Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

romilly · 10/01/2006 18:49

so is it worth getting a tens machine for the birth then? and where is the best place to get them from?

munzie - what did you mean by GD? cant figure that one out

friz - glad the seats worked out

my cotbed was delivered today and it is beautiful! went for a white one. mind you, it looks enormous so just as well we are moving.

is noboby else having another scan before due date then?

Marne · 10/01/2006 18:58

romily, i did'nt find tens very effective but alot of people say they have, i think you can hire or buy them from boots or mothercare. If you are having the baby at hospital your maternity ward may have one (mine did). I found bouncing on a birthing ball helped for a while, i found it better than the tens.

Munz, lol about the rampent sex, i think that may of been what caused my bad braxton hicks the other night

munz · 10/01/2006 19:08

lol, marne, I'm telling DH dailiy instalments once he comes back! lol. (or at least every 2/3 days! lol.) spoons is the way we have been up to things! lol - but it's the whole issue of him thinking he's gonnahit the baby - I ask u! followed by where does he put his arm/hand lol. weird man my DH! lol. not to mention he's certain that the baby will come out battered and bruised! lol - odd man! lol. def going for daily instalments once I finish work at 37.5 weeks! lol.

rom - I ment diabetes, hopefully it's nothing like that. did u get ur blood work back from it? mine was clear in the end.

booked antinatal as well for the last sat of this month, and then maybe one in feb (last sat in feb) if LO's still not here then.

so these tens machines can u use them normally from home or only in labour? the girl over the road said I could borrow hers (she bought her one) so I guess i'd best pop in and get it.

anyhow hope all's well and marne - glad your BH's have lessened off somewhat.

spiker · 10/01/2006 20:49

rom - tens didn't work for me, I guess there's no way of knowing until you're in labour. worth a shot. I have a scan on 26/01 to check on low lying placenta. is the house stuff definitely on and if so, are you moving before or after birth? we are putting an offer in on a house tomorrow and i'm keeping everything crossed that we make into the house before baby comes.

RP - no, private room wasn't an option, can't remember if they didn't have any or if they were full. seriously, if it gets like that again I'm discharging myself. Does SPD feel like your pelvis is breaking apart at the front? I get searing pain when I pick DS up now - nearly dropped him twice yesterday DH has agreed to get home from work in time to help out with bath and bedtime now.

and er, for any missionary fans out there, try rotating DH/DP just enough so he's crosswise, avoiding your bump, so legs go girl-boy-girl-boy...enough information? good.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 10/01/2006 21:46

LL ! glad to help re the car seats hon !! I'd try mothercare for their free fitting advice if your still unsure tho

Munz sex talk was started by jackstini!! but thanks for thinking of me must be all our vin talk......ahhhhhh.....

RP, sorry but have to ask do you snore whilst he's at it too? sorry I'm being cheeky there

Well oven arrived today as well, old one had huge dint in the roof, which may or may not have contributed to its demise, certainly didn't help matters I'm sure, these building co's honestly, makes you wonder what else they get away with that you don't usually see.....so Pizza all round again soon, hurrah!!
Bump is currently doing a nice star shape...how uncomfy!

laundrylover · 10/01/2006 22:41

RP haven't heard from you in a while but good to hear you can still bonk with your spd too!! I've followed your advice and now do sod all and pain is much much better but boredom/weepy levels are up!! Can't win eh?
Hey Friz seeing as we've 'done' the sex talk we could nick the topic of 'fanny rivers' from your Feb thread!!! Is nothing sacred any more???

RosiePosie · 11/01/2006 08:08

Lolol, this thread is making me laugh. Yes, Laundrylover - doing nothing is so boring, I'm so grouchy at the moment, but atleast the pain is minimal.

Spiker - yes SPD feels like your pelvis is splitting apart at the front, if you're getting these pains, you need to take it easy as much as possible, and keep your legs together as much as possible - ie keep your knees together and swing over when getting up from a chair or turning over in bed, or getting out of the car. And no straddling anything!

RE. Tens, I didn't use one first time, but as I had a homebirth last time and pain relief options were limited I thought it would be worth a try - very pleased I did, I really loved it. You can use it for general aches and pains when not in labour too. If you can borrow one, definately worth a try!

LL - fanny rivers! come on then share that info! all girls together! lol.

friz - not bothered who started the sex talk, but if Rosies ok with spd, I should def be getttin some action without it! lol. (god I sound like a sex crazed man! lol) and yes those VD pics didn't help! lol.

RosiePosie · 11/01/2006 09:16

seriously, my sex life is virtually non-existant! Once a month I reckon, just to keep dh happy.

