Well, are we?

Has the sickness abated?
Are our locks shiny and luscious?
Are our nails long and strong?
Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Hi everyone hope you are all keeping well and safe. Had my scan today they have put me back now by 2 days, after they put me forward 1 day last time, oh well baby will come when he/she wants to I guess. Ive no idea why but I always refuse the downs syndrome tests because it really wouldn't make a difference to my decision but Ive not been able to get it out my mind this time, so when she checked I was sure I didn't want the tests (never checked before?) I changed my mind hope I did the right thing?

Well three people have asked when I'm due today its either I'm huge or the top I was wearing because they all seemed very shocked when I said I'm only 11+3, I hope its the top haha.

Got a bloody parking ticket at the hospital and I really cant see why so now have all the hassle of appealing that.

Sugarkane · 09/08/2011 21:07

Oh forgot to say that I'm also being sent to the consultant for my prolapse to make sure that it will hold up through pregnancy and birth. Keeping my fingers crossed as its already in a bit of a mess (sorry TMI).

When I'm with the consultant they are also getting my old notes of from DS to find out why I lost so much blood and needed a 3 unit blood transfusion because it was never explained to me so I couldn't tell them today, fingers crossed might help me put my mind at rest for this birth as its been worrying me a little.

God I wish MN had an edit button....

phlossie · 09/08/2011 23:08

How old's your laptop, woowa? My battery stopped working when it was about 3 or 4 years old - you may need a new one.

Did I tell you about my friend's prolasped anus, Sugarkane? I think I did. I hope your prolapse is ok. Sounds like your first birth was a bit of an ordeal.

For all those having second babies - the rumours are true, second births are mostly a lot easier than the first!

Watching News 24 about all this rioting. It's full on! My friend has been evacuated from her flat in London - she had to run for it and is now living in a hotel! It's scary stuff if your stuck in it or near it. Hope you're all safe. We ok in Bristol suburbia.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 10/08/2011 04:31

Woowa, it's less common with cured fish but there is still a risk of listeria/worms with raw fish (that's why sushi is only ok if it's been frozen first). All about what you're comfortable with doing. I personally am not eating these things, but as I said I have a particular reason why I feel mire nervous about it all this time and am being a Good Girl!

Sugar80 · 10/08/2011 07:19

Scan today!!! Not until this evening though. Nervous and excited.. must remember to drink lots!

Sugarkane · 10/08/2011 09:11

Yes Phlossie you did thank you, they were quite hopeful that I may not have too many problems because its my vaginal wall rather than my uterus that has collapsed. It was my second that did the damage, in fact I loved giving birth to my 1st. Just goes to show that labour can be a good experience as well as overwhelming.

Sugar good luck today and do drink lots I did and she still said there wasn't enough so my pictures not very clear.

CoffeeOne · 10/08/2011 09:16

So happy about all the lovely scans :) good luck to those still waiting! My nuchal is on Monday and I'm very nervous and excited.

My sickness is fading but still feeling incredibly tired and dizzy :/ come onnnnn second trimester!

babycarmen · 10/08/2011 10:13

woowa the exact same thing happened to my laptop and it was the battery, just needed to get a new one.

phlossie jumping up and down at the idea of this one being easier then the first :D Even though my first labour was pretty easy and very quick.. dont see how this one could be much better hmm....

Still feeling sick but wasnt sick yesterday, managed to eat a good amount, im getting good at avoiding things that make me ill now. Hoping it lasts i have no energy at all and starting to feel like a rubbish mum to DD :(

Anyone glowing and full of energy yet? :D

Morning all. Hope you all survived the civil unrest. well done all the scanees. Another long wait until 20wks now.

I'm not being good. Although I am being informed about my naughty choices (ie researching odds about listeria from specific sources, if my yolk is runny it's a lion marked egg etc). I even had a small lager last week... Don't tell my mother in law... She can't cope with the perceived risks.

Ive got my first appointment with my independent midwife today. HBAC here I come (hopefully!) without all the drama of arguing With NHS. Grin its a coward's way out I know. And I shall miss lots of nice treats en route and will have to make do longer with a lot of stuff that we'd hoped to trade in soon.

Sugar80 · 10/08/2011 13:26

I had a glass on wine on Friday night. And a glass of champagne on my birthday a month or so ago. Both were lovely and I really enjoyed them! I've binned off sushi (just had the vegetarian version for lunch) just in case, and I'm only eating cured meats that have been cooked - pepperoni on pizza and parma ham in a quiche, and wrapped around chicken.

What's the deal with goats cheese? I've been avoiding it, but is it only the stuff with the rind I need to worry about?

louby86 · 10/08/2011 13:44

Hello everyone!

