Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

I've heard bad things about Two Left Feet too, although never used them.

Glad it already has a bad reputation RP.They must be bad!!
Just got in from outdoor carol service.DD had a mental meltdown when I started queing for her to see Santa. She was petrified!
Came back early as it was freezing!

munz · 11/12/2005 17:47

never heard of them tbh. but will stear clear.

am now suffering feeling v sick after dinner - or that might be to do with teh 4 bags of hula hoops I had! does anyone know I was craving a lot of ready salted ones all 4 bags were this - normally I don't have much salt - only what's in fod (don't add it and certianly don't eat more than 1 bag of asorted crisps) should I worry about the amount of salt?

spent the avo watching greys anatomy - and I still don't knwo the answer to my quesiton - does the hottie to back to his wife/meradith?

ChristmasgiftCATJalogue · 11/12/2005 21:49

Hiya all. Just checking in.
Munz, like you I don't add salt to food, but I found that if I cut down on crisps etc when I was pg I got really bad cramp in my calf. I did read somewhere its connected but I don't know how true that is.
Got a new pushchair at last-well my mum & sister found it for me! It's a M&P pliko pramette in retro sport . It was reduced to £210 in John Lewis cos it was ex-display. They phoned me up & told me I should have it!
Fairly certain I have spd too. It started in my bum but now has moved to the front.Don't get out much now cos I can't push the double buggy & 2 toddler on reins is "interesting" . Fortunately dd1 being that much older (10) means she's able to help- what a star!

chjlly · 11/12/2005 21:54

Sorry am hijacking a little!
Catj - Cramp is conected to low salt levels - I should do something about that as I just scared the parents screaming due to cramp
You haven't got 2 on reins as they are here!
you have to admit it the pram is fab & we saved you all that treking around the shops!
I'll leave you alone now

munz · 11/12/2005 22:46

ooh thanks girls that's intresting to knoow - and here was me blaming DH taking up all the bed space for my cramps! lol - have taken to drinking about 9pm (juice that is) and touch wood all's well now.

best get off. riddicks on again - never get bored of that film! lol.

cat - glad u got ur pram, sorry aboutt he spd.

RosiePosie · 12/12/2005 07:55

Hey Catj - I'm not getting out much either -pretty much housebound now apart from the school run. Hey ho, only two and a half months to go!

OP posts:
munz · 12/12/2005 08:09

rp - sorry about ur SPD - as u say only 2 months to go - hopefully! and if you think, it's december and you wouldn't really want to be out in this cold weather, so that's one plus (even if there's far more negs)

when is it this whole PG insomnia kicks in, i've not slept really for the past 3 nights - and I think i'm suffering the tiredness all u girls had in the first trimester - and have u guys noticed how big ur bump's getting? mine's so big I can hardly bend over properly!

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 12/12/2005 09:38

Hi all, glad you all appear to have had good weekends
I had my 1st bout of cramp on Sat pm, so can sympthasie with any sufferes, OUCH!

Catj 2 on reins, lol, rather you than me, one is farrrrr bad enough!

New Girl, where'd you go, was it nice and hot, take it you had a good time!

Jackstini, grrr at your co's pants maternity pkg, re the childcare, look at them all, different things suit different people/babies, think you just have to go with what ever the baby n you are happiest with!
Was it you looking for furniture, don't know if these guys have anything?
kidzdens

Munz, if they give others a payrise whilst your on maternity, they have to give you one too, by law! as your technically still at work!

RP re fainting, and aww re dd running away from Santa, sure mine will do the same if I try to take her! although she does keep telling me 'Mummy Santas coming, presents' bless.....

Rom, thanks for the reminder, have just rung up and booked my test! GP's had diab, so have to get proper test at hospital done, booked for next Tue.....nothing to eat from 10pm night before, have to be there for 2 hrs.....argh!
also no tips re buggies/systems, just get what you can afford! generally once baby graduates to a bigger car seat, you'll end up buying a cheapy lightweight space saver buggy tho! so don't go ott!!

newgirl · 12/12/2005 21:42

Hi everyone!

Not much to report except that we went to Morocco!! It was very exciting - I had wanted to go for years and thought that it was 'now or never' with new baby on the way. It was only 4 hours on plane, lovely accom and food - very sunny and not too much hassle. Cornwall for us next year I think!

rom - i have a thought on buggies - we got a mamas and papas one last time and I reckon i would do it differently if I had my time over again - I think I would buy the best maclaren I could afford - one that is suitable from birth that reclines a lot. They are light, fit in car and you will use it until aged 4. The bigger buggy combos are too heavy by about age 1 and you will have to buy a maclaren or similar anyway! I will use my mamas again as we have it already.

cots etc - we were given a posh one that looks fab 4 years on so if you are having more than one kiddie it might be worth the expense. Cot beds are good if you plan to have 1 kiddie - if you have two then one will move into a big bed about the time new baby is due to go into cot anyway.

munz - i can't bend over either! I am having lots of trouble putting boots on and the other day dh and dd had to help me get them off!

