Well, are we?

Has the sickness abated?
Are our locks shiny and luscious?
Are our nails long and strong?
Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Welcome kayano and congrats Grin

Kayano · 01/09/2011 12:28

Thanks Grin

I'm terrified tbh
Youngest in my family and no experience with babies at all!!!
It's so expensive! Thank god for Christmas bonus lol

littlemonkeybix · 01/09/2011 12:32

ha! I'm in a similar state of nerves. I'm the baby in my family (31!!) and have ZERO baby experience.

1st baby and in a complete fluster about it. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing but this thread (and the net in general to be honest) has been my biggest source of help and sanity!

My biggest surprise was just how tired it makes you! I've felt drugged some days!!

Anyway, welcome, and keep us posted with all your shenanigans! Have you had your 12 week scan etc??!

It's a busy bus Grin

Kayano · 01/09/2011 12:40

Yes had the 12 week scan, dr and midwife disagreed on date. Doc thought I was due in March!
The scan proved midwife correct Grin

I'm 16 weeks +1 and didn't have any real sickness but am currently knackered all the time and getting headaches

DH referring to the baby as 'his boy' and annoying me no end, I'm hoping it's a girl
To spite him lol

littlemonkeybix · 01/09/2011 13:03

My GP said 27th Feb, MW 25th Feb, and scan said 5th March.... I've stuck on here as I've been here all along, so it would be rude to abandon the bus now Smile

I'm going to cross my legs or push, but I'm aiming for a leap day baby!! ha!

I've been keeping to my originally given dating, so 14+5 for now... I'm sure there's plenty of time to change that!

melliebobs · 01/09/2011 15:10

what a day at work. Got dragged into another office for a 'quiet word' with my boss. Turns out that one of my colleagues who was also pregnant and due 10 days before me lost her baby yesterday :( So sad

InnocentRedhead · 01/09/2011 16:35

Oh that is so sad melliebobs, I can't comprehend how she is feeling! Going to be hard on her seeing you at the same stage :(

There has being so much going on. On the blood group thing I am O-pos so no problems with that, no need for injections and the like. Only thing i will have to have is a rubella injection after birth as it turns out I am not immune :/ had all my MMRs, just means that I can't come into contact with it and baby won't be immune after birth.

Had my 16 week check today. (Which is where i found out about non-immunity) Lovely midwife, but the second stand-in I have seen!!! Heard the heartbeat, found straight away, really fast she said, but normal :) then it sounded like they kicked too. I was so nervous before too, scared that they wouldn't find a heartbeat

I am becoming more and more convinced by the day that I am having a girl :)

Welcome Kayano, I can;t believe people are still hopping on this bus! It is really full, thee must be some sort of mini baby boom going on!!!

Starting to feel like i am in the second trimester finally, starting to feel a lot better now. Hope you are all well :)

lilyrose123 · 01/09/2011 17:05

phlossie
reading back on the last few pages i followed your link for prediction........

The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the early evening. After a labor lasting approximately 12 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 14 pounds, 9 ounces, and will be 22 inches long. This child will have dark brown eyes and a lot of brown hair.

  1. I am NOT having a 14lb 9 ounce baby
  2. both me and DP have blue eyes and so can only have blue/green eyed children

however 12hours sounds ok LOL
hope you all ok?

have been off work sick with my hyperemesis
spent a good few days in bed, feel a little restored now....see how long that lasts LOL

am 16 weeks, getting few flutterings....I think
with DD didnt feel anything til about 22 weeks!
I think i am having a boy, Id love another girl for Lily rose to have a sister, cannot settle on boys names...........got loads of girls names......
i love arwen for a girl DP hates it LOL

louby86 · 01/09/2011 17:30

Hello everyone and welcome kayano

Had my 16 week app today. Risk factor was 1:26000 so ok with that and know I can still be the 'one'. Bit worried about my blood as one sheet said o pos then another said o something else, rhesus negative but she decided I was o pos and it had been transcribed onto the system wrong. Wouldn't listen to baby heartbeat either, they don't do it until after 20 week scan here anymore. Was a bit disappointed but I suppose I've got something to look forward to at my next appointment.

My little brother (22) asked my last night if I'd help him shop for an engagement ring for his gf because he didn't want to mess it up and get something horrible so that's taken my mind of obsessing over pregnancy for a little while. So excited for them both!

louby86 · 01/09/2011 17:31

mellie that's so sad for your colleague, poor lady Sad

QueenFee · 01/09/2011 20:07

Oh mellie a similar thing has happend at my sisters church. 2 sister in laws both expecting around the same time and one lost the baby a few weeks ago :( that must be hard. However the good news is she is just pg again.

Spots - yes lots everywhere and I normally have lovely skin

Louby aww how sweet of your bro! Top man :)

InnocentRedhead · 01/09/2011 20:32

Definitely agree on the spots! Never had them before PG, not got loads, but much more than ever before!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 01/09/2011 21:55

I felt the wee person this morning!Grin
Definitely a good bit earlier this time round - about 2 weeks earlier. Made the feeling-crappy a bit more bearable (pikes up my cyclizine this morning).

Kayano · 02/09/2011 08:49

I'm having to go to docs today as have now had a headache since we'd night. It's awful and yesterday had me in tears which only aggravated it

The midwife said paracetemol all day yesterday and if it continues today get to GP because I never suffer from headaches, it's just so new and bad!

