Has the sickness abated?
Are our locks shiny and luscious?
Are our nails long and strong?
Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

lily sorry to hear you've had a bad spell.
monkey I've had the dizzies too - I had to go home from work the other day as I was completely unable to function.
m1nn1e lovely that you are having boy. We aren't going to find out this time.

My story - I am 31, living in Ireland. I'v been with DH for almost 10 years and married for . Have one DD - who is one a week today. We also have 3 dogs and 3 cats so are kept busy enough already. Grin

I am really nosy so love seeing everyone's story. Grin

rnbsmum · 19/08/2011 21:36

I agree with regards to not divulging names. Everyone has an opinion but are far less likely to voice negative ones once the baby is actually there!

Hope all those suffering come out of the sickness stage soon.

I seem to be the gnarly old bird here! I'm 39 and have been married to DH for 13 years and have DD 7, born Oct 03 and DS 4, born Oct 06. This baby is a happy bolt out of the blue but life can sometimes be too planned can't it?! DH and I are both secondary school teachers and live in Dorset.

EsmeWeatherwax · 19/08/2011 22:34

Congrats Minnie, you've got me looking at gender scans now!

Baby Carmen, glad there's at least one other Scot on here!

Here's me...
I'm 39, have dd1 (4) and dd2 (2) been with dh for 10 years, married for 7. Live in a teeny wee house in a teeny wee village in the west of Scotland, I'm very tall, and dh is even taller. I'm a librarian by profession, SAHM currently as was made redundant (voluntary) not long after dd2 was born. Love the heavy metal, my fabby Kindle, and one of the two big Glasgow football teams, whilst dh supports the other. Great fun on matchdays!

flapjack77 · 19/08/2011 22:57

Evening ladies.

Had my 16 wk MW app today, was not very exciting, she just checked my bp and urine, asked if I was feeling ok and that was it! I've been getting pins and needles in my left thigh when I lie down or stand for too long, she said it was prob bump resting on a nerve and to see my GP if it gets any worse.

Not telling anyone what names we're thinking of, didn't with DS either!

Anyway, I'm 34, with DH for over 6 years, married for nearly 3. DS is 18mo, I work part time in a not very exciting job (but at least its a job!). We live in north Lincs and hope to buy our first house before this baby arrives.

lily sorry to hear you're not having too much fun at the moment.

m1nn1e ooooh finding out must be really exciting - we're not sure if we're going to or not yet...

monkey I feel your dental fear! Fingers and toes crossed and brave it out - you know you'll feel better afterwards :)

About me... I'm 35, live in Worcestershire, work for civil service, been with DH 8 years and married for 2. Scaredy first timer! Not particularly interesting, I'm afraid!

Hope everyone's well - I had 12 wk GP appointment this week (at 13+6 oops forgot) and anomaly scan is booked for 11 October...but consultant appointment before then.

14+1 (apparently - through the miracle of immaculate conception...heheheh)

hermionejgranger · 20/08/2011 09:00

ooooh just had to post in a moment of selfish "relief" (not sure what the right word is here...?) - have just had letter re: combined test results and have a 1:66000 risk estimate :)

Rollersara · 20/08/2011 09:24

monkey, know exactly how you feel, am completely phobic of dentists!

Am 15 weeks exactly today! Otherwise about me, I'm 36, live in Oxfordshire (hello Xavielli!), been here with my OH five years, also in civil service and also scaredy first timer!

claricestar · 20/08/2011 13:56

OddEyes · 20/08/2011 23:22

Evening folks! Having a brief catch up, trying to remind myself that I am pregnant!

Husband still ill and kids still on summer holidays, I surviving, just!

Have low blood pressure and get fainty. No easy fix but keep fluids up and eat lots of electrolyte rich foods.

Names, don't tell people that matter. My parents in law vetoed my favourite name last time. They not finding out this time, randoms can know as I like folks feed back but as long as they far enough removed.

Me: lived in London since coming down from North west for uni. Married for 8 years. Ds is 4.5 and starting school in September. Dd is 2.5 and starting nursery in September. I am 33, a secondary teacher and starting back to work after 2.5 yr break in a new school in September! This is 4th pregnancy and a huge surprise.

