Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

I cant believe that ist of due dates, everytime i look it seems that theres more babies being added, amazing really, we will all have to go through virtually the same thing, and all most def end up with a buba at the end of it!!

no labour. just painful BH, methinks. HORRID sinusitis - again! sinusitis, severe oedema, anaemia from hell - this will be my LAST pregnancy. no more! if DH weren't wanting the snip, i'd have my tubes tied asap.

absolutely LOATHE being pregnant. i feel like rubbish the entire time.

midwife coming round this afternoon to check my bp.

if someone offered to induce me right now i'd jump on it.

aww expat can completely sympathise. DH and I were actually having the vasectomy discussion this morning..lol I am not sure if I want more after this or not due to our financial situation etc. Although in 5 yrs we will be debt free so will have more money but I will also be 33 then and havent done too well at 28 so how will I be at 33...lol

Flutter it is completely normal to have the break down into tears bit especially with george being so early must have been a real shock to the system. WE are all here for you hun {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}

Hope everyone else is ok. I am still full of cold and chest is burning. Also got a awful pain in my left boob tmi but it feels like when my milk came in with adam. Is this possible???????I have had to express a little bit off per day just due to them being sore and painful but surely cant be milk. The bits I have expressed I have been freezing as I wont be able to bf when baby is here so thought some clostrum is better than none..especially when I saw mears saying it was recommended for GD babies etc so thought well will be closest my baby gets.
Cant believe in 12 days baby will be here!!!!!!!!!! In fact at this time in 2 wks exactly I will prob be on here letting you all know the details if not before [will text bonkerz with the news]

Morning - no signs of a baby here either!

DQ - Yes, I've made sure the pineapple has been fresh! I've eaten 2.5 already and have the last half of one cut up in the fride - trouble is it's soooo acidic it gives me really bad heartburn! Oh well, if this one doesn't work I'm giving up - otherwise I'll start to look like a pineapple!

We are going to walk round the shops today in the hope of getting something going! Wish me luck!

Sorry so many of you are feeling low - I think it's totally normal at the end of pregnancy especially with all the hormones flying about.

Nemoinapeartree · 03/12/2005 12:27

SH sorry to be bearer of bad news..ish I tried everything with adam..well apart from castor oil and he still refused to budge. I did pineapple, curry, sex, long walks, running up and down stairs [nearly died after that one!!]bumpy roads [no idea how that works]and RLT.
Sounds like you have a stubborn little boy in there as most of them are..lol

2 days over my due date, and I now feel as if I will be pregnant forever. It's such a weird time - anytime you phone anyone, they jump and no one phones you in case they're interrupting something. I've got to try and keep busy, otherwise I just get nervous - that is the worst thing about waking up in the night - no distractions. I just pray for everyone that they will have a healthy baby at the end of it

38wks today, but no hint of anything as yet. Went with dh when he took dd swimming this morning, then we had the clever idea of going to Basingstoke as I wanted to look at something in Mamas and Papas (the pushchair I mentioned yesterday, that I may buy off Ebay). Seems everyone had the bright idea of also going there so parking was a nightmare and clever dh had let the diesel get so low that the reserve light was on for ages (after passing 3 petrol stations mind you), so he was in a right mood by the time we parked. Honestly, would rather have just gone there with dd, a lot less stressful. We managed to look at the pram and then find a petrol station, and he feels suitably repentent now but pretty much ruined what was an ok morning otherwise.....
Looking forward to a quiet evening at home tonight, where he can repent some more
My tens machine arrived today so have tested that and it's working fine, just curious now to see if it does any good!
Hang in there Flutter, like Nemo says, definitely some up and down days in the first few months. There are big adjustments anyway, even before considering George was early. & nothing like sleep deprivation to really lift your spririts
I must definitely be in the minority then, in no hurry for baby to arrive just yet. Quite happy to potter around for a bit longer yet

Thanks for all the words of support, I just keep having to remind myself no matter how exhausted you get you have to cherish every moment (even when there screaming, puking on you, weeing on you and poohing on you) as they don't stay this small for long.

I feel better today DH got up and did the 4am feed I was awake when he did it but even just lying in bed not having to move makes all the difference, so I managed about 5 hours last night which I'm pretty pleased with.

