Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

OP posts:

kat2504 · 23/09/2011 09:21

I had that a few weeks ago and it was absolutely fine (had a scan a couple of weeks after the event) and the next time I had sex it didn't happen again.

Sugar26 · 23/09/2011 14:36

Thalia... my sickness is easing...dizziness has taken its place! I am still so very tired but that could be due to changes in shift pattern at work over the last few weeks.

I have my scan on Monday....still terrified.

Hope everyone else is not feeling too sick x

Thaleia · 23/09/2011 15:27

I'm so dead. Somehow, before getting pregnant, I never thought of morning sickness. Or rather, I thought of it as it only happens to other people. And for sure not the whole day. I've got a lot more respect for all who went through this twice or even more often. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and can't wait for everything to be over.

I left the house at 7.45am this morning and I guess, it's 7.45pm when I'm home again. All I want is cry and sleep. Together actually.

kat2504 · 23/09/2011 15:30

Perhaps the fatigue of being on the go for such long hours is making the sickness worse. I don't think it is a coincidence that I have sat on my arse for much of the time so far and I have been feeling very well. Perhaps see your doctor/midwife about your working hours. Or cash in a day of annual leave next week if you have any spare and use it to treat yourself to a nice easy relaxing day?

Sugar26 · 23/09/2011 18:08

Fatigue definitely makes my sickness worse. I took annual leave to cope when I got to 9 weeks. I too could have just cried.

Hope it gets better soon x

Mackrelmint · 23/09/2011 18:56

I think I found last time that the nausea and bad mood gradually eased from about 12-17 weeks. Everyone is different but I do think most start to feel better somewhere around second trimester - hope that is the case for you Thaleia and those others struggling.

I am wondering about telling people. It still doesn't quite feel real for me and I really want to wait til after 12wk scan. BUT, both my sisters are in the UK at the moment - 1 lives in Aus and 1 in USA. They are both leaving in a week when I will be about 11weeks I think. I'm not a natural sharer (that's a massive understatement...) and I don't feel like telling but I wonder if I am being mean depriving them o the chance to be told in person. They are both the kind of people who care about that kind of thing and share everything about their lives. I know it's impossible to advise when you don't know the people involved but would welcome your thoughts!

I'm not the only one with horrendous ms I see. Finally went to the docs last Friday and asked for something to help so was prescribed prochloperazine buccal tabs and it's been like a bloody miracle cure! Only need to take 2 a day instead of the prescribed 4. Evenings are still a bit rough but nowhere near as bad and I haven't been sick for over a week, yeeees!

LaTristesse · 24/09/2011 12:15

Welcome and congratulations heymammy, good to have you with us!

I think if it were me mackrel, I would tell them, it sounds likely would mean a lot to them, and I'm guessing you don't get to see them that often. You're only a week away from the all-hallowed 12 weeks, so I'd do it I think.

AprilAl · 24/09/2011 13:21

I'm with LaTristesse, I'd tell them Mackrelmint, they'll probably really appreciate the opportunity to congratulate you in person.

I have my 12 week scan on Wednesday and am generally waiting until then to go public, but I've told a couple of close friends already because they live so far away and the opportunity arose to meet up with them. It felt better to tell them face to face rather than over the phone.

heymammy · 24/09/2011 17:26

Tell them Mackrelmint, it's much nicer to hear lovely news in person Smile.

Good luck with your scan April, are you planning a big 'reveal' or letting the news trickle out?!

Most of my cronies know already, I had to tell the children at about 10 weeks as they were worried that I was being so sick. They managed to keep it in for 2 whole days then a mum congratulated me in the playground lol.

No booking in appointment for me until 14+3 and I'm not even sure if that involves a dating scan or not. No nuchal scan offered here (glasgow) as they don't have enough trained staff to offer it Shock

SurprisEs · 24/09/2011 19:08

Hi everyone.

Sorry to read the bad news georgee have a good holiday and make sure your family spoil you.

Got a letter through for my scan on the 4th of October. Can't wait!!!
Still no letter for a MW appointment though... I want to hear that heartbeat...

Being unemployed has made me go cleaning mad. Today I've deep cleaned the washing machine, descaled the kettle and have soaked the oven in "Oven Pride" ready for tomorrow.

It's only 7pm and I wish I was in bed. But no sickness today and only a mild headache. So a pretty good day.

Got a job interview on the morning of the scan. I wonder if he'll sound as excited as on the phone when I tell him I'm preagnant.

Mackrelmint · 24/09/2011 20:07

Thanks all, I know you're right; I think I kind of knew as I was writing it that I was being ridiculous, but needed someone to tell me!

My sister really struggled last time she found out I was pregnant - thinking about me being able to have my parents close whereas she lives on the other side of the world with her kids made her feel sad - and my parents and other sister were pretty indifferent last time so I am not expecting a load of congratulations tbh, but I do think I ought to avoid offending anyone.

I haven't told anyone yet; I don't know what it is really, but I am just not someone who likes sharing news!!

Forgot to call the hospital on Friday to see if they've accepted my referral, so still no booking-in or scan appointment... Must sort out next week!

