Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

Evening all,

Nemo: Have just read your birth story! Cant believe what you had to go through and how well you held it together, thats what i dread happening (very similar to the birth i had with DS although add in ventousse and episitotomy!) and you can see why ive chosen the section rather than the risk of emergency section. Well done babe, am chuffed to bits and Hannah does look like a precious little angel! Well done again.

Ebbie, sorry dont think ive said it yet! Congrats on your baby boy. Hope all is well.

Treated myself tonight to a curry, completely pigged out and feel bloated but content! Tomorrow is shopping and pampering day before hospital on monday. Spent today ironing and tidying again! Is getting ridiculous now as really dont think there is anything else to do but have itchy fingers and cant just relax! Sorted out a baby box with nappies bibs etc to have down stairs and also put in some dummies and breast pump to be sterilised!

Probably a very daft question BUT after i come out of hospital, do you get visited by midwife every day? cant remember, and also if you do, do you think that includes christmas and boxing day or would i be left for those 2 days? Am getting worried cos i remember that 6 days after DS birth i went through a tough few days were i really needed the midwifes support!

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 18/12/2005 02:48

Hi all,
Totally hacked off. 2.45am and I've given up trying to sleep even though I'm knackered. Can't turn over as I hurt so much, dead legs, hands have pins & needles and I'm well & truely p***ed off. I want this baby out of me now.
Sorry, just needed to rant somewhere & everyone is asleep here. Do feel rubbish enough to wake them just to moan but that really would be selfish now wouldn't it.

Glad you had a good day at work Ninah, they sound lovely. Also think the name Arianna is really pretty.

DQ, how are you feeling? Sounds like you were feeling as bad as me earlier. Hope you manage to get a good night & feel brighter tomorrow.

Off to watch yet more late night / early morning TV and try to will this baby out! Oh I hope it isn't late or I'm going to go barmy.

Jaysfirst · 18/12/2005 09:47

awwww george, i sooo know how you feel babe, i was exactly the same last night, the night before etc etc....its such a feeling of desperation and fraustation, last night i decided to sit and read in the nursery rather that come online, so i sat from about 3.30 till 6 reading and sorting through my babe, making sure everything is in order! ( even thouhg i have done it a hundred times already) bubs is well down now as i am needing to go to the loo a hundred times a day - and night ( which doesnt help the sleep either) It wont be long hun....i too am hoping that i dont go overdue as its really putting a strain on my back where i had a back op a few yrs ago. Anyway hope you managed to get some sleep, if you didnt just chill today and if you need to doze off then do so, dont be feeling like you have to keep on the move just becasue its the daytime!

Bonkerz, the MW will come and see you the day after you get out of hospital, whatever day it is. They will asess the situation and discuss with you what is appropriate in coming out to visit you. It might be that you are ok for a few days or that you want them to come and see you everyday, my MW said to me that its all about discussion and each person is different with the birth taken into consideration also. So make sure youi tell her all your worries the first day and then take it from there! Hope you have a lovely day pampering today, try and get some nice rest too and keep yourwits about you. This time tomorrrow..........!!!!!!!

DQ hope you managed the night without DH, was he in a bad way when he turned up home or was he fuly com-pes-mentos(?) Also thanks for the christmas card, was very sweet of you to send me one! bet the postman thought id had a change of name....'jaysfirst' lol

Fully engaged ei you are about to pop arent you!!! Will keep my fingers ( but not legs!!) crossed for you babe!

Scully did you have curry in the end or did you stick to fish and chips?? I made a hot spicy chilli last night, it was awesome, i dont think that its going to be helpful to me though, as i eat a lot of spicy stuff anyway, so my body i think is quite used to it!

Right then, off to have a shower and check out the size of this bump in the mirror, i still look in disbelief at it, thinking OMG theres a baby in there! My Mum is going to be around this afternoon, as shes given her feiend a lift to Heathrow airport, on her way back shes going to drop by for a cpl of hrs before going on back to Notts, now this will be the LAST time i see her before baby comes!! scarey

Will catch up on ninahs story also, doesnt sound like you had an easy time of it , hope all is ok now!

