Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Morning all! Had a rather horrible scare on thursday while on holiday in Edinburgh. Went to the loo while waiting for my scampi and chips to arrive and started bleeding rather heavily with some clotting. Ambulance called, a wait in the hospital and told to go back Friday morning as all of the scanning staff had gone home...

Passed an enormous clot that i was convinced was the baby that night. So, had an emergency scan yesterday morning only to see little Pip doing a dance and a nice strong heart beat. I had a heamotoma and as they can still see some bruising and blood around the sac will probably have another. Was so relieved I can't tell you.

So, am resting up this weekend now that we're home and catching up with the great British Bake Off!!

georgee · 10/09/2011 09:44

Oh Holly, how horrible. I've been in that very EPU myself (I live in Edinburgh) - sorry you had to wait for your scan, that must have been awful. They're good once you get in there though aren't they - and it's such good news that all is well. Smile Rest up and do nothing today! I do love a bit of theoretical baking!

Saj30 · 10/09/2011 11:28

Hi Holly
I know exactly how you felt, I was told by the scanner (not the right word I know) that she could see another area of blood, so to expect another bleed soon, looks like its started. The thing that annoyed me was that she didn't bother putting it in my notes so had I not mentioned it to the EPU nurse she wouldn't have known.

Yes do rest as much as you can, I went home to my mum and it worked wonders. :)

CarterGirl · 10/09/2011 11:58

Hi Saj30 and Hollyand BearCrumble (and everyone else!) - just wanted to chip in here as I too have had a subchorionic bleed. Spotted at 7 weeks (although I thought I was 6 weeks) and went to St Thomas' EGU (Emergency Gynaecology Unit) - they were great and scanned me. I saw the HB (weird but lovely. Weird I mean because it looked like a little seahorse and was quite intense realising there really is a little thing in there). The sonographer (I think the right word? - but scanner just as good! :)) had to ask if I was there for pain or bleeding as she couldn't see anything (I think) - and when I said 'Bleeding' she went on a little hunt (I think) and eventually said she could 'see something up by the fallopian tubes... quite common.. Don't have sex for a couple of weeks' (to be honest I was so overwhelmed that there was a HB I didn't really take it in). Noticed later that day on my scan report that she had put 'posterior subchorionic bleed noted' so googled it and started panicking... Went to GP on the Monday and told her I was pregnant (hadn't done it before then) and asked her what the deal was the the scb - she assured me it was common and that I might continue to see spotting etc. When I asked her how long I might expect it for she shrugged like 'how long is a piece of string?'
After that I had some brown discharge (sometimes yellowy - I scrutinised those knickers like you wouldn't believe! The things you do..) for about a week then it stopped, then a few days ago it started up again (just as I'd started to relax of course). As I am also in the 'no ms' camp I began to panic again and decided to go for a private scan. Seahorse much more babylike now - quite astonishing! Saw/ heard HB again. Cue major relief - but still no huge sobs (I wonder if I can't relax until the 12 week scan). The sonographer couldn't see any areas of bleed, so perhaps the scb has resolved itself, although she did say that the placenta was quite low and seemed to be draped over the cervix so... (not quite sure how the two things connect to a bit of spotting but again was so relieved I didn't really ask too many questions - must start being more on the ball while actually WITH medical professionals!)
Anyway, sorry for the long post. But am relieved there are a few of you out there who have also had the same thing, and also some with few symptoms. I have no ms, but I have tender boobs (I do the prodding as well!), eat-my-arm-off sudden hunger, I get tired, irritable and thirsty but apart from the thirst I can't tell if am just indulging what I think are pg symptoms when really I'm just being lazy and hungry and want any excuse to lie in bed and stuff myself...
Roll on 12 week scan on 26th! And hope you all have good weekends... This first trimester malarkey is tricky!

