Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 28/12/2005 15:10

fingers x'd your cold is better soon ll
Munz, I got a lovely vin diesel collection for Xmas from dh and then I had an even better dream about him last night only to be disturbed by dd waking me up when it got to a really good bit, pah!
Intresting question new girl, I wasn't convinced that he was going to be much good, but after watching Dr.W the other night, I'm reversing my judgement, he may even end up being better

InternationalGirl · 28/12/2005 18:47

Hi! Can I join you? I usually hang out on the sn boards although haven't been on the internet much at all lately.

I am 27 wks pg with #3. I have 2 dds - ages 11 and almost 6. Due March 25th and we are 99% sure this one is a boy - seen his bits on the scans at more than one visit.

Suffering a little more with this one - not feeling as young as I used to be - now 37. SPD is causing me some trouble but pleased we're into the 3rd trimester and that Christmas has passed so we can focus on getting ready for this little guy.

I have enjoyed trolling through the thread but geez - I've got a lot to catch up on with you guys. Anyway, just wanted to say 'hi' and introduce myself for any of you who haven't seen me round.

Hi Coppertop - how you doing? Looks like we might have our babes within days, perhaps even hours of each other...

Cadmum · 28/12/2005 19:26

Welcome to the insanity InternationalGirl. Congratulations on making it to the third trimester. I don't envy you the SPD. Hope your last 12 weeks or so go quickly.

Hello to everyone else. Still trying to find a flat/appartment and sort out all of the details of our insane lives but having fun in New York while we are here.

InternationalGirl · 28/12/2005 19:45

Thanks Cadmum - hope the flat/apartment hunting goes well and you all get settled in well before baby arrives.

laundrylover · 28/12/2005 20:11

Welcome Intergirl - a few of us have spd but touch wood mine has really settled down of late as my bump has finally appeared.
Cadmum I am very jealous of you being in NY, the sticks are a bit boring especially when snotty and waddling!! Could really do with a good coffee shop in our town as smoky greasy spoons are not so appealing!

Cadmum · 28/12/2005 20:24

Where are you, laundrylover? I am amazed by how New York is so vibrant and friendly... Never having been here until last week. Our children are loving every minute of it!

munz · 28/12/2005 22:58

lol@friz and the requests - yes i've been asking mum this week for little tidbits and giving hints ie we need bedding but no clothes unless it's 3-6 or older! lol. We have the cradle now and are gettin the matress on friday - thankfully it's more or less standard size (6cm too long) so we'll have to pad the foot end of the matress with a blanket or something. so come on thn spill it what vids did u get? althou DH did let me buy Cronicles of riddick and the pacifier to add to my growin VD collection! lol. ooh I luv em rough and ready! lol. he also brought me take that's album - which amazed me tbh! lol. bless.

IG - ello and welcome honney. course u can join us, will add u to the stats when I get a mo. lol - don't worry bout catchin up - just pick it up as u go along! lol. sorry to hear aboutt he SPD - I think it's rosie that's suffering as well from that (not to mention a few other girls) still 2 months hopefully! bloody hell! lol.

caddy - how r u doing? hope NY is going well.

best go DH coming up the stairs! lol.

munz · 28/12/2005 22:59

ooh cad's any fave areas of NY it's always good for us to look as well for u! (not that I don't love house hunting! lol)

Cadmum · 29/12/2005 04:35

I really can't decide where we want to live. Don't really fancy a long commute for DH but Manhattan is really expensive unless you find the right place.

We thought about living in Brooklyn but I am not convinced that this is the right choice either. How do 'normal' people make these decisions?

munz · 29/12/2005 10:08

lol - right so manhattan we're looking at then i'll have a look see for u! (ooh it's fab thinking about what u cna't afford! lol)

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 29/12/2005 11:53

Hi to Intgirl, welcome
Cadmum, I'm still an over the river girl, so I'll vote for Montclair, NJ, good schools you know! very good bookshop, nice coffe shop too plus Ikea not far away in Elizabeth and only half hour drive into port authority bus station. Mind you if I was looking to live in Manhattan I'd probably go for.....oh I don't know, I may have to think about that a bit...will let you know tho! Brooklyn's not too bad these days and not sure about NY State as have mainly only driven thru it on way to places!