RosiePosie · 13/12/2005 08:23

Wow, Morocco sounds fabulous newgirl - I'm very jealous!

I agree about the buggies - first time around we had a big travel system, although we didn't have a car at the time and used it to transport our shopping back from the supermarket, so it was useful for something! We got a Maclaren by six months though. Second time around I used nothing but a sling for the first four months and then a suitable Maclaren (We're still using the car seat bit from the travel system for baby no. 3 though!). When dd was about one though I was doing the daily school run and bought a lovely big second hand Zooper with a rear facing seat- it was huge and didn't fit in the boot, but it was my "walking pushchair" - great for all the hills and chatting to dd at the same time. The Maclaren is our "boot of the car" pushchair and gets used loads too. This time I have a P&T's - the most compact double I could find!

munz · 13/12/2005 08:53

yay had a good nights sleep! yay!! lol. (the key - go to bed later so u're zonked out! lol.

28 week bloods today - apt at 9.30 so will let u know how i go, it's on the maternity ward - can u beleive it 28 weeks already how did it go so quickly girls?

JackFrostStini · 13/12/2005 10:02

Munz - hope your bloods went ok and you didn't hear too much screaming in the maternity unit! Know what you mean about the big bump and insomnia - probably connected. At my aquanatal class yesterday there was a girl due tomorrow and she was only a couple of inches bigger than me!
Friz - thanks for furniture link - dh has got tomorrow off so we are going nursery shopping!
Newgirl - Morocco sounds fab you lucky girl. Have had to buy some easier to put on footwear - dh is sick of tying my trainers. Didn't tell him he will soon have to help me put my socks on too.
Ouch to those with SPD - good excuse for no work & more relaxing I say

LizzylouDonkey · 13/12/2005 11:45

HI all

Juyst spent ages catching up with thread as we had computer probs last week and I couldn't log on.
Have had midwives appointment this monring, they couldn't get bloods so I have to go back this pm. I was right about my huge belly, the MW said my bump measures as for 31/32 weeks not 28 so they are going to check the bloods (if they ever get it!) for diabetes. I am not too bothered, I am a big girl and Ds was 8lb 13oz so was never going to have a tiddler...may be all water, but we shall see!
Hope all are wellxxx

laundrylover · 13/12/2005 16:20

Hi All,

Been to Edinburgh for the wekkend and just caught up on the thread. The distant friends we stayed with were a real pain and bicker all the time so it wasn't the best couple of days. Anyone else think it's not on to eat four advent chocs in front of a toddler and not share???
Following the theme of 'baby stuff' we were given most of ours but I did buy an ex-display Urban Detour off the market and love it. Great for canal towpaths and cobbled hills! However when we went backpacking round Argentina this year we bought a lightweight fold up thingy (flea market again) and that lives in the car now as Detour is HUGE!
Glad there are a few 'no salters' out there! We bought a salt grinder 10 years ago and I have just had to refill it! Loving my crisps though!!
Munz - is there any way that we can fix the stats in a box at the top as I can't keep up who everyone is!!
By the way, just to give you all a laugh my boobs are now 38J!!!!!

LizzylouDonkey · 13/12/2005 16:22

Backpacking round Argentina with a toddler...?
You are a star!
Agree with you, not on for your friends to eat chocs in front of your child and not share, they'd have no choice with Harry I'm afraid!

laundrylover · 13/12/2005 16:25

We went for 3 weeks in Feb and it was great - highly recommended! We're thinking of going round the National Parks this year in the US and getting a camper van. Reckon it would be easiest whilst this new one is still on the boob but we'll see how we coping!

LizzylouDonkey · 13/12/2005 16:26

Blimey! I thought Centerparcs looked like hard work! We had some great holidays pre-DS but since we have been very safe and stuck to in-laws caravn in North Yorks! Feel v boring now!

laundrylover · 13/12/2005 16:39

Hey this one was conceived in the in-laws caravan in Lancs!! Big fan of Centreparcs too and Pete's family are planning a big trip there but I am pushing for a date after I pop so that I can go riding and get in the hydro therapy pool and sauna!
By the way my friend had a baby last Thurs, a little boy with no name! All went well with gas and air but she had to have a spinal block and a team of docs to get the placenta out.
He cried when I was on the phone and my tummy went all funny! They are in Hull so think we will go over between Xmas and New Year after the initial influx of visitors which all gets a bit too much.

LizzylouDonkey · 13/12/2005 16:46

Hate to say this LL, but this one was conceived in the in-laws caravan in Yorks! Must be something about them!

laundrylover · 13/12/2005 16:50

Keep 'em rockin'!!!
Tilly was asleep outside the window too - how naughty!!

