Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Wow! Welcome everyoneGrin so many April babies!!

I'm in bed as coping with a toddler and pregnancy is certainly not easy...feel like I am getting a cold though - any natural aid ideas please ???? Also might be TMI but when I feel nausea which is generally lunchtime onwards I actually end up getting an upset tummy, is this normal? I didn't have this with DD. Thanks ladies x

Zwitterion · 14/08/2011 06:08

Hello all! Can I join please?

Just got a BFP yesterday, a week after AF was due. I should take out shares in Clearblue.

I'll add my stats in a sec.

MrsY · 14/08/2011 08:01

I'm the same Essexmumma, went to bed early last night, and woke up early this morning to the worst nappy ever. I always knew that having our second would be worse then when I was pregnant with M because I woluldn't be able to lie in, nap and generally do what I needed to do like I did before!

Have friends for lunch today and when I went to bed J (my husband) said he'd get the place looking spic and span before he came up, he came up about 2, so assumed he'd done everything and then played the xbox, but came down this morning and it looked worse. Apparantly, he started doing the floor with a little hand held hoover he has for the cars and it ran out of battery, so he gave up, conveniently forgetting we have two mop things for the kitchen flooor, and a broom, dustpan and brush for the sitting room floor. Grrrrrr.

So I'm cooking breakfast and tidying, instead of snuggling with M. Thanks goodness for Mickey Mouse Club House!

LaTristesse · 14/08/2011 08:53

I agree Essex..., my tummy is all over the place, don't remember that last time either!

It is tough dealing with MS and a toddler at the same time isn't it, yesterday morning saw me gagging over the loo with a confused DS wailing and clinging to my leg, not ideal!

Welcome and congrats MrsY and Zwitterion, you're due on my Birthday. April is going to be expensive for us as we already have 5 family Birthdays in a row, am secretly hoping this baby is late to make it 6!

MrsY · 14/08/2011 12:41

I know what you mean, LaTristesse, we have my daughter's birthday in February, mine in March, my husband's in April, I kind of wanted to have the next in May, but no way do I want to be two weeks late!

Makeminealarge · 14/08/2011 18:53

Congrats ladies!! Well, after my mother had her tarot cards read last week and my aunt saw her psychic this week, both confirmed a baby due in 9 months. So just out of curiousity i did a test. It was positive. Im absolutely stunned!! lol Woohoo! Not told anyone yet, as the family currently are guessing who is pregnant...they think its my sister :D

MrsY · 14/08/2011 19:05

Congratulations Makeminealarge, do you know when you are due? BTW, those ladies who weren't sure of due date, did you do a test that allows for a longer/shorted cycle?

I have spent the day cooking, cleaning and tidying, including taking apart my modular sofa, scrubbing it and re-arranging the furniture in the sitting room - I'm knackered now! Think my body is only just getting the nesting instinct from the last pregnancy!

Makeminealarge · 14/08/2011 19:46

Due 14th April, however my DD was overdue and i had to be induced, so wouldn't be surprised if this one was the same!

WhenDoISleep · 15/08/2011 08:17

Hello Ladies

I going to jump on this thread having got a vvv unexpected BFP yesterday morning. We already have DS aged 2.6 yrs and were planing on TTC in the New Year (weren't actually trying atm, iyswim) so I'm currently feeling a little shocked about it all.

I calculate my due date as 22 April, having adjusted for a longer cycle, but I'm guessing the Midwife will probably date me as 18 April if they don't adjust for cycle length.

MrsY · 15/08/2011 08:39

Hi WhenDoISleep, love the name - I'm feeling it this morning! Your DS is just a bit older then my daughter. We're you waiting before trying because of age difference or anything? We were trying for just over 3 years when I fell pregnant with Mouse, and only trying for about 6 months this time, so although we were trying, I'm still totally shell-shocked!

Off to the Doctor today :) and had a dentist appointment today but had to cancel it - quiet glad I did now, 'cos I'll be getting my card through soon!

WhenDoISleep · 15/08/2011 11:07

Hi MrsY and thanks for the welcome. The name came about as DS was (and still is to a certain extent) a terrible sleeper and I am on night duty. Thankfully his last teeth are coming in now and he starts pre-school next month so the combo of no more teething pain and exhaustion from new experiences will hopefully nudge him towards sleeping through.

We were waiting mainly due to the age gap (DS will be 3.2 yrs) when this one is born and we would have preferred him to be a little older plus I would have preferred an autumn-born. But hey-ho, what will be, will be and all that.

I am seeing my doctor next Monday to get the ball rolling re. Midwife etc. It is slightly ironic that I was just in the Surgery last week and asked about what to do when I needed a referal. Little did I know!

I'm still with you on the shell-shocked. Feeling a low level nausea this morning - am hoping that it is just because I have a headache and need to drink more rather than any indication of morning sickness. I was so lucky to avoid that with DS and hope to do so this time. MS and a toddler is not something that I want to attempt.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/08/2011 12:51

Hiya When

I disagree, I'm over the moon that DC2 will be a spring baby, DS was an autumn baby and I hated being pregnant in the summer!!! Grin

My worst morning sickness time at the mo is when DS wakes for his 4am feed. Luckily DH has been off work the last few days so hes gotten up with him in the morning while I've stayed in bed, but hes back in on nights tonight...

splurs · 15/08/2011 14:33

Hello again everyone. Having a bad day and need some reassurance!

