Well, are we?

Has the sickness abated?
Are our locks shiny and luscious?
Are our nails long and strong?
Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Mmm sounds delicious. I think its Fajitas in our house tonight, I can't get enough of spicy food!

melliebobs · 04/09/2011 13:53

Oooo that sounds yummy monkey

It's chicken chasseur in the melliebobs house in an attempt to give DH a half decent tea as I'm still off most foods :(

Potol · 04/09/2011 15:50

Hello everyone, all this talk of food is making me HUNGRY. Stop! Or come over and make me some supper please!

I'm17+4 today and like some of you haven't felt a flutter, let alone a kick. Although I am getting to the point where I need to start thinking about at least a bump band if not maternity trousers for work...

Btw I got told off by a friend (without children) for asking for a cup of tea. She sternly asked me how many I had per day. I said, usually one and sometimes two, and she tutted about the damage I was doing to the baby from my 'high caffeine intake' Hmm Erm, ok then...

Right, so I have another question for the lovely people on this forum. I posted a very long detailed post on my antenatal care which woowa was kind enough to answer. I've now been offered antenatal care at TWO hospitals- Kingston and Chelsea and West. Anyone with any advice on either or preferences etc?

babycarmen · 04/09/2011 17:05

melliebobs · 04/09/2011 17:08

Aw babycarmen that's rubbish and so frustrating. Fingers crossed ur better tomorrow. Maybe dry toast n flat coke although a bit boring will stay down n give u the bit of a boost u need Smile

Emz33 · 04/09/2011 17:27

Thanks so much for all the replies about baby kicks. Am glad my sharp pains weren't kicks, not sure I could have coped with them getting stronger as the baby grows! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Just found out another of my friends is pregnant - 4 of us due within 6 weeks of each other. We are going to have lots of fun in our mat leave! Grin

CoffeeOne · 04/09/2011 18:10

sorry guys, rant time.

I'm seriously pissed off at my mother. She's the only one who hasn't said congratulations to us, she actually rolled her eyes at me when I told her I was pregnant. Since then she's been ok and seems fairly interested in how I'm getting on. Today however the dreaded Christening topic came up. Me and DP already decided we're getting baby Christened at his church. It means a lot to him and I don't really like my church that much.

I knew my parents would be very annoyed at this and they questioned us today so we had to tell them our decision. My mother has this way of being completely venomous without saying a word, just squinting her eyes and pursing her lips. Then she started on at me about why I wanted a Christening at all (to goad me into an argument) but I just responded that it was our decision and it was personal. She just would not let it drop though and both me and DP have come away very pissed off and it's ruined my day. I can't stop thinking about it. I know this is the tip of the iceberg too, they think I should get a new car, and house, and should do this and that...

Does anyone else have a mother that can't accept that things are no longer her decision or in her control? I include her in everything, is it unreasonable for me to want to make my own decisions at 28?! ARGH!

QueenFee · 04/09/2011 20:10

Coffee - yes me!

My mothers response to my pg was oh i'm not suprised then changed the subject. She also doesn't agree with the way we do things at our church so constantly tries to change our minds etc. I read your post out to dp because it sounded so familiar! You are right though it's your decision whether she likes it or not ((hug))

CoffeeOne · 04/09/2011 20:37

Thanks Queen I feel better knowing I'm not alone! I love my mother but oh my god I could throttle her sometimes! I'm just going to be firm, something I've struggled with before, otherwise I can see this getting worse :S

In other news, I've just devoured a family packet of crisps, good times :)

16+1

woowa · 04/09/2011 21:52

mother daughter relationships. Anyone have an easy one? They do find it really hard to let go, and i think when their daughter is with child they can go a bit into overdrive with the controling. You and your DP are the parents and have spiritual responsibility for your child, so the baptism is your choice. Try not to get too mad though. Some annoying mums become lovely grannies when they actually find out what this baby is actually like, rather than just being an idea in her head. Now mothers-in-law... that's a different story!

On aspirin, i'm so sorry littlemonkey for panicking you. And i REALLY should have been more thoughtful since I have ALSO been prescribed aspririn to take to support the pregnancy! Sorry Blush. It's a 75mg dose, and normal aspirin is 300mg, which is why it's fine!

On caffeine, it has been linked to low birth weight. With DD I barely drank any. This time i have decided that decaf tea is so foul i'm going to have 2 cups of ordinary tea per day, plus the occasional real coffee at home (decaf when out as it's much stronger)

Doctor Who now, night!

Marking place and trying to catch up

Kayano · 05/09/2011 01:28

About people not congratulating you, my SIL did not congratulate me and locked herself in the bathroom for 30 mins in a sulk.

They weren't ttc or anything but she has major attention seeking issues despite having kids of her own already.

I was fuming and told DH that his bro could be god father but I wasn't having her as Godmother because she is rude and vile. Lot of backstory that's better placed in AIBU. One incident
Of MY cat dying and her threatening to kill herself etc...

