Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

OP posts:

Hello

Huge congratulations to Nemo! Wow, quite a long labour but what a result!

DQ am very at show - although I had a couple of mucus bits last time (after sex - sorry if TMI) and still had to be induced at 12 days over - but it's more than I'm getting right now (a few extra BH).

Now, I don't know how possible / likely this is, but I've developed a sudden fear that the baby is too big / in the wrong position to engage so I won't go into labour naturally, and it'll carry on growing until 42 weeks when I'll have to be induced. Does this happen? Is this likely? Can I go into labour even if it's too huge to fit into my pelvis? Help!

THOMCATsForLifeNotJustForXmas · 16/12/2005 19:53

Oh baublee - it wasn't intentional, I thought I'd taken the last list, hard to see on a thread with so many posts.
Cut & paste the last one I just did and add yourself to it.

ebbie22 · 16/12/2005 21:14

Congratulations nemo....am also a less pregnant lady today.....or was last night...baby boy called Jack daniel.....we think......will fill u in more when i have caught up with this thread...gd luck to all these that are so nearly there xxxxx

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 16/12/2005 21:17

Missed off the list again

scully · 16/12/2005 21:43

Congrats Ebbie on Jack's arrival - my dh will love the name
Well my due date is tomorrow dh and I are arguing over whether we should put the car in for a service or not.....I think yes, he thinks no. They are just doing the basic checks tomorrow, will take about 2hrs and then anything else that may need doing we will do later. I just want it out of the way as otherwise I will get stuck with the job, in Jan, with 2 children in tow, and the battery still playing up like it is now.....
Otherwise, went out for dinner tonight, just to the pub but might be our last night out as a family of 3 Didn't have curry though, as they only had tikka massala and that isn't any use to anyone my size
Apart from the odd kick haven't had any show, any waters appearing or any sign of anything happening. Must be a boy, lazy.....
Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

sweetheart · 16/12/2005 22:07

bonkerz · 16/12/2005 23:21

Evening all,

A weekend of preparation for me! Did christmas freezer shopping today and tidied nursery AGAIN. Also finished off washing baby clothes cos a friend dropped in some more! Tomorrow DS and DSD are off to MIL till Monday Night so have a day of ironing planned and then intend to sort through clothes again and put all 3-6 months stuff in a tub till we need them. Sunday is Major christmas food shop with DH and then major bath and groom night planned! Am off to hospital at 11am on Monday morning with section booked for 2pm. Really doesnt feel real at all! Im totally prepared for my baby but cant imagine bringing her home. I starting to panic ive forgotton how to hold a baby, change a baby, feed a baby etc even though thats my job and ive done it all before!!
Am very sore today on my left hand side just under breast in rib area! Hurts like hell!!! Maybe i should treasure it as i wont be pregnant that much longer!
Dh not the best person to talk to at moment as he announced yesterday that he thinks June/July would be a good time to start TTC again!! LMAO

Had a dream last night that woke me up crying. Not a horrid one but made me lose it abit. My mum came to me in my dream and just hugged me. That was it, she hugged me and i sobbed for over an hour! Dh was great though and held me tight and talked me round, he even went and got my pic of my mum and made me laugh etc. Really helped but has definately affected my mood today, have been very subdued.

Ok enough from me im off to bed! Thankfully Alex has done nothing but kick and wriggle all day and had about 4 bouts of hiccups so am hoping to sleep well!!

dramaqueen72 · 17/12/2005 00:03

woohoo! congrats ebbie what a lovely surprise to read. how did it go, when did it go!LOL and how are you!!!!! desperate to know
scully that list is brilliant, so glad you have s/h's list skills its MUCH more meaningful to read 'whos had who' rather than 'whos supposed to of have'.....iyswim!!!! we may have whole bunch of jacks here then
nice drink out with dh tonight, prob my last one for abit! and OMG, people are nervous around me....LOL
strange pulling kinda BH tonight,.,,,no, not reading anything into them, because when i do they will be nothing...
babygibbon, dont be envious of my partial shows, they obviously arent much of a sign as i'm still here..........
scully i think your labour is going to be one of those quiet ones that start from nothing.....no shows or signs first. and yes get the car done. at least for the reason booking things like that make labour happen!!!

