Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

Congrats paps, great birth story! Well done Thomcat for starting your maternity leave, and you're brave for even thinking of visiting Ikea, especially as I assume it's the one at Croyden? Good hotdogs and meatballs though
Another awful day here, overcast and raining (not even going to check the temperature in Brisbane, where my dad is.....) so dd and I are staying indoors and I'm going to finish off a few things around here. Last night went to visit my friend who had a baby girl on Tuesday night - baby Kiana is gorgeous and her mum says she's tired but looks ok so far. Going to pop around there this afternoon as well, as her dh is back at work today, so my dd can amuse her 18mth old ds and give her some peace for 5min..... dh and I were having trouble though reconciling that there is a baby Kiana's size inside me, that could appear at anytime
And dh has started his new job today, so we're both very happy about that. Going to a local cheap and cheerful and childfriendly pub for dinner tonight to celebrate
I'm like you sh, also want to be able to attend dd's Xmas play next Friday, as dh won't be able to now he's working. Otherwise no other plans for next week, have got all my appts out of the way this week, which is a relief.
Hope everyone has a lovely Friday and good luck for today Mouseman

Morning all!

Paps - congrats on your lovely new baby!

TC - So chuffed for you being on mat leave - it feels so fab doesn't it!

Scully - weather here is terrible too, so dark and dismal. Mind you we're quite close aren't we so we're probably under the same rain cloud.

Well, I'm sat here having pineapple for breakfast. I had a few twinges last night and I've had a few this morning so I'll be trying all the old remedies this weekend to kick off my labour.

I'm just about to have a bath and shave my legs (which have been somewhat neglected of late ) just encase something does happen. I'd be really embarressed if I went into hospital looking like a bloke

So whats everyone else up to today, anything good?

Mouseman - hoping to hear a fab birth story from you soon - GOOD LUCK!!!!

pineapple for breakfast sh
have thought about the shaving issue, just a bit hard to see anything anymore
sun is trying to break through now, still can't see me getting out of my tracksuit and going anywhere though
dd has been very clingy this week, maybe she knows something is close....or maybe it's just the novelty of having me home....

Congratulations Paps, lovely to see another Dec lady has popped!

Good luck today Mouseman. Things really are happening now aren't they!!

Sorry you had a rubbish night BG. I find between 2 and 4 a tricky time to stay asleep but stayed in bed tossing & turning last night. Terrible leg pains last night. They both were in agony, not cramp just feeling dead but painful.

Welcome to the thread Ururupuin. LOL at the fact you think we seem human, not sure many people would agree with you at the moment! I certainly don't look human, beach ball yes, human no!

To add to the gushing comments, I'd like to add my thanks to everyone for being so supportive throughout my 9 months of whinging. I think myself very lucky to have had the support of all the Dec ladies through this terribly scary time and of course my lovely beanie pals, heres to a better January than last year

So this is it, my last day at work and on MN!!

Its my anniversary today too and DP sent me a massive bouquet of flowers to work which are sitting pretty on my EMPTY desk!!! YAY

Huge congratulations to paps on your little one!! I had a midwife appointment yesterday and am 2/5ths engaged so am wishing this baby to turn up before christmas!

Feeling very emotional today as it was announced that we will all be losing our jobs within the next 6 months so its a real goodbye in this office today Just know that I am going to end up crying at the end of the day.

I really will do my best to get on line as soon as possible. If not I will get my DP to log on and let you all know and get him to keep me updated with the progress of you guys

kangel have a fab last day and anniversary. we'll miss you!
ugh to those that cant sleep......me either, went to bed at 2am! and feel quite rough this morning. on a plus side I get to chat more with my american friend as seem to be keepig her hours!!
am sitting in waiting for dd2s christmas gift to be delivered...............oh hurry john lewis!!

s/h -get walking. if anythings happening in there, much walking and staying upright will encourage it further!
today I'm sorting the dining room (where i am now) as its my art room/computer room as well and a bloody dumping ground for dh it seems.
got really cross with my dh last night who started to even DARe to go on about how much christmas had cost etc........its hasnt because little ol me has been sticking to our bidget, sourcing gifts all over the place, trasping round town, finding gifts for PITA relatives, forking out from MY money (i dont work remember)for stocking fillers that he never budgets for... and all with no help from him. so let him know just how tough christmas was when you actually have to do some of it. grrrrrrrrrrrr....
hes abit sheepish now. good!!! (hell has no fury like a very pg lady eh?)

funny how some of you will be trying hard this weekend to start things off.......I'm not! I need to get to monday, and have that scan before I know where I can labour, home or hospital, so dont want anything to happen before that!!! no pineapple, no sex, and no walking then.......LOL

DQ - I'm sure you'll get good news on Monday. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you - but not my legs Hee hee!!!

Well, if my labour with my daughter is anything to go by (which of course it isn't) I should start getting regular contractions at around 3pm tomorrow. Although the more moving around I do the more twinges I seem to get - yes DQ your right, what I should really do is go for a long walk and do loads of housework - trouble is I just cannot be bothered!

