Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Hiya girls!!

Just thought i'd say hello, i'm pregnant, done 4 tests all positive, pretty sure i'm 5 weeks tomorrow and due on 20th April, my b'day is 25th so gonna be an expensive month for my bf from now on!!

Got my doctors appt on Mon i'm so excited xx

Zwitterion · 18/08/2011 11:29

Thanks April. That explains why I'm craving meat too. Just had a full English whilst escaping from the rain with DD, for the first time in years.

Gone right off carbs though, especially bread.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 18/08/2011 12:16

spout I was told the same by my doctor, plus anything unpasturised is okay if its cooked Grin

Same for mayonnaise, its the homemade stuff with raw eggs that isnt allowed. Helmanns from a jar is fine as its pasturised :)

digitalgirl · 18/08/2011 12:17

cartergirl I've been recommended this place by my private consultant if I wanted to get a private scan while he's on holiday: London Ultrasound Centre in 46 Wimpole Street on 0207 935 4450.

CarterGirl · 18/08/2011 13:31

Hi digitalgirl - thanks loads for that. Funnily enough I looked at them before when I googled it and thought they looked good. But it's kind of hard to know for sure without a recommendation. I think I'll go there! Hope all is well with you.

whenskiesaregrey · 18/08/2011 15:44

Hi everyone!

I have also been craving cheese, so now I have justification for it. I have no symptoms other than the odd tweak and crampy feeling, sore boobs which is starting to subside, and really tired. But, saying that, I was really tired before I got pregnant.

Hoping to here from the Midwives office soon about an appointment, handed the forms into the Drs on Monday Hmm I hate this time, I just don't feel pregnant and I'm scraping around for hints of symptoms just for reassurance. Although I didn't get any MS with DS, so not surprised at the lack of that up to now. When is that meant to kick in?!

But hey, if I had a ton of symptoms, I'd be complaining! Seems like a few of us are in the same boat :)

Charliuk · 18/08/2011 16:15

Hi! I'm Charli. Age 37 from the South East. Expecting baby no 4 on April 18th!

WhenDoISleep · 18/08/2011 16:39

CarterGirl I had two scans at the FMC when pregnant with DS (early viability and 3rd trimester anomaly). I found them very professional - the scans were quite long and they were happy to answer questions. We got lots of pictures as well. The only thing I found slightly odd was that they didn't accept payment via credit card (might have changed - this was in 2008).

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 18/08/2011 17:11

whenskiesaregrey I had MS with DS from the day after my period was due (same day as BFP). With this prawn, it started four days before my period was due! Didnt test til after period was due though, as I was away.

HollyPockett · 18/08/2011 17:26

My "pip" has gone quiet! No more weird achy tummy pains and although my boobs are sore, they're not nearly what they were last week!

My appetite is still non existent though and when I do eat, she throws a bit of a hissy fit and makes me know it!

Haven't heard a peep from the midwife yet and I went to the Dr last Wed. I have half a mind to call and check that they've received the referral but wonder what they can do at this early stage... Seems odd to me that we're left to our own devises at this very critical stage!

VintageNancy · 18/08/2011 17:40

Hi everyone, hello to all the new joiners.

I'm still on holiday - really dreading the jet lag when I get home especially when I have to go to work the next day. I'm so tired as it is! Been having a few mild waves of nausea, usually when I wake up, but nothing too bad. My main symptom is crazy bloating - I'm having to use a hairband to extend my button on my jeans! Anyone got any tips to reduce bloating?

Midwife texted me today asking if I could go in for another blood test today which freaked me out. But apparently she labelled one of the bottles wrong last week. That fills me with confidence!!! Obviously I can't go in today but will do next week. My arm hasn't recovered from last time yet.

Zwitterion · 18/08/2011 18:03

Couldn't agree more Holly. I didn't see my midwife until 12 weeks for my first pregnancy. It can be such a worrying time and I wish I'd had more support.

I added my name to the mw list on Monday, don't expect to hear from her for some time. As long as she doesn't mess up my scan again I'm not too worried this time around tbh.

BiscuitChart · 18/08/2011 18:04

Hi all!

I was just lurking as usual and realised that we're all going to go through the same types of things and the sameish time, and thought it was quite nice.

Cutelittlecatlover · 18/08/2011 19:06

Biscuitchart thank you so much for your ms remedy, I feel vaguely human today!