~ 14wks, lost count once sickness left.

CoffeeOne · 21/08/2011 07:59

hermione good news on the low risk results!

I'm full of a cold and have been awake since 6am (suppose I'd better get used to that!) I don't think there's anything I can take so feeling a bit sorry for myself

Morning. My blood pressure's a bit on the low side and I've had the odd moment of light headedness - was a a party last night and had been standing up for hours when I had to make my excuses and sit down quickly!!

About me... 31, live in the sticks with dogs, chickens, horse and DP of 13 years. First baby after years of saying I'm not having any, so I'm utterly clueless! Work in Bristol doing the corporate thing full time.

babycarmen · 21/08/2011 12:32

Feeling baby a lot more now its great, actually felt it kick my hand last night for the first time but DP wasnt here to share the moment :( I told DD baby was kicking and she started shouting at my belly telling it off...

Keep getting waves of sickness, not nausea but like im actually going to spew, been SO close a couple of times, had to hold my breath :/

Im worried im not eating enough, i know youre not actually supposed to 'eat for 2' but im eating less then before i got pregnant, just no appetite :/

Lifeissweet · 21/08/2011 15:57

Hi all.
I've been rubbish, I'm afraid. I had my stats added to the original thread as soon as I was first pg, but haven't been back since, so I'm just catching up with you all again now.

You all sound as though you're all settled and married. My little family is going to be really complicated in comparison!

I was married to father of DS1 for 4 years, but we split up 3 years ago. DS1 is now 6. My DP and I have only been together since October and I managed to get pg even though I was on the pill (apparently this is not unheard of, although I had been convinced there was no chance) so this little one is turning my whole life upside down already! DP has another 'accidental' DS from a previous relationship, who is 2. So I'm going from a happy little family of two - just me and DS - to a family of 5 nearly overnight. We will have 4 surnames between the 5 of us.

I was suffering from depression before this happened and was quite highly medicated, but I came off the drugs when I found out about this baby, so I'm struggling a bit with it all. I had lost a lot of weight and was finally happy with myself after years of hating my body and I'm struggling with getting bigger, I'm worried about my house being too small and my relationship being too new and the fact that I nearly died having my very prem, deaf first DS and no one can tell me the same thing won't happen again (although they are keeping an eye on me). Basically, things aren't great. The good thing is that all is well with this one so far, so I do have to count my blessings.

I hope you are all coping well and that the sickness is abating. I must be one of the farthest ahead on this thread now that I have been dated and have an EDD of 2nd Feb. I, thankfully, stopped throwing up so much a couple of weeks ago and feel so much better, although my hormones are still all over the place and I'm crying a lot of the time. Ah well. The joys of babymaking eh?

woowa · 21/08/2011 19:55

Lifeissweet, I'm not surprised you're crying all the time, not just hormones but the worry, and coming off anti-depressants can't help. I think the things you are worrying about would worry anyone though (house, relationship, having a premature baby again), espeically when it's all been such a shock (your DP must have very strong sperm). Is there anything that you can change about the house? Regarding the relationship, work as hard as you can on it now, because you know that babies do put a strain on. GOod that the docs are keeping a closer eye on you. That should help a little. I like being seen more often than normal pregnancies, helps keep my mind at rest.

coffeeone you can take paracetamol when you've got a cold. Helps with the head and the bunging up, i think. When I had a cough last pg the pharmacist told me to eat a spoonful of runny honey from time to time, and it helped just as much as any cough mixture for the coughing side of the cold.

Last time i was pg i worried about not feeling baby move for ages, and i'm in that place again. I'm 16 or 17 weeks this week (dpending on who wins the battle) and i know that as it's baby two i should be starting to feel it soon. Hoping MW will listen for heartbeat on tuesday but last pg they wouldn't this early. So i might just have to wait for scan to make sure all is well.

