Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

Hi DQ, I'm trying to nest but my back keeps giving up on me. Driving me nuts!!! I finally get some energy & I can't do stuff because I'm in pain. Grrrr!!!

Worrying that I haven't packed baby things in the hospital bag yet. Can anyone do me a list of baby things to take? (I know it's probably been on here so many times already ).

Have been for physio. Definately have SPD and left hip was out of line with right so physio did some 'manipulation' which wasnt the nicest feeling BUT has helped. Have a VERY attractive body stocking/tuby grip on right now which i have to wear for 24 hours to start with then i can wear it when i go walking etc. No crutches but i do have to go back next thursday for more manipulation and some othe exercises to help with movement etc. Physio said it sounds like i have sciatica in my right leg too but decided the SPD was more important to treat straight away and can deal with sciatica after baby here!
Not eaten yet today, feel washed out and generally down. Want to curl up in bed BUT came home to be told DS had been a nightmare at school and DH had to go in to talk to teacher. Really thought we were over the worst with regards DS sulking and stubbornness but apparently his teacher thinks he is not coping with the idea of the new baby and regularly says he doesnt want a sister and doesnt like mummy and daddy. Am annoyed that she couldnt tell me this but DH insisted its cos she didnt want to worry me etc. Really dont need this crap as well. Have midwife in mornming and fell like im just gonna break down at any point.

Bonkerz - hold it together it won't be long and all this will seem a million miles away, I'm sure that your DS will love having a baby around it will just be the thought of it that is upsetting him. I know that doesn't help much now but here have a hug as well (((((((hugs))))))))

oo loads of messaages this afternooon! had my consultants appointment this afternoon, he dosent think i need to be incduced at this satage but have another appointment at 39 wks, he agreed that the SPD is of the more serious nature and that i need to be taking it easy with not too much walking about, he is a real optimist and explained to me that, although the SPD is really bad and very painful...as the babys head engages (1/5th at the mo)it will act as a bit of a support so towards the end of the pregnancy the pubis bone will become a bit more stable!!! I was impressed with him and the way he was with me, felt loads better after.. so Bonkerz theres hope for us yet! He also said that a natural birth was as likely with me as it was with someone without SPD... yay!! Oh oh oh and shes the right way round with head down, but she is lying back to back, so that explains why i have REALLY bad back pain...

Loving all the crissie names btw, its strange, christmas is only a little over three weeks now.....and by then ....well most of Dec due will have their bubs...mad as anything, how quickly in all honestly has the time gone, its totally bizzarre.

Thanks DQ for the Raspberry leaf tip..i will endevour to get to three cups a day! oh and if you could find it in your heart, can you mail me the hospital bag list, am hoping to get it together this weekend and i would hate to miss off anything!

I love the list we have going with the dates, it will be intresting to see the final one and compare when people did give birth!

Right, am off to hang over my birthing ball try and move this lil girl round a bit!

DQ - feeling positivly normal - unfortunatly. I don't think this baby will be apearing this side of the due date!

How about you? You've been quite quiet the last few days.

Report
dramaqueen72 · 01/12/2005 20:21

jays have emailed it to you instantly!, because i forget everything the second someone says it.......what brand of raspberry tea are you drinking btw? and yeah, natural birth if you can, inductions can lead to intervention so unless you have too, I wouldnt..........(sorry nemo, didnt mean you there)

s/h, yes, am okay. abit 'odd' abit preoccupied, and abit panicky over getting everything sorted out. I KNOW my body is getting ready for the big day, but that doesnt mean its tomorrow or anything, just 'soon' you know? are you having any 'cliche' signs? i am wishing that baby here soon for you. come on lucas, mummy waiting, and youre due now you know.... (typical man, not asking for directions and being late!) have a big cyber hug form me, s/h. hang in there and try hard not to 'watch and wait'.labour si bound to start when you least expect it.
i have your new baby card all ready and waiting to fill with details.cant wait to hear. you deserve such a great straight forward labour with happy perfect baby at the end.
this could be your last weekend of 'freedom' anything planned? christmas tree shopping? meal out? last potter round shops?

Report
dramaqueen72 · 01/12/2005 20:23

and mind you felt normal before Mollies labour too......looking back i can see 'signs' few days before, but felt totally normal. then felt my waters pop like a bubble........... so you know, dont give up hope!

Report
Nemoinapeartree · 01/12/2005 20:26

lol DQ I dont mind quite aware of interventions that could occur. However just hoping will go like adams did!!!

