Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Hi all, and to all the newly up-duffed!

Been to see my Bro this weekend so told him and his wife, also told my parents and husband's parents. We will tell husband's brother, but that will be all for a few weeks! Although we are going to a family wedding in 2 weeks and i think it will be pretty obvious when I don't drink so I'm sure they will figure it out then! Never mind!

Had a lovely day out before we went home and, although husband is trying to be good and not get too excited just yet... we did discuss baby names and have picked a blinder! Love it, and would never have thought of it!!

Symptoms are sore boobs, gone off food and mild nausea, not sickness yet... Sis-in-law did say that feeling sick a sign that hormones are high and that is good... something to think of when talking to the porcelain gods in the future I guess!

Cutelittlecatlover · 16/08/2011 19:24

Thanks LaTristesse. well I haven't actually been sick but I feel nauseous all the time and despite sleeping for 12 hours last night I still had a nap this afternoon while ds was asleep! I forgot how horrible this early part was although I'm sure I wasn't this bad last time. Roll on the second trimester!

MrsY · 16/08/2011 19:59

Bleugh. I am so over the whole morning all day sickness. I had it badly until about 30 weeks with my daughter, and I really don't want a repeat this time. I'm also sleeping really badly atm, I'm going to bed at 10-ish and get up at 7-ish, but I still only get about 5 hours sleep. I'm exhausted!

WhenDoISleep, we'll have the same age difference as you. I think it should work out quite nicely, I'm preparing myself for some jealousy etc, but she loves babies and is very helpful, so I'm hoping that she'll love being a big sister and looking after the baby.

My GP is referring me to the hospital MW's, I hope the appointment doesn't take too long to come through - has anyone had experience?

I think I'm most looking forward to the scan, especially the 20 week scan, I never did like calling M 'it' before I knew she was a girl. Is anyone going to have a surprise, or we will all be finding out gender?

HollyPockett · 16/08/2011 21:22

Evening all!

I have decided that "pip" doesn't like me eating a normal amount of food at any one time. If I eat a similar portion to what I used to I feel really bloated, then quite I'll flowed by painful trapped wind! Sorry if TMI! So I'm going to have to remember to eat little and often!

No MS yet, hoping it stays that way! Had awful back ache yesterday that only went when I stood up, not v practical when at work!!

Ah, the joys if the first trimester!

BiscuitChart · 17/08/2011 09:49

Hello ladies, I hope we're all well today.

I've been having all day nausea, so did some research and am trying ginger tablets (1 a day from boots) and vitamin b6 (also from boots - am taking 2 10mg tablets 3 times a day).

I'm posting cos it seems to be working!! Took the first doses last night, and this morning (I'm on holiday at home just now) I feel better than I would usually, even managed a cup of coffee, which I haven't fancied for weeks.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone with MS as they both appear safe (safe limit of vitb6 is 100mg a day) and you never know :) vitamins are on 3 for 2 at boots just now too :)

right, that's my input for today sorted :) have lovely days everyone xxx

Adding myself. Hello everybody
Hate these first weeks, I feel nothing. On the other hand last pregnancy I was sick as a dog for the about 4 months. Don't want that again.

MrsY In my last pregnancy all my MW appointments were at the hospital. If I remember correctly my first appointment was at 11 weeks. Long 2 hours or so in the waiting room but nothing a lot mor local to me ten the GP believe it or not.

knittymum23 · 17/08/2011 12:46

Hello, last time I came here there was no thread :-) I'm glad there is now... I'll add me. This is my second, I'm 7 weeks now, and I'm already doing my diabetes tests after having GD the first time :( My blood sugars are too high for my liking already, so am all narked with it all - already.

I've told a few of my closest friends but not too many people - just when it becomes awkward to explain things...

Hello everyone and welcome new up-duffers.

Think I just had my first incidence of "craving inedible things" and after a quick dash to the shop am now happily munching my way through a pot noodle.

Feeling slightly ashamed of myself, but I figure after all the fruit, nuts and wholegrains I've eaten so far I'm allowed the odd moment of insanity slip-up

Itsgoodtotalk · 17/08/2011 13:37

Hi, adding myself to the list - due 7th April. Have just eaten half a loaf of bread dipped in vinegar - feeling better now!

Zwitterion · 17/08/2011 14:03

Just checking in to say hullo and gosh, I'm in a bad mood today.

Last night burst into tears watching the Great British Bake Off when some poor guy dropped his layer cake on the floor.

