Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Hi everyone, I would like to join here, though cautiously since its early days yet... q - How long after the gp appt did u get the letter?

LaTristesse · 20/08/2011 16:20

I think it depends on your area womanly... (welcome btw!). Care and process are so different depending on where you are. I had my GP appt 12 days ago and am still waiting for midwife appt (GP referral), and scan date...

JellytotZ · 20/08/2011 22:16

Good Evening Ladies!

I would pretty please like to jump on board after BFP this morning, hurrah! Missed AF due last Thurs 18th and cheapy internet testers kept showing a very faint line, infact thought my eyes were just playing tricks!.....Clear Blue Digital confirmed 'pregnant' this AM Smile So i am 2-3 weeks since conception but 5/6weeks since last AF. Will book in with midwife on Tuesday (hopefully) Already have a DD who will turn 2yrs in Oct.

Mumsnet users helped me a lot through my previous pg so im very glad to be back! *high five

Hi ladies,
Just checking in to see how everyone is. Welcome to jellytotz and all the other newbies.

I had my first midwife appointment last Tuesday at 5 weeks and have another at 10 weeks for bloods. Hope to receive scan letter soon - very jealous you've got yours beyond Envy!!

Hope everyone is well :)

thinkoutofthetoybox · 21/08/2011 10:34

Hi All,
just a quick check in - quite a few of us now, congratulations everyone!
I got an early scan on Friday morning (about 7 weeks) and saw the smallest of small beans but - best of all - heard a really strong heart beat. My DH was beaming from ear to ear! We were also greatly relieved to see its just one bean not two....!
Anyway, have started telling a few people but still think I'm tempting fate...argh. Only 5 weeks to go...
Can thoroughly recommend the early scan. We're in Aus and did it privately and paid around £150 for it (and will get a rebate of around £30 from the government), not sure how much it'd be in the UK??

PiggyMad · 21/08/2011 10:46

I'm thinking about one too toybox. I think they're about £100 here so not too unreasonable. But then I'm thinking maybe I should wait and spend that 1oo quid on a 3d scan later on? Hmmm will probably do both!

I know what you mean about tempting fate. When I rang the docs and had first midwife appt I felt the same, but then logically, we could wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone etc and then something could still happen afterwards, god forid, but you know what I mean. Still, I have only told 3 people so haven't convinced myself of my own logic!!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 21/08/2011 16:21

Sigh, I cant wait to tell people. My cousin popped over to see me this afternoon and pointed out how lazy I was to still be in my PJs. I wanted to scream "Im pregnant and I feel like shit!!" Grin

CosmicMouse · 21/08/2011 16:27

Hello. Another newbie here! Just found out we're expecting number 2 at the very end of April Grin If I go au naturel again, I may very well end up with a May baby as DD went 12 days overdue...but I'm sticking with my EDD for now, as there's a chance I might go for a section Confused Lots of research and come big decisions to make.

Anyhoo. I'm 4 weeks tomorrow, and taking each day as it comes. EDD is 30th April.

I am so desperate to tell everyone! But a whole 6 weeks before I reach that magic 12 weeks.

I think I'd like to tell my closest family and friends sooner. If something did go wrong, I'd want them to know and be able to support me through a difficult time.

But how soon? The rest of my family always wait until 12 weeks so it makes me look over eager if I jump in too soon. Last time, when I told my brother at 9 weeks he exclaimed "why are you telling me now?" in very surprised tones.

Maybe I'll just tell my best friends and not the family.

Sorry for the ramble!

Thusnelda · 21/08/2011 17:43

Hello, I'm pregnant too!

I really wasn't expecting it this month (conception on day 8?!), but just felt funny yesterday and about due so went out this morning to get a test. Had to go via the playground though as boots doesn't open until 11. That gave me an extra hour of pondering whether that taste in my mouth was somewhat metallic and those headaches this week maybe not to to with the weather...

bushymcbush, I've told both my parents already and am certainly going to tell my closest friends too. Like you say, those people I would certainly want to be there for me too if something went wrong in the first 12 weeks.

VintageNancy · 21/08/2011 18:20

Evening, just home from holiday and I've got my scan letter - 28 Sept :)
Will catch up properly soon, major jet lag going on and a craving for Chinese takeaway.

digitalgirl · 21/08/2011 18:56

Welcome newbies - nice to see some more due in later April.

Exciting that some of you are getting 12 week scan dates already. I've not told my gp yet. I'm under the dual care of St Mary's early pregnancy clinic and my private consultant so will wait and see whether I make it to 'booking in' (16 weeks in this area).

I've plucked up the courage to book a scan for 8 weeks, even though I'm eligible for one from 6 weeks. My last mc was at 8 weeks, so it will be a big milestone for me. I have a couple of weddings the weekend before so hopefully I'll be well distracted.

