Hi Ladies,

Had my first appt with my GP tonight, all went okay, he just took my blood pressure and gave me a booklet. He reckons I'm due 16th May, so have changed my position in the list. He didn't take into account my cycle length, although the online calculators did?!? Never mind - mid May, if all goes well!

Can I join? BFP yesterday. DD 9mo and only returned to work properly from mat leave 2 weeks ago. Feeling Smile but dreading telling colleagues. Here we go again...

HeidiHole · 20/09/2011 21:20

Hi everyone. Well we had our aforementioned £25 scan on Friday.

All went very well, I was 5w+3 by my dates and we saw clearly a sac and the egg yolk thing.

She was looking for a heartbeat but didn't get one, however said that she wasn't concerned because I am so early on. So all looks good, and we're forking out (!) another £25 when i'm 8w+3 for another scan...cannot wait!

Even though coudln't see much it was great to see SOMETHING and get reassurance everything was fine. Told our parents afterwards and now I have a wee scan picture to coo over :)

mythical · 20/09/2011 21:27

i'm tempted to have an early scan too. it would be £50..

RedSlippers · 20/09/2011 21:29

Welcome and congratulations to those that have recently joined the thread!

Byrnsie I'm ok, just trying to put it out my mind. Have to say I don't 'feel' pregnant, but am trying to look on the brightside and just enjoy the pregnancy before the symptoms start, as I know others are suffering.

My advice would be to step away from the pregnancy test (or at least don't use the CBD)!! Taking another CBD is honestly the worst thing I did, and I regret it. I went back through so many previous posts and I've learnt 2 things from it: 1) Spotting and light bleeding can be a perfectly normal part of pregnancy and isn't necessarily cause for concern. 2) CBD are the work of the devil!

Hope your spotting has stopped and you get your early scan to put your mind at rest.

What makes you not convinced you're pregnant? I feel like that too. I think after the high of getting the first positive, nothing really happens and there is too much time to think and worry (and imagine the worst)! It can seem a bit of a lull after the initial excitement.

I have my 1st midwife appt next Thurs and now at least have that to focus on. Can't wait to get a scan date, although that seems ages away!

Musicalmrs really good news re the scan! Have you had the HCG results yet?

HeidiHole Aw, have lovely to have a pic :) How did your parents take the news? Are they really excited?!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

musicalmrs · 20/09/2011 22:00

Hi RedSlippers. Yes - it was 17000 ish on Saturday evening, and this morning it was 30,488! I'm very pleased - especially because it means the figure has almost doubled since after the worst of the bleeding occurred, meaning it hasn't hindered minimusic's progress :)

HeidiHole - £25 scans sound great! We had one today, also just showing a sac and yolk.. still so exciting! I think I'd book and pay for one if I wasn't getting a follow up in two weeks.

I have my first actual appointment with a doctor on Friday, and can hopefully book one with the midwife after that (despite all my trips to hospital - apparently the hospital and the community teams work mostly independently).

Also just told my best friend, which makes it seem so much more real! Waiting until we have a heartbeat to tell the parents.

Little9 · 20/09/2011 22:25

Blimey, lots of new joiners! Welcome all. Byrnsie spotting has finally stopped, hurray! Floydie everyone has colds at work. Keep holding my breath when they get too close! :) Boobs still sore and tire quickly but nothing else yet, which is good! Scan booked for 28th Oct, can't wait!

RedSlippers · 20/09/2011 22:29

So pleased for you Musicalmrs, I was keeping my fingers crossed for you from your earlier posts. Fabulous news, bet you are feeling so happy. Hope Minimusic starts behaving now!

shanks313 · 20/09/2011 23:27

Can I join? Got a BFP on Monday....will be my 3rd...already have DDs aged 4 and 3.Due date around May 21st according to conception date..cant remember when AF was last month.
Not many symptoms yet..a little nausea and a little more tired.

Northey · 21/09/2011 06:49

Morning all. Holiday going well, and my boobs are now sore enough for me to wince at bra removal and at water in shower, which is nice and reassuring that something is actually developing rather than going away. Still can't wait to get back for the follow up scan though. Hopefully this time something will actually be visible :( But I'm trying not to worry too much.

Little9, I'm so pleased to hear the spotting has stopped. That's really fantastic news.

Hello newly pregnant people! Congratulations and welcome!

FloydieDoydie · 21/09/2011 07:46

Have been awake since about 3.30am coughing Sad Every cough and sneeze gives me a pulling pain in my groin, which I hope is just the ligaments straining, rather than anything scary Sad

Feeling too yakky to head up the hill into the village to the chemist; especially as I can only have honey glycerine stuff anyway.

I'm just grateful that my neurologist has signed me off for next 6 weeks (for unrelated dizzy/faintness, that he thinks is a type of migraine), so at least I don't have to cope with working as well as feeling shitty. And counting my blessings that I'm not having morning sickness unlike some of you poor ladies

As my laptop screen is broken (thanks DP!), I can't copy and paste from the iphone app - can someone update me on the list as baby %231. Ta Smile

FloydieDoydie · 21/09/2011 07:47

....that's baby number one, rather than 231!

BlueCrane · 21/09/2011 09:13

Morning all...please can I join too? 4+1 today and got my BFP on Sunday after waking up with a stinking cold and sore throat and thought i should test before dosing myself up with cold and flu meds! We've been TTC since January but had an MMC found at 12w scan at the end of May. SO SO pleased to be pregnant again and trying to stay positive about all being ok this time around! So...stats...

TooOldForThisLark · 21/09/2011 09:36

Welcome to the newcomers - sorry to hear of past miscarriages.