Munz, now have Chronicles, Pitch Black, Dark Fury (Cartoon) Pacificer, XXX and The Fast and the Furious

Righty off into town to get dd some pullups as she's totally lost the potty training thing over the Xmas period, think its all too much to think about for her at the mo, she seems to be doing speech in sentances instead???
Then off to see Kong this evening, as dd being babysat, so taking ss for an outing!

romilly · 29/12/2005 13:36

welcome to the thread int'girl

now dropping in to say happy new year to everyone! sorry i have hardly been around, but you know what xmas is like.
cadmum: very envious of you being in NY now, must be great at christmas. last time i was there was feb and it was freeeeeeeeeezing cold, but fab anyway. you are used to canada so you can cope! i would live in manhattan if i were you - but then again with four kids you may not be able to get the space you need. all my friends in manhattan live in shoeboxes, lol. i like tribeca loft apartments

catch up with you all later x

newgirl · 30/12/2005 12:42

hello international girl!

hi cadmum - ooh new york is so cool!! lovely galleries, restaurants etc lucky you. Its drizzly and cold here yippee

friz - i thought doctor was ok but not as saucy as christopher. Not discovered the joys of vin deisel yet!

my dd has chickenpox so I have had a mad panic asking my parents if i have had it or not. Dad is sure I have, mum is not so sure. Now I feel a bit poorly I am not sure if it is about to get me, or a cold !(no spots apart from usual selection!!) Apparently its really dodgy to get it when pregnant so watch out ladies!! (if you have had it already no problem)

We are a bit stuck in as quite a few of our friends kids haven't had it and are due to start nursery soon so don't want it at the mo and we need to keep her away from shops/cafes so its a bit boring really. We are taking it in turns to do things but that means one of us is stuck in a lot with fed up toddler. We have taken her out for rainy walks as noone else seems to be about so we can't contaminate them!! Oh well, hope it goes soon

JackFrostStini · 30/12/2005 15:43

Hi all - wow I have had a lot to catch up on. Glad it sounds like you all had good Christmases. Anyone else have old ladies clucking round them going "ooh - a Christmas baby - how lovely". Then jaws hitting floor when I tell them 12 weeks to go!. Had m/w appt on Wed but could not do my bloods as the hospital that tests would be closed! Got to go back and have them in 3 weeks instead. She said I was measuring more like 30 wks than 28 and that the baby was head down but spine against mine and all limbs against my tummy (which explains the rib kicking internal bruises!) Also had a bit of sugar in wee but think that was mainly Thorntons..
V of Cadmum in NY - sounds fantastic - glad you made the move and hope you are having fun househunting.
Friz - will def be up at J.28 Next clearance shop! Trouble is - we are having a surprise and want to buy lots once it is born so can do the blue/pink thing! Have enough beige/white/cream etc. to get us through the first few days. Got new nightie & jim jams ready for hospital too but need to buy a bag and pack it!
Got lots of pressies for bump - mainly kitting out nursery and we finally ordered the furniture yesterday! DH made final decision and went for the most expensive - typical of him. He did ask the store manager what they could do as we were buying a full range and she threw in 200 quids worth of extras! Was surprised but then if you don't ask, you don't get. (Mamas & Papas in case anyone wants to try the same thing)
Last update is I had my 4-D scan on the 22nd so played the DVD for the family on Christmas Day. Both Grannys-to-be loved it. Quite surreal to watch telly and think that is inside me though!
Anyway I have rambled enough - going to have a nice cup of tea now - Happy New Year in advance in case peeps are not logged on in next couple of days

romilly · 30/12/2005 19:44

jackfrost - yes! i had a few jaw drops too from people thinking i was due any minute, lol. and the other one i keep getting is "is it twins?" !! cheek. lucky you getting £200 worth of freebies - you must have spent a fortune to get that though! i have also finally started babyshopping - i love it got the cot and the changer and drawers ordered. going for a mamas & papas quattro travel system i think, anyone ever had one of these? also do you buy just a few newborns sleepsuits and more of the 0-3 mths clothes or lots of both??? (1st timer and clueless as you can tell)
another thing i'd love to know is how many sheets and blankets you need?

