Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

I saw the MW this morning and she didn't have a clue which end was which - she looked really puzzled and said either he was breech or he has a really boney bum! I have a scan on Thursday, so fingers crossed she's wrong! My gut feeling is he's head down though.

Wow Friz!!Thats amazing! You may deliver this week then!
Wish I could have this baby NOW!!
Our loft is still in a real mess.Yesterday went up there and lost balance. My foot went through the ceiling and left a big hole in DS's bedroom ceiling.
Was very scary, but luckily no one was hurt,Just feel bloody silly now!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 17:05

Yikes re the loft Poppy H, take it your ok tho, even if the celings not that'd have been one way to have your baby I suppose!

RP, that I guess is why we're being scanned, just to make sure no feet 1st!! Hoping to get a good pic actually, have a great one of dd, sucking her thumb at 34 weeks from last time (had low lying placenta which moved, phew)

NOOOOOOOOOO Poppy H, I'm really hoping not, as a) the quacks don't have my pethadine pescription ready yet!
b) we are not ready
c) we are not ready and
d) we are not ready!!
Have dashed out and brought shower curtains today for the HB just in case tho, but really I have too much work to do this week like babys going to care about that right! I reckon it may hang on until ss gets down for half term Thursday night! I blame dh, for putting an order in with the bump for a half term delivery myself........kinda hoping it'll hang on until end of month as planned, just cause I've prep'd myself for then, but hey, what will happen will happen (oh and Hotmama will drive up the Mway and kill me, if I drop before her, as she's overdue at present and not happy)

RosiePosie · 06/02/2006 17:16

Hoping for a half term delivery myself, as dh is off work so it would be very convenient! Not likely though, I'll still be here in march, you mark my words!

I couldn't make head not tail of my last 36 week scan - too much baby to fit onto the screen at once, lol.

Water situation, not too good, but could be worse. We are affected, they did deleiver several litres in a big reuseable water carrier with tap, and the nearest bowser is ACTULLY only about 200m away now they have a fuller network of them in place. So tomorrow if I run out before dh gets home I can put the carrier on the pushchair frame and walk round the corner. Still no idea how long we will be in this situation for could be as much as week according to the news.
Just as well its now not in 3 wks time or I think the homebirth plan would be out the window, can't see the MW being happy about birth in a house with no water fit for drinking or medical purposes acroding to the Water Co.
Ho Hum. I'll stop rambling now and go and drink another pint of cooled boiled bowser water.

Lizzylou · 07/02/2006 12:37

Newgirl- thanks for all your kind advice...but after just getting mye head round a C-Section and asking everyone I knew who'd had one (even inspecting a few scars!) ....the baby turned the night before the scan! I felt really sick all night and was in loads of discomfort, then all was rather more comfy actually! The placenta has also moved and the baby has slowed down it's growth too......so have been now trying to get my head round a vaginal birth again!
Hope everyone is well and it is good to know that the end is surely in sight!
xxx

RosiePosie · 07/02/2006 13:33

That's great news, LL ( I think! ) - hard to get your head around one thing, only to have everything change again. I have absolutely no idea if my little chap is up or down - if it IS a bum up there, it's small and boney, and I DO feel different - roll on Thursday when I'll know for sure. To be honest, if he is breech then I'll say "great, when can you book me in?" because I still haven't quite got my head around labour and childbirth for the third time!

Lizzylou · 07/02/2006 14:32

RP, it is wierd! I am now sipping my raspberry leaf tea, have my TENS machine to hand and am trying hard not to remember last time! I was worried anyway about missing my little boy whilst in hospital and stressing about the aftermath...seems like this little one will be awkward from the off!
Hope you get the answer you want xxx

chellebelle · 07/02/2006 16:02

Hiya,

haven't been posting for a while but have been keeping an eye on what's been happening.

