Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

totallyinlove · 02/02/2006 09:20

morning ladies. hope you are all ok. apart from feeling fat and fed up!

am off to see the consultant in a minute to get approval for homebirth. Am really nervous because my iron levels arent going up any and I think that they will say no because of that.

Marne · 02/02/2006 09:29

Good luck totallyinlove, hope all goes ok with home birth.

Hope you are all well'

I spent yestaday aftenoon in hospital after another heavy bleed, told them i was'nt staying in the night so managed to get home by 7pm. Baby was fine, turns out i have a cervix erosion and an infection, they took a swob and sent it to be tested to see if i need any antibiotics, the good news is the baby is'nt at risk but i might have to have treatment after she's born.

DD has decided i have mr tummble in my tummy, think she might be disapointed when she finds out he's not LOL.

Jackstini · 02/02/2006 13:17

Hi all - has a busy weekend as DH's 30th bday. We had agreed a year ago we would be celebrating it on holiday (a re-run of our honeymoon) but bump obviously scuppered that so just had meals etc!
Marne - glad everything went ok at hospital yesterday, at least good to hear no risk for baby.
Had my first ante-natal class yesterday but already know I will not get on with this midwife - someone asked her about breastfeeding and she said there was no nutritional benefit after 6 months in her opinion! Am going armed with internet printouts next week to have a quiet word about perhaps taking not of the WHO guidelines...
Friz - how is your car now? Hopefully all signs of croup disappeared too
UniSarah - your DH sounds like a cracking creative house husband - very impressed!
Poppy - Scarlett is our first choice for a girl! (even though everyone is convinced I am having a boy)
Munz - only next week to go then before you start maternity leave - yea!!!! I have got until March 14th so am on countdown..
TIL - I have had the leg cramps thing too. Have been doing leg stretches before bed every night and does seem to be helping so give it a go
Rom - hope everything is going smoothly re your moving - don't envy you but sure you will be taken good care of!
Have my hospital tour tonight and been told they have closed one of the wards and are down to 47 neds from 68 so they will want labouring ladies in as late as poss and out as early as poss! I will be going home when I want and not before!!

poppyh · 02/02/2006 14:23

Marne, how scary that mustve been.Glad all is ok with bump though.
Only 3 weeks to go for me which is freaking me out slightly! It seems to be going quick.
Dont know what im going to do for DDs birthday. She wants to go on the London Eye but im not sure I can!
Loft is still a mess, builders havent been around much this week.Still, its not so messy now.
Hope everything else is good with everyone.

UniSarah · 02/02/2006 19:01

poppy- the London eye is fantastic! We had a 182nd birthday party on it the other year, me mum and gran combined as we have B/d with in a coupla weeks. I'd recomend booking timed tickets- not much queueing that way. The IMAX cinema nearby have a nice quiet ( well when we went there) cafe anmd toilets etc which was way less stress than useing the McDs under the eye. Staff at both places V helpfull to a large family party.
Hope you can take a spin on it sometime, it goes so slow that even my uncle who hates heights was Ok on it ( he stayed inthe middle of the pod sat on the bench).
UniSarah

UniSarah · 02/02/2006 19:06

Jacks- Dh thanks you for the compliment! hes currently serenading me with "truly scrumptiuos" on the trumpet! pip is wriggging along happiliy :-)

Hes a good bloke*, And I love him to bits.
UniSarah
*NOT just when he does sewing machine stuff that I hate doing ( I'm terrified I'll sew my fingers to the fabric.)

Frizbetheexpansionset · 02/02/2006 19:56

Til, hope all has gone ok with the consultant and the home birth?

Marne re the errosion, but phew that all is well with baby, hope your bearing up ok with it all and that it doesn't cause you too much trouble after the birth.

Jackstini, yikes re the wards, is that QMC or City?
Thanks for asking, got car back yesterday (after holding one of their courtesy cars to ransom!) it has a new water pump and temp gague, thank crikey it was on the warrenty, phew! Dd just has a streaming cold now, and I appear to have it too.......sob....off to cuddle up with my honey and orange on the sofa now...

totallyinlove · 02/02/2006 20:15

Hi! Consultant was dubious about homebirth but i agreed that i would go into hospital straight away if there appeared to be any problems and she eventually agreed. BP was 90/70. Iron level was 10.4, but that was taken a few weeks ago when i stopped taking the iron tablets baecause they made me ill. I have started taking a liquid supplement now which I seem to be tolerating better so hopefully my levels will be up a bit now. I feel better, so I think it has helped.

