Onlymydog -I'm sorry to hear your news, glad you sound upbeat. Here's to June!

Cacacaz · 12/09/2011 06:25

Onlymydog so sorry for your loss

Thank you myweeangel

We told both our parents and brothers and sisters on Friday, after I had been to the gp. I know its early but my mum is currently going through treatment for breast cancer and DH mum is suffering from anxiety, so we decided they could both do with some good news.

I have to admit I have been a tad annoyed with some family members, asking if my pregnancy was planned, I think that's downright rude and none of their bloody business.

Can anyone recommend any pregnancy books?

Byrnsie30 · 12/09/2011 08:51

Hey all,

So sorry for your loss onlymydog. I feel your pain having been there twice. Great that you're feeling upbeat. Remember you are not alone and pop back anytime x

Byrnsie30 · 12/09/2011 08:58

Me again,

On another note - welcome and congrats to newbies.

Little9 I am feeling paranoid too. Any twinge in abdomen or lower and I'm rushing to the loo to check all is well (TMI!) I can't carry on like this for the next 6-7 weeks 'til the first scan. I need to find a way to relax into it. But after 2 previous chems it's difficult! I might go to docs and see if I can be scanned sooner. I know it offers no guarentees, but it might set my mind at rest!

Apart from twinges, my only other symptoms are sore boobs! Maybe I'll be a lucky one who doesn't get sick (famous last words!!)

Floydie you still out there somewhere?x

lalabaloo · 12/09/2011 09:44

Morning all, my morning sickness started this morning in the car on the way to work so have had to head back home. Feeling irrationally upset about it, like I should be able to just work through it or something. I feel like i've let work down by having morning sickness and worried that now all the rumours will start :(

lalabaloo · 12/09/2011 09:46

Byrnsie If you can't get an earlier scan could you get a private scan? I am having one at what I think will be 7 weeks as i'm unsure of dates

HeidiHole · 12/09/2011 10:07

When are you all telling your family? This will be first grandchild on both sides and the excitement will be HUGE! Currently 4w+6 and having a (private) scan at 5w+3 just to see if we can see anything (it's only £25!)

So we are really really tempted to tell our parents and grandparents at 5w+4 after the scan as by chance they are all staying with us at the moment so we can say face to face...

So when are you telling family?

HeidiHole · 12/09/2011 10:09

oh lala don't be silly you can't help it! I hope you feel better, i'm sure noone will think twice about it work!

Cacacaz · 12/09/2011 11:08

heidihole how did you find out about where to get an early scan?

We told both sets of parents last Friday, only because a) I'm useless at keeping secrets and b) both our mums were in need of good news.

My gp actually encouraged me to tell family at this point, probably so we have a support network.

FloydieDoydie · 12/09/2011 12:22

I am indeed still here Byrnsie

I think the worry of boring anyone by banging on about it constantly is making me a bit shy! But I suppose if there is anywhere I'm allowed to be a baby-bore its here Grin

I'm still only feeling nauseous if I need to eat (NOW!), so I'm hoping that's going to remain the case Smile. Boobs like watermelons and rather sore - especially when my darling 14mo step-daughter flings herself across them!

Also a bit over emotional at the moment; DP got a new motorbike and I had a little sob to myself because the pillion position on it is horrid. Never mind that I'm not actually going to be able to go on the back with him for quite some time now (as knowing him, he will probably have changed to a different one by then anyway!). Oh - and i burst into tears when one of the contestants on The Great British Bake Off knocked his cake on the floor.

On my side, we've only told my Mum (my Dad and Bro are both no longer alive). I dont want to tell my Grandparents until after 12 week scan, as it would be too upsetting for them if anything was to happen in the meantime. I'm DYING to tell by best friends though, but I'm being superstitious Smile

And on DPs side, we've told his Mum&Step-dad, his Dad, sister and brother. Oh and his step-nan knows, which I was a bit pissed off about, but she doesn't live here and can't tell anyone worth telling anyway, but still Sad.

FloydieDoydie · 12/09/2011 12:25

...and knowing him he will have a different bike... (bloody phone!)

lalabaloo · 12/09/2011 12:50

Thanks Heidi I just feel like there have been millions of pregnant women and here I am making a fuss about feeling ill! I just cried in the car earlier and kept saying "sorry, sorry, sorry I was sick" etc to my poor husband, who obviously told me I was being daft and shouldn't be sorry! On another note, where on earth did you get a private scan for £25?! I have booked one but it is a lot more than that, maybe I need to book somewhere else

lalabaloo · 12/09/2011 12:52

Oh and Floydie don't worry, I was on the brink of tears in pets at home on Saturday because there was a gerbil in the adoption section that had been there a week and I thought we should adopt him as nobody will ever adopt him and he is going to have a horrible lonely life in the pet shop then die... Hmm

mildertduck · 12/09/2011 13:22

Hello. Today I have spent most of the day with my head down the loo at work. Oh this is not pleasant. Interestingly Ribena is the only thing that's settling my stomach (though possibly it's because it will at least be entertaining when it comes back up)