I've called in work today as I work on pcs and phone all day. I'm only on mm as just waited to call GP, it's murder gettig seen.

Alas, I'm logging for the day

Sad
littlemonkeybix · 02/09/2011 09:33

hope you feel better soon Kayano

Quick Q to any foodies out there.... Offal, I know we're supposed to steer clear of iver etc due to vit A, but what about in faggots? It's only a little bit of the ingredients, so would it be ok to have one ot two with a plate of mash, veg and gravy??!

Kayano · 02/09/2011 16:26

7 day sick note and some ibuprofen gel for the back of my neck was the result if trip to the docs

So relieved she believed me

I've only had 1 sicknote in my life for mumps last year but last time I went the doc told me she would not give me a sicknote because I work in a male environment and it would be bad for my career!

Lol sorry had to vent about that... I was proper sick then too but sucked it up. Can't wait to try this gel, need some relief!

PamBeesly · 02/09/2011 18:06

littlemonkeybix Is there liver in faggots? If there is steer clear but if not I think they'd be ok, hope someone with expert knowledge will be along to tell you more.
Kayano good luck with the gel, I'm sure you know but for headaches fresh air and drinking plenty of water might help you, especially if you are in an office environment all day :)

pinkhollie · 02/09/2011 18:17

Kayano I've been getting really bad tension headaches too. I can actually feel the muscles in my shoulders and neck pulling all the way over my skull -nice!

My yoga class on wed really helped and I'm lucky enough to have a DH who is trained in massage. But it's useful to know about the ibuprofen gel too.

melliebobs · 02/09/2011 19:17

hey guys, phlossie LOVE that pregnancy and baby predictor thing. Freaked DH right out!

Shiny weather in the middle of the night - Well in Feb looks like Jack Frost has been and the moon will be reflecting off the ice making it shiny

13 hour labour - I'd like it shorter but that sounds plausable

9lb1oz boy 22 inch - Again i know you never know but i was an 8lb baby, dh was 10 and hes 6ft2 now so were expecting a big one!

Blue/green eyes and lots of auburn hair! - AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH Dh has really bright blue eyes, i have grey/blue/green so the eyes thing we believe. And auburn hair. I know it sounds awefull but i really don't want a ginger kid, which is in dh side and he's really fair, but after reading some people saying their prediction said 'lots of RED hair'. I'll settle with auburn. LOL

oh and i can't remember who it was but the name Adam. DH thinks you should go with it as it's an amazing name as that's what he's called. He has also decided if we have a boy it will be called Adam2. If it's a girl, Adamina! I dispare :)

Anyone going to the national baby show? It's at GMEX in Manchester this weekend and DH has got us tickets. Kind of looking forward to it. Just remember going to the wedding fair there 2 year ago and it being full of mental brides to be. I'm thinking with a load of pregnant ladies it will be a completely different pace!

phlossie · 02/09/2011 19:52

My DH is an Adam too, mellie. Love the ego on yours! Hilarious Grin

I've been get lots of headaches too that start at the back of my nexk - definitely tension headaches. Envy that your DH does massage, pinkhollie. I bought a massage bar from Lush as a hint that my DH is yet to latch on to. Rubbish. I'm planning on starting yoga again too - I loved it last time.

pinkhollie · 02/09/2011 20:06

Don't be too jealous phlossie he's out doing a sports massage now so when I ask for a neck massage when he gets home I'll get the 5 min version Sad

mistressploppy · 02/09/2011 20:55

Hi everyone! I've been neglecting the thread, sorry.....

Is everyone feeling movement? I haven't felt anything yet and it's bothering me a bit. I can't remember when I felt DS1....

louby86 · 02/09/2011 21:49

Oooo phlossie which massage bar did you get? I got bought one for my birthday, DH is begrudgingly using it on me as I've insisted that for me to not get stretch marks at all I need to have it rubbed on my back as well as my stomach Grin Don't think he is actually buying it for one minute but he's going along with it to keep me happy. They are supposed to be amazing for stretch marks, it's lightened some of the acne scars on my arms too!

woowa · 02/09/2011 22:06

On faggots. I'm not an expert at all, but the generation before us were told to eats lots of liver to build themselves up, so i can't imagine it's that bad if we were all brought up on it!! If it's only a little bit, i'm sure it'll be fine. Having said that, although i LOVE liver, the thought of eating it at the moment is BLURGH. I once did a recipe for liver stir fry with ginger and it was the foulest thing i've ever eaten (one mouthful and in the bin). Being pg and thinking of liver makes me think of it rather than yummy liver and bacon with onion gravy.

I remembered now what is worse than not having felt baby move yet. It's having felt it move, but not for a couple of days (or hours!). Always makes me worry something is wrong. When pg with DD in the later stages I'd drink coffee just to make it move so that I was reassured she was still alive. I don't think i'm above doing that again!

So tired this evening, hoping for a full night sleep.

Sugar80 · 03/09/2011 08:10

Yep, our mums were told to eat liver when pregnant to keep their iron levels up.

No movement here, but I'm not expecting any for another few weeks at least. After a week and a half's break I've just been violently sick :( Still really tired to, although I've been crazily busy at work this week which won't have helped. My body clearly hasn't realised that we're now in the second trimester, despite my ever-expanding tum!!
