Has the sickness abated?
Are our locks shiny and luscious?
Are our nails long and strong?
Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Hello all mummies. I am now 14 weeks pregnant and cannot wait for my nhs scan next week! I already have a 15 months old son and the thought of looking after two children under 2 terrifies me! How will I cope?! I seem to be feeling much sicker and more tired this time around - all I want to do is to lie down, sleep and eat pickles and cucumbers! We are hoping for a girl this time around - will they be able to tell at 15 weeks? Cannot believe second time around my first scan is only at 15 wks plus I've not even been to see the midwife yet! Anybody else had their scans done at Western Infirmary? I went to Princess Royal with my first for scans and labour.

littlemonkeybix · 22/08/2011 10:53

Morning folks.

Food aversions... Beef is too beefy! That's been my only thing really... which is a bit disappointing!

Update on Toothgate.. I am on the emergency list for this afternoon... got to go and sit in the waiting room from 2pm and wait... and wait...

Hope we are all well... I feel quite perky this morning - I assume the tiredness will kick in again soon though. Spent nearly all weekend asleep, maybe tht's why the perky nature of today!! Grin

EsmeWeatherwax · 22/08/2011 10:58

allansmummy is that in Glasgow? Ate they still only doing one scan? I can sympathise with the pickles, yesterday I ate a bottle of pickled onions and then drank the vinegar! Disgusting, but sooooo good!

lifeissweet you know you don't have to come off ad's during pregnancy, I'm still taking them, although admittedly a very low dose.

Food aversions, too many to mention, I can't stand cooking just now, everything just gives me the Boak! Except pickled onions and jalapenos apparently.

Xavielli · 22/08/2011 11:17

Goosey I'm not sure how it is for other areas but I've always had to phone the midwife about two weeks in advance for an appointment to keep to schedule. In my notes the is a list of appointments you are supposed to go for, might be worth having a look Smile

I've got my 16 week app this afternoon so will let you all know if they listen in to baby. If I remember correctly have more bloods done at 16 weeks don't we? Shudder. I don't mind needles (have 11 piercings!) but I like the idea of my blood staying inside Thankyou very much! Hehe

AllansMummy DS2 will be 15 months when this little on arrives, same as between DS1 and DD. I promise you two under 2 can be ALOT of fun! They amuse each other so the vast majority of the entertaining that you do for your DS now will be done by him for DC2. It is hard work in the early weeks with double nappies etc but it soon passes! Ive loved it, I'll let you know what it's like with the second set lol.

I'll definitely be finding out the sex with this one. I have known with all of mine, DP doesn't want to know but I found out with DS2 and managed to keep it from him and stash all the blue stuff in bin liners!!

Xavielli · 22/08/2011 11:24

Im also still taking AD's (sertraline) for PND. I only take a small dose but enough to keep me on a level - as much as I can be whilst pg!- and to keep the withdrawal side effects at bay. I respect your decision to stop but don't be afraid to go back to them if you start feeling too low.

littlemonkeybix · 22/08/2011 11:53

Am I being too fretful again ("yes, I am" is the answer, but humour me please!)?

When I went for my 1st midwife appointment, she never gave me my pregnancy pack (the pregnancy book and another pack of "stuff") just my notes because they "ran out". This is my first PG, and I am totally winging it. I'm now 13 +2 or 12 +2 depending whether paper dates or scan measurement date. I have a clinic appointment on Friday, what do I do if they still dont have any?! Have I missed out on vital information about my nutrition?! And isnt ther vouchers for stuff??!!

I was given calcium tablets with my folica acid, and they're both running out. I know the folic acid can stop... but what about the calcium... do these continue??!!

Everything is getting under my skin at the minute... everything! Plus I feel quite stupid. Blush

InnocentRedhead · 22/08/2011 12:02

littlemonkey - do keep calling your midwife to see if she has the pack in yet... Hopefully, you can annoy her sufficiently enough for her to get hold of it for you. No i am joking, just call the doctors surgery your midwife is based at, and then ask at 16week appt. Hope you get the tooth sorted!!!

Felt baby move last night for the first time :) thought it was too early but i am very body aware! (THINK i am 15 weeks - not keeping track so much now - i just know my due date 14/2) but no, it was definitely baby. Felt like tadpoles and little fish swimming around just behind and lower down than my belly button!! It was amazing, and my DP put his head to my belly and he could hear what he thought was the movement too!! It was an amazing moment! How many of you have felt movement so far?