The midwife called today to arrange booking in appointment. But they won't see me until 11 weeks so I've got to wait till mid-September. Hmm

Feeling a bit overwhelmed and undersupported at the moment. Quite worried as I'd had very obvious symptoms (boobs, weeing, tiredness, queasiness) for a couple of weeks and then about a week ago they all started to disappear. They've now completely gone altogether and are showing no signs of returning. I'd had a bit of cramping at the same time and just don't feel "right". Called NHS direct who said that it wasn't normal to lose all symptoms so dramatically like that but unless I started bleeding I shouldn't bother anyone with it as they wouldn't do anything until I see a midwife to be booked in. Which didn't reassure me at all! My doctors are the sort who don't like to be disturbed as well so I'm just left waiting for another 5 weeks wondering if it's all ok. :(

DH is trying his best but he's a cautious being at the best of times so just isn't really getting it that much (self-preservation on his part I think).

I would love someone to tell me I'm being paranoid as I now just feel like I am sitting here endlessly waiting for some bleeding to start and my fears to be confirmed. Boo hiss. Rant over.

LaTristesse · 15/08/2011 16:43

Oh Splurs that's horrid to be left to your own devices for such a long time when you're so worried... I'm not sure I can help much, other than say I find symptoms do come and go, and strong symptoms don't necessarily mean 'strong' pg (or the opposite) iyswim... Would an early private scan be an option? Try and take it easy, all my fingers crossed for you...

AprilAl · 15/08/2011 17:12

Totally sympathise Splurs, the wait is excruciating and I've been tying myself in knots over the last couple of days when my symptoms seemed to dramatically reduce too (wouldn't say they're gone completely, but I definitely don't feel as pregnant as I did IYSWIM). I'm trying to calm myself with the thought that it's possibly just the early flush of hormones settling down into something a little more stable, but I've found myself really wishing for some MS - I know those who are currently suffering will probably think I should be careful what I wish for! Unfortunately there's not a lot we can do but wait and hope for the best unless, as LaTristesse suggests, an early private scan is an option - must admit I've considered it.

Fingers crossed for you here too

VintageNancy · 15/08/2011 17:16

Morning from a very hot and sunny California where I'm on holiday. Jet lag has been a bit of a bastard and I had a horrendous headache all afternoon yesterday which laid me up until dinner. But feeling better today. Thank goodness for no morning sickness - hope it doesn't hit mid-air when I come home at the weekend!

splurs you poor thing, that's crap :( I don't know what to suggest, can you call the midwife and have a chat? Or is there a nurse at your practice you can go and see? My DH is similar to yours, he's quite cautious about it all at the moment. I've had varying symptoms throughout the last couple of weeks - had pretty obvious nausea before I even got the BFP but haven't had it recently.
Try to relax (easy to say) and find ways to distract yourself. And whatever you do, don't google.

splurs · 15/08/2011 19:20

Thanks everyone. I'm sure I'm overreacting and it was the 30 minutes googling before bed last night which really got me worked up but the "go away and stop bothering us you paranoid freak" attitude from the NHS today was so upsetting.

I'm going to try to relax, eat a penguin (the chocolatey kind) and google private scans, just in case.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/08/2011 19:32

Oh Splurs :( Hope all is okay! xxx

I remember someone suggesting to a friend of mine before (when I was having DS) that if you have any worries, you should pop to your antenatal unit and tell them you have been bleeding, and they will give you a scan to check for a heartbeat. Not sure how comfortable you would be lying about that, but its a thought if you are that concerned...?

Zwitterion · 15/08/2011 19:55

Hope you feel more relaxed soon splurs.

During the first trimester of my first pregnancy I felt the same, really alone and abandoned. I didn't see a midwife until 12 weeks, she didn't book me for a scan in time so had to go private. I was dismissed by the doctor, mw and hospital. It was a very scary time. (hadn't found mn then either)

Care in early pregnancy can be so mixed. I also thought it was weird that the booking appt at 12 weeks focused on a healthy lifestyle, which I always think is a bit late as the foetus is fully formed by then.

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is I think what you're feeling is completely normal. Do come on here and talk to us. Don't google under any circumstances!

Cutelittlecatlover · 15/08/2011 20:29

Splurs Sad thats so rubbish! Have you thought about contacting PALS? They may be able to put pressure on the relevant people to get you seen quickly. If it makes you feel any better I had very on/off symptoms with dc1 and hes a perfectly healthy nearly 2yo now. Its scary but it doesn't necessarily mean anythings wrong. I'll keep everything crossed for you xx

digitalgirl · 16/08/2011 11:48

Adding myself. Have been lurking for a week or so, but having had 4mcs since ttc#2 am being cautiously optimistic. Am on steroids, progesterone, aspirin and metformin in a bid to make this pregnancy work. Will continue to lurk till I feel a bit more confident.

splurs Do you have an early pregnancy unit at your local hospital? You should call them directly (not NHS direct) and explain you've completely lost all your symptoms, are very worried and would like a scan to rule out a missed miscarriage. If you find it too upsetting to make the call get your DP/DH to do it as I find they seem to respond better when my DH calls. Sometimes a sympathetic GP will refer you - my GP did this in my first pg. Otherwise, a private scan may be your best bet. But I suggest doing something pro-active (like trying to sort out a scan) may make you feel better. I remember the 'not knowing' being the worst part.

WhenDoISleep · 16/08/2011 12:53

splurs early pregnancy is a worrying time. Like the others have said can you contact the EPU at your local hospital? Or try to arrange a private scan yourself? I know there is a company called Babybond which have scanning centres all over the country. As digitalgirl says, being pro-active my help alleviate a little of the worry.

digitalgirl I hope everything progresses well for you