Snowy27 · 10/09/2011 15:03

Hi all
Just got back from an overnight stay in hospital- went in with pain and a bit of spotting on Thursday and seend home again, then it was worse last night so went back, got a UTI and an appointment at the EPAU on Wednesday- was a bit surprised I didn't get scanned today? The Registrar that was doing the ward round said 'come back in if the pain doesn't stop, because we can scan you if you come in as an emergency' but the whole reason I was asked to stay over night was so I could have a scan this morning! Oh well!
Hope everyone's ok, I'm off to have a nap as i didn't sleep a wink all night (kept rolling on my drip which didn't help!)

kat2504 · 10/09/2011 15:43

Gosh there has been a bit of drama going on. Glad it was good news holly and carter and good luck with your scan snowy, hopefully it is just a uti, they are very common in pregnancy.

Uglymush · 10/09/2011 20:11

Hi newmummyvicky I had to have an emergency scan on Wednesday so currently saying 10 weeks today, which is always what I have thought. I think I am due Easter Saturday (7th April)?? Still got my actual date scan on Friday so very excited.

Saj30 · 11/09/2011 10:30

7 days to go till my 12 week scan.... its gonna be a long week :(

Nordicmom · 11/09/2011 15:43

Oh you lucky people nearing your 12 w scans!!! We've got ages to go :( 5 more weeks at least ... I'm hoping we can be there as well ( since we are doing surrogacy and she is all the way in Texas). It should be school holidays then so hopefully we can workout the childcare here and go! I guess I'll just have to try to get from one week to the next and try not to obsess so much but I feel like there's been lots of scary stuff going on the board which makes me more worried! I hope everyone will be ok :)

georgee · 11/09/2011 16:25

Ah that must be hard-going Nordicmom, thinking of you. My 12w scan isn't until 12 October if that's any consolation! A month tomorrow.

SurprisEs · 11/09/2011 18:31

Hi everyone. Haven't been in the forum for a few dad I have been extremely depressed and going to bed as soon as I get in. My last day at work was Friday. It was the worst day ever.

In answer to your very kind posts all I can say is that I was there for 4 months and I had no warnings or disciplinaries. I'm not planning on going to court about the unfair dismissal. I feel bad because it let's him get away with it but I feel it could lead into me having a nervous breakdown.

The problem now is he is refusing to write a letter saying I've been sacked (which I need because I'll need benefits) and worse he is saying he won't pay me my deposit (£225) unless I sign a resignation letter. I refuse to do that! It's a step too far. I'm in pieces.

Hope everyones ok and their babies are ok.
Sorry for the late reply but I have been too low to think about anything but sleep.

mumofwilliam · 11/09/2011 22:05

suprises - that sucks - hope it resolves but would definately say you need proper advise even if it scares the guy into doing things properly!

had MW appt last week - very scared that have already put on 7lbs since 5 wks. and finally gave in and started wearing maternity jeans - forgot how comfy they are - got to love an elasticated waistband!

Also just looked after my newphew for the weekend - oh what on earth am i letting myself into with 2 under 2! My DS is soooo jealous - ah well he has 6 months to grow out of it....

hope everyone elses drama are over - we have our scan a week on tues. and am finally going to admit to work tomorrow - bit scared but can hardly fit in my uniform anymore so getting a bit obvious!

will stop waffling now and go for a sleep..

spannermary · 11/09/2011 22:11

Oh, SurprisEs, that's terrible. There's no way he should get away with this - but you are right to put your health first. Is there a friend/partner/colleague who can intercede for you?

I have no answers but didn't want your post to be left hanging. Be strong, for yourself & your baby - and do what your instincts tell you. And be proud of yourself for not signing that letter.

Your ex-employer sounds like a crook - and you're better than him.

As for benefits etc - I'm not the person to talk to - someone else will know more. I just wanted to offer a virtual hug.

All the best - and keep us updated. Spanner xx

Mackrelmint · 12/09/2011 10:13

oh SurprisEs, you poor love. I'm so sorry.

As spannermary says, your main priority has to be you and the baby so you have to just do what you feel is right for you, but I do really hope that someone can help you fight this bully and at the very least get your deposit back and the letter that you need.

hugs

Mackrelmint · 12/09/2011 10:22

Just going way back up thread to the bf conversation, as someone did ask - I actually stopped feeding DD a wwek ago, at 13.5 months. I had been finding it very uncomfortable for a couple of months; felt completely empty and got a nails-down-a-blackboard kind of feeling the whole way through. It obviously wasn't satisfying DD either, as there was a lot of pulling off and crying, chewing with teeth, hitting my chest etc. I think my milk supply must have just given out, possibly also changed taste, and obviously whatever hormonal stuff was going on really didn't suit me.

