I only did it a test this morning and have not even told my husband yet!

Hows things now northey??

musicalmrs · 24/09/2011 16:51

Northey, how're things going? My bleeding last Sat was bright red, on my underwear as well as the several successive wipes thing. Definitely get it checked out if it gets worse - and I'm glad your scan is coming up soon.

CODwidow - I'm getting a combination of period-like, constipation, upset stomach and trapped wind pains. Fun! Actually finding that peppermint tea (well, peppermint and nettle actually!) is helping with a lot of it.

The period-like pains worried me at the first, but as I know I've had them with bleeding, I'm now trying not to worry. Was told not to worry about them unless they became crippling...

Very few symptoms today, which has been nice! Less bloating (which is usually extreme!), and the wind/constipation is better - thanks to the copious amounts of peppermint tea I've drunk over the last couple of days! I think making sure I eat enough is also helping - as I felt a lot worse when I wasn't forcing myself to eat little and often. I've been ensuring I have some fruit/a bag of dried fruit on me at all times to nibble..!

Northey · 24/09/2011 17:19

Ow, CODwidow, It is so hard not to stress, I know just how you feel! I've been having the same combination of pains as musicalmrs, actually.

Ok, this is going to be a revoltingly detailed sort of question. Does anyone know what actually counts as a clot of the sort you have to worry about? The kind of big jellied deep red thing that sometimes practically falls out of you during a very heavy period? What about the smaller jellyish deep red lumps (maybe 5mm cubed) that appear on loo paper sort of sitting on top, and not actually being absorbed into the paper? The latter is happening, and I feel a tiny bit crampy. But otherwise fine, and very grateful for the concern :)

Wrigglebum · 24/09/2011 17:25

Glad I'm not the only windy one here, really bloated and constant trumping Blush. Peppermint tea is turning my stomach right now so no help there but i do have a pack of deflatine for any trapped wind emergencies. Also knackered but can't sleep properly, seem to be constantly yawning. Plus I have had a lovely dose of pregnancy thrush, but thankfully it's not too bad.

I just feel exactly like I have a hangover- thirsty, tired, headache and craving junk and fruit. I'm eating more than this stage in my last pregnancy and I def feel better for it. Biscuits before I get out of bed then eating little and often. Sipping Dr Pepper helps too, it's the only caffeine I have.

HarriedWithChildren · 24/09/2011 17:43

It is exactly like having a perpetual hangover without even deserving it.
Northey, it's hard to tell as all sorts can happen and it will seem like an eternity until Tues. Take paracetamol for cramp.

skinnymuffin · 24/09/2011 19:24

Northey I am still spotting (with knicker contact!!) although scan on Thurs showed no internal damage or traumatic areas (whatever they are!) and was told not to worry. Also, any clot bigger than a small plum is to be of concern apparently.

Last time I had (still unexplained) crippling pain for 2 days together and all was still well.

Discovering you are pregnant can be the most wonderful feeling in the world but the subsequent worrying sucks.

Still, really glad to have this thread for a bit of hand-holding :)

tostaky · 24/09/2011 19:37

BlueCrane · 24/09/2011 20:47

Didn't get anywhere near the ironing Blush but do feel better for an afternoon nap Smile

Sorry to hear about the spotting ladies...really hope it's all just a little 'leakage' and nothing more than that!!

Am so with the others wishing this first trimester over and on into the second trimester!!

CODwidow · 24/09/2011 20:49

I hope the bleeding is subsiding northey I'm still having slight pains but no bleeding so thankful for that. (doesn't stop me checking every twominutes)

fx for those with spotting, thinking of you as it is stressful Smile

A little less windy today but still having to eat little and often as soooo hungry all the time! I lost 3 stone after my last ds but have a feeling if I'm not careful I'll be putting it back on Grin still no sickness which I'm sooo grateful for as suffered that with all my others but funny how even that worries me Blush

goodname · 24/09/2011 20:54

Hi all, cant believe how fast this moves.
So sorry to hear redslippers news. Hope everyone else is feeling better.

Nothing much to report here. Not many symptoms but do have painful wind at night and am very tired but I was very tired before with ds who does not sleep.

I have total respect for those with 3 or more kids already to look after as had my nieces to look after today as well as ds and its so exhausting chasing them all! Off tp bed now
Hope we have lots of happy news on here now

Rhubarbgarden · 24/09/2011 22:15

Hello, can I join in? Just got my BFP yesterday, and calculated a due date of 28th May. I started reading the thread from the beginning, but then realised I might actually want to go to bed at some point this evening so please accept my apologies for jumping to the end. This will be my second, I have a 15 month old dd so I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to cope with two - I guess I'll figure that out in 8 months time!

Northey · 24/09/2011 22:19

Skinnymuffin, I'm so sorry to hear you're still bleeding (and musicalmrs and other spotters), but also sort of glad that other people are going through the same thing. The hand-holding definitely helps! Thanks for the plum sizing advice (does that sound as rude as it does in my head?)!

CODwidow, fingers crossed that pains subside soon and you never join us on the spotters bench. How are you feeling now?

Tostaky (welcome and congrats, btw - I don't think I said it before) and bluecrane, I SO agree about having had enough of the first trimester now. Roll on week 13!

Northey · 24/09/2011 22:23

Hi rhubarbgarden and congratulations and welcome to our lair of bloated, windy exhaustion!

CODwidow · 24/09/2011 22:28

northey pains have gone now so fx, I will say I had some bleeding in my last pg at about 8 weeks and all went well so I think it's probably quite common.