happy new year to all, xxxx

munz · 30/12/2005 20:33

ooh friz - snap we have the same apart from the cartoon one.

rom - i'm intrested as well on sheet/blankets DH recons we have more than enough - but we only have 4 cot bed sheets and about 5 blankets, i'm sure we need more (also have 2 sleeping bags thou) can't help out on the pram thou i'm afraid.

ordered out matress today for the crib - it's about 4cm too short on the lenght but we were going to pad it out. ooh and apt yesterday - he's doing well still about 1cm over what he should be but in the grey line. v storng heart again - mum heard it this time she was v impressed it was so strong. by my personal chart thou i'm measuring 32 wks not 30 any one else reached 32cm on the bump?

alos found out my friend is 8 weeks PG today as well - well she think's it's 8 weeks. so I have a PG buddy at last! lol.

anyhow was only a quick stop in have a good new year everyone.

romilly · 30/12/2005 23:26

happy new year munzie hun sounds like you have got plenty of cot sheets and blankets, i have only got a couple. i suppose better too many than too few, mind you i was getting carried away on buying the cute stuff - babygros and booties etc. and forgot about all the practical things, lol

poppyh · 31/12/2005 14:43

Hi all,
Just thought i would quickly pop by to say happy new year to all!
Waiting now till decorations are down so I caqn start getting things ready for this new baby.Getting quite exciting now!!
Anyway, speak to you all in 2006.
Take care

laundrylover · 31/12/2005 17:37

Happy New Year everyone - let us know how much alcohol you all sneak in tonight!
Re sheets and bedding - I have hardly any - only one sheet for my cradle and a few 'holey' blankets. Managed fine last time. If you are using real nappies you can stick bedding in with them anyway. Do get plenty of Muslins (or Muslims as they call them at nursery in all ignorance!!!)/old towels/terry nappies as they are a life saver. I hated putting a tiny baby onto a cold change mat and they often wee too!
Off to get Tilly to bed at Mum's and then going to a get together for silly games.

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 31/12/2005 19:20

Agree with ll, muslins are a lifesaver, or at least a clothes saver get a good supply, we managed on two bottom sheets and two top sheets last time, then when dd was big enough moved onto grobag, far less worry about overheating and her slipping under/throwing off covers! plus it keeps em on their backs
Rom, I'd go for about 7 newborn sleepsuits, that covers leaky nappies and time to get em in and out the wash again then go for larger stuff, don't bother with owt else in newborn, as you'll hardly take them out of the sleepsuits, bar nappies n bath (or is that me being incredibly lazy!)

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 31/12/2005 19:20

Oh and Happy New Year to all

munz · 01/01/2006 10:44

ood morning everyone and a hapy new year! our babies will be born in the year of the dog! woohoo! lol.

NG - shame on u girl not discovering VD - here u go just for u, so u all know who we're on about! we have vin 1 vin 2 or vin 3 hmmm soo yummy! lol. def not sure on the new dr. althou I did miss the first half hour of it. apparently they kiss in this one! sorry top hear DD has CP. isn't it ok thou once the spots are out and non contagious (sp)? hopefully both u and DH have had them, dad had shingles a few years back, was v nasty for him was off work for about 6 weeks.
Jack - not having the xmas baby bit - but am having lots of the now u're PG with a bump it's open season on touching it! every man and his dog's wanting a touch at the mo! - and i'm not a touchy person at all! in fact quite the opposite! lol. u lucky thing having £200 of extras! lol. when's it all being delivered? I can't wait for mum/dad to go so I can get the nursery ready - the comp's still in there, clothes are shut away as is all accessories etc! I feel sooo unprepared, but do have loads of big knickers to wear! lol.