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 17/12/2005 04:21

Ebbie, what fanstastic news
You kept that one quiet!! See, baby Jack was just waiting til you were feeling a bit better before making an appearance.
Looking forward to reading the whole story when you are up to it.

Scully, great list, makes much easier reading for my preggie brain!!

Well, guess what, yep, wide awake and it's only 4.20am. Hmmm, might have a cup of horlicks & lie on the sofa see if I can drop off again.

Jaysfirst · 17/12/2005 08:57

can we have a new thread? i cant keep up with this one....and the first post be babies that have arrived maybe?

so morning all! better night last night, took the MF advice and had a large glass of red wine, and then lavender in my bath, slept from 11 30 till about 5, without waking, has to be a recored, then dozed off but woke every hor till i got up at 8 30...still not ideal but the best i can wish for right now!

Ebbie!!! you were quite with that...you just dropped it in to conversation like you were telling us the weather!!congratulations to you and DH, I wish you all the best!

whos next, bonkerz?

ebbie22 · 17/12/2005 09:21

How is everyone??Shall i put the details on the post thread? Can i still come and chat with you guys? Not that i have been on here much, really felt down the day Jack was born, you know what its like, everyone phoning and no news to tell them...
Btw Jack was born on the 15th dec....

scully · 17/12/2005 09:36

Updated list, sorry Ebbie!

11 Nov George (Flutter)
02 Dec Jack (Mouseman)
05 Dec Nicholas(Sid)
08 Dec Lucas (Sweetheart)
10 Dec Roisin (Expat)
15 Dec Jack (Ebbie)
16 Dec Hannah (Nemo)

Car was dropped off at 8am and the lovely people at Toyota gave me a lift home. There was another couple in the waiting room, and she was due last Monday , so I'm not the only one for organsing things like this at the very end
Once we pick it up we have a few things to do in the High St, then I'm relaxing the rest of the weekend....
Bonkerz, wish my dh wanted to start trying again so soon I'm still working on the idea of no.3!! Mind you, I could change my mind very soon

ebbie22 · 17/12/2005 09:41

Thats ok....right going over to the other thread now......will be back..

awayninahmanger · 17/12/2005 11:59

hello ebbie and JACK - congratulations, brilliant news! I love logging on here atm!
Right I'll remember you are a night owl dq, email is secure as far as I know so speak freely!
Hope you had a lovely day yesterday sh. I had a great last day at work, I can't believe how nice everyone was, I wasn't expecting anything as we had exchanged pressies etc mostly chocs but then at about 3pm the girls I work with disappeared and came out carrying three big boxes covered with Xmas paper and filled with all the useful baby stuff - like nappies, breast pads etc! all wrapped up and stacked beautifully they had been storing it secretly for about a fortnight. They had also bought pressies for Louis so he didn't feel left out. The whole department had a collection and there was a wodge of cash 'for baby' I am still in shock. It's the sort of place where you are always being told not to use too many paper clips cos of the budget so I am astounded at everyone's generosity on a personal level. ALso our cleaner gave me a hand knitted cardi ... Felt quite sorry to go really, after moaning about my job over the last year!
My Italian friend gave me a list of names - what does anyone think of Arianna, be honest.
P has taken ds out to collect dss. He is going on about buying trainers and getting a Christmas tree but since he's been out every night til midnight and hasn't bothered to phone etc I just think he can stuff his tree into a place where its lights won't shine. He has volunteered to help out behind the bar of his local on Xmas morning - becuase no one else will, appparently. Roll on the New Year and a new start!

dramaqueen72 · 17/12/2005 13:27

ninah, at your p's tact there.......
arianna? beautiful name, sounds lovely to me.
feeling absolutely S**T here BH,-weirdly high up, upset tummy, dizzy spells, shattered.......oh its great. dd2 was very sick last night, everywhere, so that involved some late night showers/mad cleaning. then dhs OTHER uncle died this morning so crap early start, which i think isnt helping. just rang dh to say I feel very... 'odd', and tho I obviously dont know if its the start of 'anything' please can he come home. once he was on teh phone tho didnt know how to say it without sounding stupid, so didnt... it is of course his works do tonight, so fel anything i say sounds like 'dont want you to go out' which isnt quite what i mean.............
ninah, how lovely on your gifts good for you hun. make it seem more real and special for you? hope so.
scully, woohoo, you have a fixed car and a shopping trip. either baby will wait til all is sorted, ...or you'll be claiming a hamper from some store!!!LOL........
ebbie, cant believe youve 'left' us!!! deeply of you.

