Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

Phew munz, thank crikey he's shifted, not good with legs n arms in odd places! well my sleep is all over the place, now waking at least twice a night for the loo or a drink!!
Can you believe 28 weeks today!! midwife goes to twice a month after this weeks apptmt!!

coppertop · 04/12/2005 13:40

Congratulations on finally getting a date, Zephyrcat! (although I have a feeling that I should probably have re-phrased that ).

AFAIK there is definitely only one baby in there (touchwood!). I'll just have to hope that the measurements are a bit more normal when I have the next MW appointment just before Christmas.

How is everyone else doing?

romilly · 04/12/2005 15:13

i think they must be all busy christmas shopping friz! it is super-quiet on here.

well my news is that i am stopping work at christmas (yayyyyyyy ). have decided to not go back in january as my blood pressure is still all over the place so better safe than sorry. i am trying to take things easy at the moment but is not the time of year for that really.

anyone got braxton hicks yet? when do they start?

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 04/12/2005 20:01

Yeaaaahhhhhh go Rom, go Rom, don't blame you girl, you and your baby's health is far more important only 3 weeks left at work then
I've been getting braxtons quite a lot this time, but during my 1st never even noticed them so don't worry if you don't seem to get any/don't notice them.

Hello coppertop!

munz · 04/12/2005 20:12

[evny] rom u leaving work! 5 more weeks for me after xmas! oh well! lol, been busy today buying loads for baby - well I ordered it using mum's credit card! lol - we had £300 to spend on a pram -and couldn't get the mama's and papa's one (apparently it's discontinued) so got a mother care one instead with loads of extra bits as well. and the MIL ordered our dresser/cot, so all thta's left for us to buy (apart from bits for me ) is matresses stair gates and a bedding set (will do the stairgates/matress from the army I think) and then we're ready - yay!

hope all's well with everyone.

Hellooo!

I didn't have any Braxton Hicks the first time around. I kept expecting to get them but nothing ever happened. With ds2 they only started in the last week or two before he was born.

munz · 04/12/2005 22:33

when r BH's ment to start then?

RosiePosie · 05/12/2005 08:12

Hi everyone, been preoccupied here with sick kids etc - the usual winter stuff.

I didn't have any noticable BH contractions first time either. I remember the MW examining me at about 32 weeks and saying, "ooh, you're having a BH, can you feel it?" and I couldn't! They've definately got stronger with each pg - I've had them since 16 weeks this time. Not painful though, just feels like tightening and my stomach goes rock hard.

OP posts:
poppyh · 05/12/2005 08:22

Ive had really bad BH this time.Thought I was going into prem labour the other day!!Went to Hamleys yesterday looking for a doctors outfit for Lola.It was hell on earth in there!!Never again!
Hope all is well today everyone.

laundrylover · 05/12/2005 14:28

Just checking in but am going to climb in my bed beside sleeping child for an hour! Deserve it seeing as she was up whinging til about 2am last night and Zeb kicking like a mule too. Pete snoring away though.....

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 05/12/2005 18:10

Hi all, well done on the shopping Munz! hope your all ok, looks like it!
Poppyh can sympathise re the painful braxtons....
Laundry lover, hope you get better sleep tonight.
Waiting to see if I get dd's bug, have a crampy tummy, as does dh, argh! really hope not...

spiker · 05/12/2005 19:25

RP - lots of sympathy on the sick kids front. We're onto the third bug in as many weeks here. This week it's Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease... Will DS ever go to nursery again?

BH contractions - agree, difficult to recognise first time round. I did have them though. I don't so much notice my bump hardening (probably the layer of flab over it obscures this), as experience a sudden sensation of tightening followed by a little endorphin rush. I remember thinking during the first pregnancy that labour would be a breeze if I was getting endorphins just from BH. Strangely this didn't prove to be the case.

spiker · 05/12/2005 19:59

and popphyh - Hamleys??!!! You mad fool. That's what the internet is for. And I live in upper norwood, which is on the lambeth/croydon boundary and as I live on the croydon side I have to go to Mayday. It's not great but it's OK. Don't know anybody who's been to Lewisham, is it really grim? We've just got our mortgage agreed in principle so if the House Buying Gods are on our side I'll be giving birth to a Yorkshire lad/lass.

coppertop · 06/12/2005 11:49

There seems to be a few bugs doing the rounds atm. Ds1 was off school a couple of weeks ago with a headache and a high temperature. Last week the school phoned to let me know that he had some kind of stomach bug. This week it's me and ds2 full of cold and generally feeling sorry for ourselves. What I'd give for a Lemsip right now.......