Morning and big hi's to everyone else also! xx

bonkerz · 18/12/2005 09:59

Morning all,
No children here for me and STILL out of bed by 8am! Dh was like a little child last night though and had to get up at 1am till 4 am because he wasnt sleepy. He is so excited!! Blooming men!! LMAO
Curry last night not a great idea as it turns out because had worst attack of acid reflux at 5am this morning, couldnt eat enough gaviscon tablets!
Jaysfirst, thanks for that about the midwife thing. Even if i dont feel ok i am not sure i can expect a midwife to come out on christmas day! Am really hoping that the fact its christmas will see me through any low points im gonna get!
Going for a carvery lunch at 11.30 then off for HUGE shop! Gotta print out sure start grant forms and also list of numbers to ring. Dh is moving bags and moses basket downstairs today too and gonna put an emergency kit in car (babygros, nappies etc) as i know if i ask DH to bring anything to hospital he will not bring right stuff! He hasnt a clue where anything is in nursery!
How is everyone feeling today? It cant be long now that everyone pops surely! Someone start the new thread! Maybe Jaysfirst JUST because of your due date! Maybe a good omen that you wont be here till the end of month!!

Nemoinapeartree · 18/12/2005 10:25

ebbie22 · 18/12/2005 11:24

Hope you are all ok this morning, just a quick hello to see how you all are xxx

scully · 18/12/2005 16:07

Gosh, been quiet on here today, people busy having babies
I'm not, even after a madras curry last night and a pineapple this afternoon and going up and down stairs doesn't do anything for me as I do that about 50 times a day!
dh is cooking me a thai red curry tonight, & I'll eat some more pineapple - I know I should mention sex to him but really just the thought right now
Am getting more tired by the day though, know what you mean about your body shutting down dq. Also think I'm too used to spicey food as well Jay, but worth a try I suppose, along with the rasberry leaf tablets
Will go read your story now Nemo.....good to hear you're getting more sleep at least

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 18/12/2005 19:50

Oooh, Scully do you think that is where they all are??
Had a terribly tired day but have perked up just in time to wind down for another nights attempted sleep. Hopefully I won't want to have another rant tonight.

Not sure what time I'll be on in the morning so wanted to wish you good luck now Bonkerz. I hope everything goes OK for you and we see you back soon with gorgeous stories about Alex.
I'm sending all my best wishes your way. xxx

dramaqueen72 · 18/12/2005 20:24

just wishing you luck bonkerz with tomorrow and Alexs arrivial. hope all goes well.

george, have you tried the natalia range of smellies? they do this 'labour bath' stuff, made for or just before labour and HONESTLY it transforms me from sobbing emotional wreck back to human in one easy hot bath, its amazing stuff.....I am addicted !!

scully · 18/12/2005 20:46

Good luck for tomorrow Bonkerz!! Those products sound lovely dq, I haven't heard of them. I've been using some SpackNK bath fizzy things the last couple of weeks - dd likes them because they turn the bathwater pink!
Well had the Thai curry for dinner which was v nice but nothing happening so far.....
dd has Father Xmas visiting nursery tomorrow afternoon so will be taking her there if nothing has eventuated with me - she'll be happy
anyway
At least I'm not having much trouble sleeping - takes a while to switch my brain off initially but once I'm asleep I stay that way, enjoying it while it lasts
How's everyone else feeling?

bonkerz · 18/12/2005 21:54

Evening all, am feeling very emotional right now. Just spoken to DS and DSD who have been with MIL since yesterday, they are so excited about baby comeing tomorrow and im really missing them. Have got nerves about tomorrow but am excited too. Know that we are in good hands but am still worried.
Am going to re pack my hospital bag AGAIN. Decided to have bath and shave etc in morning to help pass time, not sure im gonna get any sleep tonight though. Dh is finding it hard to relax too and has gone all soppy on me which is lovely. Just want it to be tomorrow night already!
Gotta take a tablet at 10pm but cant remember what its for! Something to do with the aneasthetic i think!! All too real now! Still not certain my daughter will be here tomorrow though! Am in a weird transition stage i suppose. Alex not been very active today so maybe she knows!!

