Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Hi
Can I tentativly join?
Very early days but I should be due 30th April!
Very excited! Any one else a first timer?
No idea what to expect but feeling very emotional abotu the whole thing (in a good way!)

bushymcbush · 22/08/2011 15:29

whenskiesaregrey If you are worried, go and see a local GP. They can either reassure you or refer you to hospital for a scan. At least you'll know you've spoken to a doctor about it, which is better than just relying on NHS phone advice. Good luck (although I'm sure everything will be more than fine).

bushymcbush · 22/08/2011 15:31

Welcome Snowy27 and congratulations!

MrsY · 22/08/2011 15:36

Welcome Snowy27, congratulations!

whenskiesaregrey, they are right, baby is nicely hidden right now (no where near your stomach!) but if you need some reassurance, then give your local gp a ring, or maybe the local midwifery team.

I am so hungry - after being sick all morning, I am ravenous, and we have nothing good to eat in the house. By good, I mean, chocolate or crisps! The best I good do is glace cherries!!!!

themightyskim · 22/08/2011 16:18

Hi can I tentatively join too :) First baby for me, I found out on Friday and I think im due around the 19th but that could change because I cant for the life of me remember when I last came on :/

Feeling pretty scared right now to be honest, seemed to have lots of symptoms last week and have petered right down to plan old stomach ache this week, have spoken with the Midwife today and despite explaining that I have had a chemical pregnancy and I suffer with anxiety and OCD the lest she would offer me was a GROUP appointment on the 7th September. Feeling pretty unhappy right now

Snowy27 · 22/08/2011 16:51

Hi themightyskim is it worth contacting the NCT? I've had a bit to do with them through work and they seemed very helpful?

bushymcbush · 22/08/2011 17:10

Mmm MrsY I love glacé cherries!

bushymcbush · 22/08/2011 17:19

Hello themightyskim, sorry you're feeling so rubbish. Can you explain what it is exactly that you feel scared about? Lots of second / third timers here who might be able to reassure you (second time for me).

HCPs who deal with pregnancy and birth are notoriously insensitive - they see it all a hundred times a day and they forget that for us (especially first timers) it's unique, outside of our normal experience and very worrying.

For now, just keep reminding yourself that your body knows exactly what to do (even if you don't!) and everything is no doubt developing exactly as it should.

themightyskim · 22/08/2011 19:10

thanks guys, I think my biggest worry is probably my lack of symptoms right now, Im still having stomach gripes which are a lot less painful than they have been but Im reading about so many people who are already sick, who have huge boobs, veiny boobs etc that I just feel like I should be feeling something if that makes sense? I had a metally taste last week, I was never off the loo and both of those things seem to have gone, Ive been in quite a bit of discomfort too which ive been happy enough with being stretching pains and now thats stopped - I think I just needed to actually sit with someone who told me that was normal and she just want prepared to do that, just twittering on about how much I needed to be at this group session - My other half made me laugh when I told him, he said oh right so they dont need to do a test, so any old crank could be turning up pretending to be pregnant and they actually wouldnt know, brilliant! the lads got a point!

thanks anyway Snowy and bushy your time is appreciated :)

Twittle · 22/08/2011 19:47

ThemightyS don't worry about a lack of symptons if you have got the blue line then you are definitely pregnant, touch wood I don't feel sick and fingers crossed my boobs won't grow too much this time Blush everybody has different symptons and some lucky people have very few and just an ever expanding tummy!! Maybe explain your concerns to your midwife and remember there are plenty of people on here to offer advice and support at least that's what I found last time round!!

Congratulations Snowy27, its really exciting isn't it, although this is my second time to be honest I feel like its my first, I'm excited and nervous all at once and very much missing a large glass of wine..... appletiser doesn't really hit the same spot - hey ho it'll be worth it in 9 months time!!

themightyskim · 22/08/2011 20:29

Twittle I tried today got totally dismissed by her and booked in in two and a half weeks for my 'group discussion' lol, silly woman, im going to see my very lovely, very patient (and more important very used to me and my obsessions) doctor tomorrow, anyway Im shelving it for a bit now its about time I got excited we are all having babies :o

whenskiesaregrey · 22/08/2011 20:32

Themightyskim I never had any symptoms last prefer, and boobs hardly grew at all until I started breastfeeding. I know how you feel, and probably no matter what people tell you, you wont be reassured until you see that little baby on a screen. If you quickly scan back through the thread too (sorry if you already have) there are a few of us (including me) who have lost symptoms, so it seems quite common.

My bleeding seems to have stopped for now, so if that's it, I'll try not to worry (hmm). Looks like it may just be what my body does whilst pregnant, fingers crossed. Hope that I'm not speaking too soon!! Poor DH is worried, he won't let me lift anything heavier than a cup of tea!

themightyskim · 22/08/2011 21:01

whenskiesaregrey thats really reassuring thank you, Im chatting away to my mum as I type shes calming me down x

themightyskim · 22/08/2011 21:02

sorry pressed post by accident then meant to say fingers crossed for you stopping bleeding you must be terrified x x

Sorry for the double post! Symptoms of posting from phone and poor Welsh signal, to accompany crazy autocorrects (prefer = preg btw!) and failed smileys Wink

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 22/08/2011 21:38

Re the boob increase, mine went up from a B to a D by 6w with DS. When I first started BFing him they went up to an E and are now a DD.
But no change at all with this preg, except that when he feeds it feels like he has razor blades in his mouth!! Grin

LaTristesse · 22/08/2011 22:06

hey beyond..., I'm with you on the razor blades ; it's been excruciating feeding DS these past few weeks! I am finding it start to ease off now though thankfully. Just as well as he looks like he's working on the last molars now!

Welcome all the newbies, glad to have you with us!

themightyskim · 22/08/2011 22:07

newmummyvicky there was a post about that on the pregnancy forum the other night - two of the suggestions I thought were plausable were to accept any wine etc offered but basically just loose it, or poor it down the loo and buy your own plain drinks, just pretending there are spirits in them (ha I do that on normal nights out when I cant be bothered and noone notices trust me, the other was for you to say that you have got a dental infection and are taking metronidazol, its main side effect is projectile vomiting when you drink even a little alcohol Hope that helps

AprilAl · 22/08/2011 22:28

I saw my bean!

The wait was killing me, I'm too good at worrying at the best of times and given that all of my symptoms, apart from a larger than usual appetite, had pretty much disappeared I was tying myself in knots. Couldn't wait another five weeks, I'd have gone mad (and probably driven DH mad too), so I booked in for a private scan.

I saw my bean! I saw it's little heart fluttering! I'm still in a state of complete awe and wonder.

I'm not going to say I can stop worrying now - that's never going to happen after all, but at least now I feel like I can get excited...and start feeling grateful for the lack of MS!

themightyskim · 22/08/2011 22:32

amazing :)

LaTristesse · 23/08/2011 10:40

Ah AprilAl that's awesome!

Anyone want adding? I'm bored at the PC today with cut and paste function to hand... Grin
