Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Melliebobs people get SPD because ligaments that loosen to get ready for birth loosen too much and too early its all about the bloody hormones, once they are too slack the two pubic bones then move slightly out of alignment. There is also more research that says that women may have a built in asymmetry in the pelvis so maybe thats why some people get it and others dont??? All I know is it bloody hurts and has got earlier with each PG, DC1 30 weeks ish DC2 20 weeks ish and now DC3 around 13 ish weeks.

Thanks for the heads up QueenFee my nhs physio was so shit with the first and the brace so uncomfy I never went back the 2nd time even when I couldnt walk or get up the stairs.

God you lot can talk took me ages to catch up on what I missed yesterday (making use of the 3 for 2 on toys at argos for 12 hours Shock santa is all sorted now though.)

Im feeling really down and dark atm, hope it will pass I really dont know if I can talk to my MW or GP about it im scared Sad. Also had a panic attack today in the car was very scared (my first) it started after my DS choked on a sweet and scared the hell out of me 5 mins later couldnt get the choking out my head and paniced. God I feel really shit im off to bed, night all.

Xavielli · 17/09/2011 07:52

With regards to feeding I do intend to breast feed but am keeping an open mind and IMO being realistic in that this will be my 4th, I don't live with dp yet, my youngest will be 15 months when baby arrives. So I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself and so hopefully I won't feel a crushing sense of guilt if it doesn't work out. I've combined fed all mine and I know some people will think badly of me for it but I have happy, healthy children and I know I have done what is best for us as a family at any given time.

Oops, got a little ranty there! Sorry!

InnocentRedhead · 17/09/2011 09:05

Sugarkane I had that feeling earlier this week and it had lasted around a fortnight. It does lift, but Something is always in the back of mind. Book an appointment with your midwife as I have just to speak things through with her. I hope you are ok soon, it is horrible but apparently can be quite normal.

Xavelli I think the best thing is what you are doing - not to put too much pressure on yourself. My reasons for wanting to BF primarily is financial reasons. I know that may sound selfish, but that is what is driving my decision. I believe that formula is probably just as good for a baby. My DSD who was formula fed, obviously men cannot lactate and he brought her up, is the healthiest child I have ever seen!

Anyway, it has being decided that we are not finding out the sex of the baby, it has being spoke about between me and DP for ages and we hadn't come to a conclusion. I wanted part of my birth plan to be DP telling me if they were a boy or a girl, but then curiosity has being getting the better of me. WELL I had a dream in the night, long dream - won't bore you with most of the details, but I had a dream that the sonographer told us the gender, and in my dream I was inconsolable that the surprise had being ruined. I was a mess in my dream as I knew what I was having so I hope that it is a sign. Strange I know, but that is how it will happen now.

QueenFee · 17/09/2011 11:44

xavelli we all are just doing whats best for our our famillies. I hate when people get all judgy on the bf/formula debate. I did my training because I knew people who wanted to bf but did not get enough help to do so and were sad to give up but I am certainly not out to pressurise people.
I think thats why I liked the course yesterday there was a real focus on the practical side rather than all the annoying breast is best thing. I bf mine because i'm too lazy to bottlefeed, I like the convenience side of it.
Innocent i've had some bizarre dreams recently!

melliebobs · 17/09/2011 12:14

Yey exception card has arrived. Got 17 months to stock up on as many inhalers as possible. Really miffs me that I have to pay to have the right to breath! Lol

littlemonkeybix · 17/09/2011 12:15

On dreams, I was fighting children to get to a macdonalds vending machine in my dream last night... They kept stealing my milkshake!!!

I don't like macdonalds!!! (I'm the colonel's bitch)

littlemonkeybix · 17/09/2011 12:17

mellie I got my exemption as soon as I registered the PG with my GP (5weeks), well a few days in the post... Already got the inhaler pile on the go!!! [Wink]

phlossie · 17/09/2011 12:19

My dreams have been bonkers too! Really vivid.

Congrats on the baby girl, runaround! I don't think we're going to find out. I'm going to leave it to the day and see how the mood takes us!

I bf my two for 11 months each. I meant to introduce a bottle, but never got round to it. I'm lazy, disorganised and a bit chaotic, so I just found it much, much easier to have all the milk my babies needed ready to go when they needed it. Plus I loved breastfeeding and so did my babies. I'm looking forward to being able to do it again. I agree, queenfee some people want to and don't get enough help at the tricky bit at the beginning, and that's sad. But everyone has their own preferences and nobody should feel bad for making the choice. And my choice wasn't without criticism - someone accused me of being selfish for not letting DH do any feeding! Hmm

Bad luck to those with spd. I hope you cope ok. I think osteopaths are amazing.

