing up, I just tend to feel nauseous 24/7, unpleasant in its own way! Congrats on the pregnancy though!

PopEsMummy, glad to hear your scan went well, it is nice when dh can actually see everything. Mine couldn't come to this one and he has taken a picture of scan pic to save onto his phone as background. This despite my telling him it is of the yolk sac as due to womb position couldn't get good pic of baby/blob!

Floydie - I assume this is your first? Have you any books yet? A month does seem very close, I remember with my first my midwife forgot to book me in for the classes I should do (five week block) and so I had to do them about 6 weeks before birth, basically the final one (on breast feeding) was the day before I was due, and I was early! I read a lot though, and also went to an NCT workshop so that helped. I love what to expect, and the best friend's guide great too.

I feel run down and think I may nap when ds does, so lazy but at least have done some work this morning!

Quenelle · 06/10/2011 13:44

Hi everyone. Welcome LittleSarah and lastoneIpromise.

Floydie I think a month before for antenatal classes is ok. I had read up loads on pain relief and breastfeeding beforehand so I didn't actually learn anything new. Plus you can discuss things like pain relief at your own MW appointments if you want to. I remember thinking my course wasn't close enough to my due date. I was one of the least pregnant there.

I've made enquiries at the Verulam Clinic in St Albans about the nuchal fold scan. Anyone have any experience of it, or the obstetrician, Stephen Burrell? Hopefully I will be able to have it a couple of days before my dating scan, and they give you the results over the phone within a day or so. I'm glad because we'll be able to tell friends and family straight after, instead of having to wait another week. I guess many of you are much younger so are not so high risk and don't have to think about nuchal tests?

Marmite123 · 06/10/2011 14:35

Had my scan and everything looks fine. The spotting is still on and off but barely anything, the sonographer thought nothing to worry about as measurements and heart beat perfect.

Phew!

SESthebrave · 06/10/2011 15:08

Marmite123 & PopEsMummy- congrats! You must both feel very relieved. I think you should do something to celebrate - chocolate cake?!

Quenelle - I've not heard of that clinic. I'm also an old(er!) mum at 38. I had DS at 36yo and my age did increase my risk but not so that I was overly worried. I guess this time round my age will make those stats even worse Hmm

Floydie - have you considered NCT classes? They are a bit pricey but even my DH freely admitted afterwards that he thought them well worth the money (even if that was because he got a new group of drinking buddies as a result!)

littleone - hope you're sickness improves soon!

ElizabethT - I'm only 6+4 but clothes are tighter already!

LittleSarah - welcome! Good luck with your mum. Why is it that they can be so insensitive sometimes? My best friend and I have a deal that if we start heading that way we will tell eachother!

All ok here today. I have a few days off work and got my very neglected hair done this morning. I feel like a new woman!

tostaky · 06/10/2011 15:49

Zzzzzzzxzzz zzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzz I'm falling asleep at my desk and my boss keeps talking to me!!! Help!!!!

Mikocat · 06/10/2011 16:48

Hello all! Hope you are all winning the battle against tiredness today.

I went for a private 'reassurance' scan this morning before work at Leeds Screening Centre. I am so glad I did! It was so lovely seeing the baby for the first time and hearing the heartbeat - DH and I were quite teary-eyed when we came out.

Turns out that I am 9+5 not 8+5 as I was originally dated, so have added myself to the list below with my new date! One week less to wait - wahey!

Thanks for the comments ladies Smile

Yes littlesarah it's my first Smile I'm a pathological researcher (can't watch a film without going "now what was he in?" and looking it up!), so already have The Rough Guide To Pregnancy and Birth, Christine Hill's Pregnancy Guide (which I read but took a dislike to), and of course The Mumsnet Guide Grin. Plus, babycentre app! So, maybe I will be okay after all...

SES no NCT over here on the Isle of Man unfortunately. I googled and found a private course, but think DP will say it's pointless spending money when we can have the free course at the hospital.

