I only did it a test this morning and have not even told my husband yet!

Can't believe there's talk of buggies, etc already!! Can't really believe it's real, despite finding out two weeks ago and ticking a hundred symptom boxes. It's all quite daunting. I've told quite a lot of colleagues, as I work in a medical practice and so they all notice when you're slightly out of sorts (and I can't help it as am a huge oversharer!) They have all been really excited for me, but although I don't feel particularly anxious, I can't/won't let myself feel excited - does anyone else feel that way...?

...generous splodges of babyglue to everyone...

Thanks Little and Dreaming, seems we are all due 11/12th, and all getting pinky discharge this week- knowing this has really made me feel better. Wish I had never done that stupid test this morning.

I have just been looking at pregnancy books online after the reccommendations on here. And cried. For absolutely no reason. So I guess the random tearfulness IS a sympton!

Sugarx I keep stopping myself from getting excited, so I know what you mean. I'm wishing the weeks away until the first scan, and then I will be really excited!!

MyDaydream · 16/09/2011 18:32

I got my scan date for the end of October today, very excited as I'm so stressed at the minute with non-baby things it's kinda nice to have baby things to think about.
I'm having massive mood swings, mad crying about really stupid things ("But I'm never going to be able to go to Peru with a baby" was the other nights! Don't even want to go to Peru.) Getting really hyper straight after a crying sesh, and being generally quite snappy when it's not called for.

I think my morning sickness is compensating for the rest of youse... I had to take the Oxford Tube yesterday (Oxford > London coach service) and it may possibly have been the worst journey of my wee life. Everyone keeps saying 'oh but it's a really good sign' and yes, I understand that, but it's a bit pissing hard to appreciate when one has just vomited out of one's nose.

The work rumour mill is that someone's pregnant, majorly stressed, has been on a few too many benders this week or is really rather ill. Hee hee!

I am seriously tempted to just tell everyone now, even though I'm only just coming up to 7 weeks...

Yorky · 16/09/2011 20:18

HI all, had a pretty lazy day today - which isn't as ideal as it sounds as MIL is coming round tomorrow! Still tired and trying not to think about being backachey and hoping its just stretchy aches. I should be used to this by now
Who was asking about the close carrier? - I love mine but am always surprised by how tight I wear it, did you know it can be used in a similar way to a ring sling as a hammock for tinies too?

Hi mildertduck, sorry to hear you've been so sick. I havent actually been sick yet, but the past 3 days i have been feeling more and more nauseous. Its constant, like seasickness and absolutely exhausting. I'm meant to be on study leave this week, but have slept for almost the entire time! How can i sleep 10 hours every night, then get up and within four hours be craving my bed again?! On the positive side, at least feeling sick is reassuring me that i AM pregnant!

Right. Adding myself as a first-timer. Thanks for all your kind words about the empty scan and CB digital dating hoo ha. The hCG tests yesterday and today show that levels are rising, albeit slowly, so I can feel reasonably happy that there hasn't been a miscarriage, and that I am just earlier along than I thought. So I am trying to comfort myself with that thought (and with takeaway curry) and will see what happens with the follow up scan in 10 days.

RedSlippers · 16/09/2011 21:15

Brillaint news about the HCG levels Northey, I came across your other thread earlier re the CBD- they really do cause a lot of worry and should be ignored by the sounds of it.

Hope you feel reassured that the levels are rising, and good luck with the next scan.

Northey · 16/09/2011 21:24

Thanks, redslippers. I was just catching up on the thread and saw that you had been having issues with it as well. You sound like you're feeling a bit better though. How are you feeling now?

RedSlippers · 16/09/2011 22:03

Feeling much more positive, thanks.

I was moaning earlier that I have no symptons, but bet I also moan when I do get them so should prob enjoy it before the sickness etc kicks in!

Mildertduck tube/nose vomiting does not sound fun!! Hope you're feeling much better.

musicalmrs · 16/09/2011 22:16

Northey, I saw your CBD thread, and am glad things are working out for you. How did you get them to do the blood tests etc though? I'm at about 6 weeks, and had two days of bleeding (yesterday and the day before) - along with some abdominal pain. I went to A&E and had one set of bloods done, along with urine samples... they said that all seemed fine and my hcg is at 9000, so they weren't too worried, and sent me on my way. Would quite like a follow up scan or blood test to double check things are still progressing though (so so worried about mc/ectopic), but I have to wait until I see my GP on Fri, and go from there. STill a bit worried....

Milder, sorry to hear about the horrible vomiting :( I'm getting nauseous, but being ill in an entirely different way - which is completely fine for me, as I've had lots of problems with IBS in the past, so I'm used to it I suppose...

Northey · 17/09/2011 06:11

musicalmrs, because I have such long, long cycles, the GP and I had made a guess based on the first appearance of symptoms. She wanted to confirm that, though, in case we got it wrong and I missed the window for Downs testing, etc. So off for an early scan, where we saw nothing, so she needed to do the tests straight away to see whether we needed to worry about ectopic pregnancy. But it looks like in fact I just had symptoms from about 2 seconds after conception, rather than the two weeks we were basing our guess on.

Can you ask your GP outright for a second blood test when you see him/her on Friday? You really need one, to see if the levels are going in the right direction. You also need reassurance, so should explain how much you are worrying about it.

Could you ask for a scan? I can't have mine for 10 days, which seems an age away, but I sort of appreciate the point that they have to give something time to appear in the uterus, even if I want them to be able to prove RIGHT NOW whether I am pregnant, how pregnant I am etc.