Have been for a m/w appt today and she's sending me for testing for GD. I am absolutely gutted If it turns out I have GD she says my homebirth goes completely out of the window (I have nice heated pool being delivered on Friday)and DH has spent all morning getting the room ready for it.

She also says there is no way they will let me go over. Anyone know what this actually means? Does this mean they'll induce me the week before I'm due or the week that I'm due or what? Am very confused and quite upset

I'm so frustrated - apart from some spd pain this pregnancy has been so straight forward and uncomplicated - how come I get to 36 weeks and then this happens - grrrrr

Lizzylou · 07/02/2006 16:06

They tested me for GD too as the baby was so big (now slowed down) but I was fine...hope alls well with you and you can go ahead with your plans xx

RosiePosie · 07/02/2006 17:39

I've replied to your post on the pregnancy forum chellebelle.

OP posts:
chellebelle · 07/02/2006 20:31

Thanks RP

Test is on friday so will just have to wait and see what the results say. Don't think I'll get them until my next m/w appt though at which poiint I'll be 38 weeks so it hardly seems worth the stress and worry.

So - just to check - we haven't had anyone pop yet have we?

Frizbetheexpansionset · 07/02/2006 20:45

Oh Chellebelle, how horrible to have gotten this far and then have to get tested for GD, I've had the testing (take something to do for 2 hrs...) but all was ok here......not sure what they do, do if you actually have it, insulin, induce or c-sect is my guess?? but its only a guess....
Don't think anyone has popped yet? after a quiet week on the feb thread, things are starting to happen there at last!

Sarah, poor you, what a horrid situation to be stuck in, really hope they get it fixed quickly for you {{{Hugs}}}

vickiyumyum · 08/02/2006 11:45

been for my 34 week scan today, baby not huge, but not small, liqour fine, no problems, so sticking with c/s for 16th march. my ds1 came to the scan today and was quite excited, they said it was still a girl, so fingers crossed!!!! but ds1 said that the other appointments were boring, too much waiting around, oh how he sounds like his dad!

after months of people promising to lend items and then not passing them on, we finally brought everything and now, people are turning up on the doorstep witht eh items that they had promised aaaggghhh!!! i now have 2 moses baskets, a cradle, 2 cots, and 3 prams!!!! will have to give them back but felt too embarrased at the time to say that i got fed up waiting and so had brought new ones! dh is not happy as the dining room is full of stuff we don't need or want. although i have to admit the three changing bags are my fault, i got carried away bidding for brand new oioi ones on ebay, thinking i wouldn't win any and ended up winning all three. but they are all different and very nice

laundrylover · 08/02/2006 14:44

Just been for my 34 week check and MW says she's bringing round my homebirth kit on the 28th which is Tilly's 2nd birthday! baby has turned on it's side (felt it go at weekend) but seems settled head down.
LizzyLou I'm so glad your baby turned and you can stop worrying about CS.
Just back from long weekend in London and had forgotten just how many steps there are on the tube network so can hardly walk now! Also no-one gave me a seat in the rush hour yesterday so remembered why we moved back up north.

totallyinlove · 08/02/2006 14:50

I got my doctors appointment tomorrow. Dreading it! Got to have my bloods done again to recheck my iron levels, which I know will be low because I've had this sickness bug the past couple of days. Midwife supposed to be bringing homebirth kit on Sunday. I keep having dreams about dying while having this baby so I am almost tempted to go to hospital anyway to be honest! If my levels aren't up this time it will me a no go for the homebirth anyway. Will be 37 weeks on Monday. (EDD 6th) Oh and I had a show the other day! EEK!

Husbands nan died the other day so everything else has taken a bit of a backseat. Been a bad week really.

Hope you are all ok. Will post more personal replies in a few days when I actually feel a bit more human and awake. Take care all. x

UniSarah · 08/02/2006 17:22

Smypathy TiL, hope you get some sleep tonight and fingers crossed for drs tomorrow.