Feeling pretty good this weekend. Boobs and womb achy, but not much sickness (which I don't tend to get).

mumofwilliam · 21/08/2011 19:43

Hi all
well have to recommend the early preganancy unit at St Georges Hospital in tooting, london if anyone is worried about pregnancy.
We rocked up on sat am (had a previous miscarriage and was panicking) and they scanned and saw us and we were home within and hour! very impressed.
So they also gave me an earlier date of 31st March but will stay on the list as 2nd April i guess.
My 'real' scan is 20th sept so really nice to have reassurance before that with a lovely heartbeat! Just fingers crossed now.
so tired and anyone got any advise on how to stop a toddler jumping on my stomach and sore boobs! Makes me feel very sick when he does it!!
hope all well with everyone

Twittle · 21/08/2011 20:13

Hi Everyone, hope there's room for one more.... I think I am at the end of the list too 26th April by my calculations but I could be wrong!! I have a DS 13months, didn't think it would happen again quite so quickly so the news is still sinking in but am really excited... and nervous!! Please could someone add me to the list as I am not very computer literate and can't remember how to do it! Also I can't remember when I'm supposed to get in touch with the midwife for a booking appointment... what has everyone else done?? Thanks...

Zwitterion · 22/08/2011 07:28

Some of your booking in and scanning systems sound so, well, competent!

My MW is, erm, quite relaxed shall we say. I think I need to be more assertive. Last time booking wasn't til the last minute and I had to go private for the first scan as I wasn't referred in time.

Will I be storing up problems for myself later on if I start to hassle her now? (by which I mean phone calls to chase up, not stalking!)

Zwitterion · 22/08/2011 07:30

MumofWilliam what a lovely EPU story, and great news.

Welcome Whittle and congrats. Sorry I'm on my phone so can't cut and paste easily but I'm sure someone will be along soon to do it.

MrsY · 22/08/2011 09:19

There you go Twittle. I took the opportunity to tidy up the list as well Blush, hope no-one minds.

Had a good, but very busy weekend at the wedding and BBQ on Sunday. Felt like crap and was sick a bit, but then wolfed down my food on Sunday, so I got some funny looks. I was driving and I don't think people paid me much attention until I picked up the wrong glass, and had a massive mouthful of (very strong) vodka and lemonade instead of my tonic water! Very subtly spun round and spat it out thinking I'd got away with it, but I spun back to see three of my husband's aunts laughing at me!

Madam is being lovely this morning and looking after me at daddy's request, think we may potter along to the park later.

Hi to all our newcomers Smile, .

CosmicMouse · 22/08/2011 10:24

How are we all?

Had a nice weekend, which flew as ever. Feeling a bit tired, and a trifle sicky this morning. Was working last night (work 3 nights a week in a pub) which sucked big style. It was deader than a very dead thing, and just dragged! Luckily it was so dead even the manager saw sense and sent me home early, which was good.

Do wonder how long I'll last working there. Last preg I was working full-time, and was just permanently exhausted and crawling (literally) upstairs to bed as soon as we got home at 6pm Blush I was so, so, sick...and in retrospect could probably have been signed off work for about 3mo!

DH has recently got a promotion, which means my little job has gone from being a necessary evil to a helpful extra. So that is good. But I'll feel bad leaving them in the lurch if I have to leave, as I got brought in to cover someone elses maternity! It's very casual, cash in hand stuff...so it will be a case of just jacking it in rather than going off sick. We shall see.

Have made an appointment to see my Dr, but not til the 9th of Sept which seems aaaaaaaages away! The receptionist was most confused that a) I wanted to see my GP and that b) I was happy to wait until the 9th of Sept to see him. I don't think she got the fact that I was just pregnant and therefore wasn't going to keel over in the mean time! Hey ho, at least it's a date in the diary to aim for, which was kind of the point in phoning today.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok x

Zwitterion · 22/08/2011 11:20

Well after my earlier question guess what?

The Midwife called (well her cover) to say she could book me in tomorrow morning. But we're off on holiday now so the next available appointment is two weeks today. I'll be 8 weeks then so plenty of time to get the scan booked and a vast improvement on last time so I'm very pleased.

Glad to hear everyone's doing ok.

whenskiesaregrey · 22/08/2011 14:04

Hi everyone
Just posting for a bit of shameless reassurance... Had a kick in the belly from DS yday as he was mid paddy, and have a bit of bleeding today, albeit a tiny amount. I had this with DS so wouldn't be too concerned if I hadn't had the kick yesterday! We are hol in Wales at the mo (excuse the typos as posting from phone) so rang nhs direct as the nearest a&e is an hour away and they said baby is protected behind the pubic wall. They just said go along to the gp so I'm going to hold tight and see if it continues/ gets worse, and if so will just go straight to hospital. Don't really see what the gp will be able to do other that examine me and confirm I am bleeding (which I know) and tell me to go to hospital if it gets worse? Please correct me if I'm wrong though?
