Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

not gonna worry about it, have accepted that spotting is gonna be a regular thing for me Sad

and yes I also have a little mound coming through, had to revert to using a safety pin to hold work trousers together this morning!

Bearcrumble · 09/09/2011 11:25

I'm also still feeding morning and bedtime - boobs don't feel any bigger but nipples are sorer for sure. Don't know if that's increased sensitivity or just that DS is sucking harder because supply is down? Also I'm on progesterone pessaries - would they have any effect on milk supply?

I was planning to stop when DS was 2 but as that is around the time that new baby is due I think it would be too much for him to be shoved off the boob and have a new sibling to deal with so will tandem feed for a few months.

Have to say I am not enjoying breastfeeding at the moment. I think it is partly the discomfort but also something about the change in hormones as I don't get that relaxed oxytocin feeling any more, it used to be like breathing a big sigh and all the tension going out of me but now I just feel irritated (and then guilty for feeling irritated of course).

Sugar26 · 09/09/2011 12:31

saj I too have had to accept the spotting. I had it from week three to six, then at 6+3 I bled about a tbs of blood, then spotting for next 5 days, then nothing since...I'm now 10+2. Midwives have constantly reassured me that this is normal and that as bleed was around time period was due there is nothing to worry about. I have 12 week scan on 26th and am absolutely dreading it. I really don't remember it feeling this nerve racking last time! Hope it runs a lot more smoothly for you from now on.

Hi everyone ! I wanted to join the club since I think we're due on the 29.4. Just had a heartbeat on Wednesday but am on edge since we've had so many miscarriages in the past ... Just want to get to 12 weeks! Anyone else as anxious as me?

digitalgirl · 09/09/2011 14:47

nordicmom yes, I've had 4 early mc's so am desperate to get to 12 weeks. Are you getting an early scan to reassure you?

Nordicmom · 09/09/2011 15:10

So then you know how it feels ! I've got one 6 1/2 y son and have been trying for another since summer 2007. Had 10 early miscarriages (1 at 9 weeks after getting a heartbeat at 7 w). And after having all that and years of doctors and medications ( steroids) that ended up making me sick , we've actually had to go another route as far as pregnancy goes. So although we are hopefully now finally having another baby it's not me carrying it but a surrogate in America ( it is ours biologically). I wish I could be doing it myself but I did truly try and it just doesn't work out. So this pregnancy is so different and I still want to be able to talk to people who are having babies due the same time. It is rare to find people in my circumstance . We have had tests from 4 weeks on constantly and a scan at 5 w and the pregnancy was located and then now a heartbeat this week at 6 w 2d. I hope everyone is happy to have me here! it's bad enough not being able to be all proudly expecting and bonding with other moms in my everyday life. I feel the odd one out :(

mrsbrooks · 09/09/2011 15:12

Hi Rosie and everyone, I'm expecting my first on 6 April very excited and completely clueless on what to expect. Also very busy at work atm but feel I can't tell them yet as have only been there since April this year. Does anyone know your work rights etc? And is anyone else expecting there first? XxSmile

Saj30 · 09/09/2011 15:31

sugar26
After 2 internal scans, midwife, dr and nurses reassuring me that it happens... so there's nothing much I can say to that. Its still so scary, I dread going to the toilet :(

I have my 12 week scan on the 19th Sept, I know what you mean about dreading it, never before has time gone so slow!

I keep trying to reassure myself I still "feel" pregnant, if that makes sense, am very tempted to go and get another pregnancy test. Fingers and toes crossed for all of us

LaTristesse · 09/09/2011 16:16

Nordicmom, of course you're most welcome here! I take it you're not in the States? It must be incredibly difficult for you in so many respects... Do you get much contact with your surrogate? Do you get to see her as the pg progresses? Very happy to have you with us for the journey, maybe by listening to us moaning on you can feel like you're sharing those parts with us!

spannermary · 09/09/2011 16:48

Welcome all!

...I know what you mean about wanting to get to 12 weeks. I have an almost daily ritual that goes something like this:

'Ooh I've not felt too bad for the last couple of hours.'
'Oh crap - what if that's a bad thing?'
Pokes boob.
'Owww!'
Feels sheepish and a bit of a wally.

Anyone else taken to ridiculousness in these Oh-so-stressful times... :)

SavannahRose · 09/09/2011 17:09

Hey
I'm due 6th April 2012. Just had my beautiful baby girl 4 months ago so very shocked it's all happening again. Would like to hear from mums in similar positions as I am quite anxious....but excited!
I am currently very tired and feeling very sick :(
I am feeling ill all day and don't really have much of an appetite and wondered if anyone could suggest anything?
Thanks
Xx

Sugar26 · 09/09/2011 17:44

I am exactly the same saj. I am constantly worrying if I feel sick enough etc. Too much information is not a good thing and I have read way too many horror stories about the 12 week scan. I've stopped reading about it all now as I was just thinking about it constantly.