Today snapped at my dad for daring to ask me about my mortgage. Arrgh!

MrsY · 17/08/2011 17:59

Zwitterion, I did the same, I love the Great British Bake Off, although it made me feel so hungry, only an hour and a hald after dinner!

The bread in vinegar sounds awesome! I just made my way through a family sized bag of skips! although madam had more than her fair share!

My BIL is getting married on saturday and we checked with the in-laws and I can't have any of the planned food - great! So different food and not drinking, I'm sure no-one will guess Hmm.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 17/08/2011 20:15

Stomach bug so you're on the BRAT diet?

Didnt think I was having cravings. Then realised my last two days meals consisted of cheese toasties, pasta in cheese sauce, cheese sauce on chips and cauliflower cheese grills. I see a common element..... Grin

digitalgirl · 17/08/2011 20:20

Ooo beyond I've had cheese and ham toasties for breakfast three days in a row Grin

mumofwilliam · 17/08/2011 20:43

spurs - not sure where you are but if in London the early pregnancy unit at St Georges hospital in tooting you can just rock up and request a scan due to anxiety! We are going to try at the weekend as like you i feel too well! Felt really bad with DS1 so want to reassure myself, but saying that in a bad mood and had argument with hubby so maybe the pregnancy symptoms are there!
hope all you ladies are doing well

spout · 18/08/2011 09:49

beyond I'm with you on the cheese cravings. Unfortunately mine are for naughty cheese. I dream of ripe gooey brie...

DH bought me a whole Chaumes at the weekend because the cheesemonger told him that pregnant women could eat anything as long as it had been pasteurised. Hmm I'm pretty sure that's not true :(

Zwitterion · 18/08/2011 09:53

Yes cheese.

Why is that? Is it for the calcium or the fat?

Hope everyone's ok today.

AprilAl · 18/08/2011 09:54

Mmmmm cheese...

AprilAl · 18/08/2011 09:56

CarterGirl · 18/08/2011 09:59

Hi all,
I've lurked a bit but am posting today.. I'm due in early April (it seems to vary acc to which on-line calculator I use!) but can't really bring myself to believe I am pregnant so it feels a bit fraudulent to be saying that. I don't have any MS, and I've never been pregnant before so don't really know what to expect but you are just led to believe that when you're pregnant you throw up.. I've had sore boobs, but lately they feel slightly less 'hard' as they did at first. I've also been very tired (but then I am often tired and I don't know if it's the lack of caffeine that's causing that too!), I have been sensitive to smells but nothing crazy noticable in that area the past couple of days. I've had a bit of gassiness/ constipation (sorry - feels odd being so personal!) but I don't know if that's the vitamin supplements... I've had some crampy feelings in where I guess is the uterus but then I don't know if it's my nerves about NOT feeling that pregnant causing tension there... In other words I'm slightly driving myself mad, and to top it of my bf is probably flying back to NZ today for about 3 weeks (he is a New Zealander - yes, complicated..). So if I do go and get an early scan this weekend I'll most likely do it by myself. So am feeling a bit sorry for myself today!
But I wanted to say 'hello' and I hope the rest of you are doing OK!

LaTristesse · 18/08/2011 10:09

Hi CarterGirl! Welcome and congratulations! Good to have you with us...

The calcium thing confuses me; can someone tell me why those Pregnacare supplements contain little or no calcium. Surely calcium is essential?! I've been reading Patrick Holford and personally I'm just going to create my own supplement blend based on his book and go from there. It's what I did last time and that seemed to work fine (happy healthy clever toddler). Now if only I could swallow the damn tablets without retching!

SurprisEs · 18/08/2011 10:31

Hi everybody! I didn't take any supplements last time, was sick everytime I tried to take one but I craved sardines a lot!

This time I have no symptoms at all. Feels weird because this time last pregnancy I had my head down the loo. Glad I'm not sick but slightly uncomfortable with the lack of anything going on.

CarterGirl · 18/08/2011 10:42

Hi LaTristesse!
Me again... Further to my previous post does anyone have any recommendations about where to go (in London) for a private early scan? I read somewhere that the FMC (Fetal Medicine Centre) nr Harley Street was supposed to be good - has anyone been there?
The idea of it does make me quiver like a jelly a bit... But equally am not sure I can hold on til 12 week scan!
Conundrum-tastic!
Sigh. I suppose I ought to go and do some work...