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 06/12/2005 13:20

{{{{Hugs}}} Coppertop, hope you feel better soon, I'm feeling lots better today, think I've beaten it, not had a cramp since 1st thing this morning, let hope I've not spoken too soon!
Beanie decided to make herself into a small ball last night and curled up on the right hand side, with lots of protest if I moved, so ended up sleeping/being woken up if I moved!! on my right all night!

RosiePosie · 06/12/2005 14:04

I HATE sleeping on my side, I always sleep on my back usually, so feeling very achey and tired at the moment. Only 12 more weeks to go. . .only!lol.

I'm having bloods taken on Friday which I am so scared about. I know it's silly and irrational, but I have a bit of a phobia about it. So much so, I declined the 12 week ones. But I think I ought to get them done now, just absolutely dreading it.

OP posts:
Klara · 06/12/2005 15:17

God - I'm so depressed. After spending the first three months chucking up and not gaining much weight I have according to my mw put on more than half a stone in the last 6 weeks. Her words to me were - "if you go on like this".
I feel so depressed - I was way too large last time and am trying to be relatively careful at the moment.
silly cow

klara

RosiePosie · 06/12/2005 15:46

It sounds like you are just catching up a bit Klara, if you didn't put on any weight in the first few months, I guess your body is just adjusting as it needs to. It's normal to put weight on in pregnancy! Ignore your MW, she sounds silly . I've put on a stone and a half so far and its all bump and boobs - no extra fat anywhere else. Don't worry about it!

OP posts:
romilly · 06/12/2005 19:16

klara - i totally agree with rosiep - dont listen to the midwife what a ridiculous thing for her to say. i have put on a lot in the last several weeks, but i am sure my body is making up for all the lost time when i was very sick.

sorry for all of you who are bug-dodging! bit tricky when you have school age kiddies i guess

Marystoothyboychild · 06/12/2005 20:28

Have just caught up with this thread and found out about DHW. It's so sad, and I hope you're coping OK, DHW - my thoughts are with you.

munz · 07/12/2005 13:21

hiya girls,

hope everyone's ok.

Friz - hope u didn't get the bug, and the bean has moved. Thankfully Jake's moved away now - all be it leaving 3 strech marks behind him thou!

Spiker - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO u want a suvvvvernnnn baby! not a northern one! lol (DH would kill me for saying that!) lol, althou he'd agree def not a Leeds baby! lol.

RP - good luck on fri with ur bloods. i've got mine on friday, can u believe it 27 weeks already! lol.

Klara - def ignore ur M/W, I read somewhere a lady who watched what she ate and suffered, ate what she liked next time and didn't put much on and the third time went OTT. but funnily enough all 3 tiems she put on roughly the same amount - don't understand it - but I guess u're body tells u what it wants to eat when it does iycwim.

i've not noticed and BH at all - apart from possibly one (althou that was more than likely to be wind! lol). DH keeps telling me i'm punching/kicking him during the night not that I know sound o me! lol.

hope u don't mind me reffering to the bump as Jake - it's what we've decided (well 90%) so we're 'test' driving it so to speak! lol. it's either that or Joesph (joe) but I think Jake will stick.

ooh and finally, do any of u use foam matresses/ what matress do u use? for the cot bed i'm thinking, for the crib we're gonna go with a foam one but we wanted a better quality one for the cot (so might buy a cheap foam one then upgrade after next xmas or something - what do u girls think/advise?)

romilly · 07/12/2005 14:55

hi everyone. munz i had the glucose test yesterday, all fine, is that what you are having the bloods for?

afraid i dont know a thing about mattresses so cant advise. i will be asking you all this stuff in january!

munz · 07/12/2005 15:03

erm it's the standard 28 week ones rom I think.

jsut got my pram delivered and carry cot - OMG cna't wait to get home now - althou 3/4 of my 2nd order wan't there just menas i'll get pressies again on fri

munz · 07/12/2005 19:54

whole order was there didn't look in the box - DH put it together - the car seat's gonna take work! lol it's an arquard bugger to sit on the pushchair! lol. got visions of standing in the car park like a lemon for half hour whilst I figure it out! lol.