Question to the other 3rd and 4th timers - have you found your pregnancies different? I was pretty sick with my daughter, very sick with the twins and now at 7 weeks am just "quite sick"!! I know this is variable and I've looked it up and found lots of people saying "every pregnancy is different" blah blah. I just wondered what our experience was in our group!

Yorky · 21/09/2011 12:17

Bluecrane - I hope you're sticking around this time if you're handing round home made cakes! Fingers crossed it all goes well for you this time.

TooOld - I love your name, fits me like a glove! pg 4 now and the only one where I have had real nausea, with DS1 I was completely symptom free, with DD I was tired and SO grateful to DS1 for letting me share his afternoon naps! By DS2 I started getting a bit of SPD - he was my hardest pregnancy physically, and the longest being 11 days late! So yes, they're all different but I think this'll be the last (slightly :( )

Just got back from booking in appt with my very nice community MW, she seems really nice and explained to me the choices of hospital to go under as I don't know the area at all, although she knows I'm hoping for a homebirth again. Scan not till 24th Oct!! seems like ages away

cupcakefairy · 21/09/2011 12:32

Hmph, jealous of all you seeing midwives...they've changed things here (Wales) so we don't see one til straight after the dating scan at the hospital...and I can't book a dating scan til next week...

TooOld am impressed at you having another after one and a set of twins...I am quite terrified at the thought of this being twins, don't think I could cope!

Welcome bluecrane...sorry to hear about your mmc; I had one in 2009 before my ds; it's such a horrible thing to go through...and even worse when GPs etc act as if nothing's happened by refusing reassurance scans etc :( I know it is v common and would cost loads to offer reassurance scans to everyone who miscarried but still....wish they could do it. Have faith in your little one...there is absolutely no reason why this pregnancy shouldn't be just fine.

Great news musicalmrs on HCG levels and Northey on symptoms...when is your next scan?

Welcome wommer too and don't worry! It is totally normal to feel scared... in my last pregnancy it was v much planned and felt all 'gooey' as you described until it was real and I was literally terrified every day in the early months. You WILL get the excitement back and I can promise you there is nothing as exciting as when you meet your baby for the first time :) And also wrt having more time to get used to it...don't worry, you have 8 more months to get used to the idea Grin thank goodness pregnancy isn't short or we'd all be panicking! Take care of yourself xxx

Must dash...my wee one is awake!

Yorky · 21/09/2011 12:37

CupcakeFairy - its not you who does the fantastic face and bump painting is it?

cupcakefairy · 21/09/2011 13:41

Nooo...wasn't that memorylapse who had her bump painted before? Looked fab.

RedSlippers · 21/09/2011 13:47

Hi all,

Sorry this isn't going to be a cheery post :(

Started bleeding today, with period type cramps. Been to docs who referred me straight away for an early scan, but the hospital can't scan me until Monday morning.

Doc was lovely, but very realistic about things. So am preparing for the worst. The bleeding along with my lack of symptoms and just not 'feeling' pregnant don't look good- just wish I didn't have to wait until Monday to know for sure.

Been told to have bed rest and take paracetamol for now. Part of me is still quietly hopeful for a happy outcome.

MixedClassBaby · 21/09/2011 14:13

Aw, RedSlippers. Fingers crossed for you. Sorry you have to wait until Monday Sad. Take care. x

BlueCrane · 21/09/2011 14:19

red so sorry to hear your news, can't believe they can't scan until Monday Angry that's awful for you to have to wait! Rest well and hopefully there will be some good news!

yorky lots more homemade cakes and biscuits to come...I love baking so will happily use it as a distraction technique to get me through these first few months...just need to make sure I don't eat too many home baked goods and end up a bit too round as a result Smile I also intend sticking around this time...hear that little bean...no funny stuff allowed this time!!

cupcake thankfully my GP has put me in for an early scan at 8 weeks and has actually been great. I went to see him on Monday as am full of a cold and was panicing about getting raised temp/fever and hurting the bean but he said not to worry...also that he may as well do the MW referral forms whilst I was there! So hoping for an early view and good news in a scan room this time...all previous scan experiences have been v depressing with the MMC!! Sorry to hear about your MC too.

I will try and read back up the thread in a bit but for now I really should do some work!

Quenelle · 21/09/2011 15:57

Sorry to hear that RedSlippers. Awful to have to wait until Monday too.

Rest and hope for the best. I have FX for you.

musicalmrs · 21/09/2011 16:35

RedSlippers - I'm so sorry to hear that. Try to keep positive though.

I started bleeding a little on Wednesday and Thursday - hCG was around 9000 on Wed.

I then bled torrents on Satuday. My hCg level was at 17000 - showing it had risen since the previous bleed. I then continued to bleed on Sunday, and a little on Monday. On Tuesday, the scan showed a yolk sac and I had hCG levels of 30000. Obviously it's too early to tell if it's viable, but it's all a good sign.

What I'm saying is... keep positive. I don't get a scan for two weeks (a week Monday) to find out precisely if everything is ok, and I've bled more today with horrendous cramps yesterday.

At least they've booked you in for a scan (mine didn't after the first bleed!). Will be thinking of you, and fingers crossed - please keep us updated. Plus - what kind of bleeding is it? How does it compare to your usual AF - and are there any clots?

Northey · 21/09/2011 17:32

redslippers, that's really crappy news, and you must be so worried and miserable. I think you're right to prepare for the worst, not because I think it's necessarily goIng to happen, but because I find it makes me calmer and better able to deal with things if they do go wrong - I have prepared for it so I know what I want to ask and so on. But musicalmrs speaks sense, and her experience just shows how random the connection can be between what's happening externally and internally, so don't lose heart. We're all keeping out fingers crossed for you. Let us know if anything changes between now and Monday. And of course let us know how the scan goes. My scan is on Tuesday, so will be waiting alongside you.