Got my 16 week appt on the 1/9 and anomaly scan on 30/9 - I don't want to find out the gender, but my DP does - we have come to the agreement that we won't find out though. Want a boy, but got a feeling it's a girl! - Well at the moment i am carrying all front (got a fair bump already - indicates boy) But i have got an amazingly sweet tooth now (indicates girl) I know these are old wives tales but still fun to guess!!

AllansMummy · 22/08/2011 12:06

EsmeWeatherwax - yeah in Glasgow. I hope there will be two scans - otherwise I am going to do them privately at babybond (did the 4D scans there with the first one and it was amazing). Yummy, yum yum - pickled onions - mental note to myself - go to Tescos on the way from work/nursery to buy a jar or two!!

Xavielli - so'll have 4 in total! That is amazing, seriously. You should teach me some tricks how you managed to keep yourself organized and the kids well behaved and entertained! The other day my son saw a woman passing by, pointed his finger and shouted - COW! That's one of the words he can say now and really likes his cow cup and pictures of cows, ducks, dogs, cats etc. I was very embarassed... :))

Thank God the midwife and the scan are at the same place and the same time - otherwise I would have not been happy having waited so long already..

Xavielli · 22/08/2011 12:23

Littlemonkeybix- not stupid at all! Don't worry yourself though, all the information contained in the birth-5 book you get from the doctor can be found on here. I would assume the calcium is for you, to save all your teeth from fallIng out whilst building a little skeleton! I was recommended to take a preg multivitamin as it contains all the good stuff Grin so doing that might put your mind at rest. As for the bounty bag, all the best bits come in the one you get at birth! Hehe

littlemonkeybix · 22/08/2011 16:15

OK... so it's over for now!! Went the dentist, had to have the inside side piece of my tooth removed. It had come off, but was still attached to the gum.... he had to really tug at it!

I cried after he'd injecetd me, but I did explain that he'd got of lightly as it was a samll blub, but Friday's was a wail! He was good though.

It was a really bad break he said. I knew it was. So for now, a temp filling beyond the gum line. I'll have to go back after baba has arrived for a real filling Sad but at least my head hasnt fallen off!!

Time for a nap methinks!!

CoffeeOne · 22/08/2011 17:20

Lifeissweet oh I know the feeling! Coffee makes me so sick right now, it used to be my best friend! I hope you get that special birth moment this time :)

Gooseysgirl I think you're supposed to have a 16 week appointment. I got told mine at my 12 week scan as it's with a consultant as my bmi is 30 (just! annoying). It can't hurt to give them a call and check.

littlemonkeybix poor you I hate dentists :( keep asking about the bounty pack and book, it's mostly advertising but you get a voucher for some free samples and a voucher for a pack of huggies newborn nappies so worth getting if you're an excited first timer like me!

14+2

clarinsgirl · 22/08/2011 17:37

Just thought I'd add my back story. I'm 38, already have DS(6), been married to DH for 2.5 years but been together for 18 years. I run a management consultancy and training company, grow veggies, practice yoga and am a bit of a gym addict. 16 weeks today!

Xavielli · 22/08/2011 17:37

Midwife was lovely today, managed to get one I'd never met before (no mean feat when you're on number4!) and turns out she is the head of the outfit and is covering community until a new mw arrives.

She checked wee, bp and discussed blood results. Then she said let's have a listen into baby, I know that's all you've come for Grin . Was so lovely, couldn't hear the heartbeat at my scan so was the first time I've heard this bean. And the tribe came with me so were very excited and have started to believe there is something in there.

louby86 · 22/08/2011 19:32

Aww that's exciting Xavielli

monkey I didn't get my bounty pack from the midwife, I got mine at the hospital when I went for my scan, keep asking though. I rang my surgery because I thought I was missing some information because on the checklist on my hospital notes the midwife had written "received in last pregnancy, no need this time". This is my first baby, unless I've got a really bad problem with my memory Grin

woowa · 22/08/2011 20:06

I guess second timers don't get the bounty pack then? I think i binned everything apart from the free nappies! Everyone i've canvassed has said don't bother with sudocrem, use metanium, so i even binned the sudocrem taster! And i would add that metanium nappy cream is awesome, even though it contains not one single natural thing!!