I've kept really busy today 8.30am - 10.00am feeding, changing topping and tailing George (nearly 20mins trying to get up some really stubborn wind poor thing was really hurting) then my brother dropped in he left at 11.30am then I washed all the dishes, cleaned the kitchen and sterilised some bottles 12.30 - 2.00 Fed and changed and played with George. Then took down and put away all the washing that had dried, hung out the washing that I had put on earlier, stripped bed ready for next load, cleaned the bedroom (it really really needed it) grabbed ham roll for luch and a cup of tea. Made up new bottles. 3.30ish George started screaming got him up and changed the stinkiest nappy ever settled back down into crib easily. Then came on here !!!!!!

He will be up again in the hour for his next feed and then I am going to pop the dinner on for DH coming back from work at about 6.30ish. WOW am I a domesticated goddess or what (even though I haven't washed my hair or put any make up on) or maybe I just have no life

Think I might go and write the Xmas cards out while I have 5 mins and make a list of presents to buy seeing as I have got nothing yet thanks to a little mans early arrival

I will start the post-natal thread this weekend so pop away you lot.

ladies. oh ow.... had to spend all day out of the house because of the workmen,....and I seriously HURT from being out and upright so much. massive bh to pay me for doing this....eek.
mind you, scully am the same as you, no baby til after monday, pref after wednesdya (have hair appointment)please. even tho all of me hurts and is screaming out for birth.

s/h have made a list of the funnny and not so funny 'things to get labour' started I found online. will post it in a moment, -DQ disclaimer- personally I think you cant hurry babies and they will arrive as and when they say, that said trying and reading the things supposedly famous for kick starting labour is good fun-**
expat i think I have been pg forever.......there was only a few months between my last (unsuccessful) pg and this one, so a big part of me cant wai to 'get my life (and body) back' another part of me knows, much as it hurts now, i will miss it.
oh........nemo, also been having the 'snip' conversation in our house.....(dont rush it tho hun,- I'm 32 and found pg pretty okay, so 33 isnt horrendous you know!) dh 90% agrees on snip, but not straight away. dont you just HATE contraceptives? they are ALL crap with major downfalls, I hate them. -but not enough to do FIVE children! people stare at four ffs!!

I think I've finished our christmas and dec birthdays shopping. bloody hell.
spent last night putting together the MOST complicated play kitchen for dd2. it honestly came in 1000 parts (-why?!!-)now is stashed under stairs...........

hmmmmm, you know these list and much scurrying about we've been doing........will we actually ever finish them? or do we keep adding to it?

ohnearly forgot BIG NEWS have new boiler. have central heating that works. bloody hell.
midwife coming monday (to drop off home birth box) and I have heating. woohoooooo

bags all packed, bar the snacks i have to add and the maternity bras i have to buy...couldnt decide on what baby clothes to take for her so have ended up taken more than i shall prob need!! bought some lovely nursing pyjamas, and new slippers, also have lovely smellies for after birth, even if i dont get to use them, i feel tranquil in the knowledge that i have bought them....oh and...bought some 'gorgeous' pants from ASDA.... nice and large and comfy, lol 65 pence for two pairs!!!! i bough heaps and therefore have decided that i can use them as i would disposable ones! I also got some disposable breast pads, do you use one set per day or does it depend on how much/ if your boobs leak?? Anyway all done and dusted so am totally and utterly ready, i dont feel like i can start complaining yet as i am only just 36wks but i really do feel so ready to pop this monkey!

Have built a fire for a cosy evening, also made chicken kievs for dinner, so am also feeling very domesticated!! Listening to all you go on about age and babies...this is my first and i turned 34 in June....i dont intend to stop at one even though i have had all the aches and pains thrown at me (like others too) at least DQ you will have four under yr belt, i am only just starting!!

Right going to check on kievs, hpe everyones weekend is going well

Jays - PMSL at one lot of breast pads a day - try about 15! Thats ones thing I am not looking forward to - waking up in the morning soaking wet from the leaky boobs! Get used to washing your bedding every day!

Scully - snap - we were in B'stoke today. The plan of walking round the hsops all day didn't work though. I haven't had a single pain all day Typical isn't it - I had more yesterday when I was sat doing nothing all day! Oh well, like you say DQ he will come when he's ready and not a second before!

DQ - I am feeling the same as you. I can't wait to get MY body back! I feel like I've been renting it out for the last 6 years. I'm actually looking forward to going to the gym and feeling great when someone says "Oh haven't you lost a lot of weight"!

