Has the sickness abated?

Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Well, I've cracked open the maternity gear. We got it out the cellar a few weeks ago, but this week I realised that I couldn't put it off. Tried my jeans on last night and aaaaaahh! The comfort!

Were not supposed to eat liver because of the high vit a content. They forced our parents generation to eat lits of it then they ended up getting too much!

Tbh my personal attitude is all things in moderation.

Sickness is finally going here but I am still constantly knackard :(

Kayano sorry to butt in ( lurker!) but I thought you were not supposed to use ibuprofen when pregnant ...

CoffeeOne · 03/09/2011 13:36

Another spotty one here! ugh.

Sooth - I think maybe Ibuprofen gel is ok as you're not digesting it?

Hi all, how lovely that some of you have started feeling movement :-) I'm not expecting to feel anything for a good while yet as I'm only 14+5 so hoping to hear hearbeat at 16wk appt with GP on Monday week.
I decided to head to John Lewis last week to get measured and was astounded to discover I'd gone from B to an E cup!!!! (I actually thought initially that the measuring lady said 'A' but she corrected me hahahahahaha) DH has commented they were bigger and bras were certainly getting a lot tighter but hadn't realised the extent of 'enlargement' - they still look the same to me, just a bit rounder... oh well, as someone who's always been at the smaller end of the scale it's quite nice to have bigger jugs for a change ;-) Anyone any views on the underwire v nonwire debate? Does it really matter?
Beautiful weather here in suburban East London today, going to head out for a walk in Epping Forest with DH later... Enjoy the rest of your weekends :-)

PamBeesly · 03/09/2011 13:43

Gooseygirl I would also like to know have any others experience of the wired/non-wired bra situation. I get no support at all from non-wired, I've tried M&S and Debenhams Maternity bras but there is no support at all. I've gone up one size to an E. I've also tried really old-fashioned bra's but I find no support from them either, advice anyone? :)

Soothe - GP said taking ipuprofen tablets is dangerous but you can use the gel to rub on the back of your neck or head to relieve headaches x

mistressploppy · 03/09/2011 13:50

With the bra thing - I think as long as it fits really well and there's no pressure on actual breast tissue, underwired are ok. The thing is to avoid interfering with the growing and changing milk ducts. Or something.

EsmeWeatherwax · 03/09/2011 13:52

Gooseysgirl, Pam, underwired bras are ok afaik, as long as they are really properly fitted and the wires don't dig in anywhere. Maternity bras are dreadful, ime, never found a flattering one yet.

Kayano · 03/09/2011 14:58

Just getting onto the whole bra thing.

I'm a size 14 but my boobs were a 32G before I got pregnant!

It's awful, I am now wearing a 34 H maternity bra from debenhams and I've never been so sad about bras before!!!
They don't do nice H Bras at a nice price. Grrrr

PamBeesly · 03/09/2011 15:05

Thanks everyone, I'll just get a well fitted underwired one, the MW said nothing about it at my appointment and I wouldn't have known about different bras during pregnancy except I saw it on a thread on mumsnet

QueenFee · 03/09/2011 17:06

One word Hotmilk!
Their bras are amazing! I'm 32g and love them. I'll get a link...

I like the miriam stoppard ones at debenhams but they are still not a patch on hotmilk.
A good fitting bra should be supportive enough without the wires. The problem with wires is if they fall against a milk duct it can bruise it then gets infected and can lead to Mastitus. Its fairly rare as long as they are well fitting, but I have never needed the underwires as these are fab :)

melliebobs · 03/09/2011 20:45

well the Baby Show at GMEX was well worth it. (there's also one at the NEC and Earls Court later this year) Me and DH are now very skint!

Got a really good deal for a TotsBots nappies starter kit and now have a healthy supply ready for when baby gets here so we can decide which ones we prefer and top up with them. And BEST of all we got our bedroom furniture. www.tuttibambini.co.uk/room-sets/marie-walnut-7-piece-nursery-bundle-with-free-glider-chair-and-mattress We didn't pay near the price on the website and best of all when it's delivered someone will put it all together for us. Cos sod putting up a wardrobe!