TooOldForThisLark · 17/09/2011 09:40

I used a CBD with conception indicator at and it gave me a 1-2 when I was hoping for a 2-3 - I spent hours reading everyone elses stories too. The product should be banned!

Wow, tired today. Worked a 12 hour shift yesterday then decided it would be a good idea to go out for chinese with 'the girls'. Trying to cover up all day nausea and not drinking whilst at a chinese buffet was fun! Wink Thankfully DH is off this weekend and has been looking after DD all day while I lay on the sofa snoozing.

Hope everyone's feeling okay (or feeling sick/sore boobs etc etc which is what some of us want Grin). Milder hope the vomiting lets up soon for you x

Clabby · 17/09/2011 17:00

Hi, Im new to this site and a potential first time mum (due middle of May 2012) bit anxious of writing on this as i dont want to to get excited about having a baby just yet. Took the text last weekend (and cried, despite trying for a baby but i didnt think it would happen so quickly, 2 months!). Havent had many of the usual symptoms although am now 6 weeks and starting to feel sick every now and then. I dont have sore boobs either - YAY although they are already massive. I have been spotting on and off, i called the doctors who didnt reassure me AT ALL, and when i asked for an 8 week scan to hear the heart beat she said the NHS wouldnt fund that and I would have to go private! surely thats not right! I have given a urine sample to sure no infection but (fingers crossed) havent had any spotting for the past two days. Most of my friends have miscarried their first and i am terrified! I am very bloated though and already struggling to get into my clothes. I fear the next 8 weeks will go very slowly! So nice to find somewhere where other people are or have been through the same thing.

Oooooh - add me to the list please! I'm due on May 18th - two days before my birthday!!!

Congratulations to everyone on here! I'd forgotten how absolutely knackering pregnancy can be!!!!! Grin

Wrigglebum · 18/09/2011 10:59

Gosh this is moving along fast!

Got a major headache this morning so feeling sorry for myself in bed while DH takes DS out to the museum with the bus (DS loves buses). I'm finding the nausea just about manageable with travel bands and slowly sipping a can of dr pepper in the morning. Did a shop yesterday with things I think I can manage and got lots of dry snacks which seem to help.

Last pregnancy I had no cravings, just aversions to some foods so wondering if it'll be the same again. Do really want a nice juicy steak right now but none for a while now as I'd rather not have it than have it cooked well done (I like it rather rare, preferably with blue cheese on top). My cheat way to enjoy forbidden foods (off limits cheeses, Parma ham) last time was to wack them on a pizza, when you cook them it kills the listeria and makes them safe. You can also bake Camembert in its box (take off the paper first!) until it's thoroughly cooked through and safe and then dip bread in, yum!

We have a Close sling and really liked it from newborn, they should have the different ways to carry on their website I think. DS is two now and I carried him in it the other day and it was still comfy (but he does only weigh 21lbs and wouldn't let me carry him far). We're also thinking about pushchairs, DH decided we needed something a bit more rugged after we pushed the maclaren around a farm :-) he liked the look of the bugaboo until I told him how much they cost! Am thinking of the Oyster with air tyres instead, gets great reviews on here, anyone got any experience of one? I'll need one that's easy to push since I'll be having a CS.

Had my midwife appt on thurs, makes it all seem more real. They were really lovely and assured me that with my history no consultant would deny me a CS. My tactical error was having a HUGE plate of asparagus before I went so produced the stinkiest urine sample over Blush DS had mega stinky nappies too.

Has turned into a bit of an essay, that's what a bit of quiet time does for you!

Hi, I'm expecting my first too. Had to go and sit down while DH finished the groceries as I was feeling all light headed

Northey, you're clearly blessed (or cursed) with early symptoms then! I had heavier bleeding yesterday, so headed to A&E. They were useless, but after 3.5 hours I finally got to the ward (after telling them what I wanted!) to see a gynae doctor, who was lovely. She told me my new hCG levels (9000 to 17000, which is fine - although quite high for where I think I am, interesting). She also examined me, said that it looked ok, and that the bleeding wasn't too bad. Scan booked in for Monday or Tuesday (depending on whether there's a cancellation Monday, as I'm first on the list).

Think the problem at A&E is that the doctors didn't necessarily know where to send me. Last night, my doctor asked "Do you want to be admitted?". I said no, but I wanted to know my hCG levels and have a scan! Apparently I just needed to ask ;)

So: hCG levels good, internal examinations look good. Obviously that doesn't rule out miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, but it's looking promising- she did reassure me that a lot of people bleed, which I already knew. As my hCG is so high, there should be a definite result whenever I get scanned. Fingers crossed..!

Clabby, I've had spotting and since had reassurance that my hCG levels are going up. Try to stay positive, and get checked out as soon as you can! Maybe try a different doctor - or your local Early Pregnancy Unit? Though be warned, when I phoned mine they weren't very helpful, saying they couldn't scan me until I'd been referred by A&E or a doctor. However, after my first trip to A&E with bleeding (last Wednesday) I should have been referred and a scan booked apparently. I think it's just about finding the right people. Make sure you tell them how worried you are - bleeding is normal during pregnancy, but if you're so worried they should check it out for you.

Hi All, I am also feeling quite dizzy and rubbish despite doing nothing all weekend. Have basically been lying around feeling sorry for myself whilst DH deals with DS!
wriggle bum go for it with the rare steak - you're probably craving it because you need the iron. And as long as the outside is cooked it's fine as the inside is sterile. Rare burgers are a no no though. I had Parma ham the other day which I think is fine too as it's cured. But then had a spoonful of tiramisu before being told it had raw eggs in Blush