OP posts:
munz · 11/01/2006 09:19

lol, who'd have thought it eh! sitting down talking about our sex lives! lol - or lack of! lol.

what are u guys doing about contraception after?

RosiePosie · 11/01/2006 09:35

DH is having the snip

OP posts:
laundrylover · 11/01/2006 10:34

I can't bring myself to be the first to disclose my flow!!
Munz I think your libido is perking up as you are talking sex all over MN!!!!
RP it's a toss up between pain and boredom isn't it and the boredom is better - at least I can sit at the pooter and MN!
Going to the docs this afty to see the 'weepy woman' lady although have had a few really good days so not sure what to say to her now. Pete and I had a big blow out on Sat (mucho tears) and then we made some plans to bring my stress down including getting a cleaner - yippee!!!!
Birth control - reckon we'll stick to condoms as although it shocks me to say it I could possibly want a third !

munz · 11/01/2006 10:39

LL - I know sad init! lol. DH is away see it always goes up then! lol.

flow - u mean as in discharge flow?

Catj · 11/01/2006 10:55

Morning all!
Well I have finally got hold of the baby clothes from my sister so now have mountains of (extra) washing to do and nowhere to put it!
Went on a child free shopping trip with a friend yesterday and decided this baby deserves something of its own to wear other than its sisters'/cousins' hand-me-downs so bought an outfit for when its born!
Contraception-hmmm? Self restraint until I can have a mirena coil fitted. I know at lot of people don't get on with it but it worked well for me after dd1 and the benefit of very light/no periods. Four children is definitely enough for me

laundrylover · 11/01/2006 11:10

I don't like the word discharge Munz but yes!! The Feb threaders were very animated about it - I found it started the minute I got pregnant and has increased a bit recently. What use is it though at this stage? It's like having a floppy bit in your gut that gives you heartburn - what are the benefits???

laundrylover · 11/01/2006 12:05

Panic panic!!! Someone on the Feb thread has had their baby already!!! Must get on with my 'to do' list.....

munz · 11/01/2006 14:10

so i hear LL! lol. discharge - erm yes I seem to have a lot of it as well. did start to worry for a bit! alwasy have thou. my friend did ask if she was normal with having so much - bless her! lol.

cat - how did u find the coil with sex? - did ur DH know it was there as it were? how do they work? (if u don't mind me asking)

Frizbetheexpansionset · 11/01/2006 16:26

OMG OMG, must check the feb thread!!
LL I blame hotmama for 'that' discussion
RP, I wish I could get dh to do that snip thing, but he's not having it at the mo....
Hope all are ok, off to check whose dropped!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 11/01/2006 16:36

Munz, teuch has a baby!!! little boy, born Friday pm, 36 weeks.....awwww.....

UniSarah · 11/01/2006 16:57

Friz- your cat sounds quite quite potty but rather sweet. reminds me I must go and re-fill the bird feeder, now next door don;t have a cat we get lots of blue tits and sparrows etc visting our balcony, I'm enjoying a bit of gentle bird watching now I'm not at work.

Spoke to surestart midwife this morning who was encouraging about home birth, spoke to friend who had home birth last night and she was encouraging too, so I think thats going to be my first choice option now.
All this talk of early arrivals has promted me to dig out* a few of the new born size baby gros and vests and put them in the laundry basket. I'll start with the little sizes and work up over the next few weeks.
Sarah

  • have been given big bag of assorted sizes hand me downs.
munz · 11/01/2006 16:58

I saw form the beanie thread! u girls just can't be popping yet on thefeb thread! makes us march girls seems all the more closer!

Toothyboy · 11/01/2006 20:09

Have just skimmed the thread:

Rom - I'm having another scan next week (34wks), it'll be my 5th, but mine's for the opposite reason - small for dates. I measured 27cms at 31 weeks (although the following day another midwife measured me 28cms). But every scan has shown the same growth rate, it's just a small baby! I'm not worried, but I guess they have to be seen to be keeping an eye on me. Hope yours goes OK.

Catj · 11/01/2006 21:41

Munz-coil was fine although I did have to ask the dr to trim the thread (have to go back a few weeks after having it to make sure all's ok) after that dh didn't notice IYSWIM
The mirena works by releasing hormones in a low dose (I think). My dr did tell me that you need to be sure you don't want children for a few years because of the cost-mine was in 5 years and the month after it was out, bingo,pg with twins! I'm sure that wasn't down to the mirena tho (twins that is )

munz · 11/01/2006 21:50

we'd be prob looking at 2 - 2.5 years, would that be ok?

Catj · 11/01/2006 21:58

Not sure TBH but I think I was originally told 3 years. You know what health authorities are like though-no two seem to have the same policy on anything [rolls eyes]