scully · 17/12/2005 14:29

No hamper dq but we do have a serviced car and did everything else I had on the list, apart from the charity shop drop off. Very glad I didn't let dh put me off doing the car service or I would have been v annoyed this afternoon....
I know I should probably have a curry for dinner tonight but am feeling more like fish and chips, will wait and see after all the m&m's I've been eating, settle
I know an Ariana and an Ariane, both nice names and not that common. We're trying to avoid names where there will be 3 or 4 in a class, but it's difficult....
Understand the shattered part dq, also v tired now & had a small melt down just before as we took a bit longer to get home and I had gone past the hungry stage to the can't focus on anything and extremely grumpy stage. But nothing planned for the afternoon now, just relaxing and eating more m&m's I think

expatinscotland · 17/12/2005 14:58

CONGRATS, Ebbie and Jack.

Here we go, ladies! Baby boom!

Nemoinapeartree · 17/12/2005 17:01

hello all
thanks for the thoughts!!!!!!! will post a birth story on other thread for those who dont really want to know gorey details...lol

sweetheart · 17/12/2005 18:14

ninah - I'm glad you had such a nice last day at work - it's about time someone spoilt you

DQ - hope your feeling better now and are not ocming down with whatever dd has. I think you need a big dose of R&R!!!!!!

Hello to everyone else! Hope your all well. I wonder if we can squeeze a few more babies in before Xmas

sweetheart · 17/12/2005 18:54

oh, forgot to say - I agreed to the vit K injection.

dramaqueen72 · 17/12/2005 19:16

bloody hell, I'd better have this baby before christmas!!!!!!! no, think dd2 just ate something that disagreed with her, she doesnt seem ill today at all. nice to see you here s/h and nemo......dont leave me totally will you??!!.have visions of being last person on thread.............
shame on the no hamper scully -LOL, actually I think we'd all pretty much be mortified if we went into labour ina shop....well i would be!!!
got a whoel stash of natalia products today from a lovely friend, all for mothersto be, or for in labour, or for newborns. they are gorgeous and a hot bath of essential oils made me feel MUCH better...and even slightly human
george, keep meaning to say dont worry about the midwife measurements........for the last god knows how long i have been measuring two weeks or so ahead....then last wed I measured EXACTLY correct for dates. so think tape measure is not precise enough!! how are you feeling? are you feeling its soon? or just hoping so?? today i could feel my body kinda close in, shut down, whatever the phrase is i'm looking for..... really shut out the world and get ready, kinda knuckle down and lose all interest in seeing/going/doing much at all. so know its soon, but of course HOW soon is anyones guess.
just nto tonight, as dh has left for his christmas meal.......eek!!
intend to ignore all labour signs (until I absolutely have too)and surf online/shop on ebay/chat on here tonight. oh and eat chocolate......

ei23mistletoe · 17/12/2005 20:50

evenin all! wow i pop away for a few days- mainly due to crap computer and even worse bb connection!! and i cant even keep up wit everythin thats happend!
congrats to nemo (lovely name btw- its what iv chosen too!!) and also to ebbie!! what a surprise!! lovely name also!!
i still aint popped unfortunately but there have been some promising developments!! like my numerous shows and also feelin v sick today and throwin up- not a usual occurrance i can tell u!! the m/w said to keep an eye out for anythin else as im fully engaged now! the bh's are pickin up gusto and startin to hurt a bit more than usual and still comin every 10 mins or so so any day now is what iv been tellin myself!!
how is everyone else?? dq have you managed to keep that baby in for the time being?? seeing as how ur dh is out for the night??

dramaqueen72 · 17/12/2005 22:15