Flutter - glad your feeling better. I don't think you have to cherish the crappy moments of motherhood. Just appreciate that they are part and parcel of having a baby. I think the first 3 months are pretty tough on anyone no matter who you are. Once you start getting smiles and things it will be sooooooo much more rewarding and you'll relise the bad bits weren't so bad after all!

feel abit weird, suddenly 'cant' walk very well, and have STRANGE bh as far 'down below' as you can go I feel -and this should make you laugh.... like I'm poss testing something for anne summers here.... (could baby G please get off whatever its on please??? this is very disconcerting!!)
aw! could of all met up in basingstoke again if we'd known!

Report
dramaqueen72 · 03/12/2005 20:03

right
heres my funny list............
shall we work thro 'em ladies?!
supposed labour starters......

sex..semen contains prostoglandins that ripen your cervix.......(i even found a couple of place that said 50% more effective if taken orally. shall we bet those sites were wrote by men eh???pmsl...)
rearranging furniture. yes well, 'granny' apparently swore by it to get things going, me I think we'll pull a muscle and feel knackered after.
rubbing the heels of your feet. and supposedly its meant to be Dh who does that. i have big doubts this will do anything than soften my feet!
parsley tea. oh ugh sounds awful......
clary sage oil -4 drops in bath. -actually theres something in this one, but I cant tell you the number of 'danger' 'warning' signs i saw about it..so I'm abit chicken.
aubergine. theres a famous restaurant in georgia, USA , that makes a kinda breaded and fried aubergine dish they actually makes pg ladies sign a book and they send gifts if you go into labour within so many hours of eating it.... aubergine for after you pineapple s/h?
oregano and basil...... apparently these herbs are so powerful around your uterus you are supposed to avoid them before 36wks! um...nobody told me. (anyone fancy pizza?)
accupuncture, well its very effective at most things so i would assume it can do this too. bit pricey and abit..drastic?
balsamic vinegar. yes really. that'll be salad with much dressing with our pizzas then eh?
spicey food, we knew that one! altho apparently mexican is more effective than Indian....
walking, releases oxytocin, (so does nipple stim -which you have to do for HOURS to do anything- but frankly I'd rather walk...) another 'get your labour going' natural hormone/thingy (technical term) the only problem I have is i CANT walk right now, hurts like **ck.
swimming, lots of people seem to swear by this, go swimming and bingo labour. something to do with baby dropping/gravity but anyway, do any of you have a swim suit that fits? think i would scare everyone to death in a swimsuit right now..
so there we go. funny reading huh?
now I know exactly what youre upto all sunday s/h!!

Evening ladies.
Well the nursey is almost there. Have pics on walls, wonderful funky floor lamp, changing station up and the drawers are all full, just have to find the nuts & bolts for the cot (whoops, slight drama!), and put the wardrobe together, fill it with the clothes that are all wasjed and ready, and we're done.

Then on Monday I'm going to pick up my tens machine and get lots of old towels and sheets etc ready, incase I get to have the home birth I'd like but I'll also pack a hospital bag just in case.

D has just gone out for the night and I'm expecting him home about this time on Sunday!
Wish so much that I was going but no can do, gutted. And let's just hope that the baby doesn't plan on an appearance before Tuesday!
Anytime from Tuesday would be great, the earlier the better!

So a good and very busy day and tomorrow I'm off to Selfridges for the day, well as much of it as I can cope with. My stepfather has Lottie and I have a 20per cent off card

Hope you're all ok. Sorry for those that feel a bit rubbish, take care of yourselves. xx

We wouldn't have found each other in B'stoke dq, what a nightmare for crowds! dh and I wanted to go to Spur for lunch but the queue was too long and we weren't in mood after his dummy spit....
Might think about some of those options this time next week, if nothing has happened.....Definitely wouldn't worry about age, I'm 35 and this is my 2nd pregnancy, and apart from having a longer commute and a dd to look after, the pregnancy bit hasn't been any different. I've been working on dh about no.3, all the way through this pregnancy He's not convinced yet though....

Dito that Scully, but I'm 34 and this has been a bit more tiring this time round but that's normal for a mum with a 4 yr old that keeps getting up at 4am and doesn't walk yet so needs cerrying a lot. I'm also gently working on DP for no 3 already but like yours he has yet to be convinced

Report
scully · 03/12/2005 21:41

I've given up being gentle, just correcting him each time he mentions it to someone that this might be our last, that we haven't agreed that yet
Although I may change my mind in the coming weeks
He's currently checking the cameras and getting them in order - that's his one contribution to the hospital bag