We grow veges, specifically courgettes, beans and tomatoes. I am starting to feel sick just looking at them. Anyone else got any food aversions? The thought of eating veg at meals is worse than actually eating them! Thinl im just sick of cooking tbh!

Got my speed awareness course tomorrow - 4 hours, hope they have half time biscuits otherwise I'll pass out!

notcitrus · 21/08/2011 20:24

Wow you lot are chatty!
I'm back to work tomorrow after being signed off for 3 weeks with dizziness and falling asleep all the time, but working from home - so tell me off if you see me posting between 9 and 5!
I'm incredibly demotivated at the mo so it's going to be really tedious despite my lovely colleagues.
SPD has died down, luckily, thanks to weekly physio.

14 weeks today. Ds is 3 soon and today refused to have his nap for almost the first time. Given that he's been having over 2-hour naps every day he's not at nursery, which means I can nap, I was not impressed. I really hope he continues to nap at least for a while!

Lifeissweet · 21/08/2011 20:32

Thanks, Woowa. I think it'll be ok. It's just all a bit much at the moment. We'll find a way to make it work. The house will be ok to start with, I think. It's only 2 beds, but I have a front living room which can be a temporary bedroom for a while when the little one is ready to move into their own room. The other two boys aren't with us all the time. DP's DS is only going to be with us for a couple of nights a week (his mother permitting - but that's another hurdle to overcome) and I have a shared custody arrangement with my ex, so I have my DS for half of each week and every other weekend.

In the long run we can convert the loft, but that will have to wait a while.

My initial reaction when I found out was that I couldn't have the baby - that it's just impossible, but I couldn't go through with a termination. It's not that I'm against it, but I just (irrationally probably) couldn't face it. I always wanted more children, but assumed I never would after the last time. I want the baby, so I'll just have to make the rest of it work somehow.

Good luck with your speed awareness course. I'm sure it'll be fascinating! Better 4 hours of boredom than points though.

I've never heard of a veg aversion. Last time I had a processed food aversion and couldn't scrape leftovers into the bin without puking. I haven't had any aversions this time.

Also, I went to the midwife on Thursday at 16+1 and they listened for the heartbeat and it was loud and clear, so ask on Tuesday and they'll probably do it for you. It's weird, but I hadn't felt any movements before that, but now I can feel all sorts of wriggling. He/She's quite squirmy! Are you going to find out the sex?

Lifeissweet · 21/08/2011 20:36

notcitrus - you're brave. I am full of admiration for people with a toddler and a baby on the way. I don't know how you cope. I'd be exhausted. I am enough as it is!

Good luck with working from home too - I think I'd be crap at that. I get distracted far too easily.

notcitrus · 21/08/2011 21:28

lifeis - thank fuck for CBeebies!
And nursery. :)

Being practically 3, he's starting to have some sense and at least general understanding of stuff, can go upstairs and downstairs to fetch things (sometimes even what I ask for...) and can be trusted not to trash the lounge and eat his breakfast while I grab a bit more kip!

A year ago would have been much tougher. My job was a lot less amenable to working from home, for starters, and A was running everywhere destroying the house every half hour.

babycarmen · 21/08/2011 21:32

woowa every single food right now is disgusting to me, its a mission to eat anything! Hopefully wont last long, i have 0 energy :( although i am forcing a bit of food down.

notcitrus my DD stopped napping when she was 1. :( Shes nearly 4 now and i miss those days so much! Especially when i feel like this.

Lifeissweet Im sorry youre having a rubbish time :( I was in a crappy situation when i got pregnant with DD (new relationship, no house, no money, health issues etc) but it all worked out good, just took time and effort, im sure everything will be ok, have you got friends/family around for support?

woowa · 21/08/2011 22:53

lifeissweet, i will ask about the heartbeat, thanks. MW last pg told me they weren't allowed to try at 16 weeks as it was common not to hear it and it panicked the mums. I see their point but i feel just as crap not knowing if all's well anyway. And not going to find out the sex, I loved the traditional "it's a...." moment, even thought DH couldn't tell (!) and i heard MW whispering it to him that it was a DD! (i was on all fours, so she came out behind me, iyswim)

I feel like puking when I scrape leftovers in the bin, but that's mostly because i don't empty it frequently enough and it reeks!! A friends put it out the other day as I couldn't go near it. GRIM. Life falls apart a bit when pg! Lawn is almost up to DD's knees, poor child. I must do it soon...