SH did nhs direct phone you back?

Jays glad consultant reassured you. I will admit since baby engaged spd has been a bit easier.

DQ - your such a sweetie! We haven't got anything really planned for the weekend, I'm really hoping thats when it happens as next week is quite busy what with exam, looking after my mum, my sisters birthday and dd has school nativity and xmas disco's etc etc. I'm really hoping to make it to the nativity especially as I'd hate for both me and dh to miss that.

I've been getting a few twinges and what was once a day is now getting more frequent. Like you - I know I'm gearing up to it but still no idea when it will actually happen.

Was thinking this morning whilst getting ready - hopefully by this time next week all the panic/stressful/horrible stuff will be over and I can relax and look forward to xmas. One more week - thats it (hopefully) Could possibly be one of the most busy weeks of my life!

Nemo - NHS did ring back - they said it should be OK but to ring if I get any symptoms of chicken pox or shingles. I asked what symptons to look out for and she said I may notice a tightning round my stomach - hmmmmmmm, I had to laugh coz that could be either shingles OR contractions at this point. Oh well, she didn't seem worried so I'm not either.

Also just wanted to add a little note of gushyness!

Having read a thread on here today about a stillbirth I have been thinking back to how I was feeling in January. I had such a shit start to the year and I feel so utterly chuffed that we are going to get such a fantastic end to it.

You ladies have been such a big help to me - especially listening to all my neurotic ramblings up until around 24 weeks so I wanted to say such a huge thank you.

I know alot of you were in a similar position to me and I think we should all feel very blessed to be getting our babies AND have made some very good friends along the way.

OK, soppy moment over - normal service will now be resumed

I CANT FIND A COMFY POSITION.............grrrrrrrr keep staningn sitting lying hanging over the ball, walking round, sitting on the chair backwards... even tried drapng myself over DH ...nothing works

Thanks for the hospital list DQ i had a makeshift one but have seen some bits that i missed off. I have Clipper raspberry leaf tea, it was the only one in the herb shop that was purely Raspberry, and i wasnt sure if i could get it when it was mixed with another herb???

re inductions, if the time came and i was in pain or the baby needed to come out, i wouldnt think twice about it, i am the sort of person thats not too rigid with my plans, obviously i have my own plans and thoughts but if the time came to it i would be advised by the docs, as i am sure we all would

Good to hear Nemo about the SPD lessening with the onset of engagment...oh i dont know the things we go through!!!!

HI all, have eaten and feel sick again so have decided if im gonna get more braxton hicks and be sick again tonight i might as well make it worth while and just eaten some chocolate!! (you ladies have taught me well!)
Body stocking is not that comfy but will perservere, its definately helping to keep me together but test will be if i can turn in bed and not sure how it will affect pain if i get more BH tonight!

Sweetheart, i was thinking the same as oyu earlier. I cant believe that in January i was trying to cope with losing my 2nd baby. So many of us on this thread have had to cope with so much heartache and worry and here we are weeks away from our well deserved happy events. You DECEMBER ladies have been a constant support to me throughout what has been a very emotional 9 months and i dont know if i could ever repay that to you all. So before i get soppy and YET AGAIN emotional i would like to say Thankyou SSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO much to everyone who has supprted me through the hardest year of my life and lets hope 2006 will see us on a post natal boasting thread!!!

I'm getting the feeling this baby is another girl. This pregnancy is going exactly like DD's. How cool would that be? My dad would have two daughters and 4 granddaughters! Wicked!

We wouldn't have to buy any clothes. The girls could share a room. 'The girls'. I love the sound of that!

I'm honestly thinking it's a little girl. Can't wait to see her.

Hello, anyone else still up? Haven't been on in ages because MIL staying for the moment, and I'm still on this work placement thing (last day today, am very pleased, need some time to sort out everything before baby arrives - fingers crossed not before the end of next week as I have two days with DD in nursery to get everything done...)

I can't sleep - you've probably gathered that, though. We had a power cut from 7pm to 1am, so at 1am all the lights and telly came back on and I had to run around switching them off. I'm worried about this because it's the sixth time in 3 months - apparently there's a nick in the cable which they can't locate and when it gets wet it blows a fuse. I can just imagine in a month or two DH being on a late at work, me trying to wrestle with new baby and DD and all the power going...I'm going out to buy a lot of torches and other kit tomorrow, just in case.

Any ideas for a good Christmas name?

And when are you putting up your Christmas decorations (if you haven't already)?

Good luck with your c section today, mouseman.