Just looking forward to that first scan but that's like 5 weeks away which seems ages! I can see why peope pay out for early private ones

MyDaydream · 24/09/2011 23:47

Sorry to hear about all the spotters, unfortunately I'm joining the spotters club but it's still fairly infrequent. Went to the loo on Friday and had blood when I wiped, actually had a total brain fart and thought "oh it's my period", took me a few seconds to twig it wasn't right! The only pain I'm having is from the wind though, keep worrying that it's something worse, then out comes the most disgustingly loud fart ever!

Doesn't help I'm in the middle of moving house so can't really be relaxing this weekend. Have lots of big strong men helping me, but still can't just be standing around. I'm a bit confused about what counts as heavy lifting, OH says if I have to make a noise it's too heavy! Hopefully will have the end of the week to relax as everything has to be unpacked by Wednesday for my booking appt, don't want the midwife thinking I live in squalor.

I bought my first maternity clothes the other day too, so sick of everything feeling tight, so bought some floaty dresses that aren't obviously maternity. My bum seems to be swelling up along side my boobs/tummy now, making more room for wind to be stored no doubt.

PopEsMummy · 25/09/2011 10:38

Hi Everyone

It's been a few days since I even looked on here, sorry to hear some bad news.

I'm also struggling to sleep, not waking up during the night, but finding it hard to get to sleep in the first place. Very uncomfortable with wind and bloating and a bit of constipation (sorry, TMI?). Seeing the midwife on wednesday, I'm going to ask her to prescribe some lactulose or something - I didn't have this problem last time but my sister did with hers and ended up with bunch-of-grapes sized hemmoroids, I definitely don't want that!

Started having a pulled-muscle type pain in my lower abdomen over the last few days, in my calm moments I'm pretty sure it's just that (or a sore tummy from the constipation), but in the middle of the night while DH is snoring happily beside me and I can't sleep I can convince myself it's an ectopic pregnancy. I'll mention it to the midwife on wednesday (although I feel a fool because it's really very very mild pain), but I'll be a nervous wreck if the pain continues until the 12 week scan and no one has reassured me.

Really struggling to eat anything, DH doesn't understand. I think he thinks I'm trying to not put on weight, not how utterly demoralising it is to be hungry and look at a lovely plateful of food and just not be able to eat it because I feel so sick Sad.

Hope everyone is doing okay. Sending goodvibes to the spotters bench (having been there myself I know how frightening it can be).

cupcakefairy · 25/09/2011 10:40

Welcome rhubarb :) there are a few of us with dc about 15mo (my ds is nearly 16mo) also wondering how we'll cope Grin so make yourself comfy & join the club.

feeling rubbish & nauseous today, have brought out the travel sickness wristbands! keep your eyes on that 2nd trimester ladies, when we get to be all glowing & shiney Grin

Byrnsie30 · 25/09/2011 11:04

Hey all,

Seems like I need to check this thread every couple of hours just to keep up!

Sympathies to all the spotters out there. My spotting was old blood and only lasted a couple of days with no pain really (I will be very wary of having sex until 12 week scan though!)

Not to be a scarmonger, but I got it into my head that peppermint can be dangerous during pregnancy. I will stress that I don't know why I started thinking this, but I did enjoy peppermint tea, then stopped drinking it back in January when I found out I was pregnant the first time. Any advice from seasoned mums? I do miss it!

My symptoms are still minimal. Sore boobs, tired and thirsty (if that is a symptom) Roll on booking appointment for a bit of reassurance! I just don't feel pregnant!

Welcome to newbies and good luck everyone! x

MyDaydream · 25/09/2011 13:21

My spotting seems to have stopped today, although I've probably spoken too soon. I'm hiding away in the bedroom from all the moving activities, bidding on ebay clothes! If I go downstairs I want to cry at all the things that are now apparently too heavy for me to carry, when I'm usually very eager to go lugging things up and down stairs. OH doesn't have a day off until Wednesday to help me sort it all, and the midwife is coming at 1 that day! He can arrange his work schedules around very important football games, but something important and not a chance.

TooOldForThisLark · 25/09/2011 18:46

and spotting here too - this usually ends badly for me. Oh well.

tostaky · 25/09/2011 18:56

byrnsie - i think mint, not peppermint, is bad for you.... lets hope it is not that bad because this baby was conceived in morocco and i clearly overdosed the mint tea whislt there!!

lots of good vibes to all the spotters xxx

Rhubarbgarden · 25/09/2011 19:01

Thanks guys. Symptoms have hit me like a tonne of bricks today. Feeling tired, light-headed and grumpy. I went to visit my Dad and told him the good news, then later on I got the light-headed slightly nauseous feeling so I nipped to the Co-op for a snack, and decided to try those Snack-a-jack things because they're low fat and I don't really want to put on as much weight as last time. I was just finishing them when I got back, my Dad saw me and said "I hope that's not sweets, you don't want to get fat!". What a pillock. Made me really angry, even though I'm well used to him saying the wrong thing.

Rhubarbgarden · 25/09/2011 19:04

Oh and forgot to say - I lived on peppermint tea when I was preggers last time, with no ill effects. But then I also ate Parma ham, smoked salmon and shellfish so perhaps I'm not one to advise!

Northey · 25/09/2011 19:24

Aw, TooOldForThisLark, lots of sympathy for you, and fingers crossed this time will be different. Have you miscarried often before? :( for you.

CODwidow · 25/09/2011 19:46

Hope anyone with spotting can try and relax and it all stops by morning and we sail on through to 12 weeks :)