Nemoinapeartree · 18/12/2005 21:57

bonkerz hun not long to go. Tablet may be antacid thing..I had to take it in liquid form on one of my trips to theatre..lol

scully · 18/12/2005 22:03

Very excited for you Bonkerz, but can understand your nerves as well.

bonkerz · 19/12/2005 04:43

Bet all you ladies are sleeping well, are you??????

bonkerz · 19/12/2005 04:57

oh well will just ramble on to myself!
Plan for this morning, move bag downstairs, hoover, have a hot bath and shave all bits necessary , gonna pop to buy some arnica tablets and magazine etc also plan to buy paper and No1 CD for baby box. Am due at hospital for 11.30 on the dot. Really hope everything goes OK. Wigwambam, i think , will be posting an announcement for me some time this afternoon or evening! bonkerz · 19/12/2005 09:02

Managed another hour in bed this morning and luckily dont feel tired at all.
Am feeling physically sick though with nerves.
HAve had my bath etc and am slopping about in dressing gown willing time to go faster but it wont!
Hope you all are ok after such a quiet day on here yesterday. Whos going to pop while im in hospital i wonder!?!

Jaysfirst · 19/12/2005 09:04

morning all, and what a really lovely morning. Really cold but sunny , we have a hard froast too so everything is white, its lovely!

Good luck again Bonkerz, everything will be FINE!

I got given some bath products at my baby shower called 'little me' all organic and beautiful, really leave my skin smooth after a bath and they smell scrumtious, not sure who they are manufactured by , will look next time i go up the stairs!

Have a bad back today, seems the sciatica has decided to return, so everytime i stand up or sit down i let out a god awful yelp

Am hoping nothing hapens for me today as DH is away in Holland, he wil be back tonight though, but not till 10/11 so i guess its not too bad!

So who else's baby is on the move, are we going to pop them out this week?

Jaysfirst · 19/12/2005 09:05

LOL.....froast.....

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 19/12/2005 09:17

Bonkerz, I am sooooo excited for you. Not long to wait now.
Oh I feel so much better today. Managed to sleep right through til 6.00am then doze off again!! Think the lavender on my pillow and smearing myself with Vic to help me breathe helped (plus being an absolute wreck!!). Sorry for all my whinging over the weekend. I'm going to forget this baby coming early and focus on after christmas instead.
DQ, I've bought some Natalia labour smelly pulse point stuff which is lovely. Might have to treat myself to some other bits if it is good.

How is everyone else today?

Chloe55 · 19/12/2005 09:18

Just bobbing over from due Feb to say good luck to Bonkerz - ooooh how exciting!!

ChaCha · 19/12/2005 09:38

Wanted to post ages ago...belated congratulations to all the December ladies who have had their babies

Good luck to all those in waiting! I am a December mummy too (baby born on the 3rd) but my EDD was last week of November.

Sending you all cyber hugs xxx

scully · 19/12/2005 09:45

Serves me right for saying I have no problems sleeping, up 3 times last night for the loo -don't think I've done that before in this pregnancy, usually only once a night, so baby must have moved. Went straight back to sleep though and then had a rest between 8-9, on the sofa, with dd. Feel a bit crampy on and off but have felt like this for the past 5 or so weeks so not reading too much into that!
Really hoping the acupuncturist can move things along as I don't want to be in hospital on Xmas Eve or Xmas Day!
It is a lovely morning here too Jay, no frost though, but no clouds so was a bit chilly when I dropped dh at the station at 6.50am
Poor dd asked dh to start riding his bike to the station so she didn't have to be woken up - I thought it was a great suggestion

Jaysfirst · 19/12/2005 11:01

am right with you scually on the loo three times a night!! i def feel shes on the move...downwards!

Just finished cleaning all my windows....pheweeee knackered now...Well the window cleaner did the ousides on sat and now with the sun streaming through i can see all the dirt on the inside....so had to be done! Also cleaned out the fire as we had a massive fire yesterday, hate that job!

Mum came over yesterday for an hr, managed to get her to paint my toes and give me a lovely leg massage....DH had previously cut and filed them for me but i just didnt have the heart to ask him to paint them too....he likened filing them to sanding down one of his old MGB's...pah!!

going to do a bit of ironing then i think i might just chill for a bit, unless i find somethng else to be getting on with.

Jaysfirst · 19/12/2005 14:33