Feeling extremely sorry for myself today but at least my mother-in-law e-mailed me to say if I felt too ill to work I could let myself into her house and she'd look after me when she gets home. So that was rather nice, at least!

lalabaloo · 12/09/2011 14:00

Aww mildertduck you poor thing :( Do work know your exciting news? I hope you feel better soon

HeidiHole · 12/09/2011 14:10

I'm in Scotland and closest place is Perth

i'm going here

www.babyscanstudioperth.com/packages___prices.html

It is £25 from 5-8 weeks so seeing as we're driving through Perth on Friday anyway thought we'd stop in even though it is USUALLY 6 weeks before you can see a heart beat and i'll only be 5 and a half weeks... but we'll be able to see the sac and just check that there REALLY IS something in there! I just want reassurance i'm not making it up!

I guess the rest of you being charged more live in the south of england or somewhere where things are more expensive!

Harecare · 12/09/2011 16:21

Lalabaloo - the main reason I took a test was I was irrationally tearful. Trying to stop the teariness doesn't seem to work.
Mildertuck - sorry you've been so sick, I don't get sick, but my friend was dreadfully sick in her pregnancies so I can understand how awful it must be.
Heidihole - I've told my Mum as she won't fuss and she'll keep it secret. She also won't get upset if I miscarry, she'll just have the right words to make me feel less bad. We can't tell DPs family 'til the scan as so far we're 2 days away from DPs only sister's big grand scale wedding so we're hoping the scan will give us an extra 7 days (in last 2 pregnancies the scan date was 7 days earlier than my dates).

Cacacaz · 12/09/2011 16:22

Thanks for the link heidihole I am also in Scotland, although not at all close to Perth.

I am now looking for reasons to visit Perth!

FloydieDoydie · 12/09/2011 16:45

I think I gave hit a new record for pregnancy-related sappyness....

The pregnacare vitamins I ordered arrive today, and I feel guilty and sad for abandoning my trusty pot of folic acid I bought whilst trying to conceive Blush

Think someone needs to have a word!

lalabaloo · 12/09/2011 17:02

Oh Floydie! Pregnancy makes us so irrational doesn't it! Heidihole that makes sense, I live in the South so that probably explains the difference in cost. I don't blame you having a scan even if you don't know you will see the heartbeat at that price, in fact I wonder if I could do a weekend trip to Perth...

Little9 · 12/09/2011 18:22

Hello All. I've just told my parents and sister and DH parents and brother. My best friends also guessed a week ago when I went round for a meal and they noticed my glass of wine never went down and i didn't eat the camembert or pink duck they'd cooked!! No grandparents to tell on either side. Have only told my manager at work in case I need time off for anything. Nobody else will be told until after my scan which is on 28th Oct. Seems an age away! Have had the odd wave of nausea today but not enough to get me running to the toilet yet! Might try ribena mildertduck if it gets any worse. Hope your feeling better.

Byrnsie30 · 12/09/2011 18:41

Hey all,

This has been a busy club since I posted this morning! Can't keep track on what everyone has said so going to reply generally Smile

Hi again floydie, and also lulabaloo (sure I've been on conception buses with you?)

Sorry to all of those suffering sickness and tears, I know this may infuriate people, but I have to say it - I'm a little jealous Envy Blush I wish I was beginning to experience more symptoms as it would reassure me that things are progressing and that my hormones are increasing. When did people strart feeling/being sick?

Think I'm about 4 weeks +5, and my only symptoms so far are pangs in the lower stomach and groin (every now and again - throwing me into panic!), sore boobs and very, very slight nausea (could be imagined!!) Grin

Myself and DH are not planning on telling people until after 12 week scan (even if I do get an early scan!) I just couldn't face telling people if it all went wrong! Might end up telling some close friends who know we are trying and know about the chems, but haven't said anything about ttc to my family (although DH's dad and my BIL and SIL know about one of the chems) so will keep it to ourselves!

Thanks for the advice about early scans. I haven't been to docs to discuss it yet. Will probably give it 'til next week. They have been pretty supportive so far so I reckon my chances are good of getting an NHS freebie Wink If not, I'm up north so hopefully won't be too pricey!

Hope everyone is feeling better soon. Don't worry about work lulabaloo x

jezebelle · 12/09/2011 19:55

I need to join here, though i'm in denial given my ds2 is only 12 weeks :o

sunshine100 · 12/09/2011 20:03

Hi Everyone,
Interesting info about the early scans - also feeling parnoid, very few symptoms (I know I should be pleased, but maybe one or two symptoms would be reassuring) boobs were super sore, but now not so much. No tears, sickness or tiredness yet. Might do another test to make sure...

Very sorry to here your news Only, take care of yourself.

Can't find who posted to see if there are any recommended books - I bought 'Your Pregnancy Week by Week' seems not bad - but I've not got alot to compare it with.