I'm really hoping to sleep well tonight, so sick of lying awake...

Night all!

about 16 weeks!

phlossie · 22/08/2011 08:59

Hello all! I have an aversion to meat and fish. I absolutely cannot stand the taste/smell of it in any form. I'd been away for the weekend, and DH had bought a chicken pie for tea. I ate the chips and peas and a bit of pastry. I'm taking vitamins and fish oils to make up for it.

The sickness and tiredness is going on longer than either of my other two. I don't feel nauseous like I'm going to puke anymore, and my eating is more normal, but I feel so wiped out and faintly sick most of the time. Maybe it's having two DCs to look after instead of one...

notcitrus my DS gave up his naps at 2 - just after I'd got 5 mo DD to nap at the same time! It really knocked me for six, but I used to put on Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs so we could both chill out for an hour or so.

I'm feeling the baby move! So exciting. I thought I'd felt it before, but it could have been wind, but then on Saturday night I felt very definite kicks! Such a good feeling. Have MW appointment tomorrow. Hope I'll hear the heartbeat.

CoffeeOne · 22/08/2011 09:11

woowa thanks I've started taking a low dose a paracetamol and it's really helped. Off work sick though, I always feel terribly guily but I just can't face work feeling as exhausted and full of a cold and nauseous as I feel!

Fingers crossed they'll let you hear the heart beat! I haven't felt anything yet and as it's my 1st I've no idea if I'll even realise when it happens!

notcitrus Also extremely demotivated here! I can't imagine how hard the next 6 months at work will be if I'm feeling like this now! I just want to stay at home and knit and decorate and bake cakes Grin. 5 day working weeks are just killing me mentally and physically.

I'm so so excited to find out the sex. I'm considering an early private gender scan, anyone think they're worth it or shall I just wait it out?

14+2

Lifeissweet · 22/08/2011 10:33

Good morning, Coffee.

Excuse me if I have an aversion to your name - I drank some this morning and have thrown up my breakfast. I haven't been sick for weeks, so I'm a bit fed up about it!

Don't feel guilty about being off work. It's pointless being there if you're too sick. Anyone who's had a tough pregnancy will understand. I had a couple of days off because I'm a primary teacher and I couldn't keep running out of class to be sick and leave 30 nine year olds on their own, so I was much better off at home - and the class were better off too.

I don't think I'm going to find out the sex of this one. I didn't with my DS either. Pregnancy is one long test of patience, but I think there is nothing quite as special as the moment when the baby arrives and you have the 'it's a...' moment.

It didn't really work that way with DS because they were too busy hooking up to ventilators and getting him into the incubator and they forgot to tell me. I didn't find out for about 10 minutes! I'm hoping it will be different this time.

Gooseysgirl · 22/08/2011 10:47

Morning all, we are DYING to find out the gender of the baby... hoping that he/she cooperates and we find out at the anomoly scan in October!

Does everyone get a mid-wife appointment at 16 weeks? There was no mention of this at my booking in appointment so just wondering will I receive an appointment through the post... If not I suppose I'll go to GP for a BP and urine check-up at some point in the next few weeks anyway...

My story... 35 year old first-timer, been with DH over 3 years and married since the spring. Started TTC straight after wedding and we're feeling incredibly lucky to have conceived so quickly! First grandchild on both sides so great excitement all round. I'm a teacher working in central London, unfortunately due to the nature of my job I could be made redundant in Sept 2012, but as I only planned on taking 26 weeks mat leave anyway the timing is just about working out right for us :) I will look for a new job if needs be and DH seriously considering taking the Additional Paternity Leave (isn't it great that we now have the option of doing this!) for a few months after I go back to work.. well that's the plan at the moment anyway, we'll see what happens in the end!!!!!!!