Still worrying about presence of this baby. Even the bump seems less pronounced today :( Am hoping hoping hoping MW will try to have a listen tomorrow, even if it means I get sent off for a scan if she can't hear anything. I'll let you know. Mustn't forget to take some wee this time, always forget and have to squeeze it out at surgery.

Speed awareness training was excellent today, full of people trying to excuse their speeding :) I recommend it if you are ever caught by the police, you can do it instead of getting points on license.

Didn't sleep the night through again last night and was on my knees by DD's bathtime. This can't last much longer! I'm going to keel over!

16 weeks ish

woowa · 22/08/2011 20:10

louby86, there's no way you'd forget having had a baby before!

louby86 · 22/08/2011 20:51

woowa hope you have a lovely time listening to baby's heartbeat tomorrow! I'm sure everything will be lovely and fine. My mum seems to think you get a different bounty pack if it's not your first, she is going back a long time though Wink.

Oh, and I've had a look through all my cupboards and under my bed, definitely no neglected small child hiding there Grin

claricestar · 22/08/2011 21:05

quite a few 16 week midwife appointments coming up. I don't have one until 21 weeks, the week after my 20 week scan. There is a midwife drop in clinic that I can attend if I have any worries in the meantime though...and it's conveniently held at the children's centre at the back of my house!

Lifeissweet · 22/08/2011 22:31

Woowa, good luck tomorrow. I felt less than pregnant when I went last week too. My symptoms seemed to have gone, I'm not very 'bumpy' yet and I hadn't felt any movements, so I was half expecting bad news.

Then I heard it, though, and it made me laugh with delight and surprise. Since then I've been feeling it all the time and feel pregnant again. I really hope it's the same for you. In the meantime, I hope you get some rest.

Clarice - my midwife just listed all the weeks I should be seen in the back of my green notes. She's left it up to me to make sure I get seen - so if the hospital don't want to see me (I'm under consultant care, so they see me quite a lot) I have to make an appointment at the clinic myself. Where do you live that you aren't seen until 21 weeks?

Sugar80 · 23/08/2011 10:33

Urgh, feel rubbish. Came into work, but I'm really tired and useless. Also getting period type aches which I'm not too sure about...

13+2

louby86 · 23/08/2011 11:39

Sugar80 hope you're feeling better soon! Maybe you've been overdoing it a bit? Rest up and take it easy

woowa let us know how your appointment goes!

Hope everyone else is ok! I've been buying stuff for baby (again), going to have to stop soon though before I develop an addiction!

PamBeesly · 23/08/2011 14:12

Hi everyone,

Can I ask you all, did you experience any brown blood (in discharge) sorry if TMI around 13-14 weeks? I've had a little the past two days in the afternoon, nothing huge but enough for me to be a bit :( I don't have any cramping just a bit of mild discomfort on and off. The midwife at my first appointment told me if there is more than a teaspoon ring the EPU but I don't think this amounts to a teaspoon. Just thought I'd ask, if its common at this time.

EsmeWeatherwax · 23/08/2011 14:29

Pam, I remember getting brownish discharge with all three, can't remember exactly when though, somewhere around 10-13 weeks or so. Think its quite common.

PamBeesly · 23/08/2011 14:35

Thanls Esme I am not too panicky about it because I don't have pain and its only a little amount.

littlemonkeybix · 23/08/2011 14:45

Hi folks, I'm aiming for a good news bulletin today!

Babybook and bounty pack... I've been to the hosp midwife, and hosp antenatal scan, and that's where there was no book given. I have a clinic appointment with my consultant on friday, so I'll ask there. If no joy, I have a community MW appointment in Sept in my local GP. One of them will have one for me.

I got my letter through for my 20week scan.... it's on my birthday!! I am hoping for a nice wave and a good pose for the pics! not much to ask for for my pressy is it Grin

Also got a "low risk" letter for the downs testing. No ratio but just stated "low" so I am happy with that.

ALSO - a pal of mine from waaaaay back has been in touch after she saw my scan pics on face book.... she had her scan on the same day! PLUS we're due within a few days of each other... so going to have to meet up to compare bumps! It's her DC2, my DC1 so she can help me Wink

I hope we are all feeling chipper today. Hope it's a one off for you Pam with your discharge. Thinking of you all xx