Hope you're all keeping safe if you're in the cities being affected by riots! Glad to see that there's a few of us being a bit naughty with the food! Just got back from my repeat nuchal scan as baby was too wriggly last week! The sonographer spent ages with us this time and got pictures at loads of angles including a tiny little footprint! Was way more emotional today but I think that's my hormones! I cried at a re-run of ER the other day, I'm terrible!

louby86 · 10/08/2011 13:45

Just realised I was that excited posting every sentence ended with an exclamation mark, sorry Blush

mistressploppy · 10/08/2011 13:47

Hi everyone, just checking in . I abstained totally with DS1, but have had the odd half-glass of vino in the last few weeks. Lush....Smile

I am feeling/looking very podgy indeed. Am putting it down to not thowing up Grin. Hope all the sicky ones are feeling better.

mistressploppy · 10/08/2011 13:47

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 10/08/2011 13:48

We had a lovely scan this morning! Wee person started off lying on his/her tummy, then flipped round and did a bit of leg and arm wavingSmile. We had the loveliest sonographer who took just the nicest pics and gave us 6 (for free!). (S)he has the cutest wee button nose already! And the NT measurement was beautifully tiny at 1.2mm, which is v reassuring for a granny like me!

So relieved. And the dates fitted really well with my own dates - brought forward by one day to the 19th, so there's a bit more room on the seat for all you ladies squashing into the 20th! I must remember to update the stats thread when I'm on my laptop rather than the phone.

claricestar · 10/08/2011 15:15

back from camping today, now piles of washing and unpacking to get through!

feeling loads better...went on loads of walks and bike rides while away..was very hard to avoid getting out of breath at times though!

bump very noticeable but that is to be expected with baby 3 I suppose! with baby 1 I could do up my jeans until 6 months, no chance with this one!

RANT WARNING

Work now know about my little pip. My proper boss came back off 2 weeks annual leave (after not letting anyone know she was goin) and said congratulations, but didn't i know having babies was against the rules? All jokey jokey. So i laughed along and said well you seem to be managing with a 4 year old so we'll cope. To which she had the bloody cheek to say 'yes but i don't let it interfere with my work life' ................. Angry tongue well and truly bitten but 1) i haven't let it interfere. I haven't taken one sick day, i've carried on as normal teaching, doing 8am starts and god knows what else and ive done everything that is ever asked of me and number bloomin 2! You are in your thirties with a 4 year old, your on well over £30k a year, still live with your parents so have free babysitters at the drop of a hat, you say you don't let it interfere with your worklife yet your the one who's always running '5 mins late' actually make that half an hour for meetings and swanning off early and sayin you can't do this and that late clinic because of your kid?! God makes my blood bloomin' BOIL

RANT OVER

oh yerr, where's the stats thread?

mistressploppy · 10/08/2011 18:59

Shock - Mellie, your proper boss was SO RUDE! Does she have a history of saying tactless and derogatory things???

I don't know why but that's made me really really cross!!!

mistressploppy · 10/08/2011 19:03

Oh, what I meant to come on and post was - I've just ordered a load of different alky-free wines from this site....if any of them are any good I'll let you all know!

YellowSparkle · 10/08/2011 19:05

Well i had my scan this morning and everything was ok. It was over with really quickly, as it only took 5 mins. Saw the heartbeat though and everything was ok.

Im so glad i can tell people now as im showing if i dont wear baggy clothes.

They also moved me back 5 days, which ties in with my dates so in 11+4

babycarmen · 10/08/2011 19:22

Ooh more scans :) Lovely!

mellie what a....!!! maybe shes jealous? She might be ttc or something? Or just a horrible person. Try not let her get to you, well done for being the bigger person and not biting back..like i would have done!

Managed to get through ironing, making dinner and bathing, bedding and reading stories to DD. Go me! Major improvements :)
14+2.

Sugar80 · 10/08/2011 19:32

Scan done! Baby started off wriggling, then cwtched right down so they couldn't be measured! A very stubborn one apparently. Fortunately he/she came back out with a bit of a mexican wave. Due date confirmed as 26th so 11+3.

deemented · 10/08/2011 19:35

Hi folks,

Jumping in to say hello Smile

Had my 12 weeks scan and am 11+4 today with an EDD of 25/02/12.

PDog · 10/08/2011 19:46

Shock mellie some people just don't think before they speak.

I know what you mean babycarmen, my poor DD must be fed of hearing "mummy is tired". Hoping to make it up to her when I feel better.

Great to hear so many positive scan stories.

Still feeling a bit yuck. Told my team today, they had guessed already- prob due to my huge belly Grin.

phlossie · 10/08/2011 19:57

Hello! Good scan news, everyone - and welcome deemented. We have a stats thread somewhere, so put your names, EDD etc on there!

Your boss sounds like a dick, mellie - just what you could do without. Maybe she does have issues!

Thanks for the research, mistressploppy - let us know how you get on! I have some Becks Blue, and I'm just waiting for it to be long enough since I last drank real beer before I try to con myself. Problem is, I don't really like lager, more of an ale girl, so maybe vino is a better bet. I did have half a glass of real cava last night, though!

Sorry to bring up foofs again, but is anyone else getting loads of discharge? Fanny snot is how I'd describe it. (so glad this is anonymous. Apart from lilyrose123 who knows exactly who I am - please don't read that last comment!)

Also, my boobs are splendid! Having had Two-Breastfed-Babies-Then-Lost-Weight style spaniel ears, they're back with a bloomin' vengance.

And while I'm on the subject, anyone with an inkling about whether you've got a girl or boy in there? My sickness was more like dd, cravings more like ds. If pushed, I'd say boy!