El32 · 25/09/2011 08:57

Hi,
May I join the ever growing list please, I'm 11 weeks today. This is my first pregnancy. I'm soooo excited:) I will have my first MW appointment on Friday. First thing I'm gonna ask her that 'can I dye my hair?' :))

Have a lovely weekend everyone:)

Welcome! And yes you can dye your hair. It's perfectly safe, I have asked this myself.

spannermary · 25/09/2011 09:40

I'd been wondering that too... 11 1/2 weeks and my roots are showing!!

kat2504 · 25/09/2011 10:10

Just make sure your window is open and the area is well ventilated. You are supposed to do this anyway, pregnant or not.
Also your skin may change so do not skip the 48 hour patch test, even if its a brand you regularly use.
Some people say the hormones affect the way the dye takes, so you might end up with a slightly different result. No idea if this is true in practise or not.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 25/09/2011 10:32

Helloo

Been nursing a migraine for the last two days but am feeling much more human today. :)
Had a birthday party yesterday too (didnt want to cancel as I already missed one) which didnt help. On the countdown now to my scan (thurs) DSs first birthday (next weds) and my first little birthday party (week saturday). Busy week, lots of cleaning to do to make my house something resembling acceptable to others Grin
Nearly told the others at the party (former colleagues) about a million times yesterday, I'm awful at keeping secrets and we were talking about when we're having another (work had a baby boom, loads of us off at the same time with our first. I'm the only one who didnt go back) I reckon they probably guessed as I realise now that I didnt actually mention my plans for #2, whereas before I always said I want them close together Grin
Bet they were just too polite to ask if I'm pregnant or just fat!! Grin Oh well, hopefully only four days left til I can tell the world :)

El32 · 25/09/2011 10:45

Thanks a lot kat2504, I'll let you know if the colour result different from my prev experiences.

AprilAl · 25/09/2011 10:45

Thanks heymammy . Have already told parents, siblings and my two closest friends (will tell a third when he visits later today), so I thought I'd go for a big reveal for everyone else. Really looking forward to having it out in the open, I'm rubbish at keeping secrets and fed up of looking fat with no reasonable excuse Wink

Glad your head's better Beyond, hope you stay headache free to enjoy your busy week ahead.

VintageNancy · 25/09/2011 13:30

Hi all, still struggling with my back and doing basically nothing. Getting fed up now although I don't miss work to be honest!

Looking forward to scan on Weds but also nervous about it. Can't believe I'm almost 12 weeks pregnant, is there really a baby inside me??

Nordicmom · 25/09/2011 15:43

Hi again! I hope everyone is doing ok despite the ms etc. I do remember it very well . I had it with my son for the whole pregnancy from 5 w onwards until he was born ! And all day except while eating or sleeping. Every time I got pregnant after him (and miscarried ) I started feeling sick within days of conceiving. I must have been an exception... Can sympathise thought . I guess a lot of you are nearing your 12w scans, can't wait for it myself . Congrats to those who've had them already! We're 9 w in the beginning of this week. Just trying to pass time and hope we don't get any bad news from our surrogate in the meantime... She has her next appointment in a week and we're hoping to be able to have another scan around that time to check what's happening in there. Looked into travelling to Texas for the 12w scan and it doesn't seem that easy to do in the few days we have due to my husbands work commitments but we'll manage it somehow , I do want to be there! This whole surrogacy process is sooo weird. Specially since she's on another continent and we won't even see her more than a couple times during the pregnancy and then hopefully at the birth. I should ask her to take pictures of the growing bump later on like I did and email them to us. Feels unreal , wish I could be more involved but on the other hand it's probably better to protect myself from another disappointment if it once again goes all wrong... Can't help looking at baby clothes and thinking about names since we've been trying now for so long . We had trouble agreeing on a name for our son and he has 3 first names so if it's a boy it's going to be hard!

I do feel like I'm being tortured though . This waiting is hellish .
Hopefully I can report to you that everything's fine around end of oct!
I'll keep on checking this thread in the meantime and will keep you posted.
Also I finally managed to put myself on the bottom of the list on this page. Same date than you Cosmic! I think it'll end up being a few weeks earlier mid month though since she's having a c-section.

                                                                                              28th march newmummyvicky

Although this is my fourth pregnancy, it's my first time on mumsnet, so hope I have understood the abbreviations for everything!
I'm 10 weeks today with an unplanned pregnancy. Was in deep shock for first few weeks ( I am too old, how can an accident happen??!!) but have gradually got used to it and wanting to get past 12 weeks so I can start to relax.
I have just finished a degree and was job hunting, so the change in my life plan is HUGE! But my husband and daughters are delighted, so am sure all will be well :)

Thaleia · 26/09/2011 10:45

Happy Monday .... well.... maybe happy Tuesday tomorrow?!!

Public transport almost killed me this morning. Was trapped on the bus for 1hrs and it was stop. and go. stop. and go. stop. and go.

Thought the whole weekend about what happened to georgee & that it could be me. I'm so upset about it although it's "normal". It's just worrying that you can feel pregnant (= sick) and it's already over, no bleeding etc.. I only have my first scan in 2 weeks time and all I want is for time to go by quickly.

So in a way, happy Monday because yet another day goes by.

spannermary · 26/09/2011 12:03

Afternoon all. Been at GP this morning due to my newly acquired habit of puking all the time. (nice). Apparently my blood pressure has shot up and I have protein ++ in my urine. So along with vomiting, weight loss, exhaustion and headaches, GP decided to send me to EPAU. I'll let you know how it goes. Stressed doesn't even cover the half of it.

Wish me luck!