LL - I managed half a glass if lambrini (aka flavoured lemonade!) with lemonade and was sooooo tired! lol - tucked up in bed by 12.20am! lol.

Friz - don't think it's lazy - that's one of my key q's actually the whole outfits v baby grows etc, I was thinking baby grows in doors and outfits if we're going out visitin or something? (or is a cardi over the baby grow better?) we've got a tonne of the baby grows - in a way i'm hoping Jake will be a sicky type so all the clothes get used but also not cos I don't wanna be changing him all the time.

lol rom - u should see our baby clothes wardrobe! far tooo many clothes, I just hope the hospital didn't get it wrong! lol. we have tonnes of NB and 0-3 with a few 3-6 so mum's under orders now to tell everyone no clothes unless it's bigger than 3-6! lol - might be tempted to hint about some other stuff as well - (well we did in a round a bout way with bedding) it would apprear we've aquired 3 extra fleecy blankets at least! lol.

cads - still looking on manhattan for u - the prices are sooo expensive! lol. I had no idea, will try to find something reasonable thou! lol.

anyhow best get down top the old ppl! lol. ooh going off the name Jake as well - any suggestions? I do like harvey loads as well - how to convince DH of that cos he doesn't like it?? might wait till he's here and see whaht he looks like!

Marne · 01/01/2006 12:40

Happy new year evryone!

Feeling realy down and blue at the mo, planed on sorting out all the baby bits from the loft and dd's room this week as i have had a few days off work but hav'nt got round to doing it. Just had a massive argument with dh about it as he hasnt offerd to help. Realy want to get it all sorted as i have a feeling the baby might come early ( will be late now ive said that). Also i've been having realy bad braxton hicks, realy thought i was going into labour yestaday, feeling very tierd and fed up, cant wait to start maternity leave so i can sit on my bum all day.

Anyway hope you are all well and not feeling too tierd.

Bought some realy good bargins for the baby in the sales, next sale was excellent and just bought a baby gym from argos online half price.

coppertop · 01/01/2006 13:08

Happy New Year, everyone!

I surprised myself by managing to stay awake until midnight - helped by the stupid sods across the road who got their times mixed up, set off all their fireworks at 11.50pm and had nothing left for midnight. I could just imagine what happened:

A: "Ooooh! Only 10 minutes to go!"

B: "10 seconds? I'd better light the fireworks then."

A: "Nooooooo! 10 more MINUTES!"

A: "Eh? I can't hear you over the fireworks."

I hope everyone's doing okay.

Helllooooooooo InternationalGirl! I haven't 'seen' you on here for ages. I hope you've all settled in after the big move. xx

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 01/01/2006 15:46

Munz, thanks very much for the new year vin pics! particularaly like No1 and droooool
See how it goes with the baby clothes, I just remember being to knackered to do anything else bar baby gros for the 1st 6 weeks and as all the mite did was eat and sleep with the odd bout of yelling, it didn't seem fair to mess about with clothes! oh and then we ended up with a bloomin pavlik harness on (for dody hips) and that was the end of any 0-3 and 3-6 trousers anyway (and you try getting skirts or dresses in those sizes for a winter baby, ha!) at least we'll be heading into the spring ranges this time round if we do need another harness on our bubba (fingers x'd not, but not counting chickens) will be odd if we don't actually I'll have a full length baby on my hands as the harness dd had to wear hooked her legs up and pinned them into place, so never had a wriggly baby as she was stuck

Well done on staying awake coppertop, we just managed it, booted ss into bed at 5 past! much to his disgust, these 7 year olds eh! and passed out ourselves!

Marne, hope the braxtons settle down, a bit painful 2nd time around aren't they? lets try and cook that baby for a bit longer now!