YEY getting excited :)

I had a bra fitting today at mothercare - had gone up from 34B to 38C. I bought 2 maternity bras from there. Its such a relief not to have my tight underwired bras on. They're not that flattering - they don't push up and in like my normal bras - but they're so much more comfortable I don't care :-)

Soothe · 03/09/2011 21:06

Kayano - nice to know - hope you feeling better soon

I might as well announce myself as strictly I should be on this thread but am actually due 29th!! Am very old but after a few mmc am very happy to be here!

woowa · 03/09/2011 21:14

comfy clothes. I know it's nice to look fab, but it's more important to be comfy, no? Although I am starting to remember why i hate over the bump stretchy panels. Hot and annoying!

Been on feet LOTS today and now they kill. Must remember to rest them lots, I could barely walk last time by 8 months. Not easy with toddler! 9 people for lunch tomorrow, just jacket spuds, but still lots of prep, and tidying!

I gave up seeing a particular GP last time I was pg because she advised me to take ibuprofen for the sore feet... Oh, no, tell a lie, I did see her one more time and she gave me terrible advice about mastitis. Then i gave up. Yes, anyway, no ibuprofen, no aspirin, no lemsip (because of the decongestant in it). It's fun being pg in winter!!

Night all

QueenFee · 03/09/2011 21:17

Curry, Mothercare are terrible at measuring :( I hope they have measured you right.
Have you put a lot of weight on? It seems strange you have gone up so many back sizes?
Bravissimo, debenhams and john lewis usually are pretty accutate. I ask because apparently something like 70% women wear the wrong size bra!
Let me see if I can find a good vid to show how it should fit and that should help to see if they are right or not.

QueenFee · 03/09/2011 21:25

There are loads more there too.

Ok i'll go and shut up now

littlemonkeybix · 03/09/2011 23:30

Oh no... No asprin?! I've just been prescribed it by my consultant at the women's hospital FOR my pregnancy!?!

I thought it funny cos I'm asthmatic, and you aren't supposed to take asprin with asthma. He told me it was fine unless I have a reaction... And now I'm thinking it may be the cause of my palpitations Sad

Nowt like living the paranoia dream!!

Kayano · 04/09/2011 00:55

Soothe I'm so pleased for you! Let's hope 29th is lucky!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 04/09/2011 02:39

littlemonkeybix, the dose you'll have been prescribed in this instance is a lot lower than the standard headache dose. It's also well evidenced in pregnancy in certain situations, so please don't worry about it or stop taking it.

Also, it won't have caused your palpitations. Palpitations are very common in pregnancy and while very occasionally they can be due to an abnormal heart rhythm, they're mist commonly due to anaemia (generally later in pregnancy that we are now) and you just getting used to pumping twice as much blood as normal (the volume of your blood stream doubles in pregnancy so the baby gets enough, and and your heart has to work a bit faster and harder to deal with that). Pregnant women often seem to be more aware than usual of the normal extra beats we all get - I certainly am this time!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 04/09/2011 02:41

Oh, and about aspirin and asthma - some people who have asthma are very sensitive to aspirin (it causes an asthma attack), but many are not and it's certainly not a blanket thing that asthmatics do not get aspirin.

littlemonkeybix · 04/09/2011 09:30

Thanks wicket... I'm a complete flake about most things. How I'm still living is anyone's guess! You may recall my flipout about my tooth!!

Anyway, I had a palpitation free sleep/wake up which was nice!! So today's task is yummy treats for tea!

I didn't have the faggots in the end, I had a chop and DP had the faggots (smell was amazing!!) So tonights tea is ALL about ME!

I'm fancying chicken/chilli/lemongrass burgers/balls with a big fat salad... Already found my recipe, just getting myself together to go the shops!! Yummmm!

Also, left over applie and raisin pie which I whizzed together yesterday from our apple tree!! Yummmmmmm!

Hope you've all got lovely weather (like me! Yay!) And are having a good weekend xx Grin
