Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

Oh Happy Xmas to all who may not make it back on here for the festivities!
Munz, I've said it before and will again, I highly recommend pethadine! (especially the after effects with the champers!) lol
Hi newgirl, nice to hear from you again!

Well I've just put dd for a nap, as she was getting very stroppy, and then decided to try and sort thru the baby clothes we have, argh! seem to have lots of 0-3, but nothing actually newborn, newborn! and from what I remember I should have, but then it was 2 years ago now! so girls, remind me, do they do basic newborn, then 0-3, I know they do premature, but that's not what I'm after, I just need to make sure cause I'm going loopey!!! I do recall having a nice really small coat for dd, when we came out of hosp, which I can't bloomin find, I have found a 0-3 snowsuit, which looks huge! lol eh looks like I may have to go shopping in the sales after all!

munz · 23/12/2005 14:19

yes they do do NB clothes - I ahve a shed load of NB and 0-3 stuff, not much 3-6 thou.

Marneychristmas · 23/12/2005 14:45

Frizbe, its best to buy some tiny baby clothes (these go up to 7.5lb but i found fit dd up to 9lb) newborn always seems big for a newborn unless you have a 10lb baby. Ive bought i few tiny baby grows from tesco as they are cheep and they are only in them for a week or so.

Has anybody else been having braxton hicks? Ive been in agony this morning, thought i was going into labour, cant remember having them this bad with dd.

RosiePosie · 23/12/2005 14:53

Happy Christmas everyone - although I'm around the whole time, so might pop in to see if anyone else is about. I feel totally and utterly shattered and there is still so much to do!

My plans for the birth are to do it exactly like I did last time - at home, with TENS which I loved, and G&A which I really really loved, kneeling on the floor either over the sofa or a bed ( depending on what time it is and where the children are ). If we had a spare room somewhere, I'd probably hire a hot tub type birthing pool, but I can't be doing with the hassle of temporary inflatable one, and the only place is our living room, so a bit crowded really.

I had a shot of pethidine during my first labour and HATED it, I kept falling asleep between contractions, only to be woken up with huge pains everytime a contraction came - it gave me no pain relief whatsoever. So, it's really hard to recommend stuff to other people because what works brilliantly for some, doesn't for others. Have to admit - I'm not looking forward to giving birth again, I need to start mentally preparing myself for it. . but I'll get Christmas and New Year out of the way first!

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 23/12/2005 21:35

Aww RP sorry to hear you and pethadine didn't get on, it was a life saver for me, as the G&A made me barf!
Marne n Munz, thanks for that I thought they did, silly preggy brain eh! so where on earth have all my tiny baby things gone???? I'm sure I didn't give them away......argh! mind you breast pump also still MIA so its the loft again for dh soon!

RosiePosie · 24/12/2005 08:17

What's your due date Friz? Is it the 28th Feb? Ah, just checked the stats - the 27th. Mine is the 28th based on last LMP or the 26th based on scan measurements, not that it makes much difference. It was the epidural I had first time around that made me barf continuously, I remember projectile vomiting in front of a group of Med students who had just walked in, ha ha ha!

OP posts:
Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 24/12/2005 09:07

lol RP did you get them
Only had two med students in with me, and one of those was my birthing partner! although both of them were at 1st births, as was I! didn't see either of them looking too horrified, so can't have been that bad.....
Yep edd is now 27th! argh! not long.....
Happy Xmas to all x

laundrylover · 24/12/2005 10:08

Happy Christmas to one and all and get yer feet up!!
Went out last night and had a Baileys - naughty but bloody good! Did me good to catch up with people I don't see so often and makes up for being stuck at home tonight although filling the stocking etc. will be fab. Doing the whole mince pie, carrot, glass of milk thingy too!
My friend in London had her second girl on Weds - still awaiting the full details but 5 hours all in sounds grand to me!
Catch up after the hols....