Scan on Tuesday and then the six-day long Festival of My Birthday starts with a trip to Longleat on Wednesday (DS on inset day, DH has day's holiday)... NOt that I am in ANY WAY childish about my birthday!

melliebobs · 17/09/2011 13:06

phlossie it's your birthday so so what! I love birthdays cos it's one day out of 365 where it can be all about me! Lol gutted cos im working on my birthday this year first time in well. Ever!

Millie26 · 17/09/2011 18:54

Hello, just wanted to come on to say that I havent fallen off the bus, I have been lurking on my phone but not posted as couldn't remember my password and I'm only logged in on my laptop blah blah blah

Anyway, lovely to hear about everyone's scans and boy/girl news! :)

We had our 20 week scan yesterday and it was so amazing, they have brand new equipment as the hospital is spanking new and was like watching a film, albeit black and white. So much better than even 2 years ago with DD although out pictures were a bit crap. Luckily coudn't really see between its legs as we dont want to find out the sex with this one although am secretly hoping for a little sister for DD... :)

Bit annoying as finding out means you know if you need to but blue things or can just hand everything down.

The last few weeks have had their ups and downs. For example, a few weeks ago my blood group came back as A- where I had been A+ with DD.

The midwife panicked because I obv havent been given anti D before. They did it again and it turns out Im borderline +/- - how that can be I just dont know! As different hospitals have different testing levels, I am different this time but they said not to worry as the - side is so low.

Then on Thursday DH had to drive me to A and E as I thought I was going into labour, I couldnt walk and all under my bump was agony. I had to stay in and it turned out I have pulled the ligaments under my belly somehow and so now I am hobbing like an idiot and can't get up off the sofa without making an 'arrgggh' sound.

They put me on the delivery ward and I sat there for 10 hours listening to blood curdling screams. As I had a cs with DD and never really went into labour properly I'm a tad worried about going for a natural birth this time now, although I had Pethadine last time which was like having sunshine poured through me so that is definitely going on my birthplan...

Saw a couple of absolute newborns - oh my goodness they are amazing. So excited!!!!!

Kayano · 17/09/2011 22:09

I am so jealous Mellie. I hate all this waiting!

gonerogue · 17/09/2011 22:09

Hey Ladies

I haven't fallen off the bus either. APologies for the long absence - have had a touch few weeks, my DD moved into a new roo min creche so spent 2 weeks with 4 different viruses/stomach bugs. DH then got one of her bugs and it wasn't very much fun in the rogue house I can tell you.

My other news - did I tell ye about my Dad - basically he's got stomach cancer (3rd cancer in 5 years) but the docs told us it's inoperable and have given him days to weeks so have been just a case of wait and see. Sad I think I have gotten over the shock and am accepting that he's very sick and just need to let it (the sickness) run it's course.

Anyway enough about me

Innocent so sorry your boss was such a pita - glad you got it sorted out and that you also sorted a new house.

PamBeesly on the subject of anc and BF support in Ireland- the AN classes I went to did advise you on BF (apparently they weren't allowed to talk about FF to large groups but they did mention it. ) We used dolls to get the right position etc Grin

Then when in hospital the MWs were great with supportng BF. I had one MW though who was so focused on getting me to BF that she practically forced me to feed my not hungry DD who just needed to be winded. I have mainly positive feedback on the BF support.

Helloto everyone else- hope you are all ok sorry for lack of personals - will come back asap and catch up on the thread or the new thread as it will probably be.

PamBeesly · 17/09/2011 22:16

Hi Gonerogue glad DD is better. It must be a very difficult time for you and your family. I hope your dad isn't in a lot of pain.
Thanks for the reassurance re the BF support, at my first appointment the MW ran through a few things but didn't mention it specifically I'll just wait and ask at the next one (26th Oct)

Phlossie I LOVE my birthday like a child, and I hate when I have to work on it, I love that you are having a 'birthday festival' Grin

ZhenXiang · 18/09/2011 10:29

So sorry to hear about your Dad gonerogue, I hope like Pam said that he isn't in a lot of pain x

Millie glad it is just pulled ligaments (although painful) and not anything more serious, you must be happy to be back in your own bed.