Marne-sorry about the erosion. Glad everything is ok with the baby.

Frizbe-colds are horrid when you are pregnant seeing as theres virtually NOTHING you can take for it! Poor you. Lots of steam, hot drinks and cuddles is the best!

UniSarah-london eye? aargh I hate heights!!

Jackstini-Ignore the midwife and do what you feel is best. Request a different midwife if you have to.

Poppyh-How much longer are the builders expected to take?? Poor you. Bet it is driving you insane.

Laundrylover (come ad do mine for me!! ) How was the pizza??

VickiYumYum-Glad you are feeling better

Romilly-That drives me nuts, people trying to get their hands on my bump! Hope you have them what for!!!

Hope the rest of you are doing ok too! I am going to go and find something to eat now before husband gets home and we start the nightly 'name arguement' ritual that seems to have started recently! I hate is seeing as I already know the sex of the baby. Hubby still doesnt want to know though so I have to endure these pointless arguements without appearing obvious!!

Does anyone else know the sex of their baby?

Take care! x

RosiePosie · 03/02/2006 13:20

Consultants usually are dubious about homebirths! Quite honestly, it's actually got very little to do with him - as long as you haven't had any pregnancy complications and the midwives are happy, that's what counts - because they'll be the ones attending, not the consultant. It's normal for iron levels to drop in pregnancy, and 10.4 isn't low anyway. Glad the liquid supplement is agreeing with you better - I can't get on with tablets either.

I've never even seen a consultant in any of my pregnancies.

Marne, it sounds like you've had a really rough pregnancy - I hope the treatment and recovery after the birth are quick and as easy as possible.

Well, we've got to the sitting around and waiting stage here. Everything is organised - except I have to work out how to work my new breastpump and how to transform my Phil and Ted's from a single into a double. I'm 37 weeks on Tuesday, which is when they're happy for me to have the homebirth. So, I'm waiting until the week after ( half term ) and then I'm going to start jumping around and eating pineapple and having sex and all those things. Bet I'll still be here into March though!

OP posts:
Frizbetheexpansionset · 03/02/2006 18:22

RP I'm feeling the same 37 weeks on Sunday, so off to buy my shower curtains for the homebirth tomorrow! as reckon pretty safe by then!! however no signs of anything, so bound to be here in March!

Til, good news re the homebirth! although agree with what RP said about consultants!

REally must get dh to clear out bumps room this weekend...he did ss's last week and chucked all ss's junk in there! on top of his own serve him right if we have a baby this weekend I tell ya!

Hope all are ok and feeling breezy today?
My cold is slightly better, although was up in the night with sinuses.....
I've booked for dd and I to go and see the wiggles in July, then gone, doh! I need a babysitter for the yongest! yikes, think I have found a friend who can do it tho, as dh away with work that weekend and GP's are away! argh!! telling dd she can't see the wiggles, would be a total no, no tho......

catj · 03/02/2006 18:33

Hi all!
Just checking in. Saw my midwife today,BP ok,wee ok and fairly certain baby is head down-phew! Can't believe some of you have only got 3 or 4 weeks to go! I feel like I'm going to be sat here on my own come the end of March .
I've booked to see the Wiggles too with the dt's and I was planning to take the baby . My mum's coming as well though so it won't be too bad (hopefully).

RosiePosie · 03/02/2006 18:40

Hey Friz - I have tickets for the Wiggles too! We're seeing them in Brighton, what about you? Just me and dd ( am meeting a friend and her littlies ) - dh is staying at home with the boys.

I'm actually beginning to feel a bit excited now about having my new baby - the end is in sight - hooray!

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 03/02/2006 18:40

Oh, catj - sorry! I didn't see you had Wiggles tickets too, lol. ( Excuse my vacant preggo brain )

OP posts:
Frizbetheexpansionset · 03/02/2006 19:35

lol RP, I'm doing the NEC! Catj was thinking about taking new baby, but on the wiggles thread (ahem!) someone said one of the theatres wasn't allowing under 2's don't know which mind, but as booked NEC online, couldn't find any info about taking newbie or not?? so have opted for not for now!

catj · 03/02/2006 20:16

I'm going to Brighton too. It was a choice between there or Bristol but I think the route to Brighton is mostly motorway (only driven that way once before). I did phone the venue at Brighton to check whether I could take the baby and all they said was to be aware of others around us! If I feel nearer the time its too much then dd1 can have a day off school to help Grandma with the twins

munz · 05/02/2006 11:32

hiya girls, long time now speak! lol.