I asked MW about my blood results today and thought it must be good as I hadn't been phoned by the hospital yet, apparently they are MUCH slower with getting good results out than bad. Ho Hum , I'll try and stop worrying.
Water- still undrinkable , the local TV news people were wanting to talk to a "mum" from our mums and babies group this morning, we all said no, none of us wanted to embarras ourselves and to be honest its not THAT bad.
37 weeks today- eek. he could be "on time" any day now.

romilly · 08/02/2006 18:19

hi all well i am 36 weeks today. glad to hear your babies are getting in position. have my m/w appt. tomorrow so will check if she is still in posterior position. have an inkling she is. must start getting on all fours, lol

friz - really sorry to hear about your friend (on beanie thread) and it is soooo gutting about wendy's news.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 08/02/2006 18:52

Rom, yep rather a bummer about my friend feeling very rotten for his wife and kids as the house came with the job, so lord knows where they'll end up.......

Feeling so rotten for wendy also, have posted on the thread tho, and hope she reads it, as they are starting to treat what I think is her problem, although its mainly experimental at the mo, if you have her mail, could you nudge her to read it??

Vickiyumyum, glad your scan went ok

LL Goodluck with the homebirth, I'm still waiting for my pethadine, had to leave perscription with chemists today, as they have to order in the ammts the doc has put down, not normal stock levels.....I really hope I don't decide to drop tonight.....

TIL, you are going to pop so early get yourself over to the feb thread, there are a few of us covering our bases, and they're a very chatty bunch!! Very sorry to hear about your dh's nan

Well I had my scan today and bump is fully in....argh! they had to re do my bloods, as the last lot had messed up somewhere along the line, but the midwife had forgotten to do them when she came last week and doh!

newgirl · 08/02/2006 21:53

Wow its been an eventful week for everyone!

cb - sorry to hear about possible GD - hope they are just being cautious and all will be well.

RP - what's all this talk about a c-section!! I thought you were home-birthing? I'm sure breeches can flip still?

well, I had a rubbish time on Tues. I went for a routine midwife appt and mentioned that space was getting tight and I hadn't felt as many kicks. Before I knew it she sent me to hospital for a check even though I said I am sure it was fine. Well, kicks were fine, but they all had a good prod and said oblique/breech. Midwife at hospital said come in a for a scan next week (36 weeks) and I said I'm booked in anyway for a scan with possible placenta previa. She then said that I should bring a large bag as consultant may want me to stay in until they decide to deliver.

I did ask why and she said about cord getting squashed etc but I said surely that is only if I go into labour? She then said 'best wait to see at the scan on tues' which is all well and good but now I am really upset that I might have to stay in hospital for three weeks. There wasn't a consultant there that day so there was no one else to ask. My logical brain thinks 'placenta previa is rare' and 'breech babies can move' but I am now hanging on until Tues. I have no intention of staying in hospital for three weeks - I have a DD for a start! Surely they can whip the baby out asap if its really in trouble?

Sorry to waffle on - I am sure all will become clear next week, but it does help to tell you all!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 08/02/2006 22:12

Ah newgirl, I had poss placenta previa the last time, and they advised a bag then for me, its cause, if it is low, and your 36 weeks plus, they don't want to risk you going into labour, so they'll just book you for a c-sec asap.....sorry to be the bearer of bad news there.....

newgirl · 08/02/2006 22:24

Hi friz-Thanks for posting so quickly. That makes sense. I don't really mind the idea of a c-section as I had one last time but I am more frightened of a long stay in hospital. I think I'd get really fed up. I'll keep you posted x

RosiePosie · 09/02/2006 07:33

Oh good luck Newgirl - everything crossed your placenta is in a good place! That's more urgent than the breech, obviously.

I'm not too worried about a breech - I was only wittering on about c-sections, because in a stupid perverse way it would just be nice to have some certainty about what's going to happen! Homebirth still definately planned and on the cards . I have a scan in less than two hours time - I'd better go and get in the shower!

munz · 09/02/2006 08:00