Luckily I now no longer have to face telling her this because she revealed herself as a whorish skank and thus... I can have BIL with out her an her BS.

Sugarkane · 05/09/2011 10:00

Hi everyone im still here reading everyday but little to add that no one else already has iykwim. Hope everyone is doing good, spd is already a nightmare here and im finding it hard to pick up and play with dc's 3 and 22 months, I know its going to get alot worse yet so im trying to enjoy what I can do at the moment.

My DD started nursery last week and has surprised me so much by the 2nd day I didnt even get a kiss or a wave as she ran off, something I didnt expect as she is not the most outgoing of children due to being very shy, im so proud of her.

My SIL was the only one who didnt congratulate us when we broke the news but we found out she has been trying for the past year and was a little upset, we gave her time and a couple of weeks later she gave the big kiss and congrats.

Oh and about the faggots Ive had some since finding out PG and have been craving liver so may just give into that soon, as mentioned above I go with the a little every now and again wont hurt, theres no way I could give up a nice big bit of rare steak as a treat here and there either.

Changing2011 · 05/09/2011 12:45

Hi All can I join as a latecomer? I am due 23rd Feb, so 15 + 1 or 2 days?

We are not finding out what this bump is, we have a DD already who is 6 next week. We got some of the baby stuff out the loft yesterday and there is tons of neutral stuff, this baby wont need anything! I am glad Im a saver not a dumper.

Is anyone else getting stitch or cramp type pains, I posted on the pregnancy board but only got one reply, I had a really bad stitch/period type pain the other day, Midwife thinks it is pelvis stretching out.

mistressploppy · 05/09/2011 13:39

Welcome Changing!

Phew, I am sick of tidying up! We are selling our house and I'm trying to keep it nice for viewers - not easy with a nearly-two-year-old Hmm

Kayano - your SIL sounds deranged, DO start an AIBU thread please? I feel like a nosy...Grin

18wks

Potol · 05/09/2011 15:23

Yep, I've been getting stretchy pains in my lower pelvis, especially on the right side. My sister who is a doctor said it was the uterus making some room. Unless the pain is continuous, causing you serious agony and/or is accompanied by bleeding you shouldn't worry (or so she said).

phlossie · 05/09/2011 16:03

Hello changing! I've had all sorts of aches and pains - and had stitch for about three days!

I have a fantastic relationship with my mum! I genuinely enjoy her company and she's thoughtful, supportive and brilliant with the children - she's just hands on enough without being too full-on. We're even thinking about buying a house jointly with my parents! So it is possible. I'm very lucky.

We got our 20 week scan date - Sept 20th. It'll be good to see baby again. Like someone said, I've had movements and then days without, and then I start to doubt that what I felt was actually movements... and then my bump looked really small today and I dreamt I was miscarrying. Silly pregnancy brain.

I'm knackered. Supposed to be thinking about dinner...

Xavielli · 05/09/2011 16:27

I forgot to buy pickled onions!! I think I might cry Sad

CoffeeOne · 05/09/2011 17:59

mmmm pickled onions.
Picked onion Nik Naks are my obsession at the moment!

melliebobs · 05/09/2011 18:42

Hey changing welcome. I'll join u with the stretchy stitch pain. I've had it on and off over the weekend mainly on the right side. But worst of all is when I sneeze. OWW major cramp/staby pain just under my bellybutton and my tummy goes reeeally tight.

Starting to get my appetite back thank god. Had cereal for breakfast, THE best bacon buttie for dinner and just put a pasta bake in the oven loaded with extra peppers, ham and salami. What can I say. Baby wants meat!

Kayano · 05/09/2011 18:43

I have my MIL making me a quiche for tea tomorrow and I am beyond excited. That's my crazy craving

I will also put vinegar on it so it seeps into the base....

Egg and vinegar.... Nice one x

melliebobs · 05/09/2011 18:44

Also coffee where do u get pickled onion Nik Naks?! I've eaten ALOT of the hot n spicy ones in the past few weeks but not seen their pickles counterparts for years!!!!! Also used to love the scampi and lemon ones but ah you can get scampi fries. Om nom nom!

Kayano · 05/09/2011 18:45

CoffeeOne · 05/09/2011 18:54

Mellie - you can only get them in the multi packs I think, mannn I love them so much! I also love the scampi and lemon ones but haven't seem them for ages :(

ZhenXiang · 05/09/2011 19:37

Hello ladies, can I join too.

Was due on 2nd March with DC2 (DD 2.3), but scan gave date as 27th Feb so 15 weeks today.

Ah scampi and lemon nik naks I love them and now I want some too mmmm

Is anyone else still knackered? With DD I got more energy when I hit the second trimester, but this time around I am constantly tired.

I want to be frisky and glowing too Envy