Thanks for the reassurance quenelle, maybe it will be fresher in my mind being a month before Smile

Little9 · 06/10/2011 18:37

Had a very vivid dream last night. V weird! Been cold all day, although currently being snuggled by 2 dogs and 2 cats. Mmmmmm, nice and toasty! Soooooo tired today. Ran across the road today and boobs were bouncing so much they hurt. Think I need to go bra shopping, lol! :o

Yorky · 06/10/2011 20:22

Hi everyone who is still here and brave new people - welcome.
Sorry to hear we've lost some more :( best wishes for next time

Still ridiculously tired but (fingers crossed) starting to feel less vile all the time.
ANd we had our new boiler fitted today so hopefully won't have any more workmen around for a while - just need DH to finish flooring the loft so we can move rubbish boxes up there out of the way

Had first booking in appt a couple of weeks ago, blood taken etc, she is due to come to the house tomorrow for previous history part of note filin gin, and I can't find them!! I know I'm useless with paperwork but this is impressive even by my standards Blush

myweeangel · 06/10/2011 23:13

tostaky - had a giggle at your power nap on the loo! Know that feeling so well. When my class leaves in the afternoon I could so easily get very comfortable with my head down on my desk.
It does beg the question why can I NOT get comfortable at 4am in my lovely, comfy, warm, toasty bed???

HeidiHole · 06/10/2011 23:18

I've been missing from this thread for ages but i've still been reading. So sorry to all the people who;ve lost their pregnancies :(

Feeling like shit all the time. I cannot remember the last day that I wasn't vomiting and not just in the morning. In the middle of the night, after dinner, in the morning, in the shower and whever i brush my teeth I hurl... i'm not even deep throating the toothbrush just something about the taste of the toothpaste I don't know?!

Urgh.. please let it improve soon I can't wait till 12 weeks!

PopEsMummy · 07/10/2011 08:14

HeidiHole sorry, but lol @ 'deep throating the toothbrush' Grin. I hope you start feeling better soon xx

We've got DH's Christmas do tonight. I have a lovely dress to wear but, it would look better (and I wouldn't be spending the night trying to suck my tummy in) if I wore my Spanx. Now I'm trying to weight up the risk of a sore tummy from sucking my belly in, versus a sore tummy from wearing spanx Hmm

Wrigglebum · 07/10/2011 08:23

Heidi- I'm really struggling with toothbrushing at the moment too, getting my back teeth really makes me gag and the toothpaste tastes really bad at the moment too. I've gone right off peppermint tea as well which I normally love.

I have been feeling constantly hungover but a lot better than my last pregnancy. I'm eating little and often to try and keep my blood sugar level but eating a fair amount of junk- yesterday had KFC for lunch and Chinese for dinner Blush.

SESthebrave · 07/10/2011 09:18

OMG - it's official! I must be pg! I was sitting in Starbucks, reading a silly chick-lit book and it was making me well up with tears! A book! In public! Don't think I've ever done that before. Admittedly it was a sad bit but I suddenly had the urge to sob my heart out Blush

As for dreams, after seeing The Debt at the cinema last night, I dreamt last night I had to watch DS being driven off in a cart to a concentration camp! I'm a wreck aren't I? (Nevermind the fact we're not Jewish!) I'm a lost cause already and I'm not quite 7wks yet!

Hope everyone's doing ok this morning and has got enough symptoms to be reassuring but no more. I've dropped DS at nursery so off home to face the ironing pile - a wonderful way to spend the last day of my week off!

Quenelle · 07/10/2011 13:47

Hi all.

Nice to see you HeidiHole, sorry you've been feeling so bad. Have you seen your GP to check you don't have hyperemisis? I have the toothbrush thing too, my gag reflex is so much more sensitive. I have to breathe out hard through my mouth so I don't retch. The minty toothpaste itself does ease the nausea though so I'm brushing my teeth quite a lot at the moment.

Have just bought another pair of leggings because the jeans I'm wearing at work today are cutting me in half. I'm sure the pressure on my tummy adds to the nausea as well.

chipo · 07/10/2011 14:16

Hi All, Have been hovering a reading all the good and bad news.

I am 8+3 with no 2 after ttc for 5 years and 2 mc, so excited but a little scared too. I have been feeling awful, nausea, vomiting, tired beyond belief. Thank god dh has had 2 weeks off work so he has been able to take dd to school.

I am having the whole teeth brushing thing too, but not surprised as it happened when I was pregnant with dd. I have my booking in on 17th Oct and 1st scan 7th Nov, can't wait. I'm so excited to tell dd as she has been asking for a sibling for years, so fingers crossed.

Am thinking of having this one in a midwife led birthing centre, anyone had experience with this?