So, I just didn't offer any one night (we were down to 1 feed) and it's gone fine. She doesn't seem to have noticed. Am so relieved. I had planned to go up to 18 months but once it got painful and horrible I think it was best to stop.

My new symptom of the week is lower back pain. I thought this was meant to come much later on?! I had to keep stopping and sitting down/bending over yesterday, and was in a lot of pain all day. A bit better today but still achy.

Also, I haven't got the frequent weeing thing in the day, but am being woken up every night to go to the loo, which I only got really late on last time. Quite annoying.

Hope everyone else is well this Monday morning.

Thusnelda · 12/09/2011 10:43

Mackrelmint, I weaned my daughter at 18 months and was surprised how soon she forgot all about it! A week or two later and my breast was no more interesting than my bellybutton - considering it was the most important thing in the world to her!

SurprisEs, that boss of yours really is scum - what did he make you pay a deposit for in the first place? Maybe the Citizens Advice Bureau could help? Hope it resolves itself soon.

Empjusa · 12/09/2011 11:09

Is anyone else really struggling? I've had nausea so bad for so long now that I've lost over a stone in less than a month. :(

spannermary · 12/09/2011 11:44

Empusa, I go through phases - and have lost 4lb. My day today, for example has consisted of: Woke up. Got up. Felt rubbish. Burst into tears. Tried to get up again. Nearly threw up. Burst into tears again. Gave up. Emailed planning to school. Called in sick. Went back to bed - possibly for the day. Pathetic much?

Snowy27 · 12/09/2011 13:13

Sorry to hear you're feeling sick- I ran in sick to school as well today- feeling guilty but I think an overnight hospital say means you definitely don't have to go to work for a few days! Anitbiotics have yet to kick in and the pain killers aren't doing a lot, Mr S is threatening to take me back in later if I don't feel better, I just really don't want to have to go back to hospital, so am resting in bed drinking lots and convincing myself that I feel better! Hope everyone starts to feel better soon

spannermary · 12/09/2011 15:06

12 week scan on 29th September...I feel much better now! Wink

Mackrelmint · 12/09/2011 15:24

I rung hospital to try to get an appointment for booking-in/12 week scan this morning, but was told that it's unlikely I'll be accepted as I'm not in a 'preferred' postcode. Bit gutted, as it is the closest hospital to us by far - I would have been able to get there on foot in about 30mins I think. If they won't accept me, then I'll have to go several stops on the tube to get to the next nearest one. So, waiting to see what will happen with that...

(Nearest hospital btw is Queen Charlottes, West London. Anyone else in the area?)

Saj30 · 12/09/2011 15:25

I've stopped spotting... :)
yay!

spannermary · 12/09/2011 16:45

Yay!

cheaperthantherapy · 12/09/2011 16:51

SurprisEs I'm so sorry. You are right to focus on you and baby as a priority, i hope things get better for you soon.

Saj - great news!

Mackrel- I'm sw London. Had dd in St Georges, this time I've chosen Kingston - good feedback from nct girls :) some nct friends also had good feedback from c&w - would that work for you?

Out of curiosity is anyone having an elcs? Has anyone been trying to decide between that and a vbac? Had an emcs last time so in trying to make my decision...

LaTristesse · 12/09/2011 17:24

Good news Saj!

I thought you could choose where you had your baby these days, or does that only apply in certain areas?

I had to call and change my scan date today as I would have been 11+2 on the day it was scheduled for, the blurb from the hospital said they could do they Nuchal fold test any time from 11 weeks hence the early date for me, but the midwife said it should be 12 weeks. When I called the hospital they said it was an error on the paperwork and rescheduled me for a week later. Bit annoyed I have to wait another week, but if it means they can do the test properly I guess that's the main thing...
