Northey, you're clearly blessed (or cursed) with early symptoms then! I had heavier bleeding yesterday, so headed to A&E. They were useless, but after 3.5 hours I finally got to the ward (after telling them what I wanted!) to see a gynae doctor, who was lovely. She told me my new hCG levels (9000 to 17000, which is fine - although quite high for where I think I am, interesting). She also examined me, said that it looked ok, and that the bleeding wasn't too bad. Scan booked in for Monday or Tuesday (depending on whether there's a cancellation Monday, as I'm first on the list).
Think the problem at A&E is that the doctors didn't necessarily know where to send me. Last night, my doctor asked "Do you want to be admitted?". I said no, but I wanted to know my hCG levels and have a scan! Apparently I just needed to ask ;)
So: hCG levels good, internal examinations look good. Obviously that doesn't rule out miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, but it's looking promising- she did reassure me that a lot of people bleed, which I already knew. As my hCG is so high, there should be a definite result whenever I get scanned. Fingers crossed..!
Clabby, I've had spotting and since had reassurance that my hCG levels are going up. Try to stay positive, and get checked out as soon as you can! Maybe try a different doctor - or your local Early Pregnancy Unit? Though be warned, when I phoned mine they weren't very helpful, saying they couldn't scan me until I'd been referred by A&E or a doctor. However, after my first trip to A&E with bleeding (last Wednesday) I should have been referred and a scan booked apparently. I think it's just about finding the right people. Make sure you tell them how worried you are - bleeding is normal during pregnancy, but if you're so worried they should check it out for you.