hope everyone's getting big/fat as well! lol. 36 weeks woohoo never thought i'd make it this far 8 months ago!

anyhow what's all this about wiggles then?

friz/rp/til good news u girls are safe for the homebirths - fingers crossed u all manage them.

rosie - we're also waiting, well when I say that I finish work this week - and the girls have got me some mothercare vouchers so i'll be off up town next week when DH is at work! to get the bedding set/matress for the cotbed and then we'll be ready - althou we have it all fro the crib so it's no biggy if it's not here in time! lol@ u jumping around! does the pinapple thing actually work - I cna't stand that stuff! lol.

til - yes ours is boy floavoured - least 3 scans have said he is - and I bloody hope he's a he otherwise we'll have the only cross dressing baby in town! lol. we're erm, well naems, i've actually gone off the Jake idea now, and so have the book back out- DH of yet hasn't said anything about it being out- but as he moved it onto the floor he know's i'm looking. on suggestion of other MNetters, im going to wait until he's here then all knackered doey eyed and best u best not say no to me look tell him i'd actually like something else instead of Jake! lol. he's def not liking harvey - going to try caleb instead but there's a few others i'm toying with.

jack - 14th i'm hoping this buba will be out long b4 then - althou I doubt it! lol - my b'day's the 13th so I want a huge taboo/lemonade! lol. besides that puts me 11 days over and if I stay on this pattern on the chart bubba will be 9.9lb as it is the m/w has said he's gonna be a big boy - ie not 6lb more 7.5-8lb but said she could be a lb out ouch! still right cm for the weeks now! hope all goes better for u with the BF and m/w thankfully in our hospital they're v good and pro b/f by the looks of things.

anyhow hope the rest of u girls are doing OK. it's unbelieveable isn't it we're due next month - or in the case of a few this month I have less than 30 days now !

anyhow went to anti natal classes, got the tour of the labour ward - was rather impressed to see a birthing pool there. so might give that a go - what do u girls think to the birthing pools? the post natal wards (I've found out if u choose to stay over night/longer - as I was hoping to but rather hoped for my own pte room) u're on a ward with 3 other ladys. and the shower/loo is at the end other the room, with bathing facilities etc for the baby. all the babies are with mum regardless for BF or formula, they don't have a nursery/won't take the bbay away for any reason unless it's a dr and then u go with the baby - they're v v hot on security up there, every door has a push bell thingy and the m/w comes to let u in so in theory no one can just walk on in as it's all CCTV as well. was rather impressed they seem to be pro bf, the m/w was talking about how they help with bf and latching on etc and she hopes everyone will try it - so that was a relief.

anyhow best go wake DH up lol. 5 days to go in work (no MN thou ) hoping the bump will come a bit early if he's ment to be a big boy! lol.

munz · 05/02/2006 11:35

rom - how did u restrain urself? I prob would have slapped her I ahte it when ppl want to touch my bump - I mean it's not bloody public property is it?? (althou I must confess my PG hormones have come back with a vengance! lol)

Frizbetheexpansionset · 05/02/2006 12:32

Hiya Munz, 37 weeks here, argh! now officially safe for homebirth!! must really buy those shower curtains today! and have midwife visit tomorrow with my drugs perscription

Your hosp sounds good, 3-4 beds to a ward, how nice, it's 8 at our local one....with one bathroom.........argh!

The Wiggles are a bunch of Aussie blokes who sing and dance, along with Wags the dog, Dorothy the Dinosaur, an Octopus whose name escapes me and Capain Feather Sword a pirate....your bound to come across them in the next year or two, dd lurves them.....argh!

Hope all ok, off to make dinner now, and continue to pass my orrible snotty cold around the house! am also dragging dh out for a walk this afternoon, as dd and I bored!! (sure I can fit tea and cake into that equation somewhere as well )

coppertop · 05/02/2006 13:06

Just catching up again and checking to make sure that everyone's okay. Sorry you had such a scare, Marne.

I'm still plodding/waddling along. I'm seeing the MW again next week so should hopefully find out then if this baby has decided to turn round yet. The movements feel fairly low down though so I suspect the little blighter might still be breech.