LizzylouDonkey · 13/12/2005 16:58

Very bad TV that week!
We decided we 'd have a go at trying for another one and bam!

romilly · 13/12/2005 19:14

lol @ lizzylou and laundrylover

thanks so much jackfrost, friz, catj and newgirl and munz for all the great tips on buggies. very useful info for a first-timer like me. was in peter jones looking at buggies on sat. and it seemed like everyone in chelsea buys bugaboos and nothing else! mr. rom said no way, just in principal! he called them "poncy"! so it looks like we will go with your recommendations - probably mamas & papas or urban detour or maclaren. they all seem like fairly safe bets.

only have 8 days left of work (sorry munz, i know i keep rubbing it in but just think you will be earning money still while i am getting broke, lol)

can sympathize with the insomniacs here, i keep waking up for a few hours around 3 am, and my mind starts racing so cannot get back to sleep. annoying little habit.

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 13/12/2005 20:19

Newgirl Morocco, wow I'd love to go (on the list, on the list!)

LL, lol at your boobs, mine went huge last time, but this time, they're loitering on the smaller side at the mo....plenty of time left tho!

Lizzylou hope all is ok with the bloods

Munz, how was the maternity ward then? howcome you had to go there for bloods?

Well I've spent 3.5hrs in the hairdressers today not my normal girl, who usually takes 2 to do a cut and colour, but boy do I look fab! (even dh agrees!) now have movie cut hairstyle, until I have to wash it and do it myself, when it'll all go to pot again....

munz · 14/12/2005 08:12

friz - I ahve no idea why I had to go there, it's where they do our 28 week ones - wish I didn't bloody go thou, had a student M/W - DH is v anti student m/w's esp for the birth incase somehting goes wrong, but as he wasn't there and was a routein check (and they need to learn) I said it was ok no probs, anyhow 3 times I was stabbed for blood 3 lol, she kept loosing my veins! lol. (apparently I have slippery ropey ones??) - althou the nice young man down stairs in the blood dept gets it out no prob with no buises! lol. anyhow all's well, Jake's measuring perfect size, was told not to worry about him being on the big side (he was 1cm over last time) as DH is big and small babays can get stuck just as easily! lol. but general view all's well, dates on target etc. She did the gloucose bloods as well - felt a bit short changed after u girls all had 2 hours! lol - I was looking forward to a nice lay down watching trisha! lol. anyhow 30 mins later was back out again. got my MATB1 form. had a breif chat to the boss about mat leave - have put for ward a date of the 10th feb. (they were after the end of feb - yeah right! lol) boss has said I can go back to work when ever I want to- I did agree provisionally 10 hours form about jake being 8 weeks old. boss also said I could take jake into work with me if I wanted to - he said 'why change when u have the best??@ awww trying to either keep me sweet or has realised not many ppl would do my amount of work for the money - lol - hence why i'm always on MN! lol. anyhow started a thread in Pregnancy section on mat pay and employment if anyone has any good advice - am more than willing to hear any views! lol.

rom - buggboo- what's this then? must have missed that one. MIL/DH like those quinny things but I can't stand them. don't worry bout rubbing it in with work - it's dec and tbh I do bugger all in dec anyways so I don't mind! lol. dec/jan is so slow it's a case of counting pens and re arranging the envelopes! lol.

lol@ friz at the hair style - lol, glad u had a nnice pamper sesh hon.

LLover - how's ur friends LO? awww threre's somehting about this time of year and new borns! lol. don't think we can do the stats like that no - althou u could always flip the list to have the list at the top - just means the latest posts will be at the bottom instead of the top. at ur boobies! lol - I thought mine were huge! lol - i've gone from a 34D to a 36DD and thta's huge for me! lol - they look massive! yes it is mena to have 4 choccy's and not share with a LO. - how mean.

Lizlou - hope they managed to get your blood in the end. bad news about the dates issue. fingers crossed thou it will just be extra water or something. when will you get the results?

ooh asked my M/W about the whole salt thing - cos I've been eating loads of ready salted crisps she told me that 4 was too exccessive (I knew this) and all the salt is no good (only ment to have 5mg or soemthing??) anyhow she said if I really must have one bag only - I was like ok one bag - the kingsize bag? lol. didn't have any extra salt yesterday thou - too busy stuffing the lemon sponge in my face - turns out out of a cake (double decker with cream) DH has had 2 slices (slithers) and there's 2 slices left- so basically in 2 dasy i've eaten half a cake lol.

and the babies r us furniture - cna't remeber who was after the info, it's fab - DH put together the changing station and it's lovely, (not convinced it's solid wood but it looks it and it sturdy enough)

it's this cotbed and this chagner

v pleased with them and DH found it v easy to put together. gonna get some of those little boxes from wilko's on the weekend as I think they're only about £5 in there as opposed to the £20 in babies r us.

anyhow best have a shower and get off to work - bacon butties today for lunch!