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 24/12/2005 11:17

munz · 24/12/2005 23:17

Cadmum · 24/12/2005 23:19

Happy Chrismas from New York. Our mini-move went well and we are looking for a place to rent... Thinking that staying here and being with DH is better than being alone in Ottawa.

COPPERfeelunderSantasTOP · 25/12/2005 16:33

Hope you're all busy enjoying Christmas.

Don't scare me with talk of twins! I had my 26wk check-up last week. I'm now measuring at 30wks. The MW has said she may refer me for another growth scan next month just to make sure everything's okay. She said that she's fairly sure that there's only one baby though, just that it might be a bit of a whopper. Eeeek!

LOL at the Xmas jokes.

ChristmasgiftCATJalogue · 25/12/2005 20:24

Merry Christmas everyone!

CT strangely enough I measured 30wks too at my 26wk check up last week. I pointed out that I have at least 4cms of flab.(Sorry!) Talk about pinch more than an inch

I've decided to go with an independent midwife so I could be looking at a home birth too. Scary!

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 26/12/2005 21:34

Hi all, hope you had fabby Xmas's, we seem to be sinking under a mountain of toys, and even bump has a present too! and there's 9 weeks to go there!! Have rather un subtly requested practical presents like nappies and wipes from a room full of relatives today! to hopefully prevent a vat of unused newborn or 0-3 clothes this time!!

Cadmum · 27/12/2005 01:12

Hello! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
Friz: I know what you mean about practical gifts for the LO but since this will be our fourth I suppose that we will be lucky to receive anything at all!!

I feel rather like the Michelin Man today with swollen legs and hands. I am hoping beyond hope that this is not the beginning of PIH again (had it with DS1 9 years ago...).

New York is truly the city that never sleeps. Everthing was even open yesterday!

Cadmum · 27/12/2005 01:15

Cadmum

munz · 27/12/2005 11:04

munz · 27/12/2005 11:04

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 27/12/2005 16:08

Hi all, Caddy, hope your less swollen by now, hope its not the start of anything like you say, would be a bummer.....so jealous of you living in NYC! what a fab city! really hope your enjoying living with dh again, and you all had a lovely Xmas
Anyone else got snow? we have had it on and off all day, keeps melting between bouts at the moment, but am holding on for a good overnight batch sledges at the ready for the kids and dh!!
We've had to brave the shops today, as were supposed to be going to BIL's for a few days, but they're all ill!! so postphoned (SP) for now, so have been naughty and brought a few newborn sleepsuits, and two tops in 0-3, plus trousers to match really hope this is another girl now! or its a very pink boy

newgirl · 27/12/2005 20:38

hello everyone

I had some mulled wine and some champagne and I feel soooo much better!! Got a lovely new top in the sales which is non-maternity but is wrap around so I am stretching it to the max today!

i haven't bought anything for baby yet - just for me me me! oh not quite true - I did buy a lovely pink photo album in paperchase!

not sure what the birth plan is - I will see what 36 week scan says about c-section. If I go for a natural delivery ohmygod I will have whatever is going!!!

munz - do you think the new doctor who is as good as the lovely christopher?

munz · 27/12/2005 22:12

ng - do u really have to ask that? althou i've been big on Vin Diesel this past 2/3 weeks - hmmmmmm!

laundrylover · 28/12/2005 14:30

Sipping Lemsip and clutching soggy hanky whilst catching up with you all. We've had a fab Xmas and Tilly really got into it all - she was so impressed that the mince pie/carrot and milk had been eaten!!! House like a toy shop now!
Despite a stinking cold and Pete having a tummy bug on Boxing Day I haven't cried once so fingers crossed I'm out of the doldrums! ((((hugs for you Munz))))))
Went to see newish baby yesterday but couldn't cuddle him due to dripping nose, he was very cute though...
My friend in London has called her little girl Matilda same as mine which is fine by me. Will phone for birth details as soon as can hold a conversation without the nose blowing!