It seems strange to me and completely unfair how different maternity services are in different areas. Where I am you can self-refer to the mws by just calling the children's centre and making an appointment, I had my first appointment on Monday at 6+3 and have another one booked for next month when I'll be 10 weeks. This is my second baby and there were no complications last time. The thought of being worried about the baby and not being allowed to see anyone horrifies me!

bushymcbush · 18/08/2011 21:51

Hello!

I tested positive today, baby number 2 due April 18th. Very excited! And nervous about getting through these early weeks.

Fabulous to meet you all Smile

MrsY · 18/08/2011 22:53

Hi all. Feeling rubbish still, looking forward to getting bil's wedding over and done with so I can relax and not worry so much about people finding out. And what is with my daughter's nappies suddenly becoming radioactive, just when my stomach is already churning...

Am hoping that I get my mw referal soon, or I may have to go for an early scan, not that that will stop me from worrying!

Have a nice day planned tomorrow with my mum, so I may even get a chance to nap!!!

Zwitterion · 19/08/2011 08:02

Hello Bushy and congratulations.

Hope you have a lovely day MrsY.

I've got weddings in the next week too - first one will be ok as I can say I'm driving.

Second one a bit more difficult as we're all staying at the venue for the week. And the groom met DH in Tesco's the other day and commented on the pg test in his basket. So not much hope for keeping quiet there!

spout · 19/08/2011 08:38

not much talking your way out of that, Zwitterion Grin couldn't he have hidden it under the bog roll?

The differences in pre-natal care are so different around the UK, it baffles me too Cutelittlecatlover. Last time I was pg I was in a different city and I saw a GP straight away at 5 weeks to confirm the pg and then a MW the following week. Now I've got to wait until nearly 10 weeks for my booking in app with a MW. Hope there'll still be time to book me in for a scan at 12 weeks!

StrandedinStLucia · 19/08/2011 09:10

Hi all,

I have been given Monday 26th September as my date for the 1st Scan! Got it in the post today! Haven't spoken to my midwife yet, though she did leave an answerphone message for me, when I replied I also got the answerphone... never mind!

Feeling quite real now! Is anyone getting the Down's Syndrome screening?

MrsY · 19/08/2011 13:08

Hi Standed, I won't be getting the screening, didn't with my daughter either. Partly because it doesn't give a positive or negative, so whatever the result, there's always a chance and it would cause months of worry, but mainly because, even if it did give a 100% answer, I still wouldn't do anything about it, apart from worry!

I think I'm not going to wait for the hospital appointment to come through, so I'm going to call the surgery mw and organise my booking in appointment.

Weather's lovely here, hope it's shining where you all are. x

bushymcbush · 19/08/2011 14:20

I don't think I'll be getting the downs test either, despite my advanced age of 37. It wouldn't make me change my mind about the pregnancy anyhow, so it would just cause unnecessary worrying.

I got my first wave of MS over my cornflakes this morning. But was totally ravenous by lunchtime so I just ate a massive starbucks cake (after consuming my own and half of DD's sandwich Blush). Last pregnancy I piled on 2 1/2 stones more than I should have. Must must must be more careful this time!

Anyone else eating too much?

Zwitterion · 19/08/2011 15:09

Yes me bushy. I'm ravenous and feeling nauseous all at the same time.

I too put on far too much weight last time, partly through overeating, but some of it has to be blamed on your digestion slowing down to extract nutrients, and the building of fat stores. That's what I keep telling myself anyway!

Part of me thinks that I should watch what I eat, but mostly I just think that I'm giving my body what it needs. Today that has meant a cheese and onion sandwich for breakfast Grin

VintageNancy · 19/08/2011 18:25

Re scan: I decided to go for the Nuchal Scan. I know it's only a risk factor and I'd have to get further testing if it's high risk to know more, but we've got a big relocation to another country on our hands and I'd like to be prepared in advance.

newmummyvicky · 19/08/2011 21:21

hi all, other mums or mums to be.

I had my first midwife appointment the other day im 8 weeks and i due on the 30th of march i think, i did another calendar and that said 1st of april. so a little confussed.....
oh well have to wait for my dating scan, can wait to see it! The midwife said ill get a date on the post over the next week/ 2 weeks for a around 12 weeks.
Ive been feeling a little sick on some days, and really knackered, going to bed much earlier. Pleased to say my boobs have become less sore this last week, and my tummy twinges have calmed down a little too.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 20/08/2011 13:34

Weyhey, I got the letter for my scan appt yesterday, its on the 29th of Sept!!! Grin
Was worried it would be on DSs birthday which is the following week...