Congratulations on the baby girl runaround :)

melliebobs · 18/09/2011 15:20

Just been baking Chocolate Brownies for a themed Jacobs Join I'm going to on Tuesday. dh just told me off for licking the beaters. Ooooops it's habit!

Kayano · 18/09/2011 16:14

I would do it too. Lion stamped eggs ftw!

CoffeeOne · 18/09/2011 17:32

first timer freak out over here...

So I've had quite a crampy pregnancy, period type pains throughout my 1st trimester and what I've assumed to be round ligament pains throughout my 2nd so far. The pains I've experienced over the last couple of weeks have been stitch type pains that happen when I stand up fast, or sneeze, or walk far. None of this has bothered me. Today however I'm experiencing quite a painful cramp sensation, it's hard to describe, it comes and goes every few minutes and only lasts for a second or two but it's painful enough to be described as 'sharp' or 'stabbing' in the centre of my stomach. It's been on and off all afternoon.

Is anyone else experiencing this? What should I do? I figure if I'm not bleeding or it's not excruciating then A&E on a Sunday is a waste of time. Should I call my midwife tomorrow or is this a normal pain?

18+1

PDog · 18/09/2011 18:38

Could be braxton hicks coffee but I would ring your midwife tomorrow just in case. I've had lots more aches and pains with this pg than I did with my first and had braxton hicks last week.

phlossie · 18/09/2011 19:45

Get it checked out - if it's central and low it could be a UTI. Is it in your back too? I had a very crampy week last week and freaked (3rd time freaker here, it doesn't get any better!) I spoke to a midwife and she said it was probably ligament pain. Also get a sharp pain if I sit up using my tummy muscles and sometimes when I sneeze. Remember everything's a-stretching at the moment.

I lick the beaters, mellie, can't help it!

So sad about your dad, gonerogue. I hope you take comfort in the new life inside you. I lost my much loved aunt in May (to alcholism, she died of a massive internal bleed - very sudden), and I've been thinking of ways I can honour her with my baby's name. It helps. I also have a close family - I hope your family can all support each other.

19 weeks today!

CoffeeOne · 18/09/2011 21:30

thanks guys, I'll make a call tomorrow I'm sure it's nothing.

InnocentRedhead · 19/09/2011 10:40

Coffeeone - I am in the same situation as you - quite crampy throughout - I have only just started relaxing about it but have booked a MW appointment to speak to her about it. I hope you get the reassurance you need when you speak to them.

gonerogue I am sorry to hear that, I really am, I just hope he is as comfortable as he can be and there isn't any prolonged suffering. Thinking of you.

Not much to update here, just plodding along, feeling a lot more positive recently thanks to the advice on here. I hope everyone else is well :)

melliebobs · 19/09/2011 10:46

coffee if its causing you pain ring up the midwife number and ask for advice. The worst they'll do is say it's nothing but rather that than plod on with it and it be something a bit more serious. Let us know-how you get on!

Finally this weekend I'm positive I've felt some sort of movement! It's happened more than once so it's definitely not trapped wind! Wooop! Its Kind of like a ball the size of a table tennis ball is being blown up and then it pops. But several times. Only annoying thing is when I notice it it's always a bit to late! I sit dead quite and for some reason hold my breath (like it will make a difference!) and all I can hear and feel then is my own pulse. Bonkers! Lol

phlossie · 19/09/2011 11:41

I do that, mellie. Pretty sure this baby thinks my bladder is a trampoline. My 2nd baby did that too - she was breech until 36 weeks, and then spent about 12 hours doing the longest, most uncomfortable somersault ever.

I had a real anxiety-ridden and crampy week last week, but all good this week.

Scan tomorrow - eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!

melliebobs · 19/09/2011 11:49

dh came downstairs yesterday and asked why the tv was on mute. My response 'cos i can feel pip move but its stopped'. Yes cos that makes sense!

scan tommorow?! How exciting! Well jealous. Got another 11 days to wait :s

CoffeeOne · 19/09/2011 14:45

Thanks for the support guys. It's completely stopped Confused no pain througout tonight or at all today. Little one has given me lots of pokes today too so I haven't called. I've got the number sat next to me at work so if it happens again I'll ring straight away!

Mellie - fellow Lancashire NHS-er, I'm assuming it's the 'maternity day unit' number they stuck on the front of the notes? That sounds like definite movement from your pip! Exciting!

Innocent - let us know what your midwife says, maybe we're just destined to have crampy pregnancies!

Phlossie - eee scan! I bet you don't sleep tonight Grin

Sorry about all the exclamation marks!!!!