I've been trying to just get on with things but have been on annual leave for 3weeks so have had way too much time on my hands. Back to work on Monday so hopefully will have other things to think about.

Its such a shame that I can't just relax and enjoy these early days.

Hope that the next few weeks til scans pass quickly.

Latristesse, we live in England and are using a surrogacy agency in the US that helped us to find our lovely surrogate in Texas. We can talk to her and email her anytime. We've met her and her husband once a year ago in the beginning of the process and are hoping to go over for the 3 month and the 5 month scans and ofcourse the birth. I did have a normal pregnancy with my son so I know exactly what it's like to go through it all . Almost all my friends have 2-4 children by now and I do feel emotional seeing bumbs around me ! Where we live it's a real nappyvalley ...

kat2504 · 09/09/2011 17:59

spannermary If I stopped poking my boobs they wouldn't hurt at all! They only hurt because I keep prodding them ten times a day!

Nordicmom · 09/09/2011 18:55

I've been paranoid every time and analysing everything going on in my body whether it was by breasts hurting less or thinking why am I not more nauseous . My husband used to think I'm a bit crazy squeezing myself to see if they still hurt... It's just an anxious time the beginning of a pregnancy I find . I do think I wasn't quite so neurotic with my first pregnancy ( which doesn't make sense) but I guess that is because I've had problems with the other ones after it that made me more worried. I didn't have any tests before 13 w scan the first time and just the 20w scan after that before birth. I didn't really worry much after the 13 w scan and as soon as you feel the baby moving it's quite comforting . With me it was 16 w when I first felt movement . At the 20 w scan they can pretty much see that all is well and after that I was just hoping the baby wouldn't come out too early ! Funny how I still remember it so well even after 7 years :) Now this pregnancy is a total opposite , I feel completely out of control because I don't even know how our surrogate is feeling ! And I worry all the time it's not going work out again :(

Bearcrumble · 09/09/2011 19:00

Sympathy to those with spotting - I had intermittent bleeding (sometimes quite heavy) until 13 weeks with DS I had a subchorionic haematoma (blood clot between the sac and the wall of the uterus) that kept bleeding out. I know how horrid it is to have your heart constantly in your mouth about the bleeding and to dread going to the loo.

Nordicmum of course you are welcome. It sounds like it's been a difficult journey but I'm so glad you've found a way to have another baby.

Welcome to all the other new faces too.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/09/2011 19:06

Well SavannahRose there are a few of us with little DCs, but I think you win the prize for youngest! My DS is 11m, there are a few about the same as him and a few a little older.
I'll get some advice from my mum from you, theres only a year and 15 days between me and my sister :)

Btw second+ timers, I look about 6m preg!!! I'm convinced I'll get to the scan and they'll say I'm due next month or something!!!`

Nordicmom · 09/09/2011 19:12

Thanks to all of you for welcoming me to the club:) Feel like I need someone to talk to. I'll definitely will be checking in on you guys from time to time and posting updates as the pregnancy hopefully progresses and then in the spring we can celebrate the births!!!! Good luck to us all and fingers crossed. In the meantime I will remember to enjoy my little boy and give him extra hugs...

Saj30 · 09/09/2011 19:20

mrsbrooks im expect im first baby too. ive told one off my manager at work, she been so good and not told anyone!

You dont have to tell your employer by law till your 12wks, but you want to just tell them before its your choice, it case you feel bad or are sick at work!

let me know how you get on? x

kat2504 · 09/09/2011 22:39

Actually you can leave it till 25 weeks to tell employer, although i doubt anyone leaves it till then as you would be showing!

Nordicmom · 10/09/2011 09:14

georgee · 10/09/2011 09:17

Saj30 I had a morning recently where I had a whole baguette with jam for breakfast at about 7.30, then at 10.30 I needed something else so I had another baguette with a whole pack of bacon and tomatoes in it. Was hungry again half an hour later. It's my main symptom really - the trouble is though that I don't fancy 99.9% of what we have in the house when I'm starving - it's finding that one thing that I can stomach and that will keep the hunger at bay for a few hours more (ie a yogurt won't do!).

Completely agree with everyone on the 'do I still feel pregnant' stuff. Bloomin horrible, it messes with your head!! I've done my fair share of boob-poking. Be nice to go to sleep for a month and wake up for the scan (mine's on 12 October).

Right, better do some work (for that is why I am at my desk and DH is looking after DD!). Have lovely Saturdays everyone.