I can't believe there's already a "Due in October 2006" thread! Where did the time go??

romilly · 05/02/2006 16:45

friz - congrats on 37 weeks today hun

munz - congrats on nearly finishing work!

sorry not had time to chat much this week, hopefully catch up a bit more next week.

keep well all x

romilly · 05/02/2006 16:46

p.s. TinLove - i know the sex of my baby! a girl

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 08:25

Coppertop hope baby has turned

Hi Rom, glad your well, hope the house move is heading in the right direction.

Well have had an awful nights sleep here, as dh has spent so much of this weekend working (albeit from home) I think this is worse for dd, as she thinks her dad is ignoring her, when he's really not, it just feels a bit that way sometimes, so she decided to wake up every hour/half hour during the night, crying out for him.......he's trotted off to work this am, with her still begging to see him.......luckily for me today is also a nursery day.......which she likes, so have just dropped her off there, phew, feel I need some calm before storm....was wondering if dd knows something I don't, re baby/can sense something may be going to happen, as she was even funny about her old cot this am, asking who was going in it etc, even tho its been in our room for weeks and we've explained it belongs to bump now......

Well have midwife homevisit today, re the homebirth thing, to go thru notes etc so fingers x'd that goes ok! will no doubt report later.

Have a good one ladies

zephyrcat · 06/02/2006 10:26

Hello Everyone!! I have been lurking away in the background whilst you all steam ahead I can't believe you are all so close now - it's gone so quick!! I sort of went into limbo for a while as the gap between me and the March babies got bigger and bigger but I felt strange suddenly joining the April thread so late so I'm back

I'm still only 31 weeks but getting there!! My latest development is that we booked a 4D scan (you may remember my 'normal' scans were a bit of a let-down) as I needed to bring us all a bit closer - for DD to see what was really in there and for me to try and 'bond' a bit. As it turned out the 4D scan was a disaster too!! The first time we went we were there for 4 hours and had 3 goes at seeing the baby - the lady said my placenta was anterior so she couldn't see and had me walking around and jumping about like an idiot to get a better view but it didn't work. We went back the next day with a different lady and she couldn't get a picture becuse the arm was over the face!! Arrgghh!!
However they did both confirm that it's a girl which was really my biggest reason for going - dd is absolutely over the moon as she has been telling us from day 1 that it was, although now that I don;t have to worry about dd i've realised how much I wanted a boy!! Never mind.

The race is on to get everything ready now, so many bits to buy and get organised...where to start!!!

UniSarah · 06/02/2006 10:29

Maternity unit tours are werid, esp if your hoping to have a home birth.. we visted the RD&E unit quickly on saturday ( from pub to tour and back to pub in under an hour ;-)). The unit was so busy they could only show us a delievery room, fortunatly a large one as there waer about 12 couples onthe tour. and the a MW gave a short talk about the antenatal/post natal ward visting hours, shared toliets and dining room and hand wshing poilicey. I'm hoping we don;t end up there, its all a bit beige and instuitional.
On the more eventfull side of life. I'm currently waitig for a phone call to establish wheather I can drinl the tap water or not, and if not when I will get a delievery of drinking water. there is a water contamiation problem for about 3000 houses in my area, and the Water Co couldn't tell me if we are one of them or not. BUT as I'm so pg I'm a priority case for water delievery which is good news. I'll be Ok for the morning with the milk wa have in , but I'll be getting dry this aftrenoon if the don't deliever some. The nearest bowser is a good 40 min round trip for me in my current state and I could only carry a liter or so anyway, this problem might take 4 or 5 DAYS to flush through. JOY.
UniSarah

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 13:55

Hi Zephyr, shame about the scans, but congrats on another dd do you still have all the clothes?

Unisarah, yikes re the water situation, hope they get it sorted soon, reminded me of just after dd was born, when we got a batch of power cuts in a row, there had been about 4 new babies born on our street, and everytime the lights went out, out came 4 sets of parents, with babies, buggies, chairs etc, all heading off the their GP's for the remainder of the day/evening lol eh

Well have had shocking news today, MW came for home visit, and I'm 4/5 engaged, that's in not out! MW is now in a panic, as has lots of possible homebirths booked in for this week, she's asked me to try to hold on until weekend/next week at least!!! what??? I'm not ready myself yet, never mind her? this babies not due until 27th of Feb and dd was 5 days late, argh!! She's booked me in for a scan on Wed am, to treble check its a head and not legs n bum that's down, even tho I can feel those legs a kicking elsewhere....bless, its nice to have a thorough MW! Anyway if I'm true to form, she's got nothing to worry about, sure I'll still be here on 27th and she's panicing me for nothing!