I'm with you dq, also don't want anything to happen just yet, would like another week of maternity leave to myself and would also like dh to have slightly longer at his new job before he tells them when I'm due
Have enjoyed my first full day at home today, finished sorting through all the paperwork & filing it all away, made up the cot, did 2 loads of washing, made a cake, & had a good look at Ebay. dd and I have even bathed already
Just got to wait for dh now so we can go out for dinner

scully, well that sounds a nice peaceful day, I have been tidying the dining room (booooooooooooring and never ending) and wrapping the last christmas gifts. and putting together my last parcels to the usa for mailing monday. also built dd2 a farm play base from a leftover bit of wood and some sculpting plaster for hills..........she thinks its great. took me twenty minutes and cost nothing, fabulous. rained and rained here today, hate rain. now gale force winds battering the house and trees...nice
ninah/george et al; what have you been up to today?
s/h thanks for the scan wishes. I have everything crossed.and wishing you a productive weekend! you know if you scrubbed the floors it just might start something..........

Awful weather here as well, very glad I hadn't planned anything for outside today.
Good luck sh, hope something happens for you over the weekend!

My dh enjoys cooking, always a bonus
But I will probably do a lot more now that I'm home. He's definitely the more creative one though, I just do the basics Mind you he does leave the kitchen in a state though.....
Looking at those Samsonite pop up cots for 0-6mths on Ebay - think that might be easier this time than lugging around a travel cot or having them spend loads of time in a carseat. Wouldn't pay full price for one, but £10 or so seems reasonable.
Also, has anyone else used a Mamas and Papas Pulse stroller? You can use them from birth, the handles are the right way that you can attach a buggy board to the bottom & it's light. I like the pram we had for dd (Urban detour 3wheeler) but it's difficult to attach a buggy board to & she still gets tired if we're walking around for too long. & this other one looks more manageable on public transport, as I'll still be going into London on the train every now and then.

Hi all, have spent today feeling like a trussed up turkey thanks to the body support BUT apart from feeling bruised in my groin area the pain has been managable!
Midwife this morning and went in with high blood pressure! She was SO good though ad kept me chatting for 20 mins, had feel of baby, let me cry on her shoulder then re took my BP and it had gone to high end of normal so she has let me go home to rest! She has also written in my notes that i desperately need a date setting when i see consultant on tuesday as she is concerned about....get this..... my mental well being should my pregnancy continue!!!! I am officially a loon!! NEMO its all your fault!!
SH, get scrubbing girl! Fingers crossed it happens tonight or tomorrow for you and you can go to dd play with new baby in tow!

Sorry bonkerz, I'm not being insensitive but that is funny, your mental well being
I think she should put that in most people's notes when they are 9mths pregnant Good that the stocking is helping though. Make sure you do rest this weekend though, you don't want to end up in hospital for blood pressure. How are things with dp now?

I think I'm having contractions. Could they be just painful B-H? What do your painful BH feel like?

Report
dramaqueen72 · 02/12/2005 20:26

painful BH and contraction are exactly the same. one stays.and one wont.....
are they regular? (BH arent)
does a hot bath and paracetamol make them better?(that usually eases BH)
are they becoming more frequent? (contractions will)
i do hope its all okay for you there expat.
keep me uptodate here.

Hi, everyone,

another intermittent poster but just wanted to say to DQ I am also going to hospital on monday to try and have the baby turned as found out that it is breech although my midwife has been saying all along that it is head down!!

I have been trying alsorts of ways to turn it as although i am not scared of the operation it is the recovery time afterwards I am bothered about, especially having a boisterous 3 year old to contend with. Anyway good luck for monday and I will watch out for your post.

OK, am kicking myself now, after spending loads of time with midife earlier i forgot to mention my rib pain. Its not in front and more off to my left hand side, dont have burning in throat at moment so not acid reflux and its more a bruised, back ache feeling anyway! very painful on left side under my arm and stratching round to boob.
scully, thanks for asking, dh and i are talking again and it was him who made me talk to midwife about my feeling low, am glad i did now! Dh and i have had some long chats this week and hes started to be abit more sensitive....for now!
Am hoping ive had my BH for tonight, had an hour earlier where i actually cried cos they hurt so much but they have stopped now! Thats 4 nights now this week i have had them! Wish my body would just sort it self out!

Totally exhausted, eyes blood shot, head all dizzy. George has just gone off to sleep after feeding 3 times since 7pm (4-5 oz each time)he seems really restless tonight, not looking forward to it.

I feel really really down in the dumps have just cried my eyes out for no reason, hope this gets better over the weekend as DH is going away over night with work on Monday.

eek! ladies we're falling apart......... flutter, do take it easy on yourself, hormones and sleepless nights are crap, you are allowed to feel rough, keep your chin up, for every bad night there will be a good one, honest.
yellowbear! hey you what is it with these xmas day babies? fickle little lot! hope your turn is successful -its a pretty good chance if its not your first baby of ti working well, as I am sure they told you. everything crossed for you.((hug)) and youre right, the c-section scares me -because operations generally do, but I cant even think of the recovery time with a big busy family it makes me v sad. so this baby IS head down -or i'll ground him before he gets here!LOL
bonkerz, take it easy, try not to worry and fret, relax and pamper yourself if you can. not long now.
nemo, feeling any better? hope so. new sofas sunday eh? fingers crossed i should have a new boiler tomorrow. (will believe it when I see it working!! or rather feel it working!)

s/h hows the pineappple was only reading it last night that it has to be fresh, not tinnned, and pretty much a whole one for any effect not sure I like pineapple enough to eat a whole one...... aubergines are similar, both fiberous to the extreme and irritate the bowel track which is next to the uterus and 'may' spark off that contracting too. hmmmmmmmmmm, be careful! dont want you spending last 'days of freedom' sat on the loo! I am finding some great 'how to get labour started' old wives tales online.....must post them here , and then we can all work our ways thro them! dh looks alittle alarmed at the doggy style sex suggestion pmsl........
